Hi guys,
I'm new with Xperia Z ultra C6833 that I got from my friend for free (my old phone died). The only problem with Xperia was craked digitizer.
So I ordered OEM LCD with digitizer assembly from ebay and replaced the assembly (and put new adhesive as well). When I power on the phone the screen stays completely black no matter what (even no backlight).
For making sure that it isn't the softbrick issue I flashed the stock ROM via flashtool. I powered on the phone, the power on sound is played, but still black screen. The LED normaly indicates charging, I hear the sound when adjusting volume. With SIM card inserted I tried to call myself, and it works (the phone is ringing), and swiping on that black screen to accept call it works, but i can't reject call.
So, please help... has this happened to anybody??? I'm just trying to find out is this the problem with the new screen or could it be the problem with the motherboard???
P.S. My computer and Xperia Companion normally recognizes the phone.
Update:
the screen is working with no blacklight, and touch sometimes goes berserk...

Hello! So my Xperia Mini pro has been broken, it doesn't show any image anymore, I think there is a problem with the screen but I want a confirmation or recommendation to find out what the problem is.
First the screen "touch" capability stopped working, and then two weeks after that, the back and option buttons stopped working too. And a week after that ,there was like a screen "flickering" (I tried to recreate the problem in the attached image) when I tried to either open or close the slider.
Finally the screen stopped working anymore. I tried to connect the phone to the PC but says that windows cannot recognize the hardware. And there's one more thing: I can turn on the phone, it vibrates, but the keyboard lights seems that are not working, they are permanently off.. and when I try to Increase the volume it doesn't sound either... There is only the black screen and a backlight.
Please Help me to find out what is the problem, I'm thinking to buy a screen replacement on eBay, but some people told me that is the "flex" cable. I'm not sure if there is a fix for my phone's problem.
Thanks!
Hey there.
Based on my experience, yes, your problem is most likey a flex ribbon issue. Your flex has been ripping apart lately, causing many of its wires to break. This can cause a lot of unpredictable problems, such as a misbeheaving notification LED, inactive ambient light sensor, or "dead" display/touch digitizer. Your problems have gotten worse over time, which is clearly a symptom of a broken flex.
You phone is no longer booting up to android because the kernel no longer detects a proper "response" from the display driver and halts the bootup. This is why you can feel the phone vibrating when pressing the power button, but nothing else happens. Your screen assembly is fine, I can assure you that, unless your glass is broken, of course.
Here's one hell of a good teardown guide: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Sony+Ericsson+Xperia+Mini+Pro+SK17i+Teardown/7275
I used that very same guide when I repaired my own xmp. I regret messing with my screen assembly because I destroyed it and had to buy a new one, which is costly
Thank You so much for the advice ! Now I'll try to repair it, It doesn't seem too difficult. Thank You Again!!!
hello, this it's the first time i write an entry in a forum, but i have a problem with my s2, the problem it's that i buyed sometime ago a screen replacement for my phone because i accidentally broke the lcd, and when it arrived, i changed it because i have some experience with this phone because i have already changed it's screen once, now, while changing the screen, i broked two things, the flex cable of the call speaker and the volume flex that goes onto the motherboard, but with that damaged, my phone turned on once, i didn't see that the volume flex wasn't there so i opened my phone again and now, it doesn't turn on, it's like only the leds of the screen turn on when i touch them, i don't know what to do, i have gone to a mobile center and the guy telled my that to repair that i have to change the flexs i broke, i have changed the call speaker but the volume one it's broken, i just want my phone back.
Sorry for my bad english
So last year i was using xperia neo v(MT11i) before it fell on the ground and turned off. When i tried to open it the phone was responsive (i could hear the sound while turning on) but the screen remained black. While charging it was still working and the led was on but still screen was black. I dissambled the phone and the lcd display was not broken at all.
I saw online that a new one costs only 10€ so i would like to know whether buying a new one would fic the problem or not. The reason is that lately i want to get started with rooting my devices but i dont want to make a firts try on my new gal s3 neo.
Thanks in advancr
I have Xperia z3. When I turning on phone Lcd light on but screen blank. I can heat sound and so on. Digitizer when pressing is working as I hear nose. But screen still blank. | tried few screens but still same. What it can be????
Please help.....
This is the Z3v forum not the Z3 forum.
I would say a screen failure though.
Verizon has open enrollment right now so you can enroll in a insurance plan and get another phone, if yours is out of warranty.
Your Display is dead - Had the same problem.
Everything worked fine just my screen wouldn't show me anything. Ultimately I replaced the display by myself because I didn't have any warranty and now it's working again.
You could try to send it back to your vendor or order a new screen (70-100€) from ebay and replace it yourself.
Good luck!
Hello,
I guess I have the same problem:
I got a Z3 one year ago.
But spontaneously the screen just stayed black.
I can boot the phone, the backlight is working. I wait a little bit but the screen is still black.
BUT I can touch and select camera and take a photo. I know, because I can hear the sound of camera. I can open the dial pad and dial a number, I can hear the different sounds.
The phone is original, have never been opened, no other software.
I already tried with "Xperia Companion" to install latest updates and repair the phone. Nothing worked.

Did a screen replacement solved your problem?
A feedback how the problem was solved would be great because I don't wanna buy an expensive screen if anything else is broken in phone.

I successfully replaced the display/digitiser combo on my old Xperia P two weeks back. I had the same problem which you have stated on your post. Is your device able to boot successfully? Is it getting shown on the computer? If no then I believe the lcd is faulty. Can you see a blinking faint red light near the IR sensor besides the front camera? If it is blinking then the device is not able to boot fully. It will vibrate and charge fully. I order the replacement on aliexpress.
Did you bay the screen online if yes can send me the link i need it, or if you can find the screen touch will be great
