If adb isn't working to reboot recovery and your home button is not working then about the only way I see you recovering is to connect to kies or Smart Switch and see if the recovery options there help.
If you can get retired to stock you can flash a recovery again via Odin then restore your backups or flash a ROM.

There is an easier way, if your home button has a malfunction and not the main board itself.
If this is the case, then open your s3 remove all the screws and cables from the main board and flip it to the other site. You will see nearly to the bottom 2 little golden squares which are the contact for the home button.
Get yourself two copper wires and tape them to each of them. Put the s3 together, turn it on, press power+volume up and let the ends of the two wires have contact with each other.
You should be able to enter recovery. I had the same problem once. I let the two wires permanently stick out of the s3 in case I will have to manually enter recovery again. Have fun
Sounds like will work thanks a lot +1
And one more question I wish to change the full housing panel of my s3 what would be the price
Will try both the ways thanks guys+1 to both

Depends on how much work you will put in this "color change". The front-color depends on the glass.
You could buy only the glass for about 10$ which is a little of work cuz you could probably break your
display while removing the old glass and you'll need UV Glue to put the new glass on. You see a bit
annoying. Or you could buy a whole LCD+glass in your desired color which will cost about 60$.
The backcover is 2-3$ and the innerpart is not necessary to change cuz it's not visible

This is certainly not related to VillianROM in any way.
I think it's a hardware problem - there's something wrong with display panel. If the backlight is dead you should barely see very dark image on the screen in bright lightning conditions.
Anyway, looks like there's nothing you nor your friend can do to fix it. You need to send it to service.

If the phone has USB debugging enabled by accident (I guess it's hard to turn it on blindly) then you can access it using adb shell. If you have custom recovery image installed, such as Clocwork or Amon_RA, you can boot to it and fave full access to your phone through USB using adb (or fastboot) so you can flash new ROM images.

Yes, what he said ^^.
I'll just add one more thing. To get to custom recovery easily, pull the battery out and put it back in again. Then perform what ever key combination to boot custom recovery.
Good luck to your friend!
You might also have more luck posting in the Wildfire sections where they me able to help. It does seem like a Hardware issue with the screen to me? Was it dropped or anything?
It seems like hardware. Probably connection between screen and PCB.
ya his phone dropped many times, ya it seems like hardware issue to me also..
hey. i went to take my evo off the charging dock and then went to wake up the screen and when i do the whole screen is in rainbow, snow pixel. like all i can see normal is the status bar. i can boot and reboot, boot into recovery ( but cant see anything except the very first line on the top of the screen) but the screen is just messed up. it looks like one of this old tv's that when they loose connection they get white and black snow except mine is colored snow.
any ideas?
thanks

I would imagine LCD failure, though I can't be quite sure. Could you include a picture of it?

The same problem with my GSM Evo 3d:/
What ROM, Radio, kernel are you using? LeeDroid V5.3 and LeeDroid V4.2.1-1.94GHz-KERNEL, radio - 10.59.9020.00_10.15.9020.06 in my case
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/543/img20120225140835.jpg
I noticed that when I removed battery and tried to boot, in the beginning screen was black and then was LeeDroid's boot-sound and when phone is supposed to ask for my PIN code the rainbow-pixel screen appears.
Could anyone make step by step instruction how to reflash ROM? I cannot see anything so I need all information (like push vol down two times). I hope it might works

really... LCD Failure... how would i fix that... here are some pics. I am running this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456793 on version 1.3.
so i will post pics, and do you think rogers would be able to fix this problem or would it cost a hell of alot of money?
I'm not convinced that it's LCD failure. LCD is working (in a strange way) and in my case touch is working as well. In my opinion it might be motherboard (or anything that controls LCD). I'm going to try changing radio, rom and kernel - maybe it will work. But I really need your help with the step by step guide I mentioned in my previous post.
ok, so what are you going to try and do, are you going to try and reflash a rom?
like i can try and give you instructions, but i need to know what you want to do.
EDIT: I have downloaded and tried to run the RUU for My rogers htc evo. it is installing the rom, stock radio, and what not. so when it is done i will update and post back if that worked or not.
UPDATE: Installing the new RUU did not work, the screen is still messed up im guessing its a hardware failure. im going to try to bring it into rogers and see if they will do anything to help me out.
Something new, now my screen is completely black (but i can hear that touchscreen and touch buttons are working).

