Hi P9000 Users,
i still suffer from "SD card unexpectedly removed" / bad removal issue from time to time. As my research already gave ma a general answer: its a common Android issue, happening for most Samsung devices aswell (even for S7 Edge!).

so not to blame Elephone for this.. but little disappointed about Android (Google) politics that tries to ride roughshod over all SD-card users, restricting SD usage more and more and does not take care about major issues with the drivers/compatibility even (in my opinion) in worst case heavily stressing SD card until failure.
Story:
So with my P9000 i bought a brand new SanDisk Class 10 128 GB MicroSD that gave me the error nearly daily, after couple of weeks SD card suddenly completely died and was not able to be connected to any other device (also no PC recognized it anymore), So i went to store and got a replacement SD Card, this one i used some days and same error came up. After some more days data got corrupted and DCIM folder was completely empty :/ all pictures lost. Good news was that images could be restored from LOST.DIR folder (filename and type had to be restored). After that i decided to return the SanDisk 128 GB SD Card, fortunately store accepted this and also confirmed many Samsung users having same issues :/
Now i switched back to a 64 GB Quomox MicroSD card that i used for 2 years without any problems in a THL and S4 mini phone... and surprise error still pops up.. not that often but it seems to be related on SD card usage, if lots of data is copied to the card (from internal storage), or many photos are taken then after few minutes issue occurs. So i worry if this will cause failure of SD card / data loss also
Anyone has same experience? What brand of SD-Card you have best results? Maybe hardware is also a factor (compared to stable slot of THL, the tray is nothing i really trust in :/).. but seems not to be a general mechanical thing, because shaking phone is not forcing the error. I am on Stock ROM 15.07 (rooted), i had same issue also in CM and Eragon ROMs.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts...
Best regards
A.
My external SD card has never worked at all, not visible to android. Can't find anyone else with this issue but I have read that some people have problems with the card not being held steady. Somebody posted about fixing their problem with a piece of tape, not something I would try in case I had to return the phone.

Hi guys,
After updating to 2003SE using easy bootloader/himaupdate.exe method my SD locks the unit after insertion or from boot. Was ok before (transcend 256Mb card) worked for last year+ till tonight.
Before I tried that method I bootloader/console dumped old rom image to the card, but ive formatted it now a few times with FAT and FAT32, no luck, still locks unit now.
Any ideas anyone?? Thanks.
Also, accessing start menu now causes a hardware style interlace looking flicker down the bottom 1/4-1/2 of the screen. Anyone???
Congrats and thanks to everyone involved with the 2003SE update, ... now if only this SD card works...
Cheers
WARNING !!!! I have tried a new 1Gb ATP SD Card and a new Kingston 512Mb SD Card and both brand new cards also lock the unit.
It would appear the 2003SE flash is incompatible with some revision hardwares and causes the SD slot to cease working correctly.
Also, the update causes the blacklight to sometimes flicker very fast, likely damaging the life of the backlight.
Be warned...
No problem
No problem .
Get the Pocket Mechanic http://www.antontomov.com

Hi,
Thankyou for the advice, however when inserting the sd card it locks the unit down hard, even with pocket mechanic ready to format, or running from boot quickly before it locks (once detects sd).
Seems the flash really killed the SD slot on my h/ware since no other reports it must be revision related at this point, bootloader can still read/detect updates on SD so its an update issue I think
The biggest problem
 The biggest problem I had with 2003SE is :
Poping up mesaage with "Need more memory" for Contacts .
I had to do the Hard Reset for a couple times .
Now I am OK .
Hi Guys,
I've just got a new 16GB microSDHC card. I've formatted it in the phone through android and through recovery, I've formatted it with GParted under Ubuntu and I've formatted it under Windows 7 (Quick format).
Despite all this I'm getting an I/O error from ACast whenever I try to download a podcast and the same from Google Listen.
Also when I go to look at the contents of the card in the file manager sometimes it says the card contains the correct files and folders and sometimes it says the card is empty or only has two or so folders.
What's going on? Have I got a dud card?
I'm running Cyanogen Mod 7.0 Stable.
(I'm going to try a long format under Windows 7 now while I'm at work, but I'll check the thread again when I'm home (about 9.30pm GMT)
Cheers

OK a full format under windows 7 hasn't helped. Unless anyone has a suggestion I'm going to return the card for a replacement.
EDIT: Just stuck my original 2gb SD card back in and it's working perfectly so I'm gonna email for a replacement tomorrow. I must say I'm impressed that android picked up the error rather than just spazzing out!

when does the problem start? probably it damaged when you create goldcard...?...?
No. My Hero's been rooted since the 2.1 update to too long to come out. I never needed the GoldCard. I've returned the card and I'm just waiting for a replacement now.
Having the exact problem except it's too late to return my card so I need to find a way to fix it. Got a 32gb class 6 right before I traveled. When I put files/folders onto my new sd card from my old one, most (if not all) the folders end up being empty and the most files are missing from the root when I reinsert the sd to my phone or computer. Have no clue what the problem is. I attemped an A2SD as soon as I opened the box so could that've messed it up somehow? Thanks.
I was wondering about the formatting of the card as well. First thing I did ootb was format the card using recovery. I'm thinking that might have been my big mistake. Once the new card gets here I'll try it without formatting and simply using the built in apps2sd which doesn't require a ext partition.

