Update error! - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought a refurbished N9 and while installing android 7.0 it gave an error screen (with android laying on it's back)
After a bit of research it seems like a known issue. What is my best course of action in this situation?

@jagruk Download the factory image from google here Find the latest volantis (or volantisg if you have cellular data). Hold down the down volume and power button on your device to boot to bootloader. Select fastboot. Extract the file in a directory somewhere on your computer. Navigate in a command line or terminal to the directory you extracted to. Then run the flash all script (I think it's flash-all.sh for osx/linux and flash-all.bat for windows, double check yourself).
Edit: If I remember right the file comes in .tgz form. To extract on mac/Linux tar -zxvf filename
I have no clue how to extract on windows

[GUIDE] To Understanding the root process for MT3GS

Ok I have seen enough people having trouble whith the current root process so I going to try to explain it in the best way I know how.
First off if you have applied the new OTA update from tmobile either from tmobile or from xda dev forums the current root process WILL NOT WORK.
Now, that being said,
Step 1: Setting up the android sdk
Ok the Android sdk is a set of executable files thrown together to help developers piece together .apk's and various components for android devices thus the name "Software Developers kit". Now once you download the sdk I suggest that you install it on the root of your hard drive. In most users case it would be "C:/", and I also suggest your name its directory something simple like "SDK" like me because it cuts down on typing and the possiblity of typos.
Within the sdk directory there will be a directory called tools and this is where you will need to "cd" to in "cmd"
Cd = change directory
Cmd = Command Prompt
You may skip the next step if you have been able to view your devices serial number in "cmd".
Step 2: Viewing your devices serial number
I'm sure all of you like me as soon as we got our phone plugged it into our computer and messed around with it, well we just gave ourselves our first headache.
To fix this issue first we need to download and install "USBDeview" and uninstall all "Mytouch Slide" drivers from the computer .
Next we need to download "PDAnet" and install and choose "HTC" as the device.
Now we goto "Settings>Applications>Development and check "USB Debugging".
Now we can plug in our slide and our adb driver should install automatically without a hitch.
Now to verify open "cmd" type in "cd/" then "cd /sdk/tools" and "adb devices" and you should see your devices serial number.
Step 3: Understanding Root.zip package
The current root process is called "OTA spoofing" and its named this way for good reason. Within the root.zip there will be three files loop.bat, ota.zip, and update.zip.
Loop.bat = a batch script which loops the command "adb devices" until user command to stop "ctrl+c" verify with "Y".
OTA.zip = A .zip archive with tmobile ota signatures to allow the file to be read this file does not contain clockwormod recovery or superuser.apk or su.
Update.zip = the important file this file is what contains the recovery img and root permission "su" and "superuser.apk".
These files need to be placed in your "C:/SDK/tools" directory
Step 4: Getting your device to read in recovery
Now we power off the phone and power back on into "bootloader" press and hold Volume Down and power until your in bootloader.
Now it will check for an img on your sdcard it will not find one unless you put one there.
After its done press volume down before you select with power open up "cmd" and "cd" too your android sdk tools directory.
Type "loop" to start your loop batch script you should see "adbe devices" repeatedly being displayed on your screen.
Now select power.
If successful you will see "device offline" repeating
If not then repeat this step.
Otherwise unplug your usb cable from your device and then type "adb devices" and it should return with your serial number and devices in recovery.
Step 5: Pushing files and gaining root
Ok here we go...
Its important to know what the commands mean when doing this process.
"Adb push" :: adb push your.file /todirectory :: what this command is doing is sending the file you selected (in this case "your.file" to the directory you selected in this case the directory "todirectory") this is the proper syntax to push a file
However we need to send the ota.zip to the sdcard first but for the android recovery to read it it needs to be named "update". And we all know that two files with the same file extention and the same name cannot exist in the same directory. How do we solve this? By pushing ota.zip to the sdcard as "update.zip". This is done by the following command:
adb push ota.zip /sdcard/update.zip
This will send the ota.zip to the sdcard as "update.zip"
Now simply type in the following command BUT DO NOT PRESS RETURN ON YOUR KEYBOARD YET.
adb push update.zip /sdcard
Now scroll to "apply sdcard:update.zip" with volume down
Press power count
1...
2...
Press enter on your computers keyboard to send update.zip to the sdcard.
Boom you should see clockworkmod recovery.
Select install from sdcard find update.zip and select with the power and you now have root.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Should talk about the engineering rom too
Seriously. It took me A LOT of reading and swarming through 20+ tabs of the same thing to figure out that when everyone mentions ENG and installing ClockWorkMod Recovery and then small glimps of everyone saying "ENG for its recovery" that I FINALLY figured out you NEED to flash the ENG build for soley its test key's recovery to HAVE clockwork working the way its supposed to.

