Imei Clone!!!

Hey all!
One of my friend purchased a Galaxy S3 lately. He bought it online and the price was unbelievable. although I warned him not to buy but he insist when he saw the price.
Anyway, he realised that he can not update via Kies and also cant get the OTA. soon he understood, he was using a costum rom. Then he checked the IMEI and the result was suprising. that IMEI written on the phone and and system shows are totally different. he online checked the IMEI and it belongs to nokia 6600
now here is the question: is there any possibility to get back the orginal IMEI and install a stock rom?

No its illegal to clone IMEI and strictly forbidden to post about on XDA .
Your friend needs to return to the seller .If its not a stolen phone then it is probably a fake or blacklisted IMEI that someone has played about with .

OK I will tell you the whole story..in Turkey, if you bought you cell phone from a different country, for security reasons you should register that IMEI with your passport, and for once you should pay nearly $50 tax. or else the GSM provider blocks the phone.
I guess that phone was unregistered and the seller tought to solve this problem by cloning the IMEI with an old phone. I am saying old phone because that IMEI should only be one in the network. two same IMEI means two blocked phones.
all I want to know is there any solution to get back the original IMEI that written on the phone. I am not talking about the cloning the IMEI.
Connect your phone to your Pc, and watch out for a folder called EFS.
If you're lucky and the custom rom was installed had the function, the original IMEI was backed up to this folder. Find inside the IMEI data. and compare with the one on the phone. If they are different, you're a lucky *bastard* ;D
good luck
EDIT: But I cant say what file contains the imei. Just looked at my phone and couldnt find a file that contains it. Maybe some dat file or something like that. but it could be in hex

[Q] Should I update my phone...?

Hi,
Bought a Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH S959G) and flashed it, unlocked it (before January 26th (which was legal back then(and I am using Ultra Mobile as my carrier and rooted it.
The thing is that now it's an SGH S959G (Straight Talk phone) that has an OTA update and when the download starts it says it's downloading the new version for this phone, but, when I browse to the "About Phone" section of the settings, it says that the Model Number is Samsung SGH - I777 with a baseband version I777UCKH7, Kernel version 2.6.35.7, Build number GINGERBREAD.UCKH7, AND, when I power on the phone, the splash screen shows that it's an GT - I9100.
Today I connected my phone to Kies and (obviously) showed that an update was available for I777 (Android Version: 4.1.2 / Baseband Version: I777UCMD8)
My hands are itching to upgrade my phone because when I bought it and rooted it I had JellyBean in there, and now I have Gingerbread, but:
Should I upgrade my phone?
I want to keep root on my phone, will it be possible?
Will my phone still be flashed?
Will I loose the unlocking that I did to the phone?, I really just don't like the service at Straight Talk, besides, Ultra Mobile is much cheaper.
Now, one more thing, this phone was not activated on any network when I purchased it (got it at craig list (for those who know what that is)), checked the IMEI number and was not reported either stolen or lost, but couldn't register it with Straight Talk since I didn't have the original purchase ticket from WalMart, so I had to change the IMEI number on it too ... will I loose this if I update it?
Thanks, in advanced, for your help, sorry it's such a long explanation, but just wanted to let you know the whole story so you could get all the facts you need for helping me, and if you need more, please just let me know.
Again, thanks.

For loosing SIM unlock. ...I need to know if you did your unlock by unlock code or you did some other way
.....updating to 4.1.2 ....look in I777 thread for cooked Rom that is already rooted deodexed ...debloated....and TW rom you looking
If you did unlock by code that is permanent. ..other ways that you need post
For showing update on kies...
If you did modified IMIE that is going to be problem. ...be cause your motherboard will still have factory IMIE. ...and from your statement I'm assuming you modified IMIE from some I777 device...
So your best thing is to use. ..cooked rom...
For statement that SGH-S959G is jb stock. ...no it is not...
Here is the link for everything you wanna know

Here is the link on cooked rom

Are you pointing to APN settings or something else

Thanks samprocat, to unlock the phone, first, I downloaded an app from gogle play store that actually stated that it unlocked the phone for me, then I sent the phone to someone to change the IMEI number (I looked my IMEI up on the IMEI black list on the internet but it wasn't black listed but a message kept popping up stating that the phone's IMEI was not registered) so I don't know how they did the IMEI change, except, that they did change the IMEI while the phone had the sgh s959g image on, but could not put on the modems, that's why they used the I777 image.
I know that if the phone gets back it's original IMEI, it's not going to work anymore, plus, I don't know if it's going to stay unlocked either. To tell you the truth, I don't want it to go back to it's original state. If there's a chance for me to loose the phone's unlocked feature, or get back my original IMEI number, then, I'll just stay with the phone this way.

