I have a Galaxy S5 that was on the Verizon network. I now have it on the T-Mobile network with a T-Mobile sim but I still have all the Verizon crud.
I have it rooted and the bootloader unlocked. Can I just flash any T-Mobile stock/rooted rom and have it be a full T-Mobile phone?
I've rooted several Sprint & T-Mobile phone but have never done a carrier change. Currently it is on Verizon PB1 Lollipop.
Thanks to all.

Did you ever get it working?
No. It wasn't my phone but a friends. His main compliant was that it did not do location searches correct and I fixed that by adding the T-Mobile info. He said he would just leave the rest alone.
doesnt verizon lock its bootloaders? the device is different, it's not a G900T
slight success
i have flashed my Verizon s5 to the T-mobile based Twisted lollipop ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo.../rom-twi5ted-lollipop-5-0-v1-deviant-t3037766
i used this process because i had a stock 6.1 Verizon ROM which was crap.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
jrkruse, guide is really helpful along with the link above.
However, i have problems with the lock screen not loading and when i turn the brightness all the way down my screen flickers with a yellow hue until i turn up the brightness. I am lead to believe that the screen flickering yellow is a hardware problem with the screen. Nevertheless, i am trying to move to a stock T-mobile Rom now even though i don't have a t-mobile kernel.
I have verizon s5 I'm attempting to do the same too... If only we could change the baseband from verizon to tmobile? I have cid 15 chip and have done the unlock. Could there be a way?

Flash Verizon S5 to T-Mobile
I was able to get it working! I have unlocked my Verizon S5 boot loader following the directions from the Verizon S5 page under XDA. I then flashed the sm-t900 pg2 firmware with TWRP. Everything seems working fine.

Hey guys. I couldn't get AT&T to unlock my s3 so I downgraded to android 4.1.1 to do the free unlocking method. It worked, but my phone has AT&T apps in it, and when updating it says crap like updating from AT&T server or w/e.
When using ODIN, was I supposed to install the AT&T or the T-Mobile version of the 4.1.1 android?
I figured since it's an at&t phone I have to reinstall the at&t so it doesnt mess up the drivers or anything (I totally made up that conclusion myself).
Also, I don't get 4g LTE now and only get E internet. Do I have to do some settings so the phone cooperates with T-Mobile?
As always, thank you very much for the helping hands.

You're probably going to need to setup the apns for Tmobiles network to work for your phone fully.
It automatically made one called tmobile but I dont know if I have to edit it.
Was I supposed to install android 4.1.1 for at&t or tmobile?

As far as i know you should be fine on the at&t rom, You're just going to need to edit those apns probably.

Well, how about this? I install the T-Mobile rom. Shouldn't that have the proper apns?
Now another question comes to mind. Since this is originally an at&t phone, will installing the T-Mobile rom mess it up?
Anyone? Help plz
I recently unlocked and rooted my AT&T Galaxy S5 to use on T-Mobile network. However I still have AT&T firmware on the phone, and I'd really like to flash cyanogenmod, or at at the very least stock T-Mobile. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

Don't know if there is a Cyogenmod available for your model (SM-G900A) but there is an AllianceRom which is built off the T-mobile SM-G900T firmware which will work on the AT&T S5. However, since that version of the S5 has a locked bootloader you will need to use Safestrap Recovery instead of TWRP. You might want to look among the threads in the AT&T S5 area of this forum for more information and maybe ask your question there. I brought my unlocked AT&T S5 over to T-mobile and used it for a few months before getting a T-mobile S5. AT&T stock s5 firmware worked fine. I also did try out AllianceRom on that phone briefly but stick with stock. I don't think rom slots ever got fixed on Safestrap so only the stock rom slot could be used for flashing which is one of the reasons I chose to stick with stock on that phone.

i have a Verizon s4 . its unlocked. i am using it in india . i cant find any lollipop firmware without Verizon carrier . how do i upgrade my device to 5.0 ?
I'm guessing you want t update to lolipop but can't because Verizon isn't in India? There's Muniz's rooted stock OF1 in the general section.

thank you for your help i am new to flashing . can you give me link please . i don't know what is munzi or of1 . . can i flash it with Odin ? is it safe like original roms?
are you rooted? If not could you tell me which build number your phone is currently at?
As for Muniz, he's a guy who works on rooting our galaxy s4 =)
the latest build for verizon galaxy s4 ends in OF1. it is Android Lolipop, 5.0.1
his instructions are here.
you'll need root to follow the directions.

