Change Hero's resolution?

Hey all, I'm getting a Hero soon and I want to know if there's a way to change the resolution of the Hero?
I now own a HTC Diamond2 which is almost 1:1 to the Hero hardware and it uses a 480 x 800 resolution.
And now since Android 2.0 is out it supports bigger resolutions... so the question is - is it possible to change Hero's 320 x 480 resolution to 480 x 800?
Hello,
I just bought a new VW beetle, but my friend has a Porsche. Is there any way to make my VW run 300kph like the Porsche does?
OP, I hope this is a joke. For your sake, and humanity's.
no problem, just put the diamond on top of the hero and push really hard.
you can also use your fullhd tv to get fullhd on the hero, but you need really high pressure then...
lol this made my day...

****ing hell guys... A little harsh? He was only asking a simple question.
The answer is no, unfortunately the screen itself is different to the Diamonds and won't support the higher resolution.

Thanks for the answer. I just thought it's up to the software/OS...
the dimond is not 480x800
it is 480x640
But he wrote Diamond 2, so 480*800 is right.
Just FYI, LCD displays (and all flat displays regardless of type) cannot magically add resolution to themselves.
An LCD screen is a grid of lights. With a 480x800 LCD, there is a grid of 384,000 extremely small light bulbs, arranged in a grid 480 lights wide and 800 lights high. If you give the screen anything more or less than a 480x800 picture, it will convert the picture into 480x800, losing detail in the process.
In televisions, a 720p television (1280x720) can still accept a 1080p picture (1920x1080); it has hardware that will convert the image to the right resolution. If you bought a 1080p television instead, it would display the picture as intended.
I hope that, now you know how LCDs work, that you know how much of an idiot you made yourself look. No offence. We all have to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

Any difference b/w 1920x 1080 and 800x 480

Hello guys I've been converting my videos to 800x480 for awhile and their all fine. I was wondering if I convert them to 1920x1080 would there be a significant difference since the SGSII's native resolution is 800x480. Thanks for answering my question. Oh yeah the resolution the videos come in are usually low quality like 704x400 usually in .rmvb format. Sometimes I do download 720p videos and convert them to 800x480.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I've been converting mine as well, no difference at all. I just maintain the bitrate and it also reduces the file size.
GS II's screen resolution is 480x800. So anything above that resolution is practically meaningless, let alone 720P or 1080P.
Regards.
I can argue about that.

[Q] Screen Resolution !!

I am new to samsung, i want to buy samsung galaxy 3 but when i check the specification, i saw that it has 720 x 1280 pixels,
how can i play videos thats 320*240 pixels, or 640*360 pixels, it seems loosy!!!
how can i play videos without loosing the pixels???, give me solution?
and why samsung creates high resolution mobiles like that!!!
Videos of lower resolutions will be scaled to fit the display in most android video players.

LG V30 Adjust Screen Resolution

Hi,
1st off I love this phone. I am extremely pleased and have zero complaints so far. Buttery smooth too....
My Question is how is it possible that the screen resolution is adjustable? Does the display turn off pixels? Does it merge pixels? Please enlighten me..
Thanks,
Joel
I'm pretty sure it must be 'rooted' first to allow those changes.

Sorry even though u r pretty sure. This info is wrong. U DON'T need root. Just like samsung graxe ui. On LG V30 u go to display - screen resolution and switch between 720,1080 or qhd+.
But the OP never asked if changing resolution was possible. He most know that we can already change res in the setting. What he is asking is HOW does lowering resolution works.
Im not sure about this but from tv or any pc monitor u can upscale to max reolution of the monitor or downscale to a lower resolution. The pixel are still on but the screen is not push very hard.
Amoled are very power effecient and this has been discuss in the S8 forum for quite sometimes. After all the testing the xda members have been doing it seems that going from QHD down to 1080(full hd +). Doesnt save that much battery (around 5% better battery)
Actually I'm wondering because on a 1080p TV, when you feed it a 720p video, the TV stays 1080p. The video is just enlarged to fit the 1080p display. On the V30 I'm under the impression that the display will actually change. Kinda like having a 3 displays in 1...

U wont see a smaller screen. The screen will stretch out edge to edge but it will look very blurry if u do 720p. Not so much in 1080p mode. So u can say that the software upcales lower resolution. Just like riptide 2 which u can lower or max res in the setting of the game.
Wait, so the software downscales? You sure? Just Android or all apps too? I don't think so. How could software down scaling effect battery life?

The screen is cap at 60 hz. Let say u are playing a game ( this goes with the ui smoothness aswell). Since the screen is cap at 60hz means that the fps is up to 60fps max/cap At 1080p is you play a game that can reach 80fps(cause is not pushing QHD pixel) the cpu/gpu doesnt have to work has hard. So instead of doing 80fps it only have to do 60fps meaning that cpu/gpu doesnt have to work 100% since is able to maintain easily the frame per second require from the 60hz screen.
This is why the new RAZER phone with 120hz screen can do 120fps.
Now if u increase the screen to qhd (1440p+). The same game with higher resolution the frame rate will be much lower. Now. The game probably is reaching 55fps instead of 80fps max (is an example). The screen is 60hz (60fps). So the cpu/gpu is gonna be working 100%. Much harder cause is trying to reach 60fps but it cant. Which equals more power comsuption, hotter device and also cpu/gpu throlling cause of the heat.

Question Screen Resolution

Hi, is there anyway in which we can change the screen resolution to 720p while we game?
Like it can be manual, before going into a gamez turned to 720p and back to 1080p when done.
Phone struggles in 1080p rendering on heavier titles. I'm hoping for a non-root method
