I've been working on trying to get Cyangenmod installed for several days now, off and on. So far I haven't bricked my Gpad, but have had some harrowing issues -- like the Play Store no longer works, and I have no internet browsers left on the gpad. But no matter, I have an SD card and have been transferring apk's and other files that way.
Anyway, I think I am close, but not quite there. Currently the status is I have root access, I have Flashify and Titanium Pro and TWRP all installed on the phone. I have the latest Cyangenmod .img and .zip files for my tablet model (installed in internal SDCARD folder). I tried pointing Flashify to the .zip file I downloaded and it first asked if it should copy the file to a "Safe" location -- I said sure, go ahead. IT returned with an unsuccessful message. So I thought "screw it" and just went ahead without saving it. At this point it appeared to work, I saw the "DOS-like" scroll of text with a volume-button menu of options. I just chose reboot, and the tablet rebooted -- but nothing was changed. Still have the LG and ATT screens, no Play Store, etc.
So obviously I chose something wrong. What is it? I don't know how to use TWRP first if needed, I was trying to Flashify the Cyangenmod .zip file first and then start looking into TWRP. Do I need to do something with TWRP first?
At this point I don't know enough to ask the right questions, but need some kind of boost to get Cyangenmod running on my phone. Any help appreciated.
Any advice?
Any suggestion to solve the problem?
Now that everyone is sending back their recalled Samsung Note phones, does anyone have time to help out here?
Use Flashify to install TWRP. You can then boot to recovery from Flashify and then use TWRP to make a backup and then install the rom zip and Gapps zip from there after performing a factory reset. It's usually recommended to wipe the system too to prepare for a complete clean install. I'd make sure that you have everything backed up to a computer that might be important as well as the original firmware downloaded, in case something goes wrong and you need to start over.
Thanks for the reply. I figured out the problem -- it was that the word "recovery" in Android-speak is not a verb -- it is a noun. I needed to install the "recovery file" and point Flashify to it, once I did that everything clicked into place and it booted up Cyangenmod.
I doubt many people are reading this (given the response rate) but to the moderators of xda, I suggest you put one "quick steps and necessary apps" on the home page of the site in a highly prominent place. xda is full of all sorts of great info, and if you are an advanced user this may be heaven -- but noobies like myself cannot see the forest for the trees. There are actually too many starting places, and many of them are hard to find. There are dozens of forums, ads flashing left and right -- it is like trying to go fishing in a disco.
Having said that, I do appreciate the info I was able to find and piece together.

Hey guys I'm pretty new here and i wanted to get some feedback, did not find any similar topics around.
I want to root my NT 16gb but i see a lot of different methods and ways to perform it, whats the best way of going?
CM9 or CM7?
Easiest method to do it?
i got a 16gb microSD also!
Any opinions?
THANK YOU!
Rooting and applying a custom rom like cm7 or cm9 do not necessarily go together, an unfortunate assumption many new android users make. The former allows you root access and thus you can do things with the device you otherwise would not have been able to do. Flashing a custom rom will literally change the operating system entirely. Both are also completely reversible. So the question is, what do you want? Root access or a new OS entirely (note that custom roms almost always have root access).

