Well it's official. 2 weeks to prep for a world wide recall.

Sort of glad I didn't order a FD model yet. At the same time I'm disappointed in what seems to be a lack of QA. But good on Samsung to issue a recall for consumer safety for what is supposedly a 1 in 42000 units issue.
Sucks, yes but at least there's gonna be a replacement program. Let's hope they don't mess it up like they did the pre-orders.
EDIT: I'll be clear this is not a jab at people who bought FD models. Since this recall affects everyone. It's just going to be annoying to have spent money to get an FD only for the recall to give you a SD model back as a replacement (if you are in North America)

It wasn't a jab at FD owners. More a stroke of luck since it would suck if I ordered a FD model then having to deal with trading it back in for a SD model when the recall hits Canada.

Given how badly online pre-orders were handled here in Canada.
Fingers crossed that we can just bring it in store for the replacement. But more than likely it won't be like that since both the physical store and online store are separate 3rd party entities.

Not all that concerned about it. It only affected 0.1% of the phones out there, so the supply chain should remain unaffected, thus prioritizing replacements over new purchases would solve the problem quickly enough.

The htc one has been confirmed by Verizon for Aug 15th now (or week of). It's about time if you ask me but I'm happy it's coming. Mainly for what it means in development for our DNA now that that's a similar phone and it's cdma. Although ido wish i could u upgrade to this im content with my dna. What do you think of it? Anyone plan on switching?

After using my DNA, I don't think I could go back to a smaller screen. I may look into upgrading when Verizon Edge comes around, but right now I'm very content.

Where is your source for this confirmation? Everywhere I've read says that Aug. 1st is only a rumored date because of the road map leak which has been, for the most part, false so far. Do you have updated official news from Verizon I don't know about?

If you're asking about Edge, you keep it. What Verizon will do is they'll split the retail price of the phone into 12 payments, then you make a payment each month until it's paid off, then the phone is yours. No need to renew your contract or trade in your phone.

I had to go to a couple Verizon stores Friday. All the employees said the same thing (at different stores). They said it was just told to employees that morning. One is actually on xda too lol.

By the time you pay it off HTC will have released a new flagship phone and the One will be left 2 generations behind in the Android world.

No, you have to hand it in... It's not really a consumer friendly thing. Just makes it look like it. T-Mobile are the only ones doing it right. With Edge you pay installments for you device and still have to pay the Verizon plan pricing setup to be profitable when handing out subsidized phones.
But back to topic, our phones are not that inferior to the HTC One. Actually only the CPU is older. Barely. Other then the sexy aluminium body and smaller screen, the phones are very similar. Well I guess the One has an IR blaster too.
I really want a One. I love my DNA but the One is just so sexy.

Well, thanks for the info on edge and the one. I recently got the DNA, since I went into the pool with my gs3 in my pocket. I am loving the phone. I had one issue with the proximity sensor not working properly. I had to root and the use the resound proximity calibration app to fix that. Is that a know issue with DNA.

Actually is say its all but confirmed now... It was leaked in the roadmap along with moto x for august 1st... Check Motorola's page... August 1st... I think its pretty much set now

This is NOT true.
The insurance you have will transfer over to your new phone. I picked up a couple of S4's for my parents a week ago and the insurance stayed on their lines. It did this automatically once the phones were activated.

Not so sure of that. I latched on to mine via Craigslist. Happened to be a Verizon employee with an upgrade due and wanted some cash so I ended up with a brand new S4 and transfered my SIM from my Droid Razr Maxx to it and activated it. And whatever he did to help me with this process, was able to transfer my existing Asurion ins. to it.

I trade my iphone 5 for an s4 and the rep put it back on and asurion still backed itband sent me a new one this past week since I managed to crack the screen and digistizet

Actually I just called Verizon directly and explained the situation. They informed me that I am still covered under Asurion Insurance and it was simply a transfer from my previous device to this one SINCE my S4 was in a brand new state and I am the only one that ever activated via it's MIED # or whatever. Now for someone purchasing a "Used" device off ebay, craigslist, ect... the former issue of no coverage would be true in their case.

After much contemplating, I went ahead and purchased G2 from bestbuy. You really couldn't beat that price with gift card.
Tri band LTE was a big factor as well as Note 3's inability to use it as it's primary function. As a phone.
I feel like I'm downgrading as screen is getting smaller but hopefully I will be proven wrong by this phone.
Very much looking forward to it and I hope to receive email like the OP here and receive it early.

I was in your same situation. A two-year commitment to the Note 3's lack of Tri band LTE was a deal breaker. Pre-ordered through best-buy for essentially $57 with the giftcard.
I think I'd enjoy faster LTE speeds and coverage moreso than 0.5 more inches of screen space. Hopefully the LG G2 will hold it's value to make buying the note 4 doable next year.

OP hasn't posted any proof - there's been a few people claiming they have a Sprint variant but so far, there has been no proof that they have it. There's a guy over on Android Central that claims to have it but the pictures show no software and the external back cover he did take pictures of appear to be an AT&T variant...

I do know of a guy that already has his... Hes here on XDA in the Development part for the G2 and has provided us with the system dump for the Sprint G2 so devs can figure out a root method.
He works for Sprint as well and won it at a training.
I won the G2 in a contest not sure of the storage size or color, but since its free that don't matter. I should get mine next week sometime.

Is the KitKat update even in testing with Verizon? If so, when was it submitted to them and why has it not passed carrier certification yet? What is holding it up this long? AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular have managed to get it out without massive backlash and issues it seems.

Get the Verizon CEO on here for us. We all have the same 2 or 3 questions lol. How long does a concessions account last. I just opened it as i work 3rd party with samsung but I'm not sure for how long as its only part time. i believe my contract ends in october. will they hunt me down for proof at that point or can i fly under the radar for a couple years lol but really wondering

Concessions accounts last for the term of your employment if your employer doesn't report it perhaps you can fly under the radar however if you have a dealer to report too or you talk to daily then yes they will catch on

If you left the company and still have the concession line active, as long as you don't call through customer service to change features on it, hopefully they won't catch on and won't cut you off. Also, as long as the company doesn't do regularly audits to see whether or not who's with the company still or who left you should be good.
I can't say for all third party companies but that's how it usually works.