I don't want to start new topic so I'll ask here:
Could anyone please help me with going back to stock rom?
My LCD is still not functional so it'll be unusual guide.
1. I open cmd and run adb reboot bootloader command (with stock rom in PG86IMG.zip file)
2. Does phone starts in fastboot or bootloader? If fatboot I need to press power button right?
3. Now phone should check for PG86IMG.zip file, what should I press to accept flash?
4. Now few minutes for flash
5. And what button should I press to reboot?
Is there any easier way to flash stock rom without working LCD? with adb commands maybe? please help me guys

Your in diagnostic mode. Hold down the power button for 45 seconds then press the camera button twice it should reset the phone.
Diagnostic Mode, never herd about it. I tried both with phone on and off, no luck :/. Anyone has idea what it might be? (I'll post picture once more http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/543/img20120225140835.jpg)
PS
I managed to reinstall my shipped ROM, but screen is still f*cked up ;(.
Guys I have a problem. Is there any way to switch on USB debugging without working screen? I need to s-on my phone and I cannot use adb without USB debugging. My touch screen and touch buttons are working though so maybe someone could make screenshots how to switch it on? I'm on stock ROM now.
Or maybe there is other method to use step 5 of this tutorial without USB Debugging?
And one more question, If my phone doesn't connect with computer in bootloader/fastboot, does it means that I have s-on?
Ok guys so basically I bricked my phone again. Please read through the whole thing before replying anything.
So basically this is what happened:
-I had XperiaTized v7 patched rom flashed, everything working fine
-I tried legend 7 or something and flashed. It was pretty buggy.
-So I flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437426&highlight=recovery I flashed the GB one first
-I booted and guess what I still had legend 7.
-So I flashed Froyo recovery which was attached on the same post to see how it was; I was curious and never tried froyo before I heard battery life was quite okay.
-So I booted to find that legend 7 was STILL there. In case you dunno, the recovery zips actually overide CWM so I'm left with the stock recovery.
-So I was like ah wth and I used the file manager provided by legend 7 to delete some useless files on the sd card.
-So I rebooted and to try to flash CWM but it got stuck on the samsung screen. (I actually pressed reboot to recovery on the power menu)
-I panicked and I pressed the home button nothing happened.
-I held the power button to try to restart but same thing happened.
-I removed the batt and went to charge cuz I realised it was quite low after flashing the last 3.
-When I plugged it in the the screen lit up but I was not greeted with the usual power icon.
-I unplugged after a few minutes and tried to boot. The screen lit up a bit but nothing happened. I'm really panicking now. It's quite a new phone. Please help I'm like pulling my hair out now.
PS I know there's a way to get to download using the keys but I don't have cooper.ops cuz all the download links are dodgy. If anyone has the file please let me have it all the roms I have I flashed through CWM.
Help will be greatly appreceated!

Just a quick question. If I do send it to the Samsung Service Centre to get the board replaced, how much will it cost and how long will it take? Sentrax is helping me out with the unbricking but if I really can't do it I'll send it to the service centre

Maybe you will be billed for repair maximum the same price of new ace , if you honest to samsung officer. Or free if you said,bla-bla, sudenly my phone stop working (at the end you get oscar, become movie actor, kidding ).
What? Billed the price of a new ace just to replace the board? Might as well just get a new one!

As I said, if you honest to samsung service center officer that you bricked your phones because installing custom rom make your waranty void.
Imho, price of board wont far from new ace price, because main components phone assembly are lcd, board, battery and casing. You can weight cost of these component.
Hint
Can you enter dowmload mode?Maybe you can use odin and repair it.
Yup that's what I'm couting on.