I'm fairly new at this also, got my 16G NT (1.4.1) a couple days ago, and I'll tell you what I did. At first, I rooted it because I wanted (at least) access to the Kindle reader, but the google market/play is not available so B&N could control it. Rooting AND installing google apps (aka gapps) give you the market and more. From there you can install the go launcher and have a pretty nice overlay that looks ICS-like. Here's what I used and it seemed to go pretty smooth:
Part 1:
This thread by the developer Indirect shows how to do the root along with gaaps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466583
And here is an invaluable video from albertwertz that goes along with it. This helped me get the confidence to do it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I403bagL9rw
He has an update to this show at the beginning of the video, but I did not use that.
The secret sauce is in making a bootable SD card with both the image that gives you CWM (clockworks mod), which is basically a loader that allow you to then load the .zip file which contains the root and gapps files.
After I went through the process, nothing seemed to have changed at all on the NT, but after some head scratching I realized that gapps is the key and it had in fact been loaded. So hit the home button and then search and type in market. Voila, the google market is now there and you can download anything that is compatible with the NT (like kindle and the go launcher).
Part 2.
The go launcher is great, but everytime I hit home, I had to navigate to the go launcher and launch the nicer ics-like skin, so I decided to go for CM9. I'm not at all disappointed that I did. Netflix does not work, but seemingly everything else does and does nicely. Here's how:
Basically, you just need to get the CM9.003 file, and "flash" that just as you flashed the root and google apps zip. I'm sure you have figured out by now that flashing just means loading the new program into "flash" memory, which is just a read/write memory that is non-volatile. (does not erase at power down).
What I wound up up doing is placing the CM9 zip file on a separate SD card, then used the one I originally used for rooting to get into the CWM recovery program. Once there, pop it out and insert the CM9 zip and run that one from CWM. Reboot and you're running Android 4.0.4.
Here's the link for the CM9 install, courtesy of developer chrmhoffmann:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534192
Here's a link to the CM9 zip:
http://goo.im/devs/chrmhoffmann/cm9/update-cm9-acclaim-alpha0.03-fullofbugs.zip
One more thing: You actually should put two zips on that 2nd SD, the 2nd one being google apps (aka gapps), as for some reason it is not included in the CM9 zip as it was in step 1. Here's the link to that file:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version/Google_Apps
It's the app for CM9, and just in case, here's the download link:
http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip
So now you have 2 zips on the 2nd SD card. Run them both, first the CM9 zip and then the gapps zip, reboot.
Sorry that's so long, but that's what I did and it worked out well for me once I figured it out...
---------- Post added at 04:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:07 PM ----------
One more thing. When you get into the CWM recovery program (the one you'll see when you boot from the 1st SD card, don't forget to run a backup of the original ROM, IE the factory version in case you want to go back.
I'm not an expert on the backup and recover process, and there apparently other ways to restore to the original NT 1.4.0 or 1.4.1, but I would do that anyway...
I wanted to say "very good" ! . and a note that i think should be added... is the importance of wiping the dalvik and the data cache within the flash process. . lots of people get clobbered by this ommission.

Allow me to explain. Gapps, or google apps are a seperate package of apps created by google. They are not apps that are included with "pure" Android and thus Google does not want them included with roms for whatever legal reasons. They were included in the step 1 you gave because that is simply rooting. Rooting and throwing apps onto a rom like the stock version is not flashing a custom ROM. In fact its no different than if a developer were to release a custom rom that didnt have root access, but someone wrote a script that gave you root access and installed those google apps.
tl;dr gapps are legally required to be a separate package from custom roms.
Hey Guys,
I have a couple questions about this android box I purchased that's had me somewhat puzzled.
I have been an avid android user over the past many years. I am familiar with flashing tons of roms to all the phones I have had. Except my s6, it just sucks for roms. Anyways I have purchased the android box in this link (can't post links this new) I can't seem to fine a manufacturer website, I've Google a million things about the box and searched but I can't find anything. even in the instruction book there's no website or anything.
basically I'm looking to figure out how to at least update this box. there's no option in about device. also I don't like how the flash drive on the device is split into nand flash and regular storage. I would like to merge them all into one. I am also looking for custom roms that might enable me to achieve that, however nowhere I look has this box in their forums or anywhere. maybe it's a cloned box? there are other boxes that have the exact same components (or so they say) with custom firmware, however I don't want to chance it and rich bricking this device.
anyone that can offer any help or lead me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance!

I just picked up one of these about a week ago and found instructions to install TWRP and update SuperSU. The box had 'root' out of the box but it was some specialized root based on an old version of SuperSU (1.93 I believe).
I have successfully installed TWRP 2.8.7.0 and updated to SuperSU 2.46.
Since this is just an android tablet essentially, does anyone know if you can flash these ROMs through TWRP?
Not to my knowledge, just use above tool. It will go alive once you are in bootloader with usb otg cable connected to win (of course with driver pack etc. installed). Titanium or else can do that, instead of trying to press reset button while powering on. Of course recovery will go back to default.

