This is really sad.
I feel for those who have pre-ordered the phone and were patiently waiting for their handset to arrive.
I got lucky as CPW delivered my phone on 30th.
But I feel like I may have to return it, if samsung do decide to recall all note 7's.
Ouch.... So this could be a worldwide problem not just Korea. Not good mine seems to be running fine for 2 weeks now. I wonder what the symptoms are before it detonate.
I find it kind of exciting. My phone could self deduct at any moment. It's like playing a never ending game of hot potato. Except you are always holding the potato. And the potato explodes. ?
In all seriousness, I'm confused. Yesterday it was just about batteries from one Korean manufacturer and used only in Korea. Now I could be carrying around a pocket bomb.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
Ya it seems like a global problem, people from around the world are getting messages from their retailers to shut off the phone and return the unit.
I just want to know how to stress the battery to see if it heats up (obviously not to the point it does explode). I've been charging my N930FD with various non Samsung fast charging adaptors and doesn't even get warm.
When rooting my phone, it got extremely hot during the boot process like most phones do, but I've never felt it get warm after that.

Not in the United States, the phone is still for sale at all five US carriers, and no notice has been sent from either Samsung or the carriers- Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Sprint. My Verizon Note 7, SM-N930V, has no issues, charging or otherwise. Canada is also similarly unaffected. It's looking like a exynos issue, the North American models use the Snapdragon 820.
returning mine to cpw for refund as ive opened it would there be any problems cpw taking it back? also would they ask for gear vr back?

For once, Snapdragon FTW, lol.
I just had my boss hold my phone to see if by some miracle it'll explode, 10 minutes passed and it is still stone-cold. Mine is a N930FD made in Vietnam.

This kind of contradicts your text from CPW. Samsung's said launches are continuing in other markets. Hopefully its CPW trying to be conservative and holding deliveries so they don't have to swap phones until an all clear is given. I've been using mine for over two weeks and it never even gets warm charging whether fast wireless, 9V cable charge, or 25W cable charge. Even if U.S. phones are recalled I'll keep mine until it blows up as it takes me a full day to rebuild my phone. It's not a Takata air bag where I'm going to be maimed by shrapnel.
Samsung concluded that the faulty batteries are to blame for the explosions. Samsung SDI is the group within Samsung that makes batteries for the Galaxy Note 7. That is, Samsung SDI produces the battery cell, but the battery pack production is outsourced to other firms. Korean ITM Semiconductor produces the battery pack for the Galaxy Note 7’s that are sold in Korea. ITM’s batteries seem to have been the ones that exploded. Meanwhile, most phones sold in China are going to have battery packs from Chinese company Amperex Technology.

Hey all ,
I want to buy this watch and I noticed many sells on eBay from south korea.
watch has a very good price and according to the list it should work fine in my country as far as bands.
also asked the seller if I'll get FOTA updates and he said that yeah.
so my question is , can anyone think on other reasons why I shouldn't buy it from there?
sell for example : http://www.ebay.com/itm/321576361962
Thanks for your help
On the side of pessimistic, I'm always very careful about ordering anything from overseas. Mainly cuz what if something goes wrong???
Once i ordered a fairly expensive HD IP Cam from Asia, and when it arrived it was clearly a fake. The worse case I know of, is a co-worker that ordered an Galaxy
S5 from Korea at a great price.
After a few weeks, weird things began happening.
By utilizing a few sites that specialize in spotting fakes, he would've never been able to tell that he got taken and bought a cheap clone. And the kicker of this story, the fine print in the con's listing forced ebay to rule in his favor.
So overall, try to order products from US vendors and be sure to read the description in its entirety.
Sorta like the guy that bought a picture of a gold iPhone for big $$$, cuz he didn't read (or maybe doesn't know how).
Good luck!!!

I think that for hige-end devices such as this it would be very easy to spot a fake product , for example , curved screen is not something that every manufacturer can make.
and as you said , ebay buyer protection plan can always save you.
in addition there's the whole feedback system that if you know how to work with you can figure within 2-5 minutes of investigation if the seller is reliable or not.
my main concerns are about the version of the watch , will all apps work on it etc.

Don't be so sure on the looks alone. Take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/gear-s-150-t3001480
First off. This model won't work in the US.
There are a lot of different versions of the GS... Each for a different segment of the world. I would do some 2G/3G/4G frequency research on the model you're buying and the provider you'll be using it with. Also, make sure it's factory unlocked... Trying to get it unlocked from another country would near impossible.

