[Q] Xperia Z2 freezing unexpectedly - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening!
My significant other is the one who owns an Xperia Z2 and I just want to help her about what's happening to her phone.
The situation is that updating to Android 6.0 is not a good idea because ever since she updated her Z2, a persistent problem goes to show. Few days after updating to Android M, the phone lags every now and then and eventually ends up on a bootloop. Now on my part, I did a recovery through Sony Companion using a PC and then restored it to it's factory state. I thought we fixed the problem until few weeks passed and it happened again (lags-freeze-bootloop). I did the same process of restoring it every time it enters boot loop but the problem still arise.
I have little knowledge about how Sony Xperia phones work since it mainly relies on Sony Companion because usually Xperia phones have their bootloader locked unlike ASUS' and Samsung's phones.
I can't identify if this is a hardware or software issue because as for my observation, the problem just arise on Android 6.0
What could be the problem of her Z2 and what is the best possible solution to do?
Thanks in advance and God bless.

Use flashtool by androxyde to reflash the whole MM FW of your region and carrier. If it doesnt work, flash an older version of FW ( KK or LP ) to see if the problem still there.
Btw, is your phone rooted?

Thanks for the reply
Her Z2 isn't rooted, also there is no access to recovery mode since I can't enter recovery when I pressed the button combination.
Should I restore it with Sony Companion and then enable usb debugging so that I can enter recovery mode? If not, can you give me a heads up on what should I do? Thanks

Head over to flashtool and download an older android FW through it. And then flash it using flashtool.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z2 using XDA Labs

Got the same problem with the latest stock version of my carrier, which I believe is 6.0. This problem also appears with Existenz ROM v5.1.0 which runs Android 6.0.1. Will try an older version of Android and test if the problem keeps appearing.
Thank you all,

[Q] Xperia P reboot loop

HI ALL,
i have been facing a problem for last two days. I updated my Xperia P to JB using pc companion. It was working fine. Suddenly there was an issue in the morning the day before yesterday. It suudenly started to Reboot automatically.
First the logo of sony and xperia comes and dissolves. Then the default loading wave of xperia appears but instead of going to the lock/home screen it starts the booting process again and this process repeats.
I switched off my phone using lockkey+volume up. i tried to update/repair my phone using PC copanion and Sony Update service. Both case the latest software is downloaded and installed. But after installation when i try to switch on, it goes to the menu screen normally and asks me to select time format, language etc... but when it asks me to search for Wi-Fi networks if i touch on 'search for available networks' it falls in the same reboot loop again & the Home screen never comes..
afterwards, i skipped that step of WIFI and now it works fine.. but the problem is when i hit the WIFI it falls in the same loop. Now i am in a fix ... i dont know how to solve this and without WIFI there is just no use of this phone
the device was not rooted nor flashed before
What should i do? Try to flash my ROM?
PLZZ HELP ..THANKS IN ADVANCE

It's a long shot but have you tried to reboot your router?
Since it worked for a while, and you repaired the phone and it still exists, I am guessing it's not a problem that related only to the firmware.
Could be hardware problem.

I had several times my phone would not be able to connect while other devices did, bithing but rebooting the router helped.
Bootloops usually come from flashing a bad rom......... Never heard of this problem before....

Flashtool and Sony Update Service Error (please delete)

Hi all,
EDIT: IT SEEMED TO HAVE FIXED ITSELF - MODS Please delete thread!
I have had my Sony Xperia Z Ultra for a while now and experienced many of the bugs read on this forum.
When I saw the .532 update for the HK version I immediately went on to flash it officially via the Update Service (mine is the HK version).
It updated fine without but I couldn't turn the screen off fully and the backlight stayed on continously draining the battery very rapidly.
So I decided to restore the device fully via the Official update service and this when the problem occured.
It started updating without problems but after a few seconds it just stopped and told me there was an error.
I tried it a few times to no avail and get similar result with the flashtool.
If anyone has any suggestions fire away.
Also, BL not unlocked, not root and neither custom recovery.
Many thanks

Xperia companion - repair

In the last few days my phone started lagging badly. Apps often crash, some random restarts happen etc. So my question is: If I use Xperia companion to repair the phone (I understand all data will be lost that way), will I remain with some stock 6.0.1 MM, or this process downgrades the firmware to old 5.0 LP? I'd really like for someone to share his experience if he/she's done it before.
repair is not a downgrade dude
and i think XC wont let you to downgrade a software, if you wish to downgrade you can use Flash Tool

Random Android Crashes on stock firmware 23.5.A.1.291

Hi everyone.
I am writing for some help from the community. I own a a Z2, 16 GB D6503 which is now running stock US international filmware 23.5.A.1.291. I've had several random crashes where the cellphone is unable to react from. When this happens the last thing on the screen freezes and I have to forcefully turn it off using power button and up volume shortcut since it does not react to any touch.
It appears that happens randomly. I haven't identified what is triggering the crash (and is not very frequent but as very nnoying). Finally, I made a fresh install using flash tool to see if I could solve this issue but I had not much success. The device is not rooted and boot loader not unlocked.
I don't know what to do now.
Any suggestions?
i have on my phone filmware 23.5.A.1.291 over one year
and it newer chrashes or i had those probleme .
you can flash with flashtool the firmware new And if you still have such problems
Something is broken on your phone

Wifi and Hotspot Problem

Hi everyone,
I have a really annoying issue for a while and I hope someone can have a suggestion.
When i turn hot-spot on, my phone freezes and reboots itself, so i cannot use this feature, however if I connect it to my computer i can share my data by Bluetooth.
More annoying issue, if I try to connect to wi-fi when my data is on, it freezes and reboots again and after that I can connect, but if I disconnect somehow, it reboots again. When I turn the airplane mode on, there is not a problem..
Has anyone of you experienced such issue?
Thanks
Sounds like a corrupt system, probably network driver or baseband
SInce you don't mention anything else I suppose you're on stock ROM , still locked bootloader, no magisk and all that. Simpliest way if your not familiar with ROM and boatloader handling is probably to do a total reset to start with followed by an update. Xperia Companion can be used.
If you're famiiar with ROM handling you may get the latest ROM from XperiFirm which you flash with Newflasher

Hi pergoteborg,
Thank you a lot for your concern.
You are right, I am on stock ROM. I have tried to do a total reset, but it didn't work.
Moreover, I am living in Italy and using Tim Italia, few days ago I was in Austria and in there I did not have any problem when I connected to an Austrian operator. I tried with a different TIM sim card in Italy, it was same. I will try with a different operator as well, but I have not had time yet.
Does it pop up anything on your mind about what could cause such a strange problem?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
