Does anyone else have extremely jumpy 4G signal quality with this phone? I am bouncing between 2-5 bars every few seconds. Once I set it to 3G preferred the signal stabilizes a lot.
Running MIUI 8 6.9.9 Global Dev Beta. Is there a known fix?
Thanks

What 3G speeds do you get with your Vibrant running on At&t's network?
I tend to see about 1.0-1.5mbit down and the same speeds up when i have 3-4/5 bars.
Also when you go indoors do you see a dramatic decrease in signal? I sure do and it annoys the heck out of me. But the weird thing is most of the time I still pull in at just under 1.0mbit down and same up.
Signal depends where you are at, In Hawaii I got decent ATT (TMO edge only) most places,
Here in SFO area I get Great connection with ATT indoors or out (I tested to see how it works here)
So, in Hawaii, 1-up 1-down on Att Here in Ca 3up 1.5 down
In Chicago area with strong signal I get up to 5.9 up and 1.3 down.
Im sitting here fiddling with my vibrant and I notice that whenever I have a low cell signal, my status bar indicates "H" (3.5g/4g?) and whenever I have a good cell signal, three or more bars, it throttles down to "E" (2g?), and the connection is slow as molasses...I have an unlimited data plan with family that allows for 2gb of "high speed" data before it throttles, but ive barely used only ~200mb of it in the past few weeks, mostly just listening to music on Slacker or Pandora occasionally. I noticed this at first when using Slacker while on the road; it would slow down and buffer very often when the data signal status was on "E", so I decided to do a bit of research...is this normal that im throttling down to Edge when I get a good cell signal?
If it helps any, im running ICS Passion v12 (went back from v13 because I lost headset button functionality)
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
edit - just to update, I did abit more research that lead me to the t-mo coverage check site thing, and it looks like the area I live in has spots where theres only 2g coverage (conveniently, theyre right in my neighborhood). I also did some driving around today and noticed 4g speeds were working fine in some areas when I had a good cell signal, so I guess that's that.
When I manually switch between 3g and 2g it drops the signal completely. When i go from lte to 3g it doesn't drop the connection or give me any errors.
This drop is enough that when I'm in a building i almost always have to have 2g forced. If i have 3g and someone calls i usually drop to 2g, but doing so causes the call to drop instead of handing it off.
I've tried to google it and I've seen this a few other times but I've never seen a clear reason why? Does anyone experience this or know a solution? It's done it on different phones over the last few years. All android too.
Someone must know something. I'm on t mobile in central Florida if that helps
I'm on MIUI dev. At my place the Jio service is pretty poor. I get the max. speed of 100KBps throughout the day, and only during the nights I am able to reach upto 3or4MBps.
But, what I've seen is that sometimes in between, my cell connects to some other Cell Tower (Jio's only). I can tell you this because the network strength is always full at my place but when it gets switched to the other Tower's signal, the strength is around 40-50%. And, suddenly the speed gets boosted upto 2MBps from 100KBps, for the brief 10secs. Then again the network strength goes full and the speed comes back to its normal.
So, what I think, is that there's another cell tower which is farther then this one but has less no. of users and hence better speeds.
So, is there anyway that I can switch to that network permanently. I've read about setting the phone's modem to a particular freq..
So, guys tell me what I can do.
TL; DR How can I use the other cell tower of my network which has better internet speeds but has weaker network strength.

Tested it. Works as it says, but the speed is still same. Hell, Im getting speed around 100kbps+ on Band 5, while on Band40 the speed is around 60kbps. Although the network strength is full in both bands.
Anyway, thanks for your reply. It must be problem with Jio services only.
Hello all,
I started to have some problems with signal strength.
It's not ROM-related (currently the newest CrDroid).
If I cut my WiFi and set the phone to prefer LTE signal sometimes I'm not able to use data. It's constantly switching between LTE / LTE+.
Sometimes it will connect and it's fine but most of the time it isn't.
It only happens in places when the signal is poor.
If I set the phone to prefer 3G it works perfectly normal.
My gf got the same phone and didn't experience that issue.
I believe that for some time after I received this phone it worked normally.
Maybe it's firmware related issue?
I heard about an issue with the poor signal on this phone...
Thank You in the advance for your answers.
