Do you have a custom recovery installed? If so, you can download the full version gapps and flash it in TWRP/CMW.

Sorry, currently sick and lacking proper concentration so have to keep this rather simple. Feel free to ask details where needed. What I did was:
1) unlock phone via htcdev
2) flash the Droid DNA recovery of ROM Manager by:
2a) booting into fastboot
2b) running "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.3-dlx.img" (replace the last part with the actual filename, if necessary)
3) push Superuser and ROM Manager by:
3a) booting into the recovery (the screen will show colorful lines or whatever, but technically it's actually a working recovery)
3b) "adb shell"
3c) "mount /system"
3d) "exit"
3f) "adb push Superuser.apk /system/app"
3g) "adb push su /system/bin"
3h) "adb push RomManager.apk /system/app"
3i) "adb shell"
3j) "chmod 6755 /system/bin/su"
3k) "reboot"
4) Reboot into normal mode
5) Check Superuser and ROM Manager are available from the menu and if so check if you can open them. (in one of several tries to root the phone, ROM Manager force closed on me - pushing it again helped solve that for unknown reasons)
6) Configure ROM Manager to (correctly) think a recovery is installed
6a) Click on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
6b) Choose Device Not Listed Above, confirm with Yes and choose 3.x.+
7) Install Google Apps (optionally) by:
7a) Still in ROM Manager, go to Download ROM and choose Google Apps. For Android 4.1.x 20120111 JB is the recommended version, newer one might not work
7b) After downloading, have ROM Manager install gapps (forgot what the button says, but you'll see)
If step 7b fails to execute (i.e. automatically reboot into recovery), the phone is not properly rooted (for unknown reasons). If it's successful, you have the phone rooted and gapps installed. Congratulations!
If you don't want to install Google Apps, you can instead try to boot into recovery or try to backup the current ROM from within ROM Manager. If it works, so does root.
Note: Things between quotes are commands to be executed on a computer with working adb and fastboot binaries (either available in the current working directory or through your systems PATH). The two apk files and the su binary are expected to be available in the current working directory.
The instructions should work independent of the computer's OS, but I performed them on a Windows 7 system. Other recoveries than ROM Manager should probably work likewise, but I only tried this.
Some handy links:
http://htcdev.com/bootloader/ (to unlock the phone - just follow the instructions on the website)
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager (for both the recovery and the apk)
http://androidsu.com/superuser/ (get Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip to extract the Superuser.apk and the su binary)

Updated P765 -v20C(Indian Version) to CM11 -Kang by Dhiru
Hi All,
First of all Thank you Droideking for the detailed guide for a noob like me. :good::good:
I have updated my L9 p765 Indian version with baseband version 20c (latest JB Update India) to CM11. I have used the ROM - UnOfficial CyanogenMod 11 [KANG] 11 by dhiru1602. The experience is awesome. The GUI is liquid smooth no lags unlike the stock ROM.:victory:
About the guide I would like to confirm that it worked absolutely fine for my Indian Version p765 with v20c baseband. There were no restarts encountered in fastboot mode. Only thing which happened was that when i was running adb command in the command prompt i got the error on command prompt saying adb is outdated please update. The error was gone when i ran the command prompt with run as admin option in windows. Also i used RomManager instead of GooManager as it was not available on playstore.
One more observation - Droideking, in the guide you have mentioned that install gapps after installing ROM and restarting the phone after completing setup. I followed the same but then i realised that RomManager was done as i did a reset and wiped the cache and done a reset. So had to download the RomManager apk on the sdcard and install to boot into recovery to install the Gapps. So i guess its better to install the Gapps soon after you have installed the rom in the recovery before restart.
Here are some of the screenshots of my p765..
Error during installation
When I choose install update from ext sd card and after that there is a error occur
The error is shown in picture...
Please help...
and when i use my stock rom unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped. is occurred.

I had recently upgrade my s3 using TWRP recovery from 4.4 to 7.1 lineage os
But I am facing problem with rooting.
I am not able to root my device from
1)TWRP recovery
2)Odin(CF Auto Root)
3)Kingroot(Android and PC )
I have installed TWRP properly
PLz give an idea to root my device
I have checked in developer option
That is ROOT ACCESS
Their is 2 Option only
1)Disable
2)Adb only
But I am not able to get root access any of this Or Adb only
Previously I tried with different ROM
Their is option of
1)disabled
2)Apps only
3)Adb only.
4)apps and Adb
But in this ROM I am not able to find suggest me any way to fix this
I installd 4 time s same ROM to get this root access but failed
Check below screenshot
In SuperSU application
No su binary installed
https://dropfile.to/bRO4jKc
https://dropfile.to/MMWxWrp
As far as I'm aware the rom should be pre rooted and all you'll need to do is install supersu from googleplay and then update the su binaries from within the supersu app.
Set it to option 4 (apps and abd) and go about installing supersu first as the app from googleplay and if no joy then as a flashable zip file.

It works, you will get an error in recovery, but when you boot, you will get root access normally, i don't why the error happens, but it's harmless anyway.
Root fix
I'm not sure if you have fixed it yet but just in case if this helps the way I got around this is by simply downloading the latest super su zip from the official site and manually flashing via twrp kinda sucks but it works the first boot took a little though so if you try this and it takes forever for your device to not just wait because it can take up to 15 min the first time. So basically as long as you have twrp you are rooted technically it's just based on the rom wether they chose to support it if not the zip always works but you need the app too.