[Q] Not flashing correctly

I am trying to get my viewsonic g tab back to factory. I installed the APX driver ok, and downloaded the applicable files. I try to run the nvflash_gtablet.bat script and it comes up with a file configuration error that the file can't be found. I am running windows 7. Any suggestions?
i have never done nvflash and never got brick and loaded multiple roms and went on dif dev branches
this is for 1.1
http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/viewsonic/update-smb_a1002-3588-user.zip
and this is for 1.2
http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/viewsonic/update-smb_a1002-4349-user.zip
rename the zip file to "update.zip"
hopefully you partioned your tab before nvflashing it. if not then please ignore this.
put update.zip in root of your sd card.
create a folder named "recovery" and place an empty file named command with this text inside
Code:
--update_package=SDCARD:/update.zip
then go into recovery and let it update.
hope i helped somewhat
ps to make files in win 7. i open notepad and paste code then save a command.tmp then i go and delete tmp. it leaves it as a file. and works

h i because you didn't have the image files to flash into. This is probably the most common mistake that beginners make.
Go to my website linked in my signature and go to the start here page. You're probably a code yellow.

Near brick please help!

I know this should be in Q and A but its kind of urgent and I know this forum gets more views. So I flashed houstonn's new rom and all I got was a blank screen after the LG logo. Tried all kinds of wipes and re flashing but nothing. Also, my backup files are gone (I might have deleted them by accident with new SD card). I have no idea how to LGNPST and can't find a guide anywhere. Any help?

this is the part I used
the top section not the laborious part. I googled the zip files he references. also of note on my win 8 laptop only my usb 3 port would properly download and install the drivers for the phone.
once you actually have success installing the tot file you need you can follow his rooting instructions.
How to LGNPST to restore a factory image.
Obtain the following files: AutoLGNPST-tSilenzio.zip, and LGE970AT-00-V10o-ATT-US-SEP-29-2012-0.zip. Unzip AutoLGNPST-tSilenzio.zip and follow the instructions in "READ ME FIRST.txt" (mad props to tSilenzio for automating this process).
Here's the laborious/error prone/manual method for LGNPST-ing back to stock.
You need to obtain the following files: LGNPST-PhantomPhreak53.zip, LGNPST_ACG_2.2.3_Lab.zip, and LGE970AT-00-V10o-ATT-US-SEP-29-2012-0.zip. Follow the following steps (please note: I am less experienced with this process and find it much more tedious. Also, IMHO, I don't think the people you're returning the phone to will care if you leave some minor traces of your unlocking shenanigans. I think the process above this is more than sufficient and simpler). Credits go to Jhoopes517 for this process, he showed me how to do it in his thread.
(Install LG USB drivers)
Extract LGNPST_ACG_2.2.3_Lab.zip, run the installer. Open file explorer to C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LGNPST and replace the current LGNPST_ACG.exe with the one in the extracted folder (if you are on a 64-bit version of windows, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGNPST)
Extract LGNPST-PhantomPhreak53.zip and run LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_5_0_12_0.exe and then run LGNPST_Components_Ver_5_0_20_0.exe
In file exlorer, navigate to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST and copy over the "Models" folder from the extracted Phantom zip folder
Run cmd as administrator and execute the following
Code:
regsvr32 "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Models\LGNPST_LS970.dll"
Extract LGE970AT-00-V10o-ATT-US-SEP-29-2012-0.zip and change the extension of the .tot file to .bin
Connect phone to computer, power off, and then power on, holding down the power button and both volume buttons
Run the newly replaced LGNPST_ACG.exe from step 2. Select the DLL from step 5 and the .bin from step 6.
Press Start
If LGNPST errors out at 85%, turn your phone off and hold the power button until the phone powers on, then release. DO NOT disconnect the cable before LGNPST is done doing its thing. Your phone may reboot. This is OK.

Downgrade from Cyanogenmod

Hi,
I made a mistake installing Cyanogenmod on my phone, forgot to make a backup in TWRP.
This Cyanogenmod version requires me to delete my former EMUI fingerprints for the fingerprint function to work. I forgot to do that also...
So now I'm trying to reinstall my custom ROM. I found the UK PLK-L01 firmware on Huawei support page, downloaded that and put it on my (not external sd)sdcard/dload/UPDATE.APP.
Then I try the Volume UP+Volume Down+Power for it to install the rom, but only thing that happens is that the phone boots into TWRP, and in there, there is no option to install a .APP file.
Please help

