I moved to AOSPA from Chroma ROM on my N6 and there is one security feature I really miss: I would like to have the option that my phone cannot be powered down (access to the power menu) while the screen is locked and that you cannot access quick settings from a locked screen. Maybe this feature has been requested before, but the forum search did not work (I was assured the admins have been notified though.).

So, I would have posted this in the dev forum... but I can't post there yet (10 posts needed). I would have posted this in the CM forum too, but it's down.
Anyway after I enabled and used the lock screen notification widget I lost my lock screen. It didn't prompt me for my pattern, I didn't have to slide anything. It just took me right back to the last thing I was doing.
I fixed it by disabling my pattern (or pin/pass, whatever you use) and locking it. The lock screen will come back and you can now re-enable your patter/pin/pass.
Hope this helps someone.
Hi
Just bought the Galaxy SIII last week - have not tweaked it in any way (apart from rooting and using Go Launcher ex). Works great apart from a couple of things security related:
When I try to enrypt device or encrypt sd card there are no options to enter pin and the continue button is greyed out for both
I want to securely lock the screen with a pin but the first unlock screen to appear just requires you to slide the lock button to the right to unlock the screen enabling full access to the phone. I basically want the phone to immediately (and only) ask for a pin when it comes out of standby.
Thanks for your help!

S3 encryption - Solved!
Thanks madbob - had already done that. The problem was I was using Go Locker but hadn't enabled it in the Go Locker settings. As for the encryption not being available....I had a 6 digit numeric pin set but it requires an alphanumeric password before encryptioon is allowed.

There seems to be plenty of adequate little homescreen button apps to lock the screen. but they turn it off at the same time. I want the option for both. I already have one that turns the screen off, now I want a different one that just brings up the ICS default lock screen (the one that shows up just after turning the screen back on or at OS startup - if you set it to have lock security).
I'll put em in the icon group on the home screen.
It's cos sometimes I just need to lock the screen while carrying the phone for a short while [and don't want to touch something while grabbing it by the screen], then easily [without having to press the power button] unlock phone again to resume using it once I'm done carrying.
IS there one that does this? Without having to be its own lock screen app - I really just want to keep things simple.....
Thanks for your help.
I found a solution even better than I had imagined myself! Hidden Lock Pro! even easier and better for my needs than I myself thought of: I press its widget icon to lock screen, it's a simple blank ICS background which is locked to prevent accidental pressing on something, then even better than the default lock security needs (cos it's only while I'm carrying it, in secure environments, that i ever need to use this temp lock function), and I have it set to 'shake to unlock' mode to simply go back to my work when ready! PERFECT for my needs above .
Hi everyone,
first of all I want to say I'm new to xda-developers and also I couldn't find the GT-i9100 in the list for new posts so maybe this isn't the right place for this thread . in this case, sorry, maybe someone has a hint where to post it then
So here's my problem:
My phone won't enter lockscreen. Around three days ago it started to just resume back where I had left once I press the home button (the round one in the middle) without asking me for my PIN.
I had gotten the phone used, so I did a factory reset and afterthat I installed cyanogenmod, thus rooting it, but not manually - I guess the installer did that for me.
First I had a pattern as screenlock but after applying the full-disk-encryption it would only let me choose between PIN and passoword so I set up a PIN.
Then it just started to skip the lockscreen when waking up. I get still asked the lockscreen-PIN when booting, then the SIM-PIN, then the lockscreen-PIN again, then it boots, but when the screen turns black i can always resume by pressing the home button. Also, the power button just makes the screen black, but also without ever locking it...
What I tried so far:
Settings / Lock Screen / Screen Security / Automatically Lock set to 5s
Settings / Lock Screen / Screen Security / Power button instantly locks checked
Settings / Lock Screen - Widget Pager unchecked (i read it somewhere, can't find the exact source anymore)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/lock-screen-home-button-fixed-t1506317 --> also tried this method, also rebooted after applying every of these changes listed above
I hope this is not too much of a stupid problem because I missed something really obvious - although that would be nice
Anyways, i would really appreciate it if anyone knew a solution to this.
After all, full disk encryption isn't exactly useful if your phone is always unlocked...
Thanks in advance everyone!

I've setup two user accounts on my tablet, one for me and one for my daughter. The only way I've found to switch accounts is to lock the tablet. However I have it setup not to lock until it has been idle for 30 minutes. This means there seems to be no way to switch users but to leave the tablet alone for said time.
Is there no quicker way to lock the tablet or switch users (widget?)? The quick settings pull-down, menu has no such option.

No, I have it set to turn off the screen only (and want to keep it this way). So did Sony remove the change user quick setting?

This whole 30-min-timeout thing is not clever.
You should better configure it (e.g. with Tasker or Unlock with WiFi app) so that, when you're at home connected with your own WiFi, there is only the unsecure lockscreen (where you just have to swipe to unlock), but when unconnected from home WiFi, the secure lockscreen appears. In either case, you then have access to the lockscreen features like user switching.