Are you running liamstears custom ROM or the 12/22 factory firmware?
The split internal storage is something I would like to do without, but I was wondering if it was changed on the 12/22 factory firmware?
12/22 firmware. Fast and stable.
Havent tried liamstears yet. Feedback if you do please.
awesome thanks! thats what I suspected when I was going through the firmwares for these devices. I just wasn't sure if the z4 rk3368 device would work on this one. I've seen a few brands with z4 and as I know with phones.. wrong brand and you're bricked lol. anyways.. I ended up buying a tronsmart vega s95 telos.. but it didn't come rooted. so I rooted it and now I'm getting play services force close and all sorts of bugs and errors.. maybe I'll just keep the z4. it seems to work better.
what link did you follow to get twrp installed?? same thing I'm guessing, punch z4 twrp in google and eventually come upon the right place.
12/22 factory firmware? mines stuck at Nov 10 I think.. it won't let me update using the rk settings app.. which is why I was fed up with it in the first place lol.
12/22 firmware. Unified 16gb App storage. More available with microsd card. Fully functional Kodi with channels, etc. 4k HEVC x265 movies. Youtube 1080p.
Easiest method to update rom is to put extracted update.img from zip file
http://chinagadgetsreviews.blogspot.ro/2016/01/download-latest-android-lollipop-511.html?m=1
on a sdcard / usb and boot. After about a minute into the Android desktop, system will ask for update prompt. Only applicable to system still with default recovery.
If you have some stability issues or with different recovery, you can backup your apps / data with Titanium etc. and then use above Factory tool restore new rom.
These roms usually come with their own recovery, but some modded ones with TWRP/full root, supersu and all. But you dont really need them.
thanks a lot man! I'm downloading right now and will test it on my box tomorrow after work!
I've tried 100 times and it just keeps saying failed to mount /mnt/external_sd (no such device)
I'm using my USB flash drive.
this is becomming a huge pain in the just to update I'm starting to think why this company can make these products and not have any support or anything for it . and that flash tool is in mandarin and I can't even figure out how to work that. I put in the update.img and press go.. but whenever I try to boot to download mode like you mentioned in one of the posts it just turns off the box.. this thing is literally a piece of junk. and so is this tronsmart vega s95.. same thing. it's extremely frustrating. whoever developed this z4 box did a really chappy job on the firmware.. and I do not recommend it to anyone..
If you had gone through the instructions pdf, it clearly shows how to change into English by pressing the World icon. Remember in bootloader mode the tv screen would be black, if you are using the tool. The big red button will turn into green to show readiness.
For automatic update you dont even have to go into recovery as seen in attached image. Easiest.
Hi Roland,
love to see that there are already XDA-members looking at the Z4 TV box. I have just ordered one and hope to get it within a few weeks. Just some dumb questions, hoping you can provide me with some information:
- I see that there are several 'versions' of the Z4: for instance Acemax, but I have ordered the Andoer. Are those just different manufacturers?
- Are there any differences in model/content (installed app's) per manufacturer?
- If my Andoer turned out to have an older firmware than the 22/12, could I still use the Acemax 22/12 firmware you refered to in your link?
- Kodi will be preinstalled, I saw. I do not know what version of Kodi that will be, but can it just be updated to the most recent version in the Google Play Store?
- I do not know what other apps are installed, but is it possible to de-install apps you do not need, or are they part of the firmware and impossible to delete
I know, part of the answers I surely will discover once I got the Z4, but I just can't wait to start experimenting, even it is only in my mind
Thanks in advance!
Jos
hi Roland
I tried that batch tool first which is the one I couldn't change languages in lol. but the other tool with the red button I changed into English. however I did not know that it would remain blank when in download mode. I will have to give it one more go tonight with it. I figured that I loaded it into bootloader and the z4 box light turned red so I thought it was off and didn't load to bootloader.
I also did the USB update and it would just fail on me every time I used it. the update prompt did come up and I pressed install. perhaps I need to check if USB debugging is on. I think it is but it wouldn't hurt to check. but I think I will have to go through the factory tool to update way for sure.
thanks for your help roland, I will write back after I give it another go tonight!
i can't find the 22/12 update ! can anybody share the link direct to firmware ?
@DriftJos
l have got an Andoer too. Most of these brands come from the same hardware factory and thus have the same specs/apps.
Yes you will use the same firmware https://mega.nz/#!JBBXgDgC!VSra8Hc6KR77Pvdw67eDpjeT_ku-TXdYgYaInSAfyvU (direct link @prisim) or several user dev roms. Unified 16gb app storage etc and the works.
You can uninstall bundled Kodi (by Titanium free etc.) by official Kodi Jarvis 16.0 beta 5 & such with pass-through support test builds @ http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=252852
Again you will be able to uninstall useless apps directly or through Titanium.

