Hi,
I don't really like the way Android (in fact CM13.0) handles the mobile data in the status bar. If I have both WLAN and LTE enabled, I have absolutely no notification that the mobile data is enabled. Then, if I lose the WLAN connection, the mobile data will be automatically used. I have a small network plan so I'd like to avoid it.
The solution would be a status bar icon showing up whenever cellular data is on, whether or not the real connection is WLAN or cellular, on the right side of the status bar, just as all the system icons.
First of all: has anyone already written something like that?
If not: I'd like to create such an application. I know that the right side of the status bar is reserved for system apps. Does it mean that if I install the app, spawning the status bar icon, as a system app, it'll automatically be shown on the right side of the screen?
Besides, is it possible to create a status bar icon without a notification in the notification list? Maybe Xposed would help?
Thanks for answering newbie questions

I'm using the icbar program on my xda and love it. I'm trying to customize it so it shows the phone icon that is displayed on the normal start bar (the one with the signal strength, etc.). I'm able to get it on their with a default icon (blue square). It functions like this, if you click on it (shows connection options, turn off phone), but doesn't display signal strength, etc. What can I change the icon to so it works correctly?

Well, I e-mailed the author of icbar, and he said that currently it can't do this . So, I was wondering if their is another program (that can be ran from icbar) that would show the signal strength, alerts, etc? Or is their a program similar in function to wisbar/icbar that doesn't cover up the system (?) notifications? I like to know when I have a voicemail
I downloaded & installed a theme via Theme Chooser & applied an accompanying patch to modify the drop down notification menu. After a reboot the drop down notification menu was completely absent, luckily there was an undo patch. The problem now however is that my status bar is displaying the 3G notification icon, which is something I do not use. Is there a way to remove that notification off the status bar?
Anyone? It's no biggie, I just hate seeing the 3G notification icon.
Running Oreo with we have more possibity to control notifications. So how to remove data icon without root and without any apps ?
I'm on Orange FR network with Orange FR firmware. .
I use "hide notifications" for this but now is there anyway to do this without apps, no ?
Thank you.
Assuming that you mean the mobile data icon that shows the network quality on the status bar. You can hide it using the system UI tuner.
Pull down your notification panel and tap and hold on the settings icon a pop-up should appear saying system UI tuner unlocked, then head into settings> system> system UI tuner> Status Bar, then toggle mobile data to off.
Thank you but I do that. So it's that I want. I talk about the eart icon at the left when data trafic is off.
I'm currently using 2 sims on the dual sim model, and there are 2 signal strength indicators in the status bar to the left of the notch. That leaves practically no room for actual notifications, so I'm wondering if there's a way to hide the signal strength indicator for both carriers I'm on? I've tried using SYSTEMUI Tuner but none of the toggles would hide any of the indicators.
Silly question but did you restart your device after using system ui tuner?
Not a silly question at all, in fact I and not restarted the device after flipping the toggles but in my defence, it was because I could see other indicators appear and disappear in real time so I didn't think it was necessary. Nonetheless I did try to restart after turning off a few items that seem to relate to signal strength but still no dice. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I am having the same issue, looks like you can only have one notification for the dual sim version. I assume the only solution is to use the number of notifications option rather than the icon, given that only one icon will appear at a time. For example, I set up call forwarding and despite having several notifications, only the CF icon appears in the bar. If you add Network Speed then none will.
Hi,
I've tweaked my status bar using SystemUI Tuner so I'm left only with Cellular network & Wi-fi signal indicator on the left side of the status bar and battery indicator on the right. I would like to move both signal indicators next to the battery so I get the maximum space possible for my notifications. Is it possible. If so how? Thank you in advance

Hi. How did you do that? I'm using SystemUI Tuner and did the commands and I'm in the tweaks tab but when i click any of the settings, nothing happens. I restarted but the icons still show up in the statusbar.
I successfully executed the ADB commands and then flicked the switches in Status Bar -> Auto Detect. Then it required a restart of the phone.

It doesn't work for the V0lTe icon nor the battery icon though. Any solution?
