Hi guys,
I just got my Redmi/Xiaomi Note 4 and when I'm using social apps like Whatsapp, I am unable to expand the notification
For example someone sent me 10 messages, I can only see in notification that " XXX has sent 10 messages", I am unable to drag down this notification to display the 10 messages.
Is this normal in Xiaomi phones? As this is my first ever Xiaomi device.
I have never had this issue with my old phones like Nexus or One Plus etc.
I can't seem to find any setting regarding expansion of notification even if I have given full permission to Whatsapp.
Please do advise what should I do to enable the expansion.

So see all messages from contacts , instead of just showing a notification like :

I think you'll have to contact the developers if you want this feature. It's something Whatsapp has chosen to do.

I just came across this WhatsApp widget for Root which is able to display recent messages. I was wondering how the developers managed to get the data from WhatsApp.
As of now, I can think of three possible ways:
a) The widget refreshes its contents whenever it detects activity on the WhatsApp message database.
b) The widget "hooks" methods that get called in one of WhatsApps activities when new messages arrive and mirrors the messages into its own database.
c) The widget listens for push messages with the WhatsApp signature or listens for traffic between WhatsApp and their servers.
I use the termin "hooking" because of the way iOS tweaks are written, I have no idea if this is possible on Android. Which way is more likely? Any suggestions are appreciated
Let me elaborate on the background of my question: I noticed that WhatsApp groups new messages as a single item in the notification window. I'm thinking about selling my iPhone and getting an Android phone, but I would like to have a preview of all incoming messages like iOS's notification center.

Have a problem with getting notifications on sprint HTC one. I recently bought the HTC one after owning the iPhone 5 and miss how notifications were handled on iOS. I always got my notifications on my iPhone and loved how all app notifications were handled in one section in settings apps. I feel like notification settings are all over the place since I have to go into each app and edit notifications settings individually. My problem is that I rarely receive notifications for apps such as Facebook and instagram unless I open the app and refresh then I receive notifications in app. Is there anyway to fix these issues because I have auto sync on and background data enabled also.

Well there are some apps on Google Play that makes notifications organized but they are somewhat different from the iPhone Notifications.You can try apps like iPhone Notifications or Notifier Pro.Both have free versions but you can buy a paid one for couple of better features.Hope this is what you r looking for

Try Clearing Recent Apps for the problem of notifications for Facebook and Instagram not appearing, or Do you have to much apps installed?

my stratos (custom rom i got here, ver.2) is showing message notifications from the phone, thats what i want, not only it only shows last one from a contact (from whatsapp, for example) instead of showing every received message (as long as its limit would support) it keeps showing the badge count (like: whatsapp - 6 new messages).
i know theres nothing to be done about just showing one last message from a contact for now, but id like it to stop with the badge count messages. theyre kind of useless.
looked around either watch and phone (redmi note 5 prime with miui 9.something) and also online android forums but could not find how to change it.
You won't be able to do this using the stock app notifications, at least not in current version. You should try a third party solution, there are some available (3 as of now, 2 free and one with trial version: WatchDroid, AMF - Better Amazfit Notifications and Notifications for Amazfit).

Can I somehow solve this on the android, or is it only at the level of the Androyd kernel that is solved?

In settings---notification shade, you can choose between Android and MIUI style notifications.
See if that solves your problem.
