6p still didn't receive 7.0 ota update - Nexus 6P General

Bought a nexus because I want fast update. And now it's almost a month after "official release" of Android Nougat and I still got nothing. I just couldnt understand with far less users than Apple, Goole still need to do this on batch, while any apple users can do it on pretty much the same day. I am really disappointed and if I still dont get it in next day or two then bye-bye nexus. I would rather buy a Samsung. I signed up for the beta program btw.

Lol dude side load the update the images been out

I completely believe it. Its been like that for 99% of the devices out there. By the time an Android update comes out the device isn't flagship so there is really no reason for them to update it. Yes the update is floating around there somewhere on some guys drive waiting to get pushed but who knows what Verizon has up their ass.
I monitor most of the apps I use and when I update, I read user comments
"Doesn't work on 4.4! Blah blah blah!!! You need to fix this "
....So why would a person like me want to have 4.4 if the app developers don't have their products fixed yet?
Just because something is new doesn't mean that you should have it. 4.3.x is stable....let's just wait until the bugs get worked out in 4.4...

4.4 is stable, and I only encountered one app that didn't work on it, and that was when it first came out.
Device came out ~3 months ago, and you're complaining we don't have a brand new OS version already? You're in for a lot of disappointments in the future FYI....
This discussion really should be taking place here. If it's absolutely necessary to voice your dissatisfaction with the update process, please do not create brand new threads about it.

Disgusting treatment of EU Axon 7 users

Hi,
Some really bad news for anyone that's been unfortunate enough to purchase an A7 EU version.
I have contacted ZTEUK on FB messenger directly to ask about the Nougat update and this is their exact response.
"Hi Mike, Please keep an eye out on our social channels for any information regarding updates. We do not currently have plans to update to Nougat though this may change. Thanks, the ZTE UK team."
Taking into account the amount of EU phones out there this is beyond dreadful in terms of treatment, the question is, where do we go from here? I didn't want to bother rooting the phone, but is there any option left now it's possibly not getting the update at all?
No daydream, no patch fixes, no volume fix, the list goes on!!
How do we pressure ZTE into dealing with this, failing that what other options do we have?
Mike
Haha I doubt it, these customer reps have no idea.
There has been an extensive Nougat test going on as well as confirmations on twitter etc.
G Version will get Nougat.

I hope so, that brings some comfort, really the reps should not give throw away replies like that.
Thanks :good:
Don't worry, it just furthers the idea that global organization of ZTE is totally lacking, especially for their EU customers (far behind their american ones). Nougat was announced first by ZTE Germany back in November (originally planned for end of january) and is currently undergoing beta testing as far as I know. The thing is, ZTE Germany is apparently taking care of the dev for the G version but they officially supports only german customers, even if they kinda tried to create an "european" community. Other european branches (it's the case for ZTE france at least) of ZTE seem to be only PR posting advertisement on facebook/twitter. IMO, your rep just copy pasted the basic stonewalling response to this question and has either no information whatsoever or wanted to answer politely without getting carried away.
(If anyone has more info, feel free to correct me)
G Variant will sure get the Nougat Update soon, ZTE UK should know this too dont know why you got this answer from them. But if you G Variant user, follow ZTE Mobile Deutschland on Facebook
Coming from US nougat. There's still bugs, battery drain, etc. Issues that are in the release. I'd rather be back in MM honestly. A stable and complete release would've been better instead of releasing early due to demand. Just look up the issue with whatsapp. Millions of users and they didn't notice such a glaring bug.
I can say without a doubt in my mind that the Axon 2017G will also get Nougat. They are usually a little behind the US team with releases so I imagine it will probably be sometime in March
I wouldn't be surprised if you could just flash the bootstack and modem from LineageOS thread and flash A2017U system on top. I'm totally satisfied with LineageOS, so I'm not even thinking on doing that now or in the future.
The G Variant needs more time than us because they want to fix all founded bugs and increase the quality. like musicdjm said, it will release end feb. or beginning of march. zte could Release it in the end of January but there were too many bug, because of that they started a beta test phase and postponed the Release date

@op When everything else fails, go to change.org and create a petition. The ASUS Zenfone 2 users did that and they are apparently getting the Nougat update in July.

Oreo Beta for S8 should be coming out around 4-6pm(European time/German time) today.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the news about the s8. You would think we would have gotten it first considering this is Samsung's latest flagship.

you have adb installed?
just plug your phone in and open cmd from adb folder and type
adb shell
then copy and paste the command
tip - you can right click in CMD and paste (ctrl=V does not work in CMD)

Yup. Seems like Samsung didn't want to recompense for Note7 fail and they only launched Oreo for S8. Note8 users will have to wait till 2018Q1 to get Oreo. What a joke.
I tried porting S8 Oreo to Note8 but there's too much BIG stuff that isn't compatible. There's a chance that Note8 will get Oreo at the end of this month and this beta will be available for most people in Europe. But I feel like Samsung really did leave us.
Quick update: Note8 most likely won't get Oreo beta anymore. So we will have to wait till January/February to get Oreo.
In the meantime I've tried porting Oreo couple of times. New betas etc. But none of them booted. After somehow "porting" the kernel from S8 it still doesn't boot. I managed to reach bootanimation but then it just bootloops. And it wouldn't be that bad but.. logcat just doesn't want to work. So I can't even check what's breaking the boot.
It's December already so I guess we can just wait another 2 months yay.. It's pretty sad to use Nougat which came out almost 2 years ago.

