No signal - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi all, I recently got an S4 SCH -I545L from a friend to help him
But I faced an isue with it, it receives no signal at all, It just shows an icon with a circle inside in diagonal
At first the I thought it was siölocked so i strugeled to get into service mode using shortcut master for the conventional dial method didnt work. But to no availm after following the desimlock procedure, still nothing(Seems like it wasnt even simlocked since i found no NV golden backup)
Then out of a sudden when explorimg secret codes i found out that my IMEI says unknown, so i tried every possible thing to fix tha
I tried to install Xposed so as to install Xposed IMEI changer, but I was unable to install xposed for various reasons
Then i tried a lot of things i found on the web, but still nothing, seems like this issue is very complex
Im running android lollipop 5.0.1
Regards, hope someone can help

Come on, s o no one can help me out here ?
Really?
In the whole XDA community?
This is really sad

I don't know if my problem is exactly the same as yours, but I also have a no/very low signal after adding an AT&T SIM card to this phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...rizon-samsung-galaxy-s4-sch-1545-att-t3459764
So far as I have googled, my IMEI number is clean.
EDIT: For your particular problem, it might be helpful to know what carrier SIM you're using and whether that SIM is specific to the phone or not.

I used a SIM tool app to verify SIM card, and it said it's locked to Verizon, but a lot of properties are listed unknown, so it's definitely not connected to the network
I think it's a CDMA/LTE phone but I tried and none works

sarcasim is a good thing but maybe you aren't comprehending what i am saying duhh!!
i own NSPRO box and have unlocked the galaxy S phones quite frequently, the phone is sim unlocked for any sim card or gsm carrier, what i am saying has nothing to do with unlocking with the sim card in( which i tried for ****s and giggles). the problem is the vibrant is not recognized on the network , i have tried my sim and several other t-mobile sims the phone doedn't receive signal on t-mobile network or simple mobile( which is a NVO of t-mobile)so what i am asking is does t-mobile block imei's from their network and is their a solution other then changing imei of the phone which i do not wish to do although i can change imei i will not since it is illegal.
the problem
let me clarify it actually says on the screen
"not registered on network"
anyway to register it on system???
its unlocked and works on at&t, h2o and all other gsm carriers except t-mobile and simple mobile
clone another imei, that will solve this problem, There is an app that allows you to give you a new I D # to your phone
I am same problem here everytime try to make call it says "Not Registered on the Network", SIM card works fine on different phone, also other SIM when inserted on Vibrant gives same message.
Under Settings> Wireless> Mobile network settings does not allow access...
Can someone help resolve this situation.
Thanks,
I am also
having the same problem. I purchased a used Vibrant from my friend whom defaulted on his bill so he sold his phone to me. When I attempt to use the T Mobile prepaid SIM or a regular T Mobile SIM it will not allow me to connect to the network. It stays on (Searching) or (No Service) but the date and time updates so I know it is connecting, just not able to use the network. Is there anyway to get around this problem or do I need to root and unlock to go to another carrier?
Hi guys I am having similar issue, please help
I was using bionix 1.3.1 by team whiskey, whats your advice do I change to ICS, will that solve the problem or simple radio upgrade will solve the matter? I have gone through several sites and found that this problem is with many android mobiles since last 2-3 years. Is there no solution to this yet! I have tried Airplane mode, removing battery, downloading autocut and all those basic methods but to no help ...
I have the same problem, did anybody find a solution?
I tried everything, flashed to stock, GB, ICS, JB.
My phone is unlocked and it only works on AT&T, the sim card is good, as I'm using it on my backup phone.

Same here. This all happened when I let my friend borrow my phone to put his SIM on it. It was a prepaid Simple Mobile SIM. It didn't work but after I went to put my SIM card back into my Vibrant, the phone never got service.
Funny thing is, my SIM works on one of my older phones, so I know the SIM still works, but my Vibe gets messages like "out of service" and "not registered on network" even through it still has some bars.
I think the problems relates to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37703090#post37703090
Somehow the bands on your device is messed up so you never get a signal. Not sure how to fix it but any solutions would be great.

