Hey, here is a little kernel Houstonn and I have been working on. It's based on Faux123 kernel for nexus 4, however, it has evolved into a "buffet" kernel. I keep choosing what i believe is the better interface / way of doing things in a choice of various way or what could give us better battery / performance. I'm trying to maintain a certain balance.
This version is for geeb (AT&T/Canadian) with the 8mp cam. If you have a 13mp camera use that thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246152
I won't link to Faux123 kernel in the nexus 4 for the simple reason that 99% of the people don't read and on these 99% of people, a few will end up flashing nexus 4 kernel which mostly flash by partition number and not by partition name thus hard bricking their device.
Reason to at least try it :
CPU voltage table
Intellidemand and Wheatley governor added
All the block I/O scheduler
TCP Westwood algorithm
Faux123 sounds interface
Faux123 gamma interface (color control)
Newest Prima (wifi) driver.
In-kernel thermal watching
Msm_mpdecision (In-kernel OpenSource MPDecision)
Thanks :
Houstonn
Faux123
Show-P1984
FranciscoFranco
Shelnutt2
XpLoDWilD
Thracky
Synergye
Exit_only
All the downloads will be here :
Use the Geeb version.

I recommand using trickster mod to control this kernel.

too many pleasures.....
Thanks for creating a thread here since many of us don't go to the Canadian forum. Should cut down on the redundant "where do I get the houcha kernel" questions in all the ROM threads, since googling "houcha kernel" is apparently too much to ask.

Intelliplug (Disable mpdecision to use it) -> Use franciscofranco mako generic hotplugging driver instead
Faux123 sounds interface -> Use franciscofranco sounds interface.
Faux123 gamma interface (color control)
Eco mode (Dual-core mode) -> Seems to come with intelliplug
THIS WON'T WORK WITH 13MP CAMERA. I hope it was clear enough.

Is there a great benefit to flashing the latest release of the kernel? I'm on V12 and I see it's on V18 now (in less than a day ).

And what is the "Franciscofranco sounds interface"? Do I need apps that are not FauxSound and FauxSpeaker?
yeh u need his app which is 4.99 i think
I use the FauxClock app to mess around with the settings. Franco's is something completely different.

Where do I find these tools? Googling the phrases in the OP just show me the Franco Kernel (which is different than the Faux123 kernel ours is based off of, isn't it?) and this app that, while it claims compatibility according to Google Play, doesn't say in the description that it supports our phone.
I just want to be absolutely sure that something works with what we've got (and is actually effective) before I go off and waste another $5 on an app that I can't use.

He said in the OP he removed Eco Mode because it comes with the new intelliplug stuff from Franco. Turn off MPDecision and the cores will shut off when not needed.
I'm using Houstonn's root box rom and Performance Control keeps overriding TricksterMod. Before, I was able to deny PC SU permissions, now I can't. Also, not seeing intelliplug with TM even after turning MPDecision in the app. Any help?
Edit: I'm not finding intelliplug in Franco's app either. Interactive is the only governor that seems to be limiting all my cores to the min frequency. Intellidemand let's them all scale up to 1ghz.
Well that kinda sucks after I spent money on faux123 kernel enhancement app. You say it disables cores when they're not needed, and that is true but the overwhelming majority of the time I'm not doing 4 things at once with the phone. It handles 90% of my usage just fine on 1 core or 2, not 4 lol.

Wish I knew the exact answer to all those questions. Its my first kernel and im still learning...
Simple GPU im not sure I just know throughout having it its given me better performance.. from my use and experience.
Wheatley from what I know id similar to ondemand but focuses more on battery life.
Uksm is a performance enhancement for the kernel overall.
Theres a thread somewhere on xda that has details for these. I'll look for it in a feq and add a link to it.
Sorry I didnt have details for each though. Still a n00b lol
That's cool, thanks for the reply

UKSM stands for Ultra KSM :: A page (as in memory page) merging algorithm used in linux servers (and desktops...and also KitKat) that merges identical copies of page memories.
So if you have 2 processes that occupy some memory that is identical, instead of using 2x the memory, UKSM will merge them and replace copies with pointers.
It means it makes common processes use less RAM