Can You just LEAVE me alone?
Thank You.
Btw, Note 5 got beta, Note 7 was recalled so obviously no beta, so Note 8 should get beta as well. But it seems like You're deciding for Samsung which device should get beta and which one shouldn't.
Edit: Added You to ignore list so I won't be able to see Your messages anymore. Find someone else to be mean to .
Also, at least I'm spending a lot of hours trying to port Oreo to our devices because there are 100s of people waiting for it, even my users are asking about it. And You're just saying "STOP WHINING!" "NOTE 8 WON'T GET OREO BETA!!" . It doesn't really help anyone. Instead of being mean You could help me and other devs with porting Oreo. We just need someone with reverse engineering skills and smali/assembler knowledge.
Oh and why not just wait for official release? 3 reasons.
1. It will take at least 2 more months to get official Oreo(Depends on region too).
2. Porting roms is a lot of fun and gives me a lot of new knowledge.
3. I have cancer and other health problems and I can't wait. Tomorrow I might die or in 2 days or in a week or a month or a year. And my blood results are getting worse so if I can do something about Oreo then I will.
Some of us REALLY can't wait .

As for all the others who read this, here is a little more explanation:
He is the technical chief officer of zte and stands in direct contact with the dev team. He is also the reason we got the zip for disabling system write protection in the first place. Without him i wouldn't have gotten the update.zip (with disabled system write protection) and @raystef66 couldn't have made a flashable zip for us.

VoLTE should work on any of the big Oreo ROMs. WFC is hit or miss (even on stock ROM). I'm assuming Oreo is gonna be the last android version we can install and still have these things work (unless some dev out there finds a way to get past this roadblock in the future). Either way, I kinda doubt ZTE would provide any further updates for us beyond Oreo. I'm assuming that the response given in the OP meant that they would fix everything that's still broken and missing on 8.0; not begin development for Pie (especially since the Axon 10 is just around the corner, pulling resources into a 3-year-old phone just isn't a sound decision from a business standpoint).

It is if ZTE expect some form of customer loyalty on future purchase decisions. Would you buy the Axon 10/11/12 etc. based on your Axon 7 experience? Yes they had disruptions from trade sanctions etc. but that's not the consumers fault and imo ZTE should be doing everything they can to restore faith in their brand.
They're basically starting again.
They need an affordable flagship like the Axon 7 was. If they don't, it will be hard to gather enough sales to start a customer pool and try for return purchase later on.
Current customers are wary, sceptical and untrusting after that whole fiasco and rightly so.

They just need to copy and paste the Axon 7 with newer specs.
Maybe bumping it to 6" in order to have more internal space would do the trick.
I still can't understand how did they think that the Axon 9 Pro was a good idea. They litterally took all that was great about the A7 and...deleted it.
Now...a bit of an on topic question. Instead of releasing 8.0, could they not enter the Android One program with it...especially since they were aiming for stock experience?
Maybe it's been asked before, but what are the implications of entering the AO program, because IIRC, I may have read some time ago something about a partition not existing on the device and ZTE not gambling with a large release, but I can't remember specifically?

The vendor partition stuff is something else entirely. Some people believed that ZTE would bring Treble support to the Axon while that made very little sense (Treble is a requirement for phones that SHIP with Oreo and above, but it's optional for Oreo, and its main advantage is it makes it easier for OEMs to update major Android versions). It was developed by djkuz and NFound eventually anyways, but only because of the generic ROM benefits
I don't think you can simply slap Android One certification on the middle of a product's life, but even if they could, it would make absolutely zero sense for them... Why be commited to security updates and newer Android versions on a phone that has surely stopped giving any revenue since long ago? Plus I'm not even sure if people prefer stock Android to stuff like One UI where you have a bunch of options
Do not expect to much from ZTE for the Axon 7. Until now they did not release a stable OS and it will not change for the next update.

Marshmallow and Nougat were perfectly stable, if not the chinese versions. i'd say that counts.
The important thing is them fixing Daydream because it doesn't only entail adding daydream back, to run it properly you need to have thermals and the kernel properly tuned. Daydream should put the phone at ~1.3 GHz but I believe they'll have to mess around to make it work as intended anyways
plus all this is useful for LOS
Marshmallow and Nougat had a very bad design and UI because of mifavor. Oreo is nice but extremly unstable.

All I'm saying is, @GodOfPsychos contacted this ZTE guy, he said that an update was going to be released, and then XDA'S EDITOR IN CHIEF contacted that guy and got the same response (with which an article was made). They can bail at any time, but it's not like they are promising Pie anyways
I'm guessing you can't see the attached screenie in the OP? I can see it just fine from XDA Labs
We won't get official Android Pie for Axon 7.
The most I read into that is update to include cut out features like Daydream, probably a security update too. Just a finish of what Oreo 8.0 was supposed to be. I don't think we will even see official Oreo 8.1
If they had just kept with the whole "best sounding phone" idea I'd probably already have bought another ZTE. It was the thing that distinguished them in the crowded market of samey-same phones. At this point I'm clinging to my Axon 7 with my tight little hands, and any update to its stability will be appreciated. [Full disclosure, I'm running the GSI Liquid Remix unofficial build of Pie, but if they do update the official Oreo and get it rock solid, I could see downgrading just to be on an official ROM.]