from the looks of things , this looks risky . i would rather have a unbricked s4 without lollipop thanks for your help. is it possible to root s4 with iroot ?
It's not really that risky.
best way to root kitkat Verizon galaxy s4 is to use towelroot with NC5 build kernal
Verizon's Galaxy s4 is supposed to be unlocked by default, its just rooting is an option just in case you dont like the look of the s4's lolipop. if you want just complete current stock lolipop build OF1 you can download it here and use ODIN to flash, or just use Samsung kies software.
just so you know if you use the sammobile method or kies method to update to lolipop, you cannot go back down to kitkat. Muniz's method with root allows you to return to kitkat builds if you so desire.
by the way what happens when we flash a rom with carrier to a unlocked phone ?

wait a minute . the link you just send me . . isn't it a rom with Verizon carrier . my phone will remain unlocked if i flash it ?????
You do realize that Verizon phones are supposed to be GSM unlocked by default due to some agreement with FCC for their bands?
From here
Unlocking a Verizon phone
Even though Verizon uses CDMA instead of GSM, most of Big Red’s devices come with an unlocked SIM card slot. According to Verizon, its 4G LTE devices aren’t locked and, if you want to bring one of them to another carrier, there is no code needed to program the phone to play nice with it.
However, even though SIM-equipped Verizon phones can be used on AT&T, T-Mobile, or other GSM carriers, the phone will need to have roaming GSM radios in order to make phone calls and send texts in the United States. While most recent Verizon handsets will work just fine on American GSM bands, your mileage will vary when it comes to LTE support.
Even though Verizon doesn’t have an online unlock request, you can call 1-800-711-8300 and request a SIM unlock.

sorry for my lack of knowledge . i didn't know that . i bought it from my friend . i thought it was locked by verizon and he got it unlocked for Indian sims .
well, then the choice is yours, you can root your phone and use muniz's method to allow you the option of going back to kitkat if you desire, or just use normal methods like samsung kies to update normally, which will lock the bootloader so you can't downgrade.
As for me, I'm going to(try to) sleep. 3 AM here X(

well... if it was one of those international versions of the galaxy s4 like the GT-I9500, then you'd probably brick it by flashing a rom for a carrier version like the SCH-i545. or at the very least softbrick it.
I think unlocking phones is something more hard coded than the rom itself. cause, even if for example you have a att phone unlocked, it still has a att rom, and should be able to update the rom while using an att sim
though in your case, I have a feeling whoever "unlocked" your phone never bothered anything other than change the APN settings to that of whatever Indian carrier you were using.
your phone shoulnt have any problems with flashing an update via kies.
check your build number under settings> more> about phone. if they match any of the PDA here, you're on stock. using network signal info app in the play store can also tell you the build number (build ID) and bootloader.
though if your phone doesn't say "custom" when you boot it from power'ed off, that you're probably on a stock rom with no root

contact TMobile Technical support for the MMS portion, the sim should be encoded already for it but if not the mms number might need to be changed on the phone

Hey guys,
I have a SM-G900P and went through a lot of steps to get it properly working, at the best you will be able to get HSPA+ and if you do get LTE it will randomly go back to HSPA+ until you toggle airplane mode again. I now use a SM-G900T because of this very issue.
How I unlocked it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/sm-g900p-straight-talk-att-t3331284
IDoneApps App
Had to enable the "GCF Setting" on the phone.
Me attempting to force enable GSM LTE bands on this phone: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-sm-g900p-lte-band-t3333760
I had a similar issue when I took my verizon s5 over to tmobile. There was an exploit to get the unlocked Dev bootloader, once I did that I was able to flash a tmobile stock rom and wifi calling and LTE started working normally. Here is a link to what I did to get it working on my phone. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71697776&postcount=280
I bought and unlocked Galaxy S7 to get service on Tmobile network and the phone works fine but is an AT&T phone with
all the accompanying bloatware. I am in a bad cellular area for tmobile and depend on wifi calling as the signal is very weak.
The wifi calling on my purchased phone is grayed out which i found out through forums that AT&T has something to do with this.
I decided to root my phone and load firmware to Tmobile but have only found the process and firmware SM-G930T and not SM-G891T. The phone currently has SM-G891A, which is AT&T 's firmware. Baseband version G891AUCS4DRK1. I haven't been to find the right firmware for my phone. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Are you sure you didn't confuse device version with firmware version? SM-G891A
Is not a firmware, it's your phone model, which is of course galaxy S7.
But anyway, there is not Tmobile firmware for that model. Only 930T as you said.maybe could be possible to port the rom.
Can I use the firmware for the sm-g930t on the sm- g891a

I wouldn't recommend to flash it yet. Processors should be the same, as well as the screen size, for flash a different rom.

If battery isn't the same, power consumption could burn the phone.
