I have a 4g 2nd gen boost mobile (Surnia), and so far, I've used windroid to unlock bootloader, twrp 4g recovery, and last step to root it (Flash Supersu), and I cant.
It puts it in recovery screen, where i press the power and up volume button, select apply update from sd card, and press to install supersu.zip
I get the error:
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Anyone can help me out? Thanks.
Flash Squid's custom TWRP recovery, preferably the 3.0.2-r1 version. Here's the link. This should resolve your issues.

Also, in TWRP settings, you can disable signature verification checking.

Hi everybody,
I know I'm not the only one who did this *stupid* thing :
I restored my stock ROM with sense and a OTA was available so I said yes... and Bam! Boot loop, and no more clockworkmod recovery, just the regular android recovery menu which is so skinny and the error "can't open /cache/recovery/command ...
I tried in that menu to install some custom roms I have, but all I get is the "signature failed" error. Even with a RUU stock ROM.
A second problem is that after many tries (of installing some .zip in the android recovery), and many reboots, when I try to install update.Zip, it returns an error like "Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (no such file or directory)
E: can't find /sdcard/update.zip
Installation aborted."
...and my sdcard works just fine with linux or Android, no data/partition loss ...
I just tried to create a goldcard but my phone is not listed in adb devices...
So the question is : What do I do ?? I tried almost everything (

I wish I could... As I said, the stock recovery doesn't even detect my SDcard... and I tried with 2 different SDcards (4GB and 16 GB, one of them freshly formatted, just in case)...
And I never saw THAT problem in the forum...
Concerning USB :
In fastboot mode, Windows detects when the phone is USB plugged, so I guess it's not USB bricked (?)
BUT when I try to install a RUU*.exe ROM, with the nice gui, it doesn't detect the phone (can't write to it actually).
And Unrevoked 3 doesn't detect the phone neither (I relaunched it hundreds of time, but no improvements), whereas it IS detected by Windows (and on the phone it says "Fastboot USB plugged")
What am I missing here ?
Oh, and I tried to upgrade HBOOT using alpharev's last image, but no SDcard detected...
I'm stuck !!!!
And I apologize for my english, I'm french so don't bother if I'm making some ugly sentences
anyone ??
please.. I just tried to create a goldcard but my phone is not listed in adb devices... it seems like i've got the wrong drivers installed, because USB device is detected, but my computer can't communicate with my phone...
I could really use some help here, and if I'm missing something, tell me...
OK ... how about some news ?
I managed to almost successfully install the RUU.exe from my pc to the HTC, but when it reboots, it's going back to hboot menu.
One thing changed although : it's now written "BRAVO Unknown Chip S-ON" on top of the menu (previously it was BRAVO PVT1 chip S-ON)
and my Hboot is now 0.75 ... but unrevoked still cannot see my device...
any idea, encouragements , insults, RTFM remarks, anything ??
Hello,
I see the Legend has now been added to the HTC Dev site, so we should be able to unlock our bootloaders.
I am wondering if anyone has tried this and will we still be able to root our phones with the updated software version required for the bootload unlock?
If you are able to use fastboot you can flash any recovery you want
fastboot recovery XY.img
With the recovery you can root with the official SuperUser Update zips...
Finally...
Gonna unlock it right away. This requires an update to 3.15.405.6 and than hboot_1.02.0000. Gonna report results later.
Okay, I waited for this soooo long.......
Thanks for posting!
I'm unlocking my hboot now
hello,
i have htc legend ( t-mobile NL ) what do i need to have?
edit : omg its all the same file :|
but after i do this i can use CyanogenMod ?
Once the update is installed and the bootloader has been unlocked (finish the steps on the htc dev site), run the "HTC Super tool v3" from you pc, select step 1, then step 3.