I did buy mine from Korea, and I'm from the UK. The problem is that you got to pay import charges, that will be 50.
it is the original samsung gear s with sim/wifi. the other problem is because its from Korea the navigation is not there on the watch all thou i updated it through samsung kies3 app.

wow, so you might as well buy it on ebay for 200/import charges will be about 55...total you pay will be 255....ho yeah paypal take about 9 charge to send the payment overseas, so the new total is£264,still cheaper than £336.
Buy it if you don't mind the trouble and long delivery time.
I've tried to grab two (G500T) now and both refuse to connect to T-Mobile unless I'm in their store. The reps figured it was a SIM issue and didn't bother to look up the IMEI. At home I tried my and my wife's sims from a rooted S3 and a rooted Core Prime and I get the same thing.... they won't attach to T-Mobile even though the other phones do.
So when I used TMo's IMEI tool both report as being overdue on accounts. So how are supposedly "Manufacturer refurbs" coming out with this flag? Is there any way to get these G500T's and know before purchase that the IMEI is clean and that it will just work on Tmo?
-gmolds
Am i missing something here... this Amazon post for the G900T even states that the device is only partially usable on TMo. Isn't that the Tmo variant? I mean the two I receieved booted to 4.4.2 or maybe 4.4.4 with the TMo graphinc and Jingle yet wouldn't grab a TMo tower outside of their store.
Add to that if I turned on WiFi calling I was recognized as the correct number and could send and receive calls/sms just fine.

There has been tons and tons of rebranded att devices people are selling as unlocked g900f and g900t devices as att has locked bootloader and nobody wants them. Could be your problem.
I wouldn't trust amazon nor eBay. Try swappa.com 100% and guaranteed to not be black listed

I'll look at swappa... but would AT&T locked ones root and take TMo kernels/ROMs becasue I was able to do exactly that and as stated, in the TMo store, it linked up instantly with full LTE (WiFi off) but outside of the stores reach it wouldn't connect. And again, the phone's IMEI according to TMo's lookup tool (both of them) had outstanding bills associated with them.
Isn't the Amazon link odd in that it is listed as a T but claims partial TMo functionality?
Or you could just buy straight from T-Mobile! I got two for $200 each. They're also eligible for T-Mobile's interest free credit system and come with a 90 day warranty which they will honour even if rooted.

Currently showing $250... a bit high for this model used IMO.
Worth a bit extra for some peace of mind, imo. As the T-Mobile rep I spoke to pointed out, the CPO devices go through an 80 point check which the new phones don't, at least not by TM. Both ours look brand new, and I'm guessing that both the glass & battery, and probably the outer cover too, were replaced. There's a difference between used & CPO. And I'm guessing $250 is less than you paid for the two you bought that you can't use outside the store??

Actually they were $140 apiece via Woot (Amazon subsidiary) and were listed as AT&T and T-Mobile friendly. One wouldn't charge and the other had the bad IMEI. I'd go as high as $200 I think. I'll keep an eye on Swappa and maybe call a TMo rep to see if they'll come down. I'm in no hurry... just getting ready for our next phones. I can't let Shiny get too far ahead or I'll miss out on all of his great work and their derivatives
As I said, when I bought ours they were $200, they'd previously been $250, so you may get lucky if you keep your eye on T-Mobile. I did their interest-free plan, so it's $8/month each, which seems like a hell of a deal now I've seen how good the phone is. Add a $10 wireless charging coil and you've got a phone that's indistinguishable from a $700 current model.

Those are TMo friendly phones, in that you can put a TMo SIM in them and they will work. However, that's not the same as a 900T. I bought a S5 through Woot back in January, and it was described as a 900T and it was a 900T.

It is/was (http://www.woot.com/offers/samsung-galaxy-s5-unlocked-16gb-sd-23) in fact a 900T. It reported as much. I've laid out pretty specifically what the problem was and got confirmation from TMo. The real problem is the resellers putting these phones out there as able to be used when the IMEI clearly reports as a phone in arrears on it's account.
If I had been willing to pay the account that the pay as you go phone had been bought on, it would have started working. TMo had taht IMEI blacklisted.
Maybe they're generic specs, but they don't list the AWS bands for T-Mobile, which is the usual problem with buying phones that may or may not be T-Mobile devices.
Readily admitting that I don't know what you're talking about but the fact that I connected to TMo with full bars when at the Tmo shop but dropped out as soon as I drove away and the fact that the phone is in Tmo's system seems to me to be a fairly clear indication that is was a proper model.
In any case.. got one off of swappa and watching for another in my price range and in a condition I will accept. Thanks all for the comments and pointers.
It's not an indication that it's a proper model. Speaking very generally, an AT&T phone will work on T-Mobile because they're both GSM/LTE phones. However, the GSM bands they use aren't identical. There's some overlap, but in some areas there are bands used on T-Mobile that AT&T phones can't use. What that means in practice is that in some places the AT&T phones won't get a signal on T-Mobile and may use 3G rather than LTE. AWS is GSM 1700/2100. It's the same reason why my T-Mobile phones work in the UK but the data over there is slow.
So in this case when the phone is reporting that knox hadn't been tripped and the phone info claimed to be a 900T is still may be an AT&T?
I just bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MF64PSK/ on Amazon. Clean IMEI and a 90 day money back guarantee. Looks brand new.

