Recovery Issues - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys
I have Xperia Z2 and I am on rooted .291 with LB. I cannot get into recovery. I tried almost everything to install. Basically I want to use xposed. And wanted to make Nandroid backup before flashing xposed. Can anyone please help me to install the recovery.

Some of my tries went into bootloop. Please also tell me that is it safe to install twrp image from twrp manager as it warns before installing that the bootloader should be unlocked.

Downgrade, install recovery and then flash prerooted rom with pre-installed twrp. It's time consuming, but it's the easiest way.

Got the solution of the problem from this thread and it really worked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/mm-6-0-1-twrp-recovery-t3364871

EDIT: here is a link to fix recovery.zip https://mega.nz/#!NoVSlK5T!CPJDueW8nXiHEv-jjqo7U-CrrEa1nE2JTE8mWjn3NEs
How were you able to download "recovery fix.zip" from mega.nz ? The thread itself has been closed due to the download link not being available
I'm having same problem so could you please share recovery fix .zip ?

I searched the same file on Google. Tell me if you cannot find.

Download flashfire app from google play and flash xposed from there, in my case i tried about 5 times to get it flashed.

[Q] CM 11 EXPERIMENTAL NiGHTLY - Error status 7

------------- SOLVED! --------------
Hello all,
First of all I want to say I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs etc.
Currently I'm at stock 4.3 Jellybean and I want to flash my SGS3 to the new CM 11 ROM.
I rooted my phone following this tutorial: vvvvvv.telefoonrooten.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3-root/ (sorry if its in Dutch, but it uses the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 and Odin).
After I rooted I copied both the CM11 ROM and GAPPS to my external SD, I went to recovery and tried to install the new custom ROM but I got an error (status 7) and it was aborted.
Also if I try to reboot it won't boot normally as it should be but it goes back to recovery mode automatically...
I fixed to get back to Jellybean by flashing the stock rom (unrooting?) it via Odin.
Anyone else got the exact same problem as I do and knows a solution to be able to flash CM 11?
Thanks in advance,
Steelbear

FAQ (Read before post !!)
- If you obtain Error 7 when you tried to install ROM in CWM or TWRP
Install the latest version of CMW or TWRP

BTW latest philz touch recovery works too
Since you went back to stock and you already know how to root, I suggest you go to Play Store and download ROM Manager to help you install latest CWM recovery on your device.
Or you can simply go to CWM website, pick the version of the recovery for your phone and flash it via Odin.
Hope it helps.

Indeed it worked! I found it out myself yesterday. Went to the CWM site and downloaded the latest version (6.0.4.4.) and flashed it through Odin. But thanks for your input anyways (to all who replied) !
An alternative solution that I often use is to open the Updater Script in META-INF folder in the ROM's zip and delete first lines, where it gets device model as property.
Obviously it's an UNSAFE operation (because that lines avoid to install ROMs of other phone on mine) but when I'm sure that ROM I've downloaded is for my phone I do it and it works

[Q] backup before installing CWM?

Hi all,
Under stock recovery, I tried to run an update.zip, which is gapps package. I got: "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted."
I googled and planning to do the CWM things.
But, this Philips phone (android 4.0.4, one article says it's MTK device) is rare and no ROM available out there. So I have to be careful.
Could anybody please answer:
1>. Is there any MTK version of CWM?
2>. How do I backup BEFORE installing CWM? --- in case I want to get back stock recovery.
3>. If I got the wrong CWM version, is it just can not install CWM, or I can but very dangerous?
Thanks.

Thanks.
I viewed some tutorials and tried Goomanager and visited TWRP site, but my device is not in twrp's list. Can I just pick a relatively new version of twrp and install?
Finally I find in this forum a thread: [PORT] [TOOL] Carliv Touch Recovery for MT657x.
I successfully flashed recovery.
Thank you, sir.
I think I didn't helped you at all. LOL no prob

[Q] soft brick question when flashing Cyanogenmod 11

After I attempted to install the CM 11 preview that just came out it seems as though I get stuck in a boot loop. I am able to get into the bootloader but not the recovery. The reason I think I am stuck in the boot loop is because I did not know you had to flash the boot.img that was inside the .zip file, and went ahead and flashed the .zip in my current recovery. I am just wondering if I could still fastboot flash the boot.img file without causing even more problems.
Yes, in the forum the ROM was posted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/orig-development/z2-tabletdevelopment-cm11-android-4-4-t2809793) but I guess I didn't see that he said it was in the zip :silly:.
Nonetheless, I just don't want to hard brick the device so that is why I am asking. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help!