Always mention the firmware version you are having and which recovery? The automatic update should work if you still have the factory recovery.
Check the FactoryTool process in attached images.
I'm trying to flash the firmware that I downloaded from that China gadgets site that was mentioned on this thread. I think it's the stock 12/22 for the device. and I have stock recovery.
I extracted the update.exe file and saved it to my USB drive plugged it in and restarted. relieved the update prompt. chose install update and it rebooted into recovery and tried to apply the update but it fails. I'm not ready to give up yet with this device lol. it's just another platform I have to learn. it took me a bit with smartphones to figure it out back in the day.. perhaps it's the same thing now..
and I'm updated to 12/22.. awesome. those pictures really helped me man thanks.
now as for installing twrp and all that. you mentioned that it's not really needed? I'm assuming I can flash any rom given they are in .img format using factory tool. however the benefit of twrp would be an easier interface for creating nandroid backups and clearing cache/factory reset. perhaps I will install it. i might give leamstears rom a try. I will let you know how it is if I do.
thanks again!
so I updated to the new 12/22.. everything works fine except with Google play store.. I keep getting a can't retrieve source error with everything I try to download. I've refreshed and factory reset the firmware 5 times now and kept trying.
so I got fed up with the stock so I tried leamstears rom and it works great.. except sometimes it just becomes completely unresponsive. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with this box. even on stock firmware from the box I've been having issues with unresponsive freezing.
what do you think of the nvidia shield?

The PlayStore error you were seeing is because the 12/22 firmware comes with a *very* old version (5.2.x). The PlayStore will eventually update everything to the latest version by itself but if you don't want to wait, go over to apkmirror.com and download PlayStore 6.0.5 and install it manually. Once you do, it should also update the Play Services to 8.4.x and your should be good to go. I had this issue as well but I had seen it before and knew I needed to update.
So far the 12/22 version has been great, and having the unified internal storage is a huge plus.
If you feel so inclined, knowing that some of the custom builds of Kodi take up a large amount of space... there is this trick that was introduced in Helix:
http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Change data location for Android
This will allow you to have only the Kodi app on internal storage (~125 MB) and any data from addons/programs etc. in another location (such as an external SD).
I often
1. Install Kodi on internal storage
2. Zip up the contents of org.xbmc.com directory
3. Copy it to external storage
4. Unzip it in /external_sd/kodi_data
5. Create the xbmc_env.properties file that references my Kodi data location.
6. Delete the contents of /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.com/
Voila! You have freed up internal storage.... You can also persist a Kodi setup this way or run multiple custom installs. If you re-image your media box, you can re-install Kodi and as long as the xbmc_env.properties points to your external_sd with your Kodi data, it will start right up back into your setup... :good:
So... I have an Archos 55 and well, root is dangerous, particularly when you're being annoyed with pop up adverts and want to get them gone.
TL;DR:
So basically this all started when I found that web pages and adverts were just opening. Whether I was using the device or not, they'd just magically appear, sometimes ten at a time, accessing the internet at will. I was not best pleased as I have not long purchased the phone, but true to form, Archos have no idea what customer service means, so I was left to attempt to remedy the situation myself. Ordinarily, I would have just formatted and reinstalled the O.S, I do that with linux all the time alas I knew that was difficult.
Instead I sought to find out what exactly was causing the adverts. I deleted all the apps I had installed, but still the adverts kept coming. I did a factory wipe. Still with the adverts. At this point I was a bit stuck, so I grabbed an anti-virus app. It showed a few things that were causing problems including one trojan, under com.android.settings (or something to that name). I made a few enquiries and needless to say, this wasn't a false positive, but it had meant that I had a trojan...and I really don't like trojans. Cue the rage and the not thinking properly as I deleted com.android.settings without making a backup thinking... "shouldn't be too hard to put back"...oh how wrong I was...
I of course tried to make amends by grabbing a "copy" of settings from another site (and possibly a different phone) but I was told that it was ROM and no amount of permission changing was going to change that (I tried and I apparently failed, I may have possibly been doing something wrong, but I don't think my chown/chmod skills are `that` shabby).
The problem:
- No access to settings. Settings doesn't exist. (No access to USB Debugging either because that requires tapping the about phone bit and guess what...)
- Can't install apps as something has "Stopped".
- No access to WiFi
- Using Linux (Ubuntu something or other...15 I think).
- Mobile Tinkering Newb (But I'm not totally tech illiterate).
I do have access to fastboot mode apparently.
So what I think I need is a way to reinstall lollipop 5.1 so I can get back to square one, without (at least initially) using ADB (because I've tried and my device just refuses to show). I've also tried a few "needrom" things but, of course, they don't work because linux.
If anyone could possibly help me, I would be greatly appreciative in any way. I just want wifi back really. (I can see that wifi works and a network is available I just can't edit the settings to access it). If I can provide more information, please ask and I shall provide.
[SOLUTION]
Back up your device <- Essential
Grab a rom from NeedRom
Enable Fastboot.
Enable USB Debugging etcetera.
Use custom software (provided by NeedRom) (I know this seems dodgy but you try anything when you're desperate enough and this works so...if you're worried then take precautions and make a backup of your own phone first.) to open up the .pac file. Check where the files have been opened up to.
Copy the files to a more stable area (i.e from Temp to your Data drive), they should be in .img format as .pac basically appears to be some kind of archive that groups them all into one.
Use Fastboot (you might need to enable this so make sure you do it) and flash the .img files to the phone and sparse them to about 250MB.
Restart the phone.
Check phone works properly.
If works properly, consider donating to NeedRom.
Anyone?
Trojan
I have the same problem, but I didn't uninstall the setting, did your Trojan installed random apps too? Like MyApps or something like that?
Seeing the same problem I think the problem is that the device comes with it, but I haven't found anything else to do apart from installing avast to tell me when unknown sources get on to install a random app.