[Q] Not Registered on Network

Hi all. Just after a little help if possible.
Bought a 2nd hand S2 and was told it was locked to Virgin, before I bought it I made sure I saw the buyer make a call with the Virgin SIM on the phone.
I downgraded from ICS to 2.3.5, rooted the phone and used unlock tool from Market to unlock the phone. Tried several SIM cards in the phone, but I cannot connect to any mobile networks. In Phone Status, it shows phone number, signal strength etc but when I try and make a call is shows ‘Not Registered on Network’
I went out and bought a PAYG Virgin SIM card as I thought the unlock may not have worked correctly and exact same thing happens. Put the Virgin SIM in my unlocked HTC Desire and works fine. So, its deffo the phone that has the problem. I checked the IMEI number online to see if it had been blocked but it looks ok.
Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance.
Hi
A few things to check/try -
Does the IMEI number displayed by typing *#06# into the dialer match the IMEI number on the back of the phone (Under the battery)?
When you put a sim card in (other than Virgin) do you get a message from the phone asking for a network unlock code?
Does the network name of the Sim card appear in the status bar?
Which app did you use to unlock the phone? I've used Galaxy_S unlocker several times without any issue. (I install a ginger bread rom first, then insecure kernel, then root, then run Galaxy_S Unlock)

Check ur imei no dial *#06#
verify that imei no with the one beneath ur battery
if it same then try flashing the stock rom again and root it and try unlocking again using the unlock soft from play store
Yes, the IMEI number matches so no problem there. Have been onto several free IMEI check sites to see if the IMEI number is blocked and it shows as not being blocked. How reliable these sites are I do not know...
No, no unlock message comes on. However, I locked the phone again when rooted and put the Virgin SIM in, which it should be locked to so should work, and I got a SIM unlock message? So, when the phone is locked, it does ask for unlock code, when unlocked using the app, lock code doesn't appear.
I do not get the name of the network in the status bar. When I look at the phones status, it does show a signal strength, and I do sometimes get signal bars but when I try and use the phone I get 'Not registered on network'
I used Galaxy_S app and did everything that you have done!
Have tried flashing stock rom, rooting and unlocking and nothing seems to work.
Worried that I may have bought a nice, expensive media player...
If your IMEI matches up with the one under the battery then I really don't know why you can't get a signal. Maybe someone else on here will give you some better advise. It sounds to me like you did everything right. The obvious thing would be if the phone is on the blacklist (stolen phone, or reported as stolen, 2 different things!). I wasn't aware of any sites that can tell you if the phone is reported as stolen so can't comment on how accurate they are.
Hope you get it sorted, it's the best phone out there at the moment so would be a shame if you can't make calls on it.
have you tried with diferent modem? or diferent rom?? or both at the same time?
for the modem try KI3 or KI4, seems to work pretty fine for almost everyone..
have you tried
hi have you tried going to
settings>wireless and network>mobile network>network operators
and checking the settings in there are set to autoselect network.
if this does'nt work +1 for all posts below.
hope it does.
also not sure but i think sim lock is set in security settings and the pasword for unlocking is stored on the sim that password was put on. anyone feel free to correct if this statement is wrong. many thanks

[Q] "Can't connect right now. Try again later." or equivalent in stock, CM9 and CM10
Hi folks! Needing some help, please.
I've googled my problem a lot but couldn't find any working solution. Below is the detailed history.
I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300, cut my previous SIM, and used it for about four weeks with no problems. During this time, I rooted my phone, backed up the stock ROM, installed CM9 and afterwards CM10.
About a week ago, while using CM10, I switched off airplane mode after about nine hours and the signal power meter was empty. All the services related to my carrier (SMS, 3G, calls) were inoperative. I rebooted the phone, tried removing and reinserting the SIM, with no success.
I tried flashing the previous backups, also with no success, but noticed that while using the stock rom, the signal meter was full. This prompted me to access "Settings > Wireless (...) > More... > Mobile Networks > Network Operators", where to my surprise all the available carriers were listed. I did the same check in the rural area of my town, where I know my carrier does not work, and the cellphone correctly detected only the other three carriers.
These symptoms led me to believe that my cut sim could be the problem. I got a microsim from my carrier, but the problem persisted.
After this, I assumed the problem was software related, googled it and found some recommendations:
Complete wipe and backup restoration: this was not successful with stock, CM9 and CM10.
Complete wipe and stock ROM re-installation with Odin: also not successful.
Modem flashing with Odin: also not successful.
Firmware flashing with KIES: I put the cellphone in download mode and made the firmware recovery procedure from KIES. Also not successful.
Restoration of efs folder and IMEI related issues: I did not have backup of this folder, but the symptoms related to the problem in the posts I found always included the absence of IMEI. When I type *#06# in my phone, I can correctly see my IMEI, so I discarded this possibility. My carrier also informed me that my IMEI is not blacklisted.
I thought of getting a new microsim to rule out any SIM related issues, but still haven't done it.
Information regarding my phone:
Phone model: GT-i9300
Baseband version: I9300UBLG2
Firmware vesion when on stock (from KIES): PDA:LJ1 / PHONE:LI2 / CSC:LJ2 (ZTO)
Could someone please help me? I still have not tried the EFS folder troubleshooting, but the procedures I found were related to problems that did not show the same symptoms as mine. Do anyone have any suggestion? Please tell me if any more information is needed.
Thanks!
Why not just get a micro Sim to begin with....they don't cost anything and it saves a whole lot of hassle. My guess is the sim reader is damaged....IF and WHEN you decide to get a new micro sim, if it doesn't work then that could be the only cause and the service centre your only option. Seriously dude, next time to save yourself hassle....go an get a micro sim from your carrier, I wouldn't even think about hacking away at an old sim because I can't be bothered to walk to a Vodafone shop.