So yeah as the title states my internal screen is completely scattered, I can't use touch anymore nor see anything. But when my device is turned on and I connect it via Usb to my PC I hear the Usb connection sound. My Device is rooted and I think the debug mode is unfortunately deactivated.
Is there any way I can recover my Music and Pictures? Maybe through recovery mode? Or just a programm that bypasses the lockscreen?
I tried a lot hope someone can help me!
Thanks in advance!

You should be able to use ADB to copy your stuff from your phone to your PC, and you won't need to guess what's on the phone's screen while you're doing it. Lots of tutorials on how to use it on here/elsewhere (search).

I searched about 2 hours for solutions. The problem is usb debug mode isn't activated on my phone so ADB doesn't recognize my device..
You're pretty much boned then & you're going to have to guess where you are in recovery (if you're someone who flashes roms & messes around with your phone I can't see why you wouldn't have USB debugging on by default).
No easy fixes. Unless you want to wait until you've replaced the screen.
Edit - What buttons you need to press to get to where you need to be in recovery in order to mount the card will depend on what version of recovery you have given many kernel builders modify it. Find someone using the same kernel as you & ask them to help you navigate your way thru.

It was a fresh install of RR and so it wasn't activated at the night I destroyed it. Bad Luck I guess ^^ The problem is I won't replace the screen because I got a Galaxy Nexus for the same amount of money the new screen would cost..
So the buttons are not the same in every RR recovery?
Depending on which version of CWRecovery the kernel has/how (if) the kernel dev has modified it will determine how many button presses & how you have to go up/down through menus.
Post in the RR discussion thread & ask someone to walk you through as I suggested yesterday.
Yeah I understand what you mean about the cost to replace the screen Vs cost of a new phone.

Hey fellow Hackers/Modders/people-trying-to-help-each-other-out-of-their-problems!
I have a serious problem!
I was using the NoPCneeded way to root my phone (GT-I9100) and wanted to install de SU-zip when my Volume button went rogue and I accidentally flashed the latest Rootbox!
It went on and installed the Rom, when all of the sudden the screen went blank, and wouldn't turn on again.
Battery has been taken out and reinserted, and I tried recovery-mode...to no success! Download-mode won't work too!
So, now is my Question: How will i know if the darn thing is hard bricked of "normally" bricked?
I have someone who will bring me the resistors to make a Jig, but i would love to know if that will have success!
Anyway, thanks guys in advance!
What ROM were you on?
Have you tried removing your battery for a couple of min and then power on? Do you get the Samsung S II gti9100 screen upon boot?
A jig might work I guess.

I was on Stock 4.0.4 Latest official.
I tried to remove the battery and reinsert it, but it had no success!
It won't start, show anything or do anything..
I have the resistors now. one 300 kOhm and three 100 kOhm, so i can try them out.
which one would you suggest; 1x300 or 3x100 kOhm? And is soldering a requirement, or can folding suffice?

Your device is bricked when it wont power on or system wont boot and no way to use recovery/download mode to re-flash resulting in you having to JTAG fix or replace motherboard.
If you can use JIG to boot into download or simply power on phone into recovery/download your device is not "bricked".
There is no such thing as "soft" or "hard" bricked, just "bricked".

I knew there was no real soft brick, but i was wondering if there was a difference between usb-jig or jtag.

JTAG is when you have to connect device to Riff box via JTAG connections on board to flash bootloader. This is needed when you brick device via corrupting bootloader like a bad flash, losing power or flashing incorrect rom.
You can also brick your device by wiping data/factory reset in a buggy stock rom which basically screws up your emmc chip (internal memory card).
To be honest I'm not quite sure what causes the issue where a USB jig is needed to wake up device. Probably a bad flash which fortunately hasnt fully bricked device so in a sense you could call it "semi-bricked" since extra hardware is still needed to recover device.
"bricked" is basically when device is completely flucked or you need extra hardware to resolve issue, whether that be riff box, new motherboard or USB jig in case of semi-brick. I have never personally needed needed to use JIG so not sure on if its actually needed or if there is a way to enter download without it.

You can get a USB Jig from ebay for around £1-2 so you may aswell get and try one first if you cant manage to make own.
