Hi !
I come from Z, than Z3....
I find the battery life from XA Ultra is a little low compared tl the other Z i haved..
My phone is unlocked bootloader, rooted, recovery installed.
A little big debloated ?, only 60 private apps (no Facebook, no Instagram, only whastapp...)
I use kernel audiutor in order to tweak a little the kernel, and i emelated init.d with a little tweaks for battery life...
However, ican only have 10 hours with my battery with 100%, i had 2 days with my Z3....
How is Your battery life?
Any idea?
Thanks a lot!
Whats your screen on time ? I was thinking of getting a xa ultra but not sure if I wanna if battery is bad. Also how quick does your charge to 100?

Screnn is 50% pro Day on.
I need 3 hours to have 100%.
At the moment i have 97% but only 11h...
But its probably due to my personal tweaks or apps or xpoded modules i,ve install, that s why i need some avis other users from XA Ultra....
That's just en estimate based on your latest usage. Pay no attention to the calculated time. Your real usage is what counts.
Battery life is bad on this phone. For being a 6" phone it's very bad. I get 3-6 hours of screen on time depending on usage. It's modem doesn't seem power efficient neither does the processor. Battery drops quickly both in standby and in usage.
My Honor 8 has much better battery life than this phone. However I knew this before buying you can't do magic with a 2700mAh battery. I bought this phone cause it looks good. It lasts me a full day for the most part but if you start pushing it battery won't last.

Where did you get the recovery from? As of my current writing, there aren't any TWRP recoveries for Ultra XA single sim and there aren't any guides on XDA on how to install the recovery. Can you share?

Hi, TWRP is in the rootpack for XA Ultra SS with a boot.img and SuperSu zip. You can find it on Xda (XA Ultra forum).
Follow the XA root guide after you downloaded the rootpack for your device, on Xda too.
Please search a little and it's not the good tread for root questions. You have a Q&A thread if you need.
I just got mine a week ago and it's splendid.
Haven't really got around to mod it, it's stock, but It performs quite well, and I use it heavily too.
What definitely is a bonus is how fast the battery charges. I get about 40 % in half an hour.
I get that the battery being smaller is a factor here but I like those numbers.

Hi!
I just got my Xperia Mini Pro (a week ago).
I immediately flashed it with CM10 #146 and overall I'm satisfied with it's resoponsivness and performance. The only thing that worries me is horrible battery life, I just charged it this morning and now, about 6 hours later (20 mins of talking, about 15 messages) my battery's at 35%. I'm not using any data conenction, I have switched it to 2G only, my signal is strong, I have reduced screen brighness to about 75%, and I keep both BT and GPS off. I do use wifi, but that's like 10 mins a day. My phone came with a 1160mAh battery, which I know is not the most powerful one, but baraly 1 day of batteyr life in a brand new phone, and being forced to charge it every evening just scares me
Is this normal for these Xperias? My old Wildfire used to last about 2-2,5 days.
Yes. It is normal for me. I charge my phone everyday.
You can lower your brightness or apply battery tweaks to preserve battery life

You can try another kernel, for instance MESA 2.2, and undervolt a bit. I get about 2 days of battery with that kernel and some init.d and build.prop tweaks.
I don't really fancy any of those ubertweaked-hardocre-v6-megaoptimized kernels and stuff. Cyanogen mod does the job for me, and I don't really want to "overtweak" antything I'm just gonna have to stick with what I have I guess.
I don't think that flashing it with stock FW (which I'd hate to do) will help it?
Christ... I don't get it... A friend of mine has an Xperia LWW with the same battery, the same CPU, and she charges it like three times a week, while I'm gonna have to charge it like seven times a week. It's just wrong. I hope that the battery will get a bit better over time, and I'll be able to use for at least 24h without looking for the charger.

Yeah man, but i guess she hasn´t flashed cm10... ROM consumes battery as well. If you were on stock firwmare as i guess she is, then you would have almost the same battery backup
Always check that sync is off. Cause it will drop battery bar easily. Of course in case you don't need sync.
And check build.prop. there's 2-3 lines which will help the phone to deep sleep better. (Search xda)
I myself use aokp jb with messa kernel and with normal usage it takes me 1.5 day.

Best Comb
I respect all the developers but with due respect and personal opinion:
Kernel : Kernel PAnic v2.5(ICS) and Rage 3.0(GB)
ROM : Smultronic v 5.0(ICS) and Spartan v2.05(GB)
Brightness : 40%
Sync off
I get a usage of about 2 days on both of these roms...and if u are a light user i mean if u play no games them HyperBeamCream is really good for ICS.
well...1 day battery life is abt normal for our fones which have1200 mah battery,,,,can't help it:crying:
well the simplest way to take a step for solution is changing kernel to mesa cause with fxp 146 kernel there was a horrible battery drain for me also. Reduce the screen brightness & turn off 3g if u dont need it
i suggest mesa with CM10 too .
You could also decrease processor speed in standby, I think normally it's 250 but you can put like 125.
In cm10 mesa kernel does the job... It really saves the battery... And one more thing is that, give it some time... The battery will become normal after a few days of usage...

