Android nougat update? - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it a lot to expect an Android nougat update soon. With no kernel source available I suppose it has to be an official update or is it time to buy a new phone (not a hisilicon device for sure)?

It's only just being released today ffs

MM was released by Mar so hope N will also be out by same for this as it was Honor brand Flashship last year

Huawei just released their two years software update guarantee with a lot of show, soooo I actually do expect Nougat in Feb - March 2017, yes.

Kernel source codes are available of Marshmallow, so now we can't blame Huawei to not releasing the sources. Nougat is still far away, as they have now a new flagship killer to attend to

He meant to say that the Nougat just released and you are asking for it way sooner than it should be available. ?

who should know that? Ask a crystal ball if you can find some. Or even better, ask HUAWEI

Taking in consideration the support for Honor 6 and some random online reports for Honor 7, I would say yes.

i believe we will get N , not sooner but later

As I can remember Huawei announced devices that will receive marshmallow update somewhere around October last year.Sony for example have already announced their nougat update plans.
Sent from my PLK-L01 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I prefer a stable marshmallow. Nougat is in the second plan to me. Even they are planning to release, they shouldn't announce it at this time. Because of sales policy..

But its still far away, as of now Nexus are also getting beta updates, so I don't think Huawei will release it anytime soon. Maybe if they can release a beta too.

The rumour is that the Qualcomm chips won't work, as Qualcomm refuse to compile Vulkan for the firmware - as the Kirin chipset is made by a subsidiary of Huawei, there's a better chance of that happening, imho.

What? Vulkan refuse to compiling? or getting a Nougat?

They updated their aosp just days after the source was released so they are likely already working on the update

And you can try out 5.1 with 3.10 Kernel from freeXperia
I think it should be relatively fast update comapred from 4.4.4 to lollipop

4.4.2 was fast
4.4.4 slow
5.0 slow
5.1 should be fast
What are the odds. I'd say it's a dead cert. I'd say the z2 will also be updated to the android version that launches with the new nexus in October too.
Z2 has a way to go before support ends.
Z will end on 5.0.2, Z1 may get 5.1 but that's in the lap of the gods!

Let them first rollout the 5.0.2 update. Apart from 2-3 regions everybody is waiting.

What regions were already updated? Which is the upgrade with fewer errors?
At this rate I would like to see them surprise us with a rollout straight to 5.1 if that is possible.

I honestly think all the Z series will be updated to 5.1 but if nexus 4 won't see the next version most likely Z won't receive the update but whole Z1 to Z3 will receive it.

Double Promotion: Mi4 getting Official MIUI based on Android M (Marshmallow)

Xiaomi Mi4 had not got Android 5 (Lollipop MIUI). So now Xiaomi is skipping Lollipop and directly updating to Android 6 (Marshmallow). We think Xiaomi has waked up on this update after One plus one announced Android 6 update for One Plus One Phones by next week.

I hope from next week we will have Android M - We will not taste MIUI Lollipop on Mi3. Still no issues
Sadly next week it's going to roll out to only BETA testers of Mi3 and Mi4. That also only chinese ROM.
let me remind you guys that beta rollout of windows 10 was done in last week of may or early June. It got released now.
By that calculation, M is 6 months away.
As per the article, Mi3 also will get Android 6 MIUI next week
here's what the article said
They'll no longer get KK updates so we might get M fairly soon..

One plus two will receive android m before the the one plus one according to all the articles I've read and the one plus two will not receive the update until q1 2016. Gossip is it'll be released in January by somebody's friend who works for one plus. Now as far miui m goes we all heard that when lollipop was released and as far as xiaomi and miui goes there word isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

You will get that for sure if you have US, UK or Indian Variant.
Honor 4X which was released with Kitkat is now running on Marshmallow. So Honor 5X will get update for sure. But it might be little delayed.
Refer - http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/probably-7-x-nougat-honor-5x-kiw-l24-t3474350
Probably not, from what an honor rep said, it's likely not to.
On the bright side, it will get it by custom ROMs
Seems that Honor only have few devices in its portfolio to upgrade as some of the devices don'e support API for Nougat.
So they will test with Nougat. But if they face serious issues, it won't be made available to all.
Hoping so, that won;t happen.

im thinking of buying honor 5x l22, have a few doubts..

hey guys, im thinking of buying a l22 model, so i want to know if
1. fingerprint working on cm or aosp roms?
2.the roms for l24 and other model are compatible with the l22 model?
3. finally, is there someone baking nougat for this device...
feeling very confused , please help me out

Yes,fp working on custom ROMs.
So many custom ROMs are there but less no of developers are there.
Honor said they will provide update for next 2 year but...there are better options in 12000 in India. Redmi note3 has awesome development. Resell value is good.
Sent from my KIW-L22 using XDA Free mobile app
If you are looking at a phone with good custom ROM support in future, turn to Xiaomi, becuase they use Qualcomm SoC mostly.
Huawei is and plans to use more and more Kirin SoC on its phones, which reduces the phone cost, but give developers less options...

My suggestion for you is to go for MI, if you need custom ROM development support.
If you are fond of Honor, then you can wait and get Honor 6X with Kirin Processor, Dual Camera which is expected to release in India by January.

OK I am going to revise my review, after using this phone for the day now its finally working I can actually test it with cyanogenmod.
The phone stock software is crap, dump it asap and flash cyanogenmod straight away,
The screen is very good and compared to my iphone 6 plus there isnt a lot in it, the 6plus has slightly better clarity on stuff like peoples hair but the pixel density is better but for a budget phone its very good.
I get excellent reports on my call quality, everyone says it sounds very clear,
the battery life isnt bad, I wish it had a removable battery but I am sure it will last a day,
The charging time is pretty quick but not with the stock charger, its only 1 amp with is paltry get a better charger if you want the phone to charge fast,
The screen on button is in a awkward place but I expect I will get used to it,
The Roms on this forum are very good generally and are a huge improvement on the crap Huawei ship it with,
The speaker is nice and loud and I hear all my notifications no problem.
The build quality is pretty good for a cheap phone, better than Samsungs plastic crap

lol.... its not like that... look at this phone. I was always developer friendly ... Only 5 people are contributing to this phone. No doubt this device had potential. CM has make this device what it is. Huawei is kinda bad when it comes to developers. I have seen 5x from days when huawei never gave christopher proper sources for 12.1. what i say is with wisdom.. sellling means selling this in half and then pouring more money...which is not i can do now. I will sell this baby when i have money...

Will the h7 receive the 5 January security update? Could be possible for a trusted developer to implement it in a custom Rom in a reasonable amount of time? Has finally come the day to change our phones?