Just to clarify first, do you have a 4G tablet or wifi version? And which one did you flash (castor or castor_windy)

Opps, meant to mention that. I have the castor_windy version (Wi-Fi) model and flashed the castor_windy zip. I also meant to mention that I have an unlocked bootloader with the CWM based recovery (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708194). I don't think this is as important but I do have the 16GB storage. I earlier said I could not get into that recovery that I have installed, but the violet light still goes on when I boot, but nothing else.

Ok no problem, Have you tried flashing CWM through fastboot, then reinstalling ROM through CWM?
If that can't be done, Can you flash this castor_windy version https://mega.co.nz/#!mJ5VTATR!Rb9pX0a4drAkVX53Mjf6_vZr8FqX0UzXcf1nSTzj_Fk
through fastboot, then immediately flash CWM to secure a recovery.
The link is the castor_windy ROM without having to flash a boot.img separately. Thats your safest solution instead of flashing boot.img
Thank you, just re-flashing the recovery from the thread I linked seemed to do the trick. Maybe I will try and flash Cyanogenmod later now that I got the stock ROM working again. At least I was smart enough to make a nandroid backup in CWM before hand though!
Again, thanks alot!

Sent from my Xperia Z2 Tablet Wifi using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi all,
bad day for me... It seems that I bricked my Z2 Tablet tonight.
At the beginning, I just wanted to install CM11.
My Z2 is a SGP512 Wifi only. So, regarding the page http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/07/12/cyanogenmod-11-nightly-builds-start-for-xperia-z2-tablet/ , it says : "There are currently nightly builds for the Wi-Fi variants (SGP511, SGP512) of the Xperia Z2 Tablet under codename “Castor Windy”" .
So I downloaded Castor Windy and put it in the tablet.
After that, I did had to install a recovery. I succeeded to install XZDualRecovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794175). Once installled, I went into TWRP Recovery , started to wipe all. And next step, I began to install zip Castor Windy. At this time, TWRP tells me that Castor Windy is not for my tablet model. And I have to use Castor. Problem. I wiped all. So, I have to mount the Tablet systems and drives to put the new Castor zip downloaded. But I'm unable to mount. Nothing is mounted. I tried to use adb to connect while I was in TWRP but nothing worked. I wanted to use adb to send on one of partitions the new downloaded rom. I was unable to do that.
Finally, I shut down my tablet. I took the SD Card to put it into my PC and to put on it the downloaded Rom. And when I wanted to restart the Tablet, only the Sony Logo appears and I'm not anymore able to enter in recovery mode. ADB and Fastboot fail to detect my tablet.
I'm totally lost, and I fear that all is lost.
Please, help me, I just would like to enter recovery and flash Castor Rom.... :crying:
Thanks a lot by advance.
Tom.

P9000 Lite with CM13 - Trying to flash TWRP, bricks my phone.

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to flash TWRP because I want to make a backup of my phone, because I need to do a factory reset. And I need to do a factory reset because Wifi and Bluetooth aren't working...
So I installed the necessary driver for Windows 10, downloaded TWRP and when I flash it with Flash Tool, I actually get the message saying "Download OK"...but in reality, my phone doesn't boot at all. So I have to do this thing where you unplug your battery and flash it again (I don't flash a full ROM, just click on Download again while the Scatter file for TWRP is still selected). This is what happens every time I tried to install TWRP. On top of that, it seems like I have no recovery whatsoever now!
What am I doing wrong? I've already read from somebody in the thread for TWRP that he/she got it to work with CM13, so the issue can't be that I'm using CM13.
Do you really use TWRP for P9000 Lite or do you use TWRP for P9000 normal Version??
Nono, it's the Lite version.
This one https://forum.xda-developers.com/el...ent/recovery-twrp-3-0-2-1-p9000-lite-t3366126
The only other Version I can find is this:
http://www.needrom.com/download/p9000-lite-twrp-3-0-0/
I don't know if this helps you
Nope, that didn't work either.
Oh well...I've just flashed a Stock-ROM with a recovery that lets me flash CM13 again. I used Titanium to make backups of my apps. Wifi and Bluetooth still don't work but that doesn't belong in this thread.
Thank you though.

Hi.
Firstly I tried to root g5520 and i wasn't succeed to root but recently i made it to root using AZ Auto Root.
Now I want to install TWRP Recovery. I already tried "twrp-3.1.1-0-on5ltetmo.img" but failed and stuck at download mode and got software error and then i have to install software again.
I need TWRP to flash Gapps in Original Software because Orignal "SM-G5520_G5520ZCU1AQB1" Dont have Gapps.
Please help me to install TWRP and Gapps in Original Software.
Thanks
Search "g5520 play store fix" on Google.
Click on either "gsm-firmware" OR "gsmmarhaba" website they have the firmware with multilanguage and play store fixed.
I can't post the links because this my first post.
....and the TWRP you're trying to flash is for metropcs and T-Mobile. It will not work with "on5xfltezc" or "on5xfltechn".