Hi guys,
I have been here a while, tried few ROMs but I can't decide and that's why I am asking for an advice. Which ROM is better in a battery life? I am using stock 4.4.4 right now with stamina on, and I hardly get 3,5-4hrs of onscreen time. I am using a smartband which is connected all the time via bluetooth and I am aware that it may use some battery, but still it is very disappointing. I've checked my wakelocks many times and nothing suspicious was found so I am seeking a different solution.
The question is:
Is GPe better? How much of onscreen time do you have without using any batter savers like DS Battery, or 2x Battery? I tried to use GPe ROM once but I was paranoid and thought that I have kind of a battery drain.
Usually the Sony rom has better battery life. For me at least. I get an average of 5 hours screen time or more, without stamina mode. I don't use a smartband though so i can't say anything about that. GPe rom had worse battery for me, anyway. Especially the standby time is far better on stock Sony. 4-5% drain overnight vs barely 1% drain overnight. I pick stock Sony for better battery

Thanks for your input. I have an 4-5% overnight drop on stock, so I assume that smartband with its advertised BT 4.0 LE isn't as easy on battery as I thought.
It all depends on what you're doing with your Ultra, and what type of apps you're using.
I can squeeze out around 6 hours of screen time if I feel like it, but I normally get around 5 hours on a regular day. I don't really play games (maybe a couple of minutes of Threes), but I use Hangouts, read a lot of news (using Press) and reading some more using Pocket and Google Books.
I don't know what type of smartband you're using, but KitKat supports BLE (Low Energy Bluetooth), so be sure that your smartband also supports it, so it doesn't run on "regular" full powered Bluetooth. BLE uses very little battery and you shouldn't really notice any major shifts in battery usage by using it.
Are you using an IM app like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Snapchat? These types of apps are known to drain batteries like crazy.
I'm running the GPe ROM BTW. Keep in mind that your battery life won't be good after flashing a new ROM. It'll need a couple of charges again, so be sure to completely drain your battery to 0% after flashing, and charge it up to 100% before removing it from the charger (to calibrate the internal battery monitor).
I am not a big gamer also, I very rarely play games. Mainly I am reading xda and news on the internet like you.
I use Sony Smartband and it supports LE, but after reading your post I realized that the app which downloads and process the data from it may be a battery hogger (Lifelog app).
Yeah, I have WhatsApp installed but use it rather occasionaly and when it comes to battery calibration, I try to recalibrate it by draining it to 0% almost everytime.
What brightness settings guys are you using?

Try not to drain the battery completely every day. Put it on the charger before it turns itself off, or else you risk damaging the battery cells down the road. It's fine to do it a couple of times a month though. I use auto-brightness, so I guess it's around 50-60% most of the time. I have it at 100% when i'm out in the sun though.
Oh and there's no point in using battery savers. They tend to decrease battery life for me i usually keep the brightness fixed at 70% and i constantly use Viber and Whatsapp. Yet a 1% drain overnight without Stamina mode. So i guess the problem lies with your Lifelog app

I am on the GPe 4.4.4 ROM with DoomKernel v20, DS Battery Saver and Greenify. The drain with WiFi on is around 0.9% per hour in standby, screen on time lies somewhere between 5-6 hours.
As a reference, I recently flashed my Xperia Z with Ultimate PureX stock based ROM (I use that device mostly as a camera with QX10 and for experiments). When I compare those two, I prefer GPe.
I feel that the combination of Google/Sony vanilla and Sony apps together with Xposed Framework gives a better experience, especially with the Ultra 240 DPI phablet mode. The Sony ROMs based on 4.4.x break the notification bar on 240 DPI, unfortunately (at least Monxdified based on .757).
It is worth to mention that the GPe ROM can be equipped with Sony Album, Clock, Movies, Notes, Sketch and Walkman etc - even Sony launchers are available for it. So it is possible to get a vanilla experience with great Sony apps on the side, without having to go back to a Sony based ROM.
On the other hand: If there's confirmation that the "240 DPI breaks the notification bar" problem has been solved in .108 - it would be great. To me, the Ultra needs 240 DPI phablet mode in order to be really enjoyable.
Hello all,
I have a rooted Z2 with xposed modules, amplifier, greenify etc and my battery life is terrible; about 2 - 3 hours SOT at max.
I would like to know if that's normal or if I can do something about it?
More info; I have LTE on all the time, adaptive screen brightness too