Hi! How did you solve the problem? Please let me know
It appears to involve installing an apk installer from the Google Play stores (any will do it seems). Then by installing a copy of the Settings.apk.
Neither of which I am able to do as, due to getting rid of settings Google Play won't work. So....
Edit. I managed to get Google Play installed and then installed an APK installer. However installing settings is restricted as security won't let me install unofficial apps. >.>

Hi,
What you have here is a virus.... and like me, it's probably embedded in settings. I.e It comes with the device.
There is no way to get rid of those adverts....except...by voiding your warranty. You will need to wipe your device and reinstall a rom, preferably not your original. (That or send it back to Archos). Taking your phone back to the store and demanding a refund is an option before I proceed further and this is the solution I recommend.
Take this moment to back up all your data.
What I did however and what seems to have gotten rid of them is firstly head over to NeedRom (search) and acquire a freely provided Rom of someone else's phone. There are two versions for the Archos Platinum 55 and it will depend on your specific phone.
Now you will need to flash (this will destroy all data on your phone so make sure you get it backed up) your rom. You can use the ADB solution but that couldn't work for me. So I used Fastboot instead, however to use this the rom provided by needrom is in a .pac file format, you need to get the .img file from it. You can do this by loading up the software provided by NeedRom (named FactoryUpload or something like that) load the .pac file and look at the file path locations. The one I checked was for System. I then went to where it said it was, in my case a Temp folder, copied and pasted all the data to somewhere not temp (all the .img files I needed were there).
Then I used Fastboot to flash the rom entirely there are much better Fastboot tutorials out there than I can explain myself. This flash included System, Recovery, Cache and basically everything, however it wouldn't let me do it all at once. I had to use a particular "flag" or "switch" so that it would `sparse` all the files over 250MB (that was the number I chose) and it worked after that.
This is the only way without returning the phone to get rid of the adverts *if* the virus is indeed in Settings. There's no way to remove Settings safely. I tried.
Ok, first of all, I wouldn't be asking this if I knew an answer or found one. I searched and tried so many ways, even experimented my own lol.
Story. I have a OnePlus One, which means I had CM installed. It was great but last year I wanted to try something different so I try I changed the room. No visible problem.
Then, my phone got slow and wanted to do a complete wipe of it. So I went to TWRP and try to flash something: result = BRICK.
Somehow solved and went to stock CM (12 I believe), and after some time I convinced myself not to give up and try again so I did.
Installed Resurrection Remix after unlocking and rooting via TWRP but I got caught into and infinity loop in the boot animation.
So I went back to recovery and wiped everything, and I mean everything. I wanted to do it from scratch (except the USB option) and I had read something about the FORMAT option in te TWRP advanced options in WIPE, so I went for it and then FLASHED from ADB SIDELOAD pushing the room and gapps mini (it wouldn't let me install bigger option than MINI) and wiped cache and delvik-cache and rebooted to system. Everything seemed to be working fine., but then I realised I couldn't install some apps from playstore so I went around it downloading some APK's and STORES and install them from other stores, but then I realized I couldn't take any screenshot saying I didn't have space (I got the 64GB version) but it wasn't the issue. I went to the File Explorer and checked permissions, everything was own by ROOT user.
So I did it again, wipe, flash, format, but it wouldn't work.
I've looked for any option but nothing seems to be working. Can get the USER folder to appear and can't use MTP with my computer since I don't have permissions. The only way to get files into my device is by PUSHING them. The phone is working with RR on it.
Any ideas?
I appreciate so much your help and hope be posting this the right way. Also, apologize for my English in advance if I had any mistakes (or will have lol)
Case solved!
Just for you to know! It seems I solved my problem.
@osm0sis is the guy who gave us a flashable script but the solution that actually saved me is the one from @xak944
So thank you very much. I give you the link where you can find the solution in case you have the same problem.
Regards.