I have really liked what I've purchased from Swappa too, but this time I went with Amazon. I read your post and was worried...I had to check the IMEI!
I checked all pre-orders available... No freaking black anywhere in Canada?!? Lilac and grey only??? Did I miss something here?
Who the hell does that Samsung....... :silly:
That's messed up. I personally would of gone grey but black will do for me at least here in the states.
Yup. I wanted the grey one so it turned out perfect but more color options would have been nice. As far as why Samsung? They've always treated Canada like a 3rd world country tbh. It terms of revenue we sort of are. We're more or less Apple country if you look at the numbers. That's why they stopped giving us the Exynos variant after the s7. Why ship different variants to the same continent. We just don't buy enough to matter. Why bother giving us the color that sells the most...
if you want the black colour for s9, you can get it from pdaplaza.ca ...the have it in black but the price is about 100 more, but the internal memory is 128gb, unlike the standard 64g...who knows, maybe samsung will release the black colour after the preorder phase........i know, its so stupid how samsung wont offer standard black colour........
I emailed Samsung about this also. One issue is warranty. If you buy from the USA (they have midnight black), then good luck getting warranty if you are in Canada. I sure hope Samsung makes the black version available to Canada - soon.
Samsung doesn't treat the USA any better... Yes - we get three colors. But where is 128GB or 256GB options for the USA?!?! And no preorder bonus gifts? Come on Sammy! You can do better!

I agree we are a small market by any metric, but wouldn't black make a hell of a lot more sense? It's neutral, common and easy to sell off IMO. That being said, I thought I saw the S9 was going back to Exynos for W8..? Did I goof up? If not then my decision is getting easier.

Like I said above, thought I read W8 was going back to Exynos, so US models would have SD. But you're bang on about the warranty; I've had a Duos S6 and it went kaput, never got any kind of support from Sam, which is totally messed up, against most Consumer Protection Acts in the Country and is just horrible business. Look at how easy it is to get Apple to cover their devices...

You get $150 off if you trade in any junk phone, its something. The s9 is $810 after trade in, when was the last time a galaxy phone was this cheap?
Yeap I've been pissed off about this since the announcement.. I messaged Samsung Canada on Facebook just *****ing about it and the reply I got about 10 days later (so just a couple days ago) was: "Don't worry. You'll get your black"... So I don't know wtf that means I messaged back saying I hope that doesn't mean in 6 months when they need a sales boost bcuz I'll just wait for the S10 if that's the case and I got no response after that, which I bet that's what they meant bcuz that's the kinda **** Samsung pulls... I've also been tweeting Samsung Canada and Samsung Mobile about this repeatedly. Such BS. Whoever's idea this was should be fired or punched in face, one or the other.
Who's hyped and ready for the 10th anniversary Galaxy S phone? Let's talk about it. Whether you pre-ordered from Robelus Samsung or abroad because Exynos is more your thing. Let's share and compare.
I first went with the Ceramic black s10+ 12GB/1tb variant but dialed the crazy down to the 8GB/512gb variant because, who needs 12GBs of Ram? Well not me that's for sure. Pre-ordered from Telus on Feb 20th how about you guys?
I ordered the same model as you from Samsung. They said my device would ship March 5th. What is Telus telling customers?
i wanted the 12GB/1TB version but Rogers are not doing it, all other Canadian Carriers have it except Rogers, so i went with the 8GB/512GB ceramic black.
do we in Canada will get locked trash version again ?
I just ordered with pdaplaza from québec a s10 plus SM-G975F dual sim (1400$ with tx). they assured me that it has the exymos processor (because I want to root it because since Nexus 4, I can't live without Viper4android). it will run with Fizz, the new cell provider (as my s8+ since a few weeks).
As everybody I'm just waiting for it now to be delivered in Montréal (expected in the next few weeks).

I wanted the Ceramic White which was with 512. Was the lowest I can select for 1299.99.
Luck for me on the 1st launch, trading my note8 and getting a credit of 550. That's why I chose the deal. 699 plus tax at samsung website, tmobile was lower,
Yesterday noticed samsung dropped all the prices, now the Note 8 is 225.

Whoa! The only reason I didn't go with that one is because I'll probably sell it to get the Note 10 and Samsungs don't hold their value like iPhones do. I'd lose way too much money on the resale. Enjoy it!