LTE kills battery life especially with my Z2. Have you replaced your battery? My hasnt been replaced so far but the battery is starting to drain a lot quicker nowadays so probably time to replace it
I didn't replace mine so far, but that's why I wanted to check before maybe doing it. I'll try disabling LTE
It cant be the LTE. For me my LTE is always on and i got 8-9 sot with playing games , hear music from spotify , twitter , E-Mail , YouTube and more. And i dont replace my battery any since the z2 was released.
I think thats Rom releated an services thats running backround with LTE use
I am also using lte I get around 4-5 hours of battery even sometimes 6 but my battery is brand new. I have Cr based xperia ui by M-Rom
Thanks guys for the answers, could you please tell me if your devices are rooted? I've heard conflicting reports about greenify and xposed.
Just waiting before making a factory reset, but I'm not sure it would help

Thats impossible if LTE was on and playing games you just can't get that kind of sot even the latests phones can't do that!
Nobody say that i Play Games. Daily use like by me Twitter, Music, Spotify, xda, Browsing
Here Akku was at 14%
How old is your battery? Mostly appears that your battery has disintegrated quite a bit, and there's cannot be any confliction between Xposed and Greenify. I have been using the combo since Android K and they have been serving me very well.
Since the Sirius was Released.

Hello guys,
My question is which ROM seem to be best for you in battery life? Im talking about my R3Pro(ido) device. I've been using xiaomi.eu's stables from beginning which has great 8h SOT, but now experiencing like 3h SOT with LineageOS 14 always updated with Xposed and all day data/WiFi on. Any ideas? Should I change back to MIUI?
Thanks

U can try:RR,SudaMod,Lineage OS 15 Unofficial or PixelExperience 8.1.
The UNTEST-20171122 version of Resurrection Remix N has the best battery life for both screen on and off time, hands down. Was a lifesaver in a recent job where I listened to hours of podcasts per day to keep sane. Keep away from Oreo ROMs for the time being, theyre still largely broken apart from PixelExperience (which instead has the fun problem of ridiculously fast battery drain.)

No. The only things I flash on my device are the ROM, GApps and Magisk. The battery usage when the screen is off is the prizewinner here. It rarely goes down more than 2% after being left for more than 2 hours, which is ideal for me. Still though, I'm pretty sure I get more than 3 hours of screen on time. Learn to use some basic battery saving methods; turn the brightness to 50% or lower, turn off wifi or data when you're not using it...or better yet, learn to restrain your usage of it when out and about
When I go out, the phone is generally being used consistently all day via me using Bluetooth headphones along with some occasional use of 4G data. It usually never gets past the 40% mark by time I'm back home and I'm usually out for more than 5-6 hours per day. Honestly I'm not personally sure what the issue with having to charge it daily is...I've never had a phone which didn't require such a task, with the exception of things like the original Nokia 3310.

I did the same on my friend's phone: Rom, gapps mini and Magisk. I can't tell you about his usage of the phone, but I've seen battery stats and it just can barely reach 3 hours of SOT, the usage is mostly of socials and music.. This rom here and latest LOS builds are just very battery draining, I don't know what to do with that phone! Anyway, thank you for the reply and the tips, I'll let him know!
What about MIUI? Maybe the EU version? Somedoby that tried that out can tell which will be the pros and the cons? Is it still on Lollipop?

Ahh, social media apps can very easily drain the battery from what I remember. The Facebook app is especially bad for it if I recall correctly. Perhaps grab a Wakelock detector app, see if anything is keeping the phone awake and then use Greenify to stop the apps from doing that.
With regards to MIUI, I seem to recall stock MIUI (from the official Xiaomi site) definitely having the best battery life out of every other rom I've used, with MIUI.eu not being as good but better than other custom roms. In terms of pros and cons, there isn't much. It works a little differently to regular Android so there's some bothering aspects to it (such as the Files/Documents app being disabled by default for some unexplained reason, meaning you have to re-enable it after every reboot.) And yes, It's still on Lollipop sadly, meaning apps like password managers etc can't use the fingerprint scanner.
Honestly I'd say wipe everything on the phone, clean flash RR-UNTEST and then slowly re-add all the apps and see if one in particular causes heavy battery drain.
Hello there, i currently have an Xperia XZ that i rooted with the Duality Rom set (The pre Oreo version as i had the unfortunate luck of having the computer with all my backups and whatnot die on me taking them with it). My question is i'm looking at making the jump to the S9+ and since i'm in Australia i'd have the Exynos version and i was wondering if anyone has an idea what the battery life is like in comparison the the stock XZ. Would be much appreciated as if it at least is in the same ballpark as a minimum then i'll very likely pull the trigger and jump in.
Well don't have a xz to compare it but can tell u that 5 hrs of SOT is the rule but depends what u do with. Love all of the phone just the battery is crap. My iPhone 7 plus with the night charge would last me all day with the same usage and to be fair would get back home with 30% with this charge it all night and then at work need to charge it again. But also depends how u use it I use it a lot.