WheatleyX! Now you can customize the max screen off frequency like Imoseyon's ondemandx and interactivex.
I may remove conservativex by Jamison and add back the default conservative and make that conservativex.
Gonna be working on that today peeps.
Still looking into the led fade notifications. The original one i added picked from the S4 didnt work.
Anyone know a kernel app that allows led control? Not like color control but the blink times and stuff. I got full LED controls implemented, but dont see a kernel app that allows the control. TricksterMod i dont think has it.
Also what about mdnie controls. Got the display color customizations implimented but cant properly test it for the Note 3 yet because there isnt an app that will allow me to change it.
Any suggestions?
Introducing the CTTMod
(cpu thermal throttling mod)
Most popular mod for the G3 & G4 now here for the Nexus
Remember always make a full nandroid backup before doing anything
I Am Not Responsible For Anything You Do To Your Device.
Please read entire op before asking questions
Rom & kernel developers please feel free to include in your work. Just please give proper credit thanks
Best used in conjunction with an over clocked kernel i.e. elemental x
Working to improve performance eliminate lag along with lowering the core temps allowing your phone to continue to run smoothly after long or heavy periods of use.
Thermal control works by throttling the CPU down to preset frequencies at preset temperatures and is also done in a preset # of steps. Thermals also monitor and play parts in controlling other components like the GPU, battery and a couple of other things.
First let me be clear about one thing
The CTTMod does not turn off thermal throttling. Now the trick of going into the hidden menu and turning thermal mitigation and thermal control on. That does turn off all thermal monitoring and control and I highly advise against ever doing it. You take a huge risk of frying your phone.
What I've done is changed the first frequency bump down of two in the little cluster and left the 2nd stock
And in the big cluster I changed the first and second frequency bump downs of three and left the third stock
I've also increased the temperature at which it resets by 5° in versions 4x
For more info on how thermal works along with how the governor affects performance you can check out my op for the CTTMod for the G3 here
Instructions
1: Do a full nandroid back up
2: Back up your thermal file which is in system/etc ( thermal-engine.conf )
3: Flash mod and wipe cache
4: Reboot
5: In your kernel control app like kernel auditor set your thermal driver to msm thermal or temperature limit SoC temperture limit depending on what you kernel offers
The idea in the above is to make the kernel use the system's stock thermal driver which is the one I modded
I personally also check all cores on
Finally enjoy
One final note this mod and xceed kernel do not work together as xceed has built in it's own thermal control. If you would like to use this mod with xceed kernel you would have to ask the developer of xceed to make a compatible version. Sorry out of my hands.
Please hit the thanks Button and give it a 5 star rating :good:

In the original OP for G# it says you have to have the thermal-engine-8974.conf file, which the 6P only has thermal-engine.conf, so is that same? Does still work? Not clear on that part. Thanks! Also, I have always kept msm_thermal and core control disabled, I can still do that right? Be disabled still?

Not necessarily, if they want the best camera performance then they need to wait for OnePlus to release binaries for Nougat.
You could try messing with voltage (I'd only suggest slight adjustment), using the app Boeffla provides here: http://www.boeffla.de/index.php/downloads/boeffla-config-app
But I wouldn't recommend a super high overclock as the 810 can overheat pretty bad, also depending on your governor (I use elementalx)

If it's available for your kernel the Boeffla-Config app has it under the CPU tabs at the bottom.
But as Sungfive claims it's not available, it probably isn't, sorry if I was misleading. I remember now Boeffla even says in his thread he doesn't allow voltage control anymore in the kernel, stating that you can add it back and build yourself if you want it (not so simple of course).

Let's share best configs for OnePlus 8 PRO. Anyone used it?
What is this?
A simple app that can custom GPU frequency and voltage tables without recompiling the kernel, compatible for Snapdragon 865 series, 855 series, 888, 765 series, 750 / 690 series and 780G.
How it works?
By unpacking Boot / Vendor Boot image, decompiling and editing relevant dtb (device tree binary) files, and finally repacking and flashing.
Why "KonaBess"?
"Kona" is the code name of Snapdragon 865 series.
Snapdragon 888 's GPU has minus improvement in energy efficiency, thus we are able to overclock sd865 and beat it. And this is the reason why the app was born.
Though sd888 is compatible now, the app name won't change.
How much improvement can I get?
I see someone undervolted his sd865, reducing power cost 25% in gfx(4.2w->3.2w) bench.
In fact, it is chip-specific and depends on your stability requirements.

Very helpfull if you provide example, also is it possible to under volt CPU too?
Who testing this solution? Works and safe ?
this worked wonders. I can play pubg and genshin impact with basically not that much heat and throttling

let us know what settings have you applied
Here's my config for less heat while trying to achieve maximum performance:
https://drive . google . com/file/d/1GhjJJttl5UZvUIytOSF1LZmEaPzxGbh6/view?usp=drivesdk
Paste and delete spaces.
I experience very rare artifacts in Dolphin Emulator with this config, so if you all suggest some changes, you're welcome.
Is there any tutorial for this?
CPU uv its possible this app?
I've been using this in combination with mslezak's fork of the Radioactive kernel. Undervolting works even on the overclocked gpu settings. It's fantastic.
For anyone wondering how to get this to work on stock, make a backup and offload it onto the pc first so you can recover in case of a failure.
Open the frequency settings and add a new frequency under the "Snapdragon 865" menu that matches the highest clock frequency in the "Snapdragon 865+" menu. They should be identical before proceeding. Hit the save button.
Edit the gpu volt table next, there's no submenus, it's all on one table. Hit the save button after any changes before you press the repack and flash button. "MIN_SVS" is the lowest voltage while the "Turbo" settings are the highest.
Do small changes, flash, then benchmark checking for artifacts and crashes.
Config v1
Overclocked and undervolted. If you see any artifacts, just bump voltage level up
Edit, removed.
No adreno boost.

I will wait for your stable configuration
Edit, since nobody cared to read or give feedback i'm going to remove the config, idc if someone renames it and shares it, just know that i'm not responsible for any damages. Did my warnings, waited for some time and still got no feedbacks. Fine for me, and i will not give a v4, i will keep it to myself this time.

Latest should be fine. Tested drainage between 295mhz and new voltage vaules of 4xxmhz, they differ like -40 -50mA which is ok considering clock difference. Should be stable now. Im not getting any artifacts or glitches.

If you manage to stabilize everything, I would be very grateful for sending the configuration. I care about the highest stability, energy efficiency and low temperatures.
