Camera Problems While Applying DRM Fix! - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear Friends,
I haven't made backup of Ta partition at the time of unlocking the bootloader. I relocked my bootloader without applying drm fix. So i was able to have Official Software Updates but the Camera was having some errors. Was not able to use video cam (App Freezes) Green lines while opening camera on third party apps. This problem was fixed when bootloader is unlocked. When unlocked i was able to use Camera without any problems. For getting X Reality Engine and Software updates i tried to apply DRM Fix but after applying drm fix the camera problem(Which was there on relocked booloader) came back. Is there any way it can be fixed? Thanks in advance.
The problem fixes when i remove drm fix but i wont be able to use X Reality Engine and Software updates.
Is there any alternate method to have XReality And Software updates with the fully functional Camera?
Sorry for the bad English!

DRM fix is implemented in nearly every kernel available.
Just flash Androplus V36 and everything should work.
Also it would be nice if you would tell what you are running now

I was running AndroPlus Kernel V32 now i flashed V36 version which included drm fix but now my camera stopped working. I guess this is a problem with some varients of xperia z5c . Many similar users are experiencing the same problem i have. Dont know a way to fix it

I would be cautious about any root that requires bootloader to be unlocked first as you will loose drm keys. Consequences may not show up until later, I am speaking from experience with Z Ultra GPe that ended up with nonfunctional camera after 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 updates. It has been fixed in custom roms but no solution to restore camera on stock roms has been found.
we need to ask developer like DoomLord to give us a hand and to contribute to help him or any one else on getting this thing rooted asap

Bootloader unlocking

Hi guys, yesterday I just installed on my xperia z2 .726 LP stock, prerooted and with recovery. And I don't know if its good for me or no. And as the lollipop is getting updated, im thinking maybe i should go to 5.1?
The question is: Is it really worth unlocking my bootloader and going for 5.1 or I should stick with stock and with locked bootloader?
What I lose if i unlock my bootloader?
And if its worth it, can you give me the links to do it the safest way, without losing some things
Unlocking your bootloader is safe as long as your not stupid about it
You will lose your warrenty, and some xperia features spesific for the stock rom ( these are permanent because unlocking your bootloader wipes your TA partition where unique information is kept)
You can backup your TA if your device is rooted
(google will help here)
So Is it really worth unlocking my bootloader and going for 5.1 or I should stick with stock and with locked bootloader?
And maybe, if u kind, can you tell me, what rom, kernel, what do you use?

Id rather stay with stock but androPlus kernel
Stock has all the features and the look i need above any commom custom rom
And the custom kernel alows for some aditional customization as well as some patches that alow even more e.g. xposed
(easier to root, recovery is more static you could say)
If you realy dont care about X-Reality, your warrenty and a couple of xperia apps then an unlocked bootloader is for you.

Okay, if I do unlock my bootloader, i lose my warranty, xperia apps, x reality, but doesn`t restoring TA keys, gives me back all of it?
Oh and what about camera?

You lose all that but sony cant tell if you restored your TA or not when you did so yes
Camera quality on stock rom is good but on Ub its somewhat lost however the results are more honnest so to someone who is into photography UB is better
On custom roms its about that of stock, CM based usualy varies depending on the scene.

So I can unlock any time I want and I can relock any time I want. And all functions will be lost/restored if bootloader unlocked/relocked ?

1. This only applies if you restore your TA if backed up before unlockimg
2. The camera quality doesnt even drop all too much.

So, camera goes a lot worse in CM roms?
So, I can easily go for TA backup, unlocking and installing existenz with androplus kernel, or even your kernel, if you release it ? ) (camera is important for me) (I want bigger battery life, now its 2days, with 5hrs of sot)

Dear All,
I refer to this below thread for a bit of history;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/help/restore-xperia-x-dual-f1522-to-stock-t3587368
After the success of flashing the stock rom and relocking the bootloader I tried to launch the camera but i keep getting the above message!
FYI I didn't have my TA partition backed up as well as the DRM keys thing-ies.
Any idea of what could be causing this?

I couldn't find the error message your taking about. Briefly read what u said and understood some. So youunlocked bootloader, installed custom recovery and a rom, and manged to flash to official firmware and are having problems with the camera.
As someone mentioned in that other thread you gave, when you block bootloader l, you lose the TA part ions which contains DRM, which can help camera to work as Sony wants it. The lost TA is lost likely causing issues., thus I recommend rooting to do man which have fixes for the lost DRM (not a replacement for the list ones) , so your camera will function correctly again. Be u seen you never made aback up of the TA, you've permanently lost them, even after relocking the bootloader.
P. S. I'm sure someone mentioned a similar thing to you no in the other thread.
Hope I helped u in some way.
Hey man,
Thanks for the thorough reply. So you think I have no hope of getting the camera to work while maintaining the stock firmware with locked bootloader?

