Does enabling on-screen navigation buttons by editing build.prop work in MIUI, or only in AOSP/CM ROMs? I tried it on my OnePlus 3 running MIUI 8, and it wouldn't boot, so I wanted to know if it works on the Redmi Note 3 Pro.
Alternatively, is it possible to switch the capacitive keys so that the back button is on the left and the recent apps button is on the right?

I really prefer to use my menu button as recent apps (long press for menu), and just have the 3-button overflow menu in app. At the same time, I'd much rather use a stock Samsung rom. It seems the only way to get this feature is to flash a CM based rom. Is there anyway around this?
Alternatively; is there a way to disable capacitive buttons in a rom completely? (Makes it easier to use PIE)
Hi all.
My Galaxy S2 is working fine (since 3 years now) but my home button works bad (some times yes, some times not). The problem comes from the button, not from my firmware ( i have tested many ROMs).
So, to buypass the problem, i activate the navigation bar to navigate like a Nexus. This mod of navigation is easy and i like it.
My question is : how to desactivate home button and hardware keys (and backlight keys) to just use navigation bar?
Thanks for your responses :good:
For more info, my actual ROM is Slimkat build 6.4 (Android 4.4.4) with sotck kernel
Nobody knows?
Any file system to edit?
I would like to try lineage 14 and 15 but both do not have the ability to modify the hardware keys back with menus. there is a solution .... thanks
Use button mapper app.from play store.
it does not work .... It would take a patch made by a good developer. I had one for 4 pro, but unfortunately it does not work on 4x notes

Wondering if there is a way to customize Nav keys.
See https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/themes-apps/how-to-change-navbar-buttons-huawei-t3435869 for an example with Huawei
Stock Le ROM had ability to configure long-press shortcuts for the three virtual buttons (Multitask, Home and Back).
Anything out there that can provide this functionality on top of the custom pixel exp ROM?
Hey hows everyone doing this morning?
My physical buttons for back and the other button at the bottom of my screen stopped work due to the bottom of the phone stopped working.
What Launcher or is there a way to turn on the On-Screen buttons for Back, Home, the other button ??
Resurrection Remix ROM allows adding on-screen nav bar buttons through the Customization options.
S9 Navigation bar has a lot of customisation options but I only tried it briefly before using the RR button customisation and with substratum themes.
If your phone is rooted, install xposed framework. Then install gravitybox. It will allow you to use navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
Add this to the bottom of your build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Open the sec_touchkey.kl file in ./system/usr/keylayout/
Put a # symbol before the both the following lines:
key 254 MENU VIRTUAL (depending on your rom, it might be set as 254 overlay virtual)
key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
Close, saving changes.
To restore the hardkeys at any time, just remove the # from both lines.
