That update overrides Google drivers. Need to install them again. Same thing happened to me.

HiSuite doesn´t help you. You must work your way into the windows drivers.

Yes. You have to either click on the tray icon on the device that is not installing properly. If you cannot find it there, go to "Devices and Printers" from the control panel (or type devices and printers in start menu) and right-click on the "samsung android usb device" or the unknown device you suspect is not connecting properly and go though the motions of having windows download the driver. If it does not allow windows to download automatically, there should be an option to adjust the settings..
Microsoft article link windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/automatically-get-recommended-drivers-and-updates-for-your-hardware . skip the video if you do not have silverlight and expand the section on getting drivers.
Thanks for the file
Every time I connect to a PC my phone gets this pop up

Is there a way to make it stop doing that every time I plug my phone into my computer?
Well, for starters do you have all those things that it is suggesting (SP3 for XP, Win Media Player 10+, Kies already installed)? Need more info
I'm assuming once you have all those you won't get the pop-up!? Not sure you can actually diable the message.
Olywa
That message shows up because your pc or Mac isn't recognizing the sgs3 as a valid mtp device. You will need to install wmp on windows xp (vista and 7 have native support) to get the message to go away. For macs, I'm not sure but there should be an equalivent
The pop up doesn't come if I have WMP open but I don't really want to open WMP every time I connect my device. I can transfer files and stuff flawlessly but its just a minor annoyance that I have to dismiss that pop up everytime I transfer files or charge from the PC. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Does sound annoying - have you tried switching on USB debugging in the S3 Developers settings? Not sure if that would make a difference?

Didn't work
WMP does not open when u connect the device, so you can upgrade WMP and hope the pop up disappears!

I think I fixed it. It was a USB driver issue. I found drivers from Samsung and not whatever crap Windows installed by default.
Hi, I have problems to get usb tethering to work on windows 7. I was using it on Linux and had no problems at all.

and I tried that, but for some reason, after turning on the usb tethering, it disconnects as it was and the device manager gives me a notification of new hardware named Xperia and can't install them. Tried to install it manually with the drivers from the PC Companion, but they didn't work.
Here is what I get for it on the Device Manager.

Did you try this??
I tried it and got it working on MIUI based on CM.....
I was hoping to use native tethering, because I'm still a little skeptic about these kind of apps. Still thank you, if there isnt any other way, will try yours.

You CAN use native tethering. I ran into the same problem. I just did forced install of RNDIS driver on my Win7 x64 to "Xperia" device.
Ok, I'll be brief.
I'm trying to root my Xperia Sola with Binary's method and following the videotutorial I have to make sure if my phone gets recognized by the cmd "adb devices" program.
The result is a blank area, there's no device.
There's a hardware that Windows ask me to install driver called Android, so I installed one of them and no changes...
Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Was the computer that this wasn't working on running a pirated version of Windows?
I won't tell on you or anything haha, my computer is running a non-legit version of Windows and I can't get it going at all...
I think it's because of this:

I was using a Windows XP, switched to Windows 7 and was fine, installed all my drivers.
Google the drivers that your phone use, install them and then plug the phone again, it may work.
By the way, it doesn't matter the kind of Windows, if install the drivers it's ok.

It's the drivers that's giving you such a hard time. Use the following link. Go to the "Getting Prepared" section and install all the necessary files including the drivers. Follow the installation procedure to safely flash the stock rom back using odin. Here is the link,
