Is anyone else having problems with their recent apps not showing up? Today marks the second time that my recent apps has remained empty no matter how many times I pressed the button. The screen was never turned off...it's not the built in task killer. Eventually it will work and show the long list of apps I've used so they weren't killed they just wouldn't show up. Any ideas? You can imagine how frustrating it is not being able to jump between apps.
As a bonus, in my frustration I pressed and held the recent apps button and discovered this phone (EMUI 4) has a split screen which I haven't seen advertised anywhere else. I've actually read complaints about its lack of a slit screen so if there's a tips and tricks forum someone should post that for me.
I don't know the solution for this, but I suggest a factory reset, and thank you for the tip (split screen)

If you enabled developer options, try disabling it and use it for sometime to check on the recents.

Thanks. They are enabled and I also rooted and deleted attentitle. I don't see a connection there but I'm no expert, obviously, as I never would have considered dev options. But that's all I've done after rooting and I'll give this a try.

Looks like this worked. Thanks for the help. Still confused as to why it worked though. Was that a direct side effect of developer options being on or is there a specific setting in dev opt that just needed turned off?
In developer options in last section, there is an option Don't keep activities it might be enabled so.

I was on a 5 hour flight earlier today, and while I was on the flight I got bored with my nook so I started trying to figure out the different settings that anycut can create shortcuts to..... Beware don't do it. 2 of them did nothing because of an error, and the last one I did said "you do not have permission" then my nook rebooted and erased most everything...
Except, the hacker keyboard was there, the search button said it was not installed, and I couldn't use the unroot.apk because I no longer had superuser access.
Doing the 8 failed boot attempts got me back to square 1, and I also figured out how to bypass the out of box experience. I didn't have wifi and it also bypassed my registering my nook.
FYI: to bypass at the factory startup screen, hold volume up and tap the lower left then the lower right hand sides of the screen in that order... A button will show up that says factory, click it and then hold the volume up and tap the lower right hand side of the screen. Another box will appear then you can click "skip oobe".

This will probably halve your battery life (which should be 8hrs+ with wifi, 10 without).
what will halve my battery life? not registering?

I believe one person (at least) had this experience and the general belief is that not registering caused some B&N service to constantly run in the background. If you see otherwise, please let us know.
Is there an app that I can run to view to monitor this?

I thought we have successfully debloat all the bn svc, didn't we? It's kinda moot since the ota seems to not care if you have registered or not.
On another note, i noticed the owner and account name in my settings menu changed to "unavailable" after i debloat. Anyone has any ideas?

I was desperate on the flight because now I didn't have anything to play with.
When my device originally reset, the oobe was giving me errors because I had deleted the devicemanager.apk to hopefully stop updates. But doing so made it impossible for me to get past the registration screen because necessary files were missing.
Did a google search on my iPhone while on the plane to figure out how to get past the startup registration and wifi process

Well you can just time battery usage and watch it go down, but yeah there are various battery programs to track it (betterbatterystats etc). It's not "a little bit" - it's almost halved. Sure, go test it and report back. More data points are always useful
So I got a 32-GB gray Prime from Best Buy that I'm going to be returning tomorrow. Do I just have to do a factory reset to wipe everything from my Prime? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, factory reset will wipe personal data and return it to the "first boot" status.
Google kinda sucks and you cannot simply delete the device from your Google marketplace account, but you can hide it. Hiding will remove it from the various menus when downloading/purchasing apps.

How do you hide the device?
Yup! Just make sure all the cables are in the box and do the reset. I returned mine due to a minor screen botch. It wasn't much but I didn't pay 500 bucks for a defect that was an eye sore on white screens.
Just be prepared to get a million questions from Best Buy. They looked at me like I was trying to steal their first born when I returned mine.

I don't know about you but if I select to Hide one phone another then gets altered to Shown.
I have several phones/tablets which no matter how many times you try to hide it then automatically changes one of the others to shown.
It's like playing cat & mouse with Google Account Settings.
Returning mine tomorrow, too. Unfortunately it has screen issues. At the left and right end of the screen for about 1cm there is some visible whatever, I suppose it is glue which not disappeared. It's only clearly visible at grey or darker backgrounds (like the IMDB app for example), but I dont pay 600€ for a tablet with such screen issues.
Replacement will take 1-2 month according to Amazon.de...