[Q] i9300 mobile network issues :S

I'm having some issues with my i9300 i bought not too long ago pre-owned, i'm going to try my best to keep it clear and simple but...
I bought a i9300 off ebay locked to Optus mobile network, now before I tried to unlock it i rooted it and installed the cyanogen mod 10.2.0. Now I cant read my imei number and some other specs on the phone, i believe you need the imei or else it wont always work i'm told (unlocking the network). Ive been looking around for a stock rom from optus australian versions to see if that fixes the imei problem (didnt check to see if it was there when I had original rom on it). I've been running into problems finding a site that lets you download over 1 gig files without registering (**** that ****). Now I have two questions.
1. Can someone point me to a link of a fool proof no surveys and no registry restrictions of a stock rom from optus??
2. Is there it required to have an imei for unlocking or will unlocking fix my imei problem??
Is there a free way and relaviley easy way to unlock my phone??
Appreciate any help and ask for any more information
Additional imformation:
IMEI is Unknown
IMEI SV is Unknown
Serial No. Know
Have IMEI under battery

[Q] I9300, after flashing stock ROM, full signal but emergency calls only !

Hi. A old newbie here with a big problem, not solved by a lot of time lapsed, forum topics etc..
I have a SGS I9300.. Just got it a few weeks ago (2nd hand). Everything was fine, battery drains fast but doesn't matter now.
It had an modified TouchWiz rom which after a wipe data/cache still had SuperSU and I didn't like it.
I had a old stock ROM in my PC (from my old I9300, which worked fine 1 year ago, 4.3 Romania -Orange). I flashed it through ODIN but the problem is that I have signal bars, I can choose between HSDPA/GSM connections, I can register to any network but in my carrier it says The selected Network (RO ORANGE) is not disponible or smth like that.
I went to a GSM Service, they made it work but I didn't like that modified ROM, I want a Full Official Stock TouchWiz ROM for my old S3.
I paid a lot, I don't want to go once again to repair it. IMEI and S/N are good. When I received it from Service, it had USB Debugging ON. I think Z3X will solve this but I think it's not free to register..
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.

Good luck!
Sounds like your phone has modified/damaged efs and must have patched modem and kernel to use a stock firmware.
Take it back to the GSM Service and ask them to repair the efs properly, so it works on 4.3 without patches.

Hm, I tried a lot of things to repair it, but I did worse. The IMEI became generic (0049), the S/N was modified.
After a lot of time lost, looking on XDA, YouTube, trying to repair it... I found that the only viable solution was to go with it at a GSM Service. You can't modify or repair your IMEI without a box (z3x). I finally managed to fix it for just 9$ ( I was thinking to buy a new motherboard -> 50$ )
Thanks for your reply

I have the same problem. The IMEI and SN are good, but I can't call. I was on CM11 before and then I put phone accidentally in flight mode and flashed Blekota v11. Was not able to make calls anymore. Then I used ODIN to flash back to a Stock rom what I wanted to do in the first place. But still no change. Do I need to flash a different Baseband version?
Please help me, what can I do?

Yes you can flash different modems, a lot of people solved the problem with XXEMG4 modem, but in my case.. Nothing seemed to work.
I have again the same problem, IMEI and S/N are good, Emergency calls only. I think i have EFS V1 but my rom is fully working with EFS V2.
You should better go to a GSM Service and see what you can do with yours, don't try because you can lose your IMEI and S/N and then the single solution is to repair N/V data IMEI and S/N with Z3X box at a service.
Thanks, it worked with the patched modem and kernel. I used this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/guide-emergency-calls-problem-siii-i9300-t2752541
