Safe way to upgrade to marshmallow? - Sprint Note Edge Android Development

I recently just upgraded to 5.1.1 on my Note edge and was wondering if there was a safe way to upgrade to marshmallow without losing my root. I've seen people say you can use FlashFire to install an Android OTA update without losing root but I don't know If I can trust that. If somebody can let me know if FlashFire can upgrade my device without me losing root I would appreciate it.

I have a similar thread on this as well. I wanted to know if there was a way to safely upgrade to marshmallow from 4.4.4 without losing root. Links and suggestions would be great because the only thing I know of is to flash it to stock without root then update. Thanks

[Q] Traveling with Root

Hoping someone could answer a few questions I have for my Saferooted Samsung S4 MK2 4.3
I plan to take a business trip to Europe later this month. Does anyone know if I will run into issues not having the latest 4.4.2 update on my phone? I hate to guess that it'll be fine just to get over there and my phone not work but I also do not care for the idea of losing root because of having to update.
Being it's been over a year since I rooted the phone and I haven't been following this scene. I'm not sure what my options are as far as rooting the S4 with 4.4.2. still gotta search that one. I appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Can anyone help?
I see that rooting 4.4.2 is still not an option. Will I need to unroot and update?
If I were you, just to be safe I would upgrade to 4.4.2 and stay on stock rooted software while on the trip.
You can upgrade by flashing a no wipe or (recommended) full wipe nc5 tar file with Odin. You can't use an OTA update when you're rooted, it will fail.
You can root 4.4.2 using www.towelroot.com , one click and you're rooted basically
Thank you for replying joshm.
I will look at it now to figure out what to do. Hoping it's not too difficult.
Thanks again for the help.

[Q] Update to Lollipop from 4.4.2 NC5

I'm just your average Android enthusiast, not nearly as talented and skilled as you devs, but I know my way around my phone. I am currently rocking the Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 NC5 (Rooted with Towelroot and Safestrap 3.72 installed). I never thought highly of Samsung's user interface and have wanted to upgrade to CM forever, but as each new update comes I really, really want it, so I carelessly take the OTA. I've done this far too many times so I decided to disable the system update app so I wouldn't be bothered by the new updates that come around.
Anyway, I think it's time to upgrade to Lollipop now that it's available, but I really want to keep root access, and since you guys are the professionals, I want to know the best way to flash the new update instead of take the OTA, which, if I'm not mistaken, will let me keep root and the small possibility that I can get Cyanogen some day. Is it best for me to just go ahead and take the risk-free OTA update, or should I flash? If so, can someone guide me through the process? I'm sorry if this sounds like child's play to you but I don't want to brick my phone in any situation, so it'd be great if someone could help me with this. Thanks in advance!

Update: I followed a tutorial to update to OC1, but was not successful (Wouldn't boot). I used Odin to reflash the NC5 and now I'm back where I started. Anyone have an idea?
Here's the link to the tutorial:

Edit: Tried this twice, both didn't work. I'm considering just taking the OTA and not getting root. What should I do?

Help me rooting my phone

Hi everyone ?.
So I have been thinking and I want to root my Galaxy Alpha, something that I have been thinking by a long time... But I know absolutely nothing about root because I had never rooted a device ?. I want to root my device because people say that the real Android experience comes with root, I want to install some other roms (I'm bored of the original one) and I want to change the emojis too ?. But I really need help, I have some questions... After I root my device is there a possibility of revert everything and put it in the original form? (You know, if it needs to go to guaranty) and what are the worst parts of being rooted? (Security problems and everything?)?. After that how do I root my device? I have the SM-G850F Alpha unlocked. I'm in the 5.0.2 Android version (need another data? Please tell) and how do I install roms? Thanks for everything

Need advice... Should I update my 4.4.2 to Lolipop or Marshmallow?

My app I use Suntrust Bank will no longer work on Kit Kat so I have to update. I still have Knox but not even sure if it's worth worrying about on such an old phone as it's definitely under no warranty but keeping it would be nice as it does help prevent malicious boot apps.
So anyway should I jump to Marshmallow or am I better off with Lollipop? Which one is best to be running and still be able to root to use apps like Titanium Backup?
Please advise on what release I should update to and best method to update and still have root.
Thanks!:

Please help!

so i tried rooting my samsung galaxy s7 nougat with jrkruse root for oreo. so basically i didn't read because i was on a lack of sleep and thought that i would be able to gain full root access, well nougat didn't come with a root only a few mods and i think a custom ROM. well the problem is that i want to update to oreo so i can gain full root access but i cant OTA update because of the custom rom situation. so basically ive been trying to find a way if theres a way i could just reset my phone to a stock firmware or if theres a way i can force the update. please help with suggestions on the quickest way.
