Go here. You can't do better for clear instructions. I used them for CM 12, but I'm sure CM 11 will work also.

[Q] Unable to root. [4.3 with CM 10.2]

I decided to install the new CM 10.2 with its 4.3 android today. In the guide I was using it also said to install AJK kernel so I did
and now I have everything working except ROOT permissions. And I can't figure out what did I do wrong. Here are the steps I took expecting to have my phone rooted and with cm 10.2 at the end:
1. I installed the new kernel by their official instructions in recovery mode
2. Installed SuperSU in recovery
3. Installed CM 10.2 in recovery
4. Installed GAPPS in recovery
5. rebooted phone
Could you please tell me what am I missing or what did I do wrong? I already rooted my phone before so I can't seem t figure out what am I doing wrong now.
Any help is much appreciated, thank you all.

CWM 6.x for Acclaim CM 10.2

I am having a hard time finding a CWM v6.x for Acclaim. Been trying to get it here:
goo.im/devs/succulent/acclaim/recovery
Most the links are broken and those that work give corrupt files. Is the site permanently broken? Anybody have a good link?
I currently have v5.0.2.8 with CM 10.1 but it does not seem to be capable of installing CM v10.2.
Like that perhaps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640958?
Might also want to try the links at http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/category/recovery-2/: some of the earlier 6.0.2.x versions are not on goo.im and therefore should be accessible.

Yep, the older CWMs mentioned the most are no good for current use, it seems. I ended up flashing TWRP on top of CWM, and I was finally able to install CM10.1 and newer without bootlooping (that flash bootloop fix wasn't any good, either).
I've had no luck doing the repartition due to lack of proper adb support within CWM...adb works with TWRP, but it doesn't have the tools to repartition. Now I'm going back to a newer CWM, hoping one will have adb support and the necessary tools. Yesterday I found someone's Nook Tablet tools/roms/recoveries repository linked on one of the other android sites, but I didn't save the top level directory, so all I have is this: https://docs.google.com/folderview?pli=1&id=0B0pqBNpVw4UUeHlyYXhkYkZucmc
Please post if anyone knows of the top level directory...I want those recoveries.
You should try Goo.im again, it is working albeit a bit intermittently.

I'm using CWM 6.0.2.9 for Acclaim from Succulent's goo.im. I have difficulty with TWRP on the NT, it requires multiple touches and is just all-around weird acting. CWM works great with no problems for me.
I followed the thread Wurstwarenfachverkäuferin recommended and downloaded:
four-nineteen.com/veronica/XDA%20Developers/Nook%20Tablet/RECOVERIES/CM9-10_CWM_v6.0.1.2_8-16gb_tools_sdcard.zip
Booted to the already installed CWM v5.0.2.8 using the Power/Home button combo.
Installed the above zip from SD card.
Re-booted to CWM v6.0.1.2
Tablet now accepts CWM 10.2

[Q] CM 11 EXPERIMENTAL NiGHTLY - Error status 7

------------- SOLVED! --------------
Hello all,
First of all I want to say I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs etc.
Currently I'm at stock 4.3 Jellybean and I want to flash my SGS3 to the new CM 11 ROM.
I rooted my phone following this tutorial: vvvvvv.telefoonrooten.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3-root/ (sorry if its in Dutch, but it uses the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 and Odin).
After I rooted I copied both the CM11 ROM and GAPPS to my external SD, I went to recovery and tried to install the new custom ROM but I got an error (status 7) and it was aborted.
Also if I try to reboot it won't boot normally as it should be but it goes back to recovery mode automatically...
I fixed to get back to Jellybean by flashing the stock rom (unrooting?) it via Odin.
Anyone else got the exact same problem as I do and knows a solution to be able to flash CM 11?
Thanks in advance,
Steelbear

please read the thirst post in a rom/kernel/whatever thread. and maybe if you havent done it already you should also read the stickies in general section.
FAQ (Read before post !!)
- If you obtain Error 7 when you tried to install ROM in CWM or TWRP
Install the latest version of CMW or TWRP

BTW latest philz touch recovery works too
Since you went back to stock and you already know how to root, I suggest you go to Play Store and download ROM Manager to help you install latest CWM recovery on your device.
Or you can simply go to CWM website, pick the version of the recovery for your phone and flash it via Odin.
Hope it helps.