I have just come back from the carrier store, where I got a new SIM, and the issue persists. I also double-checked any IMEI blocking or problems with my services, and everything is ok.
Coincidentally, a Samsung consultant was around. He checked my phone and talked to Samsung tech support describing the issue.
They do not think it is related to the cutting of the SIM card for two reasons, the first being the ability to locate the carriers, the second being the fact that a visual inspection of the slot and the scratch marks on the SIM card do not indicate a broken or bent contact.
Obviously, he recommended that I send my phone to an authorized Samsung service center for maintenance.
I am still inclined to think it is a software related issue. I will, of course, send my phone to Samsung if it is case, but in the meantime I would like to try new procedures to bring back my phone's ability to connect to my carrier.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
An additional information:
I tried checking my sim through some apps, to confirm there is no damage in the contacts. GalaxSim Unlock is able to detect my sim and correctly show my phone status as unlocked.
Any suggestions on tests?

Hi!
I bought S939(not completely new), which from what I understand is not a device that's created for the European market. In order to make it function, I believe that the device was rooted\modified. Now, I can perfectly use it to go on the internet, make photos ecc, but when I put my SIM , I'm unable to "catch" the network of my provider. A message "Can't connect right now. Try again later." appears. I can save numbers on the SIM, for example, but unable to register on the network.
Also on the main screen, I can see writter "Invalid IMEI".
Thanks!
no backup imei ? try flash stock, should repare imei (i think) - but i have phone with mediatek and cant flash (get error)
Was the issue ever resolved, I'm having same problem with my i9300 on virgin mobile. My phone works fine on giffgaff.

[Q] SIM card not working

First of all, I'm in the US. I bought the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100 (I'm in the right forum, yes?) off of ebay.
From what I remember, when I received it, it had some weird ROM that I had never heard of and can't remember the name of, along with clockworkmod recovery already installed.
I put cyanogenmod 9.1.0 on it via: [cyanogenmod's site, model galaxys2 cm9.1.0] (I can't post links yet, so I had to remove all of them).
I was using it mainly for development for a while, so I never tried to activate it on a network using a sim card, but recently I tried to do that with StraightTalk (using an AT&T sim). Nothing happened. I rebooted my phone multiple times, took the battery out, reseated the sim card multiple times, etc. Nothing is any different than before I put the sim card in (except the messages about "No sim card installed" have gone away). And in the settings, it shows that it can read the phone number from the sim. I actually talked to their support for a while and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I tried the sim in 2 other phones and it works fine on those.
I thought maybe the problem was cyanogenmod 9, so I tried installing cyanogenmod 10 nightlies made specifically for this model from: [cyanogen's site, model i9100 cm 10 nightlies] . Same thing with that. No network connection, emergency call only, etc. I've gone through the settings, trying to change things throughout. I've tried to force-connect to AT&T's network via the Mobile network settings -> Network operators menu, but it just says it can't connect to that network. When I tried to connect to TMobile's network, it said this sim card did not allow a connection to that network.
I wanted to double check to make sure the sim was actually unlocked, but none of the magic codes ( [cduu wordpress galaxy s2 secret codes] ) work except to display the IMEI. I've checked a couple online databases to make sure my IMEI is not blacklisted, and both said it was not blacklisted.
Getting pretty much nowhere, I wanted to return it to stock, but when I read up on it, I could not figure out what to do in order to do that. I'm not very experienced with the GS II; my personal phone is the galaxy nexus. After reading up on it, there's about 100 different versions of "stock" for this phone, depending upon what country/language. I don't know where this phone is from, but the only booklet it came with was in French.
I did find the sammobile released firmware versions for jelly bean and ice cream sandwich (I9100XXLSJ_I9100OXXLS1_OXX.zip and I9100XXLPH.zip) from [sammobile's site] . I don't even know if these are technically stock though. The only one I tried to flash was the ice cream sandwich one; the jelly bean one is still downloading. When I tried to flash the ice cream sandwich one using Odin3 v1.85, it just failed. Didn't harm any of the software that was on there, so I'm guessing it found that it wasn't the right version for my hardware?
So after all this work, I'm coming up empty.
Is there anything else I can do to try to troubleshoot why I have no cell network connection at all?
Should I try to flash back to stock and if so, can anyone tell me what english-language version of firmware/software I have to flash/install to my phone to get it back to stock?
Can I provide any more information to help?
Thanks for the time.
Since you have verified that the sim card is working properly.
Then the issue is with the phone, did you check with the provider if the imei of the phone is valid or not. It maybe a blocked device because it was reported lost or stolen previously.

