[HELP NEEDED] Recover Media from Adopt SD card? (NOOB) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i have a big Problem.
I have googled it and searchedd some threads, but I found nothing...
I was running cm13 on my honor 5x and made use of the "adoptable storage" Feature. Well, it worked great.... then I dirty flashed VANIR cm13 via Flashr tool by chainfire (without wiping data!) - and you guessed it: I can't Access my sd Card anymore... all photos, Music and Videos are gone.
Is there ANY way to recover the data? Via pc, Android, Linux, or whatever?
I've read there is an 128bit encryption, so this might be a Problem
Thank you!

Have you tried https://www.piriform.com/recuva ?

yeah man, I have already tried with the "deep Screen" Option.... 0 files found @ my 29gb sd Card.... Windows doesn't even recognize it.

does windows make a noise when plugged in, or ANYTHING to show its in?

[Q] writing all zeros to MLO issue

Hi, I have a friend with the messed up partitions on his 16Gb tablet, he's stuck with the " writing all zeros to MLO" screen of the Ubuntu total wipe process and can't boot anything internally. He can still boot CM7 from the SD card though. What is the easiest solution for this problem?
Regards,
Igor
I have the same problem. Let me know if you figure it out and I will do the same.

Well I managed to get it to boot again and now it boots but locks on the box screen, so I fired up a CWM SD (couldn’t get there from standard system) and tried to restore a backup, when it tries to format system or loadds something from cache is said the disk / file does not exist.
Does this recovery rebuild the Partitions? They seem to have been killed off. I appear to be getting closer and closer to thinking I have a totally bricked tablet. It will boot form SD and run OS from SD so not total loss but I'd much prefer to get internal back of course.
Any hints or tips Adam?

By the way I'm trying it again and this time it's sat for ages saying writing zeros to MLO.
It's been about 10 mins already so if it's suppose ot only take 15 in total I think I have a big problem!
****edit****
After about 30 mins of it writing to MLO I came to the conclusion it wasn't going to work.
Rebooted into a cwm sd, ran parted binary and discovered a damaged partition table. It must have been damaged when my tablet crashes first time around. So i fixed it with parted then tried again.
I'm happy to report that it made it all the way through and my NT is back totally to stock.
Thanks for the image Adam, it's another saved NT you can add to your list. Ubuntu looks good if we can just rotate the access, had same issue running it on an older device, we did fix it but I can't remember how. I'll look when I get time, be great to have a dual boot Ubuntu / cm7

/mnt/mmc/Downloaded Data

Can one of the experienced devs please tell me how I can rename the internal SD card back to Phone when mounted in a windows machine?
Currently when I connect via MTP it shows as "/mnt/mmc/Downloaded Data" instead.
I have searched and this is happening on a couple of ROMs and not just my home build.
The other option, what am I removing that is causing this?
I've the same problem. I'm on JB dragon's rom .
Can someone with the problem try this fix and see if it works for them.
Please back-up first and post back if it works or not.
Thanks for trying

I have the same problem with my Galaxy Note, this is really gonna be a problem, as I can't view all my files in PC... The files shown in PC are not complete. So if this is not solved, the only choice will be permenantly switch to Mass Storage Mode.
I got this issue after updating my own Rom from XXEMA2 to XXEMR2, the internal memory now appears as "mnt/mmc/Downloaded Data" instead of "Phone", and I doubt the solution is the storage, because restoring the EMA2 backup (with twrp) I get back the Phone label in MTP.
no other solutions out there?
Update:
after few restarts, and cleaning the MediaStorage, now it is back OK

I faced the same problem installing Phoenix rom on Samsung Galaxy Note2 and corrected this way:
1. wipe data factory reset on CWM
2. Wipe cash partition
3.format system, data on mount and storage
4. install rom through aroma installer selecting full wipe.
Hello! Wipe didn't help me in this situation, but I found another way. You need to copy the folder "kies"(system/etc) from the official firmware.

I am new to Android and recently bought a Tab2 10.1 (SCH-I915). It is rooted and I deleted the system/etc/kies folder thinking it was remnants of the stand alone Kies program that I found out is not compatible with my device after having installed it . Now I have the same problem with internal memory showing up as /mnt/mmc/Downloaded Data. when connected to PC. Can someone send me a copy of the system/etc/kies folder so I can replace it?
I looked for a stock firmware for this tablet and can not find one to extract the folder from. I tried the firmware for a SCH-I925 but the folder contains different files and does not correct the problem.
I also did a factory reset but that did not replace/re-install the folder. It needs to be from a SCH-I915 model I suppose, Please help, If you have a SCH-I915 and could copy the entire folder and send it as an email attachment or .zip/.rar or if someone has found a place to download the SCH-I915 firmware I can extract it myself......
I know this thread is a bit older but hoping someone has a solution as this is the only place I found with any information about this.
Thanks for your time

[Q] KitKat 4.4.2 Sd card fix

Hi, I'm new. I hope you could help me.
First things first. 'Sony xperia tablet Z wifi 16gb' is my first tablet and android device.
SGP3111
Android 4.4.2
Kernel 3.40-perf-g32ce454
Build 10.5.A.0.230
I upgraded it to 4.4.2 and I'm really disappointed about the restriction to write on the external sd card. I read about the new changes on the android official site, but there was nothing about sd card write permission changes. I didn't see it coming.
Is there a way to fix this problem without rooting the device? I never done something like that, I don't want to loose my warranty and it seems that there are many thing to consider.
I read that if backup my TA partition, I can eventually restore it later and keep my warranty, but I also read that I need root permission to do such thing and my bootloader must be locked. And some root procedure requires the bootloader to be unlocked.
If I root my device I won't be able to update it with official update, I'll have to do it manually.
If I change ROM, MHL won't work anymore.
Is that all right? I'm confused :\
I also don't want to loose my purchased app, my settings and my savegames.. I really spend a lot of time on this tablet. A simple backup will resolve all of that?
Is there a way to fix everything?
Thank you for your patience and your time.
Hi, you must root to bypass sd restricitions sorry
I'm also new to Android, the Z is also my first tablet and I did the same thing you did. I could not use my SD-card anymore. So I read a lot in the internet. The only thing you can do is to root your device. I did it yesterday and now I am happy again. If there is something broken on your device you still can remove root before sending it back.
I did a Titanium Backup before. But I think this only works if you are rooted. Is this the truth? I had a great restore, everything looks like before. But there should be some data backed up to Google if you have activated this point.
You will not loose your purchased apps. Google Playstore knows which apps you have purchased in the past and you are able to load them "for free".