Followed all the steps in the detailed "[HOW-TO] Installing AOSP Android 7.0 "Nougat" Internally on the 16 GB Nook Tablet". During the process I was unable to install the suggested open_gapps-arm64-7.0. Tried several times, so right now I ended up with a mean and lean android system with 3 icons on the home screen. .
I'm a beginner doing this. So I attempted to copy superuser apk and the play store apk via usb connection to no avail. Don't even know where they ended up. I'm able to do a google search but it does not retain any bookmarks I'll be making, the reason being explained as I'll need an updated bookmark apk. (Which one??) and how do I install that?
Anyone out ther who can guide me in the right direction? Much appreciated. I do understand a little of the jargon being used in the forums here.

I'm sorry to tell you that those are the wrong GApps for the hardware. I will update the original instructions. What you need are the arm GApps, not the arm64 (remember, this is OLD hardware). The filename of the zip I used is open_gapps-arm-7.0-pico-20170310.zip
At this point, having done some fooling with the system, it's best to start the entire process over. That will give you the most stable result. You cannot install the PlayStore and have it function without GApps, so just forget that part. The superuser file I mentioned is a must, once you get the PlayStore working.
The Bookmark provider apk is already on the device. Re-read the second post in the instructions. You just have to tap to install it, for some unknown reason.
Thank so much for your quick response. You were absolutely correct that I was installing the wrong gapps, so I started over again with the 7.0 stock (error message), the nano (same thing) and finally the pico and that one worked. By that time I hit the sack. I found that out shortly after I posted the message. I kept reading and reading the instructions and completely overlooked the GAPPS choices I had. Even a very cryptic error message popped up that said something about "incompatible" and "arm". Duhh. So what I'm going to do is wipe it clean again (3rd time) and reinstall everything so I can do it in my sleep.

If you reformatted data as f2s, you might need to change it back to ext4 before you can do a successful wipe. Just a thought.

I'm lost. All I did during the previous wipes, went into Advanced Wipes and cleaned out everything. Did.n't format. So are you saying I format first (ext4) and then do a complete wipe? The last time I booted it seemed to be very unstable. Looked like an invisible finger was touching the screen. Jumped all over the place.

OK, I read your instructions again and think I know how to go about it. If all goe well during the installation ad it still seems unstable when booting I might ask for help again.
Thank you

Me again. Everyting installed without a problem. Was able to get a couple apk from google plastore. Having said that, I also installed ES filemanager thinking it would give me root access. (no go.) No option under the developers option either. So gave up on that. Also I noticed that depending what apk I loade, the response time was rather slow. Also for no reason at all it came randomy up with "shutting down" messages. And it seems to execute some stored touch screens as it was going all over the place. At this point I'm going to be looking for something else. Again thank you for your help

Sorry it didn't work out for you. It continues to perform very well for me. Seems like each piece of hardware has its own quirks.
Is this for the Nook 2016 or 2018 hardware versions, or does it work with both?

Are you talking about the firmware upgrades for the original Nook Tablet or thinking about the various newer devices called by the same name?
This is for the OLD Nook Tablet BNTV250.