Any advice on what deal slash plan to hit up. I've always stayed with the big three but with all these other sub carriers, I can`t figure out what to do if I were to get in on this. Im in Alberta, currently with Bell and my S8 term is about to end. She`s in mint condition and im trying to find the max trade in plus a plan with at least 5 gigs of data and like 100 bucks per month or less.
Traded in an old iPhone my girlfriend had lying around and picked up the 128 model from Samsung directly, was happy they had Prism Blue available, it's a nice change from constantly having a black phone. Samsung says it ships on March 5th, so fingers cross it comes in a bit early - do they ship via Canada Post?

Which configuration did you order?

Well guys like every year let me ask the question:
Who is pre ordering/ buying one lol?
I just went to preorder only to find out the only colour available in 512gb is black, which I hate so now I have to wait damnit.
Something interesting though is on Samsung.ca it lists the processor as 7nm which im hoping is the new exynos 9825. This would be awesome since we should be able to unlock the BL unlike the crappy snapdragons. I also chatted with Samsung online and the rep really didnt want to confirm it was but did eventually say yes she thinks it is. Of course their reps arent exactly tech savvy or have a great track record for accurate information so i take it with a grain of salt but it would be nice even though Ive seen a few websites say snapdragon 855 so who knows.
A trip to the Samsung store and a quick boot to download mode will confirm this

the reps only want to entertain pipe dreams so that you may dive into purchasing one.( but if it is true then that would be great!).
i am not planning to buy one yet. i want a laptop( a really really good one) and if a buy a note 10+ it has to have the BL unlockable. so that means usualy to buy international full price upfront.
but i am secretly rooting for the CDN carriers to have provisioned exy's.
if they didn't, it gives me more reason to hate their guts even more than trump and the bad exchange rate and duties between the US and Canada.
edit
so according to this:
https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/qualcomm/snapdragon_800/855
the 855 IS 7nm. so i wouldn't keep my hopes up.
It's already been stated its 855 Snap

I just got a new laptop about 2 months ago so gave me enough time to save up enough to get a new Note 10 plus outright. I think my S10 plus 128gb was about the same as the 256gb Note 10 which is a little odd and the 512gb is only $1600...not going to complain.
wow, the uk gets the 5G already for preorder.:

Not that I saw definitively anywhere other than today on some of the retailer websites. but i went to the samsung store and they did say snapdragon unfortunately. I will say this the Aura Glow looks absolutely sick in person way better than on video.
I.iterally looks like chrome.

Best buy Canada lists it as SD 855+
Both the SD 855 and the new Exynos chip are built on 7nm architecture. Not sure why it would refer to one over the other tbh...

SD 855 is also manufactured as 7nm
Also the samsung US website says is 7nm

I pre ordered mine from Best buy but I'm with Telus and they're on a "Give you less for more" rampage with their new plans. It's freaking highway robbery. My monthly rate will go up by $50. So I'm not sure what I'll do.

I ordered a Aura Glow 256 GB Note 10+. Used my SPC discount code to knock $146 off the total which is decent. I still have a ceramic S10+ 512GB and never come close to using all the storage so the 256 wil do.
BTW! Fun fact. Samsung in the US was offering $600 trade-in for the pixel 3 XL before launch. I tried to to order from Samsung.ca and guess how much my Pixel 3 XL is valued at?... $130CAD yup. You're seeing right. Furthermore the 3XL is not even an option. I put my IMEI in the pixel 3 slot. They really don't give 2 ****s about us Canadians. ???

I've been waiting for the Note 10 for so long, then I saw the price. I've been buying Samsung phones for as long as I can remember, and I think I'm done wih them. Their phones became waaaay too expensive.
I'm looking at buying the Exynos version. This would be my first time buying an unlocked international version of any device. Does anyone know if I will lose any functionality. I've been doing some research, and I see some reporting Samsung Pay issues in Canada, when buying an Exynos version of the S10. Is this a common issue with Exynos versions in Canada?

One of the main reasons to buy exynos would be to root it... If u root it then no samsung pay.... I think it should work otherwise

$139.89 x12 months is still a lot of money. I guess I have to pick my poison. Not sure why Telus is adding $300 on the price of the phone tho. Wish I could file a ccts complaint about that. It's highway robbery...

If it was the 855+ that would be better I suppose.
And yes all it says is 7nm why they would not mention exactly what chip since they are both built on the same architecture makes no sense. Unless Samsung didnt provide that information because even they were not sure at the time what they were going to do when the information was sent out lol.

You will lose a few things, some of which are fixable once rooted.
Wifi calling will not work on rogers out of the box
VoLTE will not work
No carrier aggregation
Samsung pay may likely not work even if not rooted
Also given i have had mostly exynos over the years but also have had rogers snapdragon devices the signal strength is always better on the rogers devices by a fair bit pending where I am.