I only checked in a couple online databases and they both said it was not blacklisted. I found the IMEI issuer at imei-number .com though, and it says it was issued by BABT (British Approvals Board of Telecommunications). Is that who I would contact? I don't know how I would contact them and get a response. Other than that I don't know what carrier the phone was used under before.
If it is not blacklisted
It maybe a hardware issue in that one pins for the sim card is not making contact properly. You may need to take the phone apart to see if there is an issue with sim connection.
Would it be able to read its phone number from the sim if a pin wasn't making connection?
Under About Phone -> Status, Network is Unknown, Signal strength is -111 dBm 1 asu, Mobile network type is HSDPA:9, and the phone number is listed correctly.
Oh, one thing I didn't mention is that the device ID from "adb devices" shows up as 0123456789ABCDEF.
And I just noticed in the About Phone -> Status menu, the Serial number is "unknown." Is there something in my ROM or something that is blocking or has erased the serial number or device ID?
Any ideas?
I'm probably going to have to buy a new phone for development today, so if anyone had something to try before then, it'd be really appreciated.

Mobile network not available

Hi folks,
This is my first post so if I've done anything wrong please let me know. I think I'm experiencing quite a unique issue.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Maguro) phone on O2-UK.
I'll try and summarise my issue
Currently I cannot make calls or send messages but can use 3g on the device.
When I put my girlfriends EE sim into the phone I can make calls and send texts
When I went to France with my O2 sim I could make calls and send texts
When I put my O2 sim into another device I can make calls and send texts
Whenever I try to make a call it states 'mobile network is unavailable' and when I try to connect to O2-UK in settings it states 'cannot connect at this time. please try again later'. The phone states emergency calls only but on the status bar it looks like it has a network connection and 3g can be used.
I've tried phoning O2 to setup the APN settings
It all started when I upgraded to CM12.1 from CM11. Although I have tried downgrading to the previous version and I am still having the same issue. I've tried wiping everything on the phone numerous times.
Is there anything else I can try, something I can wipe or a setting I can change?
Any help would be much appreciated!
If I can't sort it I'll grudgingly have to buy a new phone which is annoying because it only seems to have an issue with O2 in the UK
I had this when I upgraded from cm11 to cm13, all I did was turn on airplane mode for 10 seconds and switch it back on.
I wish it was that easy for me!
It seems that my phone has been blocked on my network (O2) since updating. Is there any way that an IMEI number can be involuntary changed during a root and installation of ROMs/radios?
I know this may be a very stupid question but my provider seems to think the IMEI number is strange, even though I purchased the phone from them in November 2011.
When I phone O2 their system says my IMEI number is different from when I type in *#06#.
Has anyone experienced this?

Hmmm, you stated that the card worked in other phones right? I am pretty sure you stated that other cards also worked so to be honest, this is something you have to phone them up seriously about.
Yes when I put my girlfriends EE sim into the phone it works fone. Also when I was in France my sim card worked fine, I'm guessing because it was using other networks.
It gets even stranger, when I type *#06# into my phone I get an IMEI number. I used an online website to check the status of the IMEI number and it stated that my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (which I've owned from new) is actually an iPhone....

I think we just found the source of our (well technically, your problem) problem. Now, do you have a nandroid backup or something that you are willing to restore to? I will look online for how to restore the imei.