Indeed it worked! I found it out myself yesterday. Went to the CWM site and downloaded the latest version (6.0.4.4.) and flashed it through Odin. But thanks for your input anyways (to all who replied) !
An alternative solution that I often use is to open the Updater Script in META-INF folder in the ROM's zip and delete first lines, where it gets device model as property.
Obviously it's an UNSAFE operation (because that lines avoid to install ROMs of other phone on mine) but when I'm sure that ROM I've downloaded is for my phone I do it and it works

Recoveries

Hello,
I want to mess around with WinSuk's great work (and the androidarmv6 team), but I'm a bit lost with recoveries.
I can't check right now, but I think the phone currently has 4EXT, or maybe an old CWM.
I've always used CWM, but I've been trying TWRP on my Moto G for a while and I like it better I think.
Will this TWRP 2.2.2.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886046 work?
Do I absolutely need this CWM 6.0.2.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474662?
Or is this one http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds/liberty/recovery-liberty.img more up to date?
Thanks!
Edit:
I have tried all of them, and I cannot seem to install cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip
E:Error in /sdcard/cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip
(Status 0)
I have wiped and formatted everything before trying, I have also tried with cm-11-20140725-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip, I checked the md5sum both on my disk and on the phone, everything is ok.
It did work once, I think it was with the recovery linked in the thread, but then flashing gapps gave the same error.

I tried again with everything, and I was able to install the ROM with the recovery from androidarmv6.
But now it gives me the same error for the gapps, complaining about /misc missing in the logs.
Well I finaly did it!
Installed cm-11-20140726-NIGHTLY-liberty.zip with recovery-liberty.img from androidarmv6 and gapps-4.4-tocache-20140605.zip with cwm-6.0.2.8-UNOFFICIAL-liberty.zip.
It's still booting, and I haven't tested TWRP but the thread is more than one year old so I probably won't.
I was only able to flash the CM11 Nightlies using the recovery-liberty.img from androidarmv6.org builds, but as of 9/6/2014 it seems to no longer be there.
I also found that flashing CM11 Nightlies required that version of recovery, but in order to flash gapps, I needed to use 6.0.2.8 from WinSuk, otherwise I would get an error.

[Q] Nook Tablet CMW Recovery

Hi, I am new to the whole jailbreaking. I followed this video (hZyfWpBJpiE) to root the tablet (6 gb).
In this process, I used NT16or8gbV47SDimagefile and I set the tablet to factory setting, deleted partitions, and deleted dalvik cache. I may have repeated this process because i thought it wasnt rooted because my screen looked different from the video guys tablet
Then followed this video (GZAQpeCtFi0) to install CWM Recovery 4.0.4.8. It booted to the recovery setting screen but I started seeing green lines to the right of my screen then it shut off to restart.
It wouldnt respond when I tried it again so I repeated the first process and tried again but still, same thing happens.
Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this?
Ultimately, I want to install the CM11...
Thanks in Advance
I used the Root Recovery Tools to run the 4.0.4.8

You should not have deleted any partition. Also I am not aware of a CWM v4.0.4.8 for the Nook Tablet, are you sure you downloaded tools intended for the Nook Tablet?
I'd suggest that you try the recovery-to-stock method posted at http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/how-to-un-brick-a-nook-tablet-8gb-or-16gb/. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575489 for more info/pointers.

I rooted the NT with: NT16or8gbV47SDimagefile.img
I used this version: flashable_CWM_6.0.4.8_chrmhoffmann
And I have these to install:
cm-11-20141102-NIGHTLY-acclaim
gapps-kk-20140606-signed
I think I tried 3 different ways to install it...do I need both TWRP and CMW recovery?
I read that TWRP was buggy and when it didn't work, I tried CMW recovery.
Right now, I have the NT back to rooted stated and nothing else. I followed this direction last, I think:

Since your NT is running (rooted) stock, you'd need SD-based recovery to flash CM/Gapps onto EMMC. Flashing CM11 requires CWM version later than 6.0.4.5 or TWRP version later than 2.6.3.0, unfortunately there does not seem to be any compilation of SD-based CWM versions 6.0.4.5 or later for the Nook Tablet, hence we are stuck with TWRP 2.6.3.0+ as the only SD-based recovery for flashing CM11 onto the NT. (The flashable_CWM_6.0.4.8_chrmhoffmann is for flashing CWM 6.0.4.8 onto your NT EMMC to replace the stock recovery; the root flasher app recovery is likely a too old recover version to be compatible with CM11).
A potential alternative course of action is to first flash CM10.x for which there are SD-based CWM recovery available (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51377882&postcount=163), then upgrade from CM10.x to CM11 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670589).

I think I was able to get through the first step in loading cm 10...
Is it normal for cyanoboot to show up before the cyanogenmod flash??
If normal, I will try to upgrade to cm11. This is a huge improvement though Thanks!
PS. the update from CM10x to CM11 seems to be only for HD or HD+...would this work with NT?
