Someone just have me a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5. It's still running 5.1. I have yet to root it but I want to switch it over to my MetroPCS account cause it's better then the phone I have now. I've seen some YouTube videos about it but would like to see if I can get help from anyone on here that has done it.
The last owner tried unlocking the SIM but didn't manage to. She has the unlock code from T-Mobile.
TIA

If I'm reading your post right: if you want to switch over to metropcs, you need to buy a sim card and port your number over, provided that you want to keep your number and haven't disconnected service with your soon-to-be former carrier.

So I can just call and they will switch it over?
It use to be a lot harder lol. I haven't switched carriers on a phone in a long time.

My advice:
write down your sim card and IMEI number and on paper before you call. Also, try to use a landline -- it's easier...trust me on this. =)
Do you need to port your number over?

warranty. If you've done nothing to the phone at the time it broke, changing sim card, and cleaning the contact points do nothing.
Shes broke.
I spoke with ATT warranty center and they are saying if your phone is not able to read sim card it's not covered by warranty.
Not sure what to do now.

The fact that it is a H/W defect on the phone. at&t should cover it. Thats bull**** if they dont. at&t would send you a new phone, and when you get that one you'd send your broke one in. samsung your out a phone for longer.
I'd be calling a manager at customer support in the warranty section. but Im an asshole, and if i pay good money for something, I tend to get my way when a device has issues that are not my doing.
Good luck man.

I am wondering if I switch my SIM card from my ATT Note to my Tmob SII if I will have issues? My note will be unlocked tomorrow when I get my phone from Tmob. I only ask because when I get the new phone with tmob sim card and I put it in my note to enter the unlock code will I have to get a new sim card or should I be able to switch between the two freely?
Thanks
You made your question almost unintelligible. However, if understood it correctly, once your phone is unlocked, you may put in almost any gsm sim card in your unlocked phone.
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
Yes, but the frequencies those carriers use are different. When you put the opposite carrier's sim in the phones you will have voice and SMS like normal, but the data will be restricted to EDGE/2G.
Well I took the step and tried it myself. I can switch my sim card freely between phones. No issues. The frequency stuff I already k we about. I wanted to be sure I would have to get a new sim card each time I wanted to switch phones for a day or something. Answered my own question though thanks dudes.

No. I answered my own. I tried my T-Mobile sim card..my goal was to see if it would fry my sim card going from my T-Mobile sg2 to my unlocked att note. I asked because going from android to iPhone it messed my sim card and I had to get a new one. However in this case I can switj freely between the two phones with no issues.
Side note, get my note back on Monday. Hard bricked it. Sent to mobiletechvideos and had their JTAG service done. Awesome work! I recommend!

So i bought a samsung galaxy note off a guy on craigslist about 3-4 weeks ago and today i noticed i didnt recieve any calls or texts from anyone, so i checked my phone and could get a signal at all, so i reset the phone to factory using kies and now it says, Phone Not Allowed MM#6 and i cant connect to any network
someone please help and tell me what i can possibly do to solve this issue
I did a little research and it could be a few things... Either you've gave the carrier the wrong IME number or the phone was reported lost or stolen by the original customer... I would call the carrier the phone is for and ask them. Also if the original owner hasn't paid his phone bill the carrier can lock the ime from being used... I've heard a lot of people buying phones on Craigslist like that...

so it's an AT&T note and you're using it on Tmobile right? have you tried an AT&T sim? If you don't have one available to you, I think you can go into an AT&T store and ask them if they can do a quick check for you. Be sweet, apologetic for using their time, maybe send your gf in to flirt with them a little they'll more than likely give you a hand.

not a stupid question, i did not say if it was unlocked or not
but yes it is, i received the unlock code directly from ATT so im not sure on how to fix this, if the ATT sim works then i will just sell it as an att phone
What modem is showing in the phone ? (needs blaze modem for TMO, if it's an ATT device)
And are your APN settings correct ? (needs the TMO apn's)
Two nails in the coffin for service if not correct.....
just brainstorming....g
And sometimes the network around you has a brain-fart. Sometimes those problems go away within a day.
Everything seems fine I restored it to stock thru kies, but I went to att and tried a live sim and it worked like I should its for some reason only T-Mobile Sims that don't work ugh!

I spent 3 hours in a verizon store and also on the phone while in the store with a verizon tech, he tried everyrhing even multiple sim cards and told me that there were now too many orders aginst the phone and that it should clear up by morning. I did what they said and tried again in the morning and it still wont activate im afraid i just traded for a junk phone but samsung told me they can reflash it if i send it to them but that will be a week or more without a phone, is there anybody that can help me or at least point me in the roght direction? Hi, yeah if i put the sim card in it just keeps trying to activate, it will even make a call to verizon and youll hear the voice say "please wait while your phone is activated" then makes a beep noise and hangs up. I can only use this over wifi no verizon network, no 4g or voice. My network says unknown in settings also. Activation just repeats itself until it finally gives me the mwssage "were sorry we are having trouble activating your phone please call*********** from a differwnt phone. Thanks

Okay just checking the problem. First, there shouldn't be any flashing to go to tmoble just putting in a sim. Si to make sure you are truly stock Verizon, follow section 1b here using the official download.

Ive done that the tier 2 tech finally just called samsung and got them to tell me they will repair it since it is still under the 1 year warrwnry but I have to send it to them, im just afraid they may find out that the fella I got it from flashed it to another providor (thats what he told me anyway and had to flash back to verizon) and then tell me to pay alot of money, I do have ins from verizon on it but they dont seem to wanna go thru that since I got it from another person. Also 99.00 is cheaper than what samsung would charge I would think?
I recently picked up an unlocked verizon s9+. I have no service at all. I flashed the u1 firmware thinking that would fix the problem no luck. I put my sim in and it reset to configure for the sim still no service. My s7 edge has 2 bars and my wife's s8 has 3 so its not that I'm in a hole. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are phone calls and texts working? Have you checked the IMEI of the device to see if the phone has been blacklisted? Verizon would probably tell you, or there are various websites on the internet.
Other than that, what carrier Sim are you using in the phone, and have you made sure that the APN got set up properly? Hope you get it working!

Sounds like it could possibly be the IMEI or the Sim reader? Either way hopefully you can contact the seller, or if it's the sim reader hopefully it still has warranty with Samsung.

When you go into settings/about phone/status/SIM card status, is anything showing as if the phone is reading the SIM card? And have you checked on the IMEI?

So far he doesn't know what's wrong with it. Gave me my money back.

That's good you got your money back. Probably somebody reported the phone lost or stolen or defaulted on the payments and now the IMEI is blacklisted. That's my guess anyway.

There are some okay vendors on eBay, I got mine from a mostly accurate vendor, phone was new and unlocked but originally from Verizon even though it was advertised as factory unlocked. Luckily I was able to flash it over and turn it into a perfect deal for myself. Good luck, and pop your sim into the phone first if you buy in person.
Picked up another for a descent price. Getting better signal than the 7 edge. Took your advice and checked real good.
