[Q] Root on KIW24? - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

I just got my honor 5x a couple days ago and want to know if root is available for KIW24? I did some searching and didn't find anything that works with MM. I can't seem to get to the site to request unlock code, I just get error message saying that the site I am looking for cannot be found.
Nevermind, got it to work using the guides here, just took a few tries.

Always good to hear it's used somewhere
There are updates ... a new OC Kernel 3.0.42 and a few tweaks have been released for my modded C232B005 firmware.
Read POST # 2 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725345
There is a separate thread only for the Kernel but the easiest path for most users is upgrading from SD card as explained in that post.
.:HWMOD:.

Hi
I was same as you (Orange Tahiti) now Huawei MP with HWMOD updated with new kernel. To unlock network/sim you will need
to get an unlock code. There is a feature on the Huawei home site to get the code but I do not know if it will work with the Tahiti.
I went to "FastGSM" and paid for the unlock code for Orange Tahiti.

No root till now.

I bought Lenovo Vibe K5 Note a week back. I searched in google for knowing methods available to root it. Though I found a couple of sites for this rooting, all seems to be fake. I tried Kingroot, Kingoroot, poot. Nothing worked. Does anybody know any other site that can help?

6.0? Oh sorry, I'm afraid that I may not be very helpful in that case, because I rooted my device that is on 5.1 which I am expecting here.
Those one click root apps such as kingoroot and kingroot or any other program, I do not trust them. They are pretty shady and install unknown stuff secretly. I've seen a lot of threads reporting this, so I took the longer path for my phone, downgrade it to a compatible version to root it from there and go back to the latest version, although I am not quite informed of how Marshmallow works, so maybe you can spend a little more time tinkering and deciding what to do with your phone
Anyways, some time ago I've read an article here in XDA showing how to root 6.0. You should read that one too. http://www.xda-developers.com/chainfire-releases-root-for-android-6-0-without-modifying-system/

Rooting Sonim XP8

Hi, I'm new to this community. I have experience jailbreaking my iphone, but I am unfamiliar with how the different rooting applications work across multiple platforms (e.g. are they universal). I was thinking of buying a Sonim XP8 because it has a bunch of interesting features that I haven't seen on mainstream phones. However, I am not willing to buy one unless I am able to root it. Is my dream possible?
I too would like an XP8 with root. Is there anyone who can help with this request per chance?

I did read somewhere (on XDA) that someone rooted the XP7 with kingoRoot, but....that's all I've found.

I tried kingoroot, and it failed. I haven't been able to find any options either. Hopefully, someone has some ideas. I have come to rely on root to block ads. They are beyond horrible.
any update yet? is there any root yet ive tried about every root apps i cant even find working drivers for this phone
Sonim xp8 dual sim issue
When i put 2 sim cảd to the device but only 1 work
I talked to Sonim about getting root access as there is a problem with my Xp3800 flip and I know its just a xml edit. They told me the phone cannot be rooted as its encrypted and has secure boot which makes sense as these are geared towards public safety
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and have been reading old posts to get current on the state of the collective effort here. Though I'm looking to contribute overall anyway I can, my current short term goal is to get hotspot working with my current carrier (Mint) with the used XP8 I purchased. The handset was originally an AT&T phone and came with the Android 8 update installed.
At the moment, I'm attempting to get the 10 firmware update hoping that might solve the hotspot issue, but I suspect that it's the carrier specific software baked into the image that's the real cause.
Today I reached out to AT&T and, despite not being a customer, they claimed to have allowed my phone (By IMEI) to get access to the 10 update. We'll see if it actually works as the tech indicated that it would take two hours for the authorization to propagate. If so, I'll attempt to pull off the firmware and share it.

Still no news about getting Bootloader codes or about rooting?

Hello,
I just joined the forum because I can't find anywhere any way to get the bootloader code for my Huawei Honor 9 STF-L09 8.0.0.385(C432).
I want to root it but every way of rooting requires me to unlock the bootloader of my phone, but since Huawei stopped providing codes, there's absolutely no way to get it (at least I can't find it anywhere, and I've been searching for a whole months, trying different solutions such as Dc-unlocker etc. and none of them working of course, even though my phone is on the supported models list...).
So I'm asking you, do you have any recent and working solution to get my bootloader code or to root my phone?
Thanks !
Honor/Huawei has stopped giving them out
... Well, yes, as I mentioned. I was just asking if there was anyone there who managed to find a recent working solution other than asking them directly.

How to get device unlock code ?

Hello,
I've an old Huawei Y6 (SCL-U31) and I'd like to unlock it to install a custom rom but I'm struggling to get it to work since Huawei doesn't provide these codes.
Any idea how to get my unlock code without paying ?
Thanks in advanced.
there is no way some country support apps may help but i ve tried and got none. hate this phone, app2sd blocked, 16gb but i have 3 gb after setup. cant install any app because of that. all people asked for huawei to unlock that feature but answer is always a no. this brand works for only top edge phones.

I used DC-Unlocker to read the bootloader code, its a paid service though (4€)
I think it's totally worth it, i'm now running Lineage 14.1 and my SCL-L01 already feels like a new phone. This phone was never good but at least now it's a decent spare.