So all my prior HTC Android phones, including the HTC One X had a feature inside of the Developer options that you could check that would keep the screen awake while it was either on an AC or USB charging source, including a cradle. I cannot find this option anywhere within the new HTC One from AT&T, anyone know where they hid it? Certainly they would not have removed that function as I see on HTC's site the international versions do in fact mention it within their help section!

Yeah i miss that too. I was like wtf! I flashed Trickdroid and its there. It sadly is not available with Android revolution, which is an international base. I havent ran trickdroid long enough to comment on its stability but so far its good.

I put in a support ticket with HTC, some good that will do I'm sure but in their help they mention it is still an available function but obviously not. My workaround is using StayAwake from the App store. It works great, and the settings stick even after a reboot. The only down side is that it keeps the screen at full brightness when it is awake, and does not slightly dim it one level as the default function always did. I found another app that addresses the brightness but you have to re-run it every reboot and it leaves a little icon in the upper left which I don't care for.

Hey, which StayAwake from Google Play do you use?
I tried StayAwake from Runks, but that does not do the trick for me.

Try this:
1. Open the settings
2. Click on 'About device'
3. Click on 'Build number' 7 times
4. Go back to settings screen and you will see 'Developer options'. From here you can access the 'Stay Awake' function again.

Hi there! I'm having some doubts about the phone, switching between apps forces app refresh, even if I switch only for a couple of seconds. If I was filling up a form and had to check something in another app (let's say a bank app), everything I completed resets itself. If I was using a browser, leave it for a couple of seconds, come back, it refreshes the website (spending data and time). Any way to make it better? A really fast phone but this is bothering me.
Here is a video I recorded to show what I mean.
https://youtu.be/b_wrBgJrS4M
Tried limiting 4 background process as someone suggested me but it didn't change behavior.
Thanks!

I think you should add wanted application to App protection (actually you have to remove them from the list of "killable" applications, they will appear in Disabled auto cleaning part).
You will find those settings in Phone Manager > Power saving management > App protection.
If you want all applications to be kept you should disable Ultra-long standby during sleep.
Let me know if it has worked.

Nothing more sorry, thought that adding borwsers to "don't kill" list would stop theses refresh. Maybe it's the way your browsers are designed. Try others to compare.
I tried a couple of browsers, opera, chrome, dolphin, they all do the same, the only that kind of works are the bubble type browsers but I don't find them stable enough. Oh well, if you think of something let me know, for now I'm grateful you could help me the way you did.

Well really weird
Btw just an update, I installed the USA .16s version and its a really nice improvement over the Chinese .14 that I had, now I can see my phone using the ram as intended, the old rom always had 1 - 1.6gb free and cleaning the memory all the time.
So after entering in my PIN to get to the Smart Lock settings, there are no options available. I can't added a trusted device, location or voice. It's a blank screen except for a left arrow, "Smart Lock" title, and the three dots in the top right with "How it works" and "Help." Just wondering if it's a problem with my phone or if Nokia removed this feature (which begs the question of why didn't they just remove the whole section, or is that not allowed?).

Thanks for the reply. Looks like it is a bug. Can be (temporarily?) fixed by turning off Smart Lock ( Settings > Security & location > Trust agents), then rebooting the phone, then turning Smart Lock on again.. But someone said that the bug came back after a few days and they had to do the fix again.
I'd post the link to Nokia's community support forum but I'm not allowed.

I'm having the same issue, disabling the trust agent, rebooting, and re-enabling brought it back for a little while. I can't figure out what makes it go away.
A chat in the support app had me boot to Safe Mode but that didn't do anything for me. Nokia Support said they've heard about this one and told me to wait for an update but wouldn't suggest any timing.
I have posted this to the Nokia community forum and so far no one from Nokia has responded beyond say the "solution" is to turn off the trust agent, reboot, turn trust agent on again. I told her that's not a "solution," it's a workaround. Still no real fix. Maybe in Pie?