FYI, this is the instruction which worked fine for me:

nice post, but I have some questions.
Did you make a TA partition backup? I read that this thing is what make your warranty still intact.
Titanium backup needs root permission, so I cannot do that. Did you use titanium app or sony pc companion backup?
Did you also restore app settings and game savegames?
Are you using 4.4.2 official kitkat with root or some other ROM? I read that MHL wont work anymore on that.
Thank you.
No I did'nt have a TA-Backup. Right after I got my tablet I rooted it with Android 4.3 before I read something about TA-Backup. But I think it's a good idea to do so. Here is a nice link: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-backup-the-ta-partition-on-your-sony-xperia-device/
So now you know, I started with a rooted device. (My thought was to root it right after I got it, to don't loose data when I try to root it a few month later. When there was Android 4.4 I thought I will try without root. That was a very bad idea. I had so much problems with restrictions from Android. A lot of Apps were not running anymore which even did not need root with Android 4.3.) So I used Titanium Backup as backup solution and had a backup from my 4.3 rooted installation. Titanium Backup is really great. It recovered every App setting (savegames, settings) and also system settings like Wifi keys, app symbols at the screen and so on. I only had to download some big game files at the first start automatically (settings and savegames were still recovered).Titanium Backup saves the backup on your SD-card.
For your info, if you use my linked instruction, the SD-card will not be formated. But a backup is recommended.
I used the Kitkat ROM from the link, I think this is the official one.
I think google does a backup of some of your Apps settings when you are connected with your google account. Am I right? But I'm not sure which data is backed up. Can anybody else answere this question? But I think there will be a way to backup most of your data without root.

[Discussion] What are you doing now that you can root?

Personally I've deleted a couple unnecesary apps that were wasting space, and intend to make Chrome an option for Dual Window again as soon as I figure out how (it was removed, I believe in 11b, and the flex multi window mod is unable to enable it).
As more things occur to me, I'll do more things. What do you all plan to do?
So far, I've only installed greenify and titanium backup.. I'm honestly trying to figure out what else I want to do (been out of the root scene for about a year and a half between this and my old turbo, which didn't receive root until the time I got my v10)

It's cause you already have backups stored. Double check your SD card files.
So far I have uninstalled bunch of bloat wares. And I was messing with the Verizon hidden menu so now I got 4g LTE on T-Mobile. Not really sure what I did though

It's either the LG Backup folder in your SDCard or the TitaniumBackup folder. Otherwise I would scan your SDCard.

I didn't use adb
I used root explorer pulled it to my downloads folder then I connected the phone to my pc and pull it from there
But to see it in root explorer I had to mount read write options

Tried editing to enable dual window with buildprop editor, rebooted into a bootloop. Recovery has the option to enable USB debugging. Using this, is it possible to undo the change in (for example) terminal emulator, rewriting the original line? That way I wouldn't have to factory reset. I already tried wiping the cache (wasn't expecting it to work, but it seemed harmless).

TWRP mount problem

Hello,
I just wiped my phone including data and installed the latest TWRP on my Le max 2. Now it won't mount anymore so I have no way of putting the new OS on the phone...
Can someone help me fix this problem please?
A little bit more info will help; is the phone still recognised by your computer? Can you still launch TWRP on the phone?
If it is fully bricked this info will help: https://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/20/leeco-x820-max-2-super-unbrick-guide/
Or this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-hard-brick-fix-qualcomm-hs-usb-t3492949. Both explain how to use the flash tool to recover (I had a hard time to get the drivers on Windows to work).
If you still can launch TWRP, copy the .zip file on the phone with 'adb' -for example on /SDCARD. And instruct TWRP to install the new ROM.
Walter
---------- Post added at 10:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 AM ----------
Ps: main issue is I don't know what you mean with 'not mounting. You mean you don't see the phone as a drive on the computer? Or you don't see the partitions mounted on TWRP?
For me it's not clear what's exactly your problem.
The last time I tried installing the TWRP's last version, it didn't work. It seems to be smaller than the previous one, which works smoothly. Maybe it might be your case.
Edit:
In case you simply can't find the phone when connected, there's a command to transfer files and install them using adb fastboot.
Sent from my Le X820 using Tapatalk
I would also try the "Format data" option under "Wipe". That solved my "cannot mount" issue.
Today, i had the same error
"Can't mount /system"
For me helped in TWRP, under erase -repair partition (to ext3).
After that I could install a new image.
Heyyo, is it giving you encryption errors?
By wiping data did you mean format data or only wiped data?

The smaller TWRP has nothing to do with it working or not. The old 50MB ones are actually bloated and with what I'm not sure. Look at other devices such as the OnePlus 3 which hover around 20MB like the latest TWRP-3.2.1-0 does for x2.
I'd also recommend the latest test version if you're trying an Oreo ROM or having decryption issues as in my testing it successfully decrypts EUI ROM 19s Indian partitions same with custom ROMs.
