SD Card is messing with me - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hey guys!
Yesterday my SD card randomly decided not to work properly as before. Nothing has happened with it, it just doesn't read it's data.
When I open up File Commander and go to SD, it works, shows everything but there are 2 arrows crossing eachother, saying "Convert", it's for jpgs, mp3s and all data on the Card. Now I can't view my pictures and listen to my musics and play anything I've put on SD Card. I have a rooted M4 Aqua E2303, can't unmount the card in the options menu.
I've tried on PC with ADB shell and with adb root to unmount and remount, it says I don't have permission for that, I even have Terminal Emulator installed.
If anybody has any idea how to fix it, I'd be happy!
Thanks!

Turn off the phone. Take outside the card, put it in PC, backup your data. Format the memory card, put it back inside the phone, and restore you files. Couldn't be easier. if you don't have a PC, than ask somebody to do it for you.

Well, I have PC, but I don't have anything for the SD card and the PC. Well, okay, will do. I tought there was an easier and simplier way, this was only the final solution.

What easier way could be there? Backup-Format-Restore.

I tought of re-mounting, that might work, but I have no idea why it says that I have no permission, and the Terminal Emulator says after "devices" that "There are no devices found" :/

Removed apps I shouldn't have...

Got a bit of a problem here...
Not even too sure what I'm doing, to be honest.
I rooted my phone, and removed a ****load of stuff with Titanium Backup...
Two of those were the Backup Assistant, and the default Launcher.
Right after doing so, I saw people were talking about how you shouldn't do just that. Also read that a way to fix it is to put the Fascinate's system dump APK's back onto my phone via the SD card... Here's my problem.
When I mount it via USB, to transfer files to my SD card, my phone says, "No SD Card Detected", and my computer just brings up a 14.7GB Removable Disk image. The contents of it include...
Code:
Android (Folder)
bluetooth (folder)
data (folder)
DCIM (folder)
launcherpro_backup (folder)
layar (folder)
LOST.DIR (folder)
media (folder)

Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I also removed my backup assistant as of now my phone still works fine just wanna get it back on there just in case anything happens. I downloaded the fascinate sys dump file put it on my sd card I tried opening the apk it didnt work. obviously im doing something wrong can anyone help me will gladly appreciate it.

Well that doesn't really help me at all. Whether or not it IS my SD card doesn't matter, I need my phone to recognize it as such. All applications say that I don't have an SD card inserted into my phone.
I'm not positive that I'd actually NEED any of those applications though, as I'm not sure how to get to the System folder in my phone in the first place. I need access to the Systems folder, so that I can replace all the APK files that need to be present before resetting my phone to factory settings.
I finally found a file management app (Astro) that will see my SD card as well as the actual folders on the phone. Problem is, I don't have permissions to paste the files I need, into the /system/apps folder...
Anyone know how I can get around this?
You'll need a file manager that's capable of accessing protected system folders. Root Explorer is by far the best app for this, and though it's not free, it's not terribly expensive (around $3). Otherwise, if you happen to know your way around linux terminal commands, you can install a terminal emulator app for free and copy files that way. If you have no idea what a terminal emulator is, or how to use a linux command line environment, then don't even attempt it, just buy Root Explorer.

Didn't want to bother paying for it, so I just downloaded it, and loaded it on with a backup installer. (They worked fine with a lot of apps, just not the two I had to have on there.)
Used it to copy-paste the files I needed in the directory.
Hopefully now, when I reformat, things will be alright. Fingers crossed, will keep you guys posted.
Successfully factory reset. Booted up with TWLauncher, no snags. One strange thing, though, is the Backup Assistant app still isn't on the list. I hope I'm not missing something that'll come and bite me in the ass later, now...
(Also, SuperUser is still on there, which is kinda weird. I guess rooting it involves the SD card more than anything else, right?)
Theoretically, if I didn't ACTUALLY have Backup Assistant on here, and I tried to update to FroYo when it comes out... What's the worst that could happen?

That happened to me before. Try to back up all of your SD card contents onto your computer, then wipe the SD card from the settings menu and copy your stuff back. That worked for me, and fixed a couple of FCs I was getting.
another problem with my sd card. every time i connect to a computer it says do you want to scan and fix. i said no and now it takes my computer forever just to read the thing what should i do.

Need help with clockworkmod

I have finally unlocked the bootloader, and went on to step 2 to install clockworkmod. I have read through the whole thread, followed the directions step by step, but can't get this done.
I don't know where I am going wrong, but I cannot get the phone to bring up the "do you want to update" screen as per the instructions in hboot.
When I go into hboot, it goes through the scanning and I can see the file, but then it goes to the hboot screen asking for nothing. I have been trying for 2 hours, with no luck. I hope someone can help me out. Thanks
I also had problems so I just installed it using rom manager and all was good.
make sure its on the root of your EXTERNAL sd card. the phone calls it sd2 or something. also, dont unzip the file.
Lastly, and this is important, dont use rom manager to install cwm, because its not a full install, its a temporary install. and if something goes really wrong with your phone, your going to need a legit cwm recovery to fix it. dont rely on rom manager... learned that the hard way..

I think this may be my problem, I don't know where to put the file. I downloaded the file, connected my phone to PC, clicked on disk drive on phone, opened up the removable disc on PC, then moved file from PC to removable disc of phone. So, it seems my issue is I am not placing the file correctly. I see a whole bunch of folders, my music and pics, but I don't see anything that says sd2.
I am really new to this, so I guess maybe my question should be, when you say "root of your external sd card", what does that mean? Thanks.
I had the same issue until I went to go to restart the phone from the fastboot menu and then the option finally came up.
The external sd card is the one that you would put into your phone. The main storage area is the root of your sd card. Kind of like if you just double clicked your C: drive. Nothing super special about it. Where you put it is exactly where it needs to be.
sdcard2?
Here's a screenshot using Astro...