couldnt you just locate files and delete in root explorer or similar app?
You can open the update.app in Huawei update extractor and use adb to manually flash the system, custom, cache, boot and recovery partitions back to stock then once you boot into the stock emui os you can reflash twrp. I'm busy atm but I'll write you a proper guide soon. Or you could Google it but be careful becuase there are a lot of guide that don't work anymore
Edit: This won't require you to wipe your user data so you can keep your setting contacts apps etc.
---------- Post added at 09:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 PM ----------
Here is my guide it's a bit long but should be easy. I recommend reading it all first before following it just so you know what each step is doing.
Ok step one. Go to This link and download the emui version for you phone.
step two. You need to download Huawei update extractor from This link and install it on your pc.
Step three. unzip the update you extracted to a new folder on your desktop (It can be called anything bu I recommend calling it "EMUI") and put the update.app file in this folder.
Step four. open Huawei update extractor and select profile "Unknown (worstenbrood)" if it is not selected already.
Step five. Under the section where it says update file click on the ".." button navigate to the folder you made on your desktop and double click the update.app file.
Step six. Right click on the file named "BOOT.img" and click extract selected then once the green loading bar has gotten to 100% click close on the extracting window since it does not automatically do it its self.
Step seven. Repeat step six for the files named "CACHE.img", "CUST.img", "RECOVERY.img", "SYSTEM.img" and "USERDATA.img" (Only extract USERDATA.img if you want to wipe all of you apps, setting, contacts and messages)
Step eight. Open the folder you create on your desktop and copy all of the files you extracted (Only the .img files since Huawei update extractor also create some other files which you don't need) and paste them into the folder which you have adb installed into (It should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools" if you used the sdk version but if you have a diffrent version of adb paste them into the folder which you have that installed to)
Step nine. Boot your phone into bootloader mode on you phone. There are a few ways to do this but use whatever way you used when you flashed twrp.
step ten. In widowns explorer (Your pc's file manager) Shift click in the folder you have adb installed into and click "Open cmd window here"
Step eleven. type the following commands into cmd "fastboot flash boot BOOT.img", "fastboot flash cust CUST.img", "fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img", "fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img" and if you decided to reset all of you data (Like apps, contacts, messages, setting, etc) "fastboot flash userdata USERDATA.img" Some of these may take a long time (Especially SYSTEM.img but it shouldn't take more than 10 minute if it doesn't finish within 20 minute press ctrl + c in the cmd windows and start again).
Step twelve. Type "fastboot reboot" into cmd and you will boot into stock emui. Now you can reflash TWRP if you want and re install root.
Feel free to message me if you need help.

Help! Need to go back to stock!

Please Help!
I did something very stupid today.
Unlocked my RMX2170, got into fastboot.
Tried to flash PBRP as recovery, and some vbmeta.img image as vbmeta of my phone.
Disaster! My phone got stuck in a bootloop of just repeatedly booting into fastboot.
No recovery, nothing.
From there, I installed SHRP using the fasboot flash recovery command, and now I have SHRP.
SHRP, however, cannot flash ANYTHING as a result of an error that it "failed to mount /system_root and /vendor"
The phone can effectively boot into Qualcomm EDL and fastboot.
I've tried countless tools and software to get back to stock. Nothing works. MSM requires a login to function, so it won't work.
Anyone at all, please, can you tell me how to get back to FULL stock?
Through sheer trial and error,
Procedure:
1. Downloaded A37 ofp file from www.gsmmafia.com/realme-7-pro-rmx2170-flash-file/ (or mediafire download)
2. Extracted it using bkerler/oppo_decrypt's ofp_qc_extract.py into a folder:
Code:
py -3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt
py -3 ofp_qc_extract.py a37_ofp_file.ofp .\extracted
3. Rebooted the phone into fastboot, ready for flashing (Power + Volume Down for me)
5. Ran:
Code:
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash vbmeta_system vbmeta_system.img
fastboot flash vbmeta_vendor vbmeta_vendor.img
fastboot flash super super.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(keep in mind these .img files came from the extracted ofp's folder!)
6. Rebooted into system using the fastboot menu (START)
7. I'm pretty sure my phone ran A41 before today... so I gave the phone an update from inside Android, that seemed to work fine.
As a bonus, my bootloader seems to have remained unlocked? Nice!
Also interesting: holding volume up does not boot into recovery. This is an issue for another day lads.
Can you explain me step 2? I have bootloped phone and I don't understand how to use oppo decrypt

1. Download and install Python on your computer.
2. Press Windows + R, then type cmd, hit enter to access a terminal.
3. Make sure Python works by trying py -3 in the terminal. (Type exit() to exit the Python shell)
4. Download oppo_decrypt's repository zip and extract it in a folder anywhere.
5. Use cd in the terminal to navigate to the extracted folder.
6. Run this command to install the dependencies of oppo_decrypt:
Bash:
py -3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt
7. You should have already downloaded the ofp file for the phone. If not, get it from here.
8. You need to run the Python script in order to extract the images you need, so, you should copy it to the folder where your ofp file is.
Bash:
cp ofp_qc_decrypt.py /where/the/ofp/file/is/ofp_qc_decrypt.py
9. Go into the directory with the script and ofp file, and extract it.
Bash:
py -3 ofp_qc_extract.py the_ofp_file.ofp .\extracted
The extracted images you need, if you were on Android 10, should be in the extracted folder in the terminal's working directory.
Best of luck, although I can't really help you step-by-step for everything, so I suggest you visit r/realme's Discord.

You can't flash recovery.img. It won't work, I tried. You need to re-flash all of the system partitions like in my post.
I don't have the files anymore, as I did this a while ago. Sorry.