But exit this situation is a problem , it seem that the only solution is a forced reboot to bootloader (by pressing vol down + power button until the phone restarts in bootloader mode) .
I'm not sure at all of this solution , so I can't be responsible for what will happen to your phone.
Then reflash LOS ( if it worked the first time , it may work 2nd time ) with the SU Add-on to root your device .
Then , boot your device , download the TWRP companion app , and download the right and up to date recovery image for your device.
Since your rooted your device , you'll be able to flash the recovery image via the TWRP app .
Flash the recovery and with the app and reboot to recovery.
Finally flash your GApps .
Keep at mind that TWPR (your custom recovery) is the most important thing of your phone , that's what allows you to recover your phone even in critical situation .
So please , until now , keep it up to date
Good luck

Hey RaiZ,
Thanks so much for looking into this!
Pressing vol down + power button solved the issue and the OS started perfectly fine. I've updated TWRP as well just like you mentioned, however, I'm having trouble getting the device rooted. I've downloaded the latest SU Add-on from this page: download.lineageos.org/extras and installed LOS with the addon. It did not work.
Then I've decided to switch to Ressurection OS 8.1 which comes with Magisk root inbuilt, yet that did not work either. Access to root was only showing root access for ADB which did not work ("adb shell su" command outputed "su: not found")
Lastly, I've installed latest version of SU-addon for RR OS. Now I'm getting root access options for apps and ADB, but selecting "Manage root access" outputs no applications for root access, "root checker" app still cannot verify root and adb shell su command returns "Permission denied".
Do you have any suggestions what might be wrong?

Personally , I don't really know a lot about Resurrection Remix , but assuming that it work the same as LOS , you should go to the developer option and see what you got.
If you still got op only 2 option after flashing the add-on , I will advice you to flash Magisk on your device to root it

You're welcome ?

Has anyone here rooted this tablet with Magisk?
Any very detailed step by step guide somewhere with links to the specific files to download for this tablet? (It'd be great if it didnt't require a PC but even if it does, I'd really appreciate a detailed step by step guide to put Magisk on this tablet)
Thanks

Hi there,
I wouldnt't use Magisk on your device as it might softbrick your drive
So use KINGOROOT.
THE STEPS ARE VERY EASY TO FOLLOW.

Why would Magisk be more risky than Kingoroot on this device? I liked the idea of Magisk because it is systemless root and it is easier to hide from some apps.
Can Kingoroot one click root apk even root a Teclast M16 running android 8?
For M16, there is no root at all yet. I look forward to it myself, but so far there is nothing ....

Hi there,
I tried Magisk on a chinese phone, and after flashing the software, the phone just went into black screen and soft-bricking the whole phone, the phone works in the background but the screen is black. And KINGOROOT will not flash anything into your device.

So you have the tablet yourself and no luck with anything?
I can't seem to find anything on the net about rooting this tablet, it's weird too since it "only" has android 8, not the latest android versions. I sure hope Magisk or another root method is going to be developed soon because I'm really interested in that tablet model.

Hi there,
So i was researching more about this tablet, turns out you can root by installing a custom recovery (TWRP) and from there you can install SUPERSU to achieve root for your tablet. I am not sure if this method works, but if your able to get the stock firmware and the stock recovery and the software to flash the firmware i think you might as well go ahead using that method.
THIS IS THE ARTICLE I FOUND ONLINE :
https://www.getdroidtips.com/how-to-install-twrp-recovery-on-teclast-t30-and-root-it-easily/
*MAKE SURE YOU FIND OUT IF THIS TABLET HAS A TWRP RECOVERY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE*
Thank you for looking into it, unfortunately that guide is for the Teclast T30 and the guy advises to only use it for that model. I don't own that tablet yet so I can't try any of the steps myself but I'm very interested in this particular model (16/9 ratio, hdmi out, dc charger in, etc...) so I was really hoping to find a tested working method to root it before I go ahead and purchase it.
i found this: https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-teclast-m16/
I rooted my Teclast M16 using Magisk. Simply unlocked the bootloader through adb/fastboot commands, then have magisk manager patch the boot image from firmware download and then flash it using adb/fastboot command line fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_boot.img reboot system and its rooted.
I haven't found a twrp recovery yet, but I'm thinking about trying my hand at building my own, despite being a noob.
I can confirm
install adb fast boot
Enable USB debugging and OEM Unlock on your Android device.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flashing unlock
Volume up
fastboot reboot
Wait a few minutes to reinstall
enable usb debugging again
download firmware
you will finde a google spreadsheet on the facebook page of telcast
Copy boot.img on the device
install magisk manager via apk
install magisk via patch boot.img in download folder
download patched boot.img
patch device
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_boot.img
fastboot reboot

Hi, You bad comand when bootloader. When bootloader after comand: " fastboot oem unlock" , luck on skreen, push volume up, wait moment, after next comand:"fastboot reboot". After this command, the tablet will reset to factory settings with unlocked bootloader.
Hello everyone. I have TWRP for M16, everything is almost fine, after uploading it normally work on M16, except for touch not working, I did not check if it works with the mouse. Maybe someone will find it to correct it so that the touch works? I upload the file, it may be useful to someone. Regards RW