Hi there, need help on installing custom ROM on my Legend.
I just unlocked the bootloader on my Legend by using steps on HTC Dev site. I've run the HTC Super Tool v3 too (it said my Legend rooted successfully). Installed ROM Manager app from Market and done the Flash CWM Recovery. Checked the SD card, no update.zip file so I download and put the CWM Recovery zip file to my SD card, rename the file to "update"
Popped the SD card back, boot into bootloader, chose RECOVERY, then I pressed VLO UP + POWER, choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip", but it failed. Is there any step that maybe I missed?
Here's what it says:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Thanks for your help guys
EDIT: It wasn't fully rooted, just found out. Run the HTC Super Tool v3 again, now it's fully rooted (SU notifications now comes up), but still everytime I tried to flash a custom ROM using CWM, it always ends up with red triangle + exclamation mark. Dunno what to do now

Did you by any chance try googlin' the text in bold? Try it, it's fun!
Once you've unlocked the bootloader you can't use update.zip any more to load clockwork you need to flash a clockwork img file via fastboot. Have a look in the other threads about the bootloader all you need to know is there!
However once you've got the custom recovery flashed you can then load other fake flash version of clockwork mod from within.

Found out about the bootloader thread in HTC Legend General section. Thanks mate!!! Now I'm enjoying ogo2 RC4b GB 2.3.3 + Sense 2.1 ROM!!!!!
Hello,
I am a recent smartphone user and I did what good friends told me to do. So I rooted my phone and installed CWM recovery in order to change the bootloader and the logo. Not important changes but only to change the background of the logo and bootloader from white to black.
I haven't installed any ROM.
My phone is a ZOPO C3 - Android 4.2.1
SuperSU, MobileUncle and Root Explorer apps installed
Since a few days I have an "upgrade 1" available in the update system app. The upgrade is called "untrusted.zip.
When I try to install this upgrade, I get an error message at the bottom of the screen. Here the complete message:
"CWM-based recovery v.6.3.0.2"
"E: invalid command argument"
"Finding update package..."
"Opening update package..."
"Verifying update package..."
"E: signature verification failed"
Then I click to install "untrusted.zip" and the following is added to the message:
"Installing update..."
"Flashing logo..."
"Patched"
"Now you can reboot your phone".
After reboot the phone, the upgrade is still available. It seem not to have been applied.
Any idea what I missed please ?
as it says signature verification is failed hence the update was not installed
before selecting zip change the verification check in cwm-install zip from- here

one more thing I forgot
if it is a phone upgrade then it wont work with root you have to try any temporary unroot for installing that

I found the way to unroot via SuperSu but I have a problem for the rest. I can only start in recovery mode via MobileUncle Tools (Vol (+) + Power doesn't work) and if I do that, I don't see anywhere an option to check in. Only install ZIP file is allowed. May be it not that way you mean but sorry again I'm a beginner :silly:

I don't have a cwm zip (my cwm recovery file was an IMG file) and if I'm temporary unrootet, after applying the Upgrade file, it is still the same situation: after reboot, the upgrade is still there.

Hi all,
I've just received the update from Google and the Nexus 9 is just in an infinite look with the "No command".
I did never activate the developers option, so when I try adb is does not find the tablet. Only thing I've found is that I can boot to fastboot (power + vol up) and then Apply update from adb allows fastboot to access, although when I try to push a OTA it breaks after some minutes (maybe wrong usb cable ?)
Do I have any hope? I bought it in October to Google last year, it's probably out of warranty? I don't mind to play anyway, I have two weeks of holidays in front of me .
Thanks in advance.
If you didn't screw up recovery, there is a solution(for people in a similar situation).

2 things to consider: -
Are you using the correct OTA zip? (i.e. From your current version to next available version, not to the latest.)
Was the OTA zip corrupted while downloading.
Other than that maybe post your error in the linked thread.

Your system partition has probably been corrupted, maybe TRY to RMA it with google or where ever you bought it, if it is still in warranty?

You received error because you used the wrong OTA file (Blur_Version.27.211.6.griffin.retail.en.US.zip it's already installed on your phone if you re-locked it).
On the other topic I gave you the tutorial to sideload and the correct file to use, Blur_Version.27.231.8.griffin.retail.en.US.zip.