Do you have a memory card that you put in your phone?
A microSD card?
When you connect the phone with a microSD card, the root of your SD card would be simply "dragging and dropping" the file right ONTO the card.
Meaning do not put it in any folders within that card. Just on the card itself.
When you double click to open the card you should see the file in the list of things listed.
Hope that helps.
I indeed was using an sd card. I dragged the file and put on the sd card. I then went into hboot, and nothing. I also looked at the files I have on the card, and I dont have sd or sd2 using astro. I am going to try another sd card and see how that works. I just cant figure out what the problem is.

So, I have finally did it. I may be crazy, but I used a different sd card, and did it the exact same way I did it with the other sd card, and it updated. I don't know why, but it did. I put my old sd card back in, because it has everything I saved on it. Hopefully that will not mess anything up.
Now to install a custom ROM. I need to read on this, because I don't know hot to this part yet, lol.
Thanks for everyone's help.

undoing permission changes

I've done something really, really stupid. I know just enough about permissions to hang myself but good.
I have a Nook Tablet 8GB that dual boots either into a Nook, or with the SD card in, into Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC0-acclaim-TEAM-B.
I was trying to get my Windows 7 PC to recognize the tablet and the sd card when booted into Android. I have the ROM manager app loaded. Something I read made me think that if I ran the "fix permissions" feature of ROM manager, I could get the Windows PC to see the drives. (It does this just fine when connected via USB while booted as the Nook tablet.) So -- fix permissions ran and did a chmod on a bunch of files. Now half of my apps are gone. I can boot into Nook and I can boot off the SD card. I can start my Wi-Fi and do most other things. I just can't get to all my apps. I did make a copy of the SD card to an external drive before I did this. And, I had moved all the apps to the SD card before I copied it. Can I restore (unfix) my permissions back to where they were and everything was working? I know,I know, - I'm an idiot. Everything was perfect and then I screwed it up. Can anyone help please?

hm. usually fix permissions from rom manager "fixes" problems with apps. let me just make sure i understand what you are trying to do...
you want your win 7 pc to recognize the two drives of the NT when connected via usb right? the userdata partition (1GB if you have stock partitions) and the external storage which is your sd card?
am i understanding you correctly?
if so, all you have to do to mount the two drives onto your computer is just to enable usb mass storage from the notifications drop down menu when the NT is connected to your PC by usb.

Yes, that was exactly what I was trying to do. And yes, I did figure it out and am able to see my NT and the SD card as drives in Win7. My mistake came in when I somehow thought not seeing the drives was a permissions problem. (From something I was reading.) When I ran the "fix permissions" in ROM manager, I lost half my app icons on my screens. I'm trying to find out how to get all my apps back!

usually a reboot and reinserting the sdcard after the NT has fully booted up with solve your problems with apps not launching.
EDIT: well since you are booting cm7 through an sd card then i am not sure why your apps aren't showing up... have you tried the "move to phone" option under maange applications in the applications settings?

This may have been the problem. Not all apps can run when moved to the "SD" card (which is really just another partition on the actual SD card). You should be able to simply reload the apps from their source (Google Play, etc.). An app call ZDBox can be configured to tell you, when you install an app, if that app can be moved to the SD card. The ability to move and app and have it function properly is based o the app itself and limitations therein. Again, all apps cans be moved, but not all will work when moved.

I took out the SD card, booted into Nook, powered down. Then I reinserted the SD card and booted into Android. The apps are all back. It's still a little wonky; if I move too fast for the OS, the whole things seizes up and I lose some apps again, but the above steps get every thing going again. Thanks for the ideas.

[Q] the whole writing to SD card thing. annoying now.

i've tried fixes via this site (including one from xposed. it's not a problem for most things but titanium backup just won't do it. the folder over a few weeks seems to go read only (checked via root explorer - can't give r/w rights) and just fails saying insufficient storage space.
i have to pull the card (can't mount as proper USB anymore - shame), create a new folder and move the content over. this works for a while but then i get the same again. something makes the folder read only.
other apps are able to write/delete etc to my mSD so the fix must work so what the hell is TB doing?
i'm on 4.4.2 (this rom from a while back)
any advice (bar flashing to 444? - might do that next w/e anyway)

Are you trying to get apps to store on your Micro SD card and not internal?
On the play store, if your phone is rooted there's a fix so you can write to the card. If you wanna save space I suggest downloading folder mount.

I would advise you to backup the contents of your external card. Then format the card by inserting it into the phone. & of course USING the phone to format it.
I had the same problem. I did this & touchwood, no problems so far. Hopefully it should work for you.

Anyways I think he's talking about the write issue in kitkat. Download SD card fix, you only need to run it once.
Oops! Big faux paus indeed! That is correct mate.
I will do a check on the SD Card fix. Seems interesting...
formatted the SD card and copied all back on - same thing happens. it's only an issue in TB for some reason. works for a while then stop.
tried the sd card fix too (must work i presume otherwise other apps would have probs too).
i'm not trying to install apps to the mSD (although would love if google brought that back).
Im using liquidsmooth rom and gdkernel. Still cant write into the sdcard. I tried all the app fixes and xposed..
Pls help.. .

Download that, you must have a rooted phone. I've had no issues with this app, only run it once. Upon success, remove it, done.
Yeah. Ive already tried that app and other. And also the xposed apps. Still didnt work. cant delete files and sd card.