That right, I think you dont have any reason to come back to stock firmware when you lost DRM key, because some rom have DRM fix like poision rom and pexorom. In addition, I am using posion rom which is really stable and fixed all your problem.
Glad to be not the only one with this problem.
But (what sucks) i cant sell my X because of this sh*t.

I always sell my Phones rooted in Spain or Germany. Many people like to buy a pre rooted and working phone.
With Poioson rom for example, all ist working fine and stable.

Just unlock your bootloader again and camera will start working. Use FlashTool by Androxyde and Xpirifirm to update your phone when when new firmware is release.

Hello
I own a Xperia z5 compact and i switch now to another phone... (xz premium) now i want to sell the xz5c so is it possible to lock bootloader with default ftf ?? without losing DRM keys issues ? or i lock bootloader with an custom kernel... but what happens if the new phone user want to update it ??
i dont want to sell crap so if there is no good option for end user i will notice it with custom kernel .... but i will lose money ....
sorry for my english ^^
You can relock the bootloader using flashtool but you cannot restore DRM keys unless you have a TA backup

No that would brick your device.
But: If you relock without DeviceKey probably no one will ever notice that various DRM features dont work any longer. I unlocked all my phones (most of them without DRM backup) and never noticed any problems.

when i flash my device to .33 i notice that the finger scanner doesnt reconice anything when i flash the kernel too evrything was working fine... idk if it was a phenomen but i cant sell a not full working phone -.-* money -.-*
i think best sultion is flash new ftf the kernel and sell it in that condition -.-* how much i would get for it ? screen and back have no scratches.... just the frame just some marks ... what would be acceptable ?
Wipe the phone and fully reflash it. The fingerprint sensor should work without drm keys.
Dont know how much you can ask for.

Not possible. Locked bootloader = 100% stock Sony signed firmware only.
Lack of DRM keys arguably doesn't matter that much once it's out of warranty, but some DRM features are noticeable, like low light noise reduction for the camera.
You should make this information clear when you sell.

Question Question about Root and Bootloader Unlocking.

Dear friends,
I've read other question threads about this and searched a lot on the internet as well, but I haven't found a clear and direct answer to this.
My questions are as follows:
1 - Will Unlocking Bootloader and Performing Root Make Me Lose DRM Keys? If yes, how does it affect my device?
(The penultimate time I was left with the camera app unable to take pictures in low light and without updates via OTA). It was the Xperia Z3.
2 - Will I be able to install Gravitybox, Xposed Framework, Xposed Edge, Xposed Additions, Gesture Navigations, etc...? It's been 7 years since I've needed to root a device (the last one was the Xperia Z5), so I'm out of date.
3 - Is there a Photos and Videos widget for current versions of Android 12 or 13? I just can't bring that Widget to my new device even though I can get the Xperia Album to work normally.
Thanks in advance for all your help and advice. Forgive me for the google english and have a great day.
I can only help with question 1 lol no you don't lose any DRM keys from what I can tell. The only thing you will lose is widevine l1 to l3

1. You lose widevine L1 to L3, so no more HD content from prime , netflix, etc...
2. You can run Lsposed but gravity box wont work on android 13, worse it can cause bootloop and without twrp, idk if we can fix bootloop without full wipe. Idk if others module will work. Edit: lsposed work fine for me (xposed framework )
3. Idk, you may search playstore for photo widget?
so, do i understand this correctly, the trim area partition is lost and can not be backed up prior to bootloader unlocking, but you effectirvely lose nothing but widevine and the camera is not affected in any way?
No you don't lose anything from what I can tell lol also you can get widevine l1 back if you lock your bootloader and repair it with their tool

I just received my device and successfully unlocked the bootloader. When I wanted to root my device I couldn't find my current ROM in XPERIFIRM, I need this rom to get the boot.img file. "Okay", I thought, "I just need to flash one of the ROMs available here and everything will be fine". So I could not in any way get or generate the ftf to flash on my device via flashtool, The flashtool doesn't even recognize my device.
Can anyone give me a light? I really want to ROOT my Xperia 1 IV XQ-CT72 and keep Android 12.
About the current version, follow the number.

Shouldn't I be seeing a list of modules to download in magisk?
Did I do something wrong?

no thats correct now you need to install Fox's Magisk Module Manager

Gravity box wont work and may cause bootloop. And i think latest firmware is android 13. If you has CT72 i would suggest go for SEA version
Btw i forgot to say yesterday but use new flasher (google it from xda) to flash your firmware