I'm running VR13 so i had to use old skool version of A2SD. But really, does ANYONE know what in the funk is wrong with my sd
Buggeration!
The replacement 16GB card is having the same issue. Found a forum thread here which suggests getting Windows to "check and repair" the disk. Gonna try that now, give me a minute to reboot to my windows partition and run the disk check and I'll report back.
[edit] OK that didn't help
Here's the result of the disk check. It says it found and fixed some errors:

But upon trying to download a podcast the download errors out with "I/O Error".
I've emailed the merchant who supplied me with the cards (mymemory.co.uk) they are a really good company and I've used them for years so I'm certain its nothing dogdey going on. Could just be a faulty batch. I'll let you know what they suggest.
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) with CynogenMod 9-20120804-NIGHTLY-i9300 installed. I am using the standard CM9 kernel etc as well.
My issue is that I have a 64GB Sandisk external SD card that I have formatted to Fat32 so I can mount it and use it with CM9. It mounts fine first up but then starts un-mounting then goes through and prepares itself and mounts again. It does this off and on at random times. Is there anyway I can check whether this is a software or hardware issue? It is extremely frustrating, can't listen to music or anything off the SD card as it keeps unmounting etc.

jus a suggestion.... if you can try the sd card in another phone or try another memory card in your phone... that way you'll know if its the software or hardware
Hey, no I don't have another SD card to try. I may be able to try my SD card in an old Nokia I have though...
I really wish it would work, want to be able to put my 20GB of music on it!

I had a similar problem with cm-9-20120728-NIGHTLY-i9300
I inserted a brand new sandisk 64GB sdxc and it reported 'damaged sd card'
when i tried to format it from the phone it got stuck at 'unmounting device'
The solution for me was putting it into my brother's galaxy s2- format took 15seconds and i could use the card normally on my phone.
Well I formatted the 64GB SD Card in my old Nokia without an issue. After putting it back in the phone I had the same issues again.
I then tried a old 8GB SD Card I had around. That also was un-mounting on and off.
It seems like the problem maybe the actual SD card slot itself. See a picture below. It seems to be worse once I put the battery cover on the phone. If I old the card hard in it doesn't seem to un-mount like it has been doing. Not to sure what to do from here.... Maybe flash stock firmware and check SD card operation. If I have the same issues then maybe send away under warranty.

Hi, I recently had a message on my phone that my 32 GB Lexar Micro SD Card was damaged. Basically the phone could no longer read the micro SD Card. I took it out and put it in my PC card reader. It wouldn't read in the card reader, so I formatted the card using the command prompt. The SD Card was wiped clean and working again. So I put the card back into the GS3 and formatted it again with the phone for good measure. All has been fine, although a few of my MP3s had troubles reading (using stock audio player, and never had trouble before) and then just got deleted from the micro SD Card. Later I noticed these two oddly named folders in my files. One is called uATA and the other is called uPPS. But the u is not a usually looking u. You can see what I mean from the screen shot below. The two folders are at the bottom of the list. I couldn't delete these folders with my phone, but was able to delete them from my PC card reader. They have come back again. Can anyone tell me if this means my card is damaged or maybe something else. I know something is wrong for sure. Files just don't get deleted the way a few of mine have.

If I was to take a wild guess it would be something from an app you've installed or restored.
IMHO things don't write files magically, so must be an app or malware.

It is an app that probably deals with torrent data or sort of downloading **it
After nine months of working perfectly, my Verizon G3 has developed constant problems with corrupted and unusable SD cards.
What typically happens is that the card works fine for a few hours to a day, then it starts throwing an error message saying the card is corrupt and needs to be reformatted. I've tried everything I can think of and all the advice I've seen on various forums, including removing and reinserting the card, reformatting it and even replacing it with a brand new one. Sometimes it doesn't even recognize that the card is in there if I've pressed it in all the way; if I insert it four-fifths of the way, the card will work for a while before I get the "corrupted" message.
My current card, a 64GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SDXC, worked for a day yesterday but stopped functioning today.
Is it possible this is a hardware problem rather than a software issue? I have tried updating the firmware too (I'm running a nightly of Cyanogenmod 13).
Anyway, I welcome any suggestions.
Update. I installed SD Card Monitor and am seeing a bunch of unmountings, ejections and "bad removal" errors. What would cause this?

Likely hardware issue. There have been others who've had similar issues.
The whole SIM and Micro SD card tray combo in the VS985 is unreliable. After just one month shy of two years, my wife's suddenly stopped reading any SIM card, including the one that worked perfectly in my VS985 and the one in my VK810 LG Pad 8.3 and another she had from a 4G dongle she is to use.
LG wanted $75 to repair it. We bought different phones, I had been wanting to move on soon anyway.
Didn't have any trouble on 48A or 49A before replacing my phone.
Time to get a new phone. The SD Card slot has gone bad. I had the exact same issues start back in November and eventually, the phone died completely. It started with it unmounting the card, then stating it was corrupted and finally refused to keep a card mounted. I flashed back to 10b and other versions, as well as tried in safe mode, but eventually, it wouldn't work anywhere.
Oh, and when I would put the so-called "corrupted" card into another device or my PC, I would have to reformat it, but then I did a check on my PC and the device checked out fine. No bad blocks, etc. And the SD card would not fail in other devices, so that definitely pointed to a hardware failure in my G3. And now with the black-screen-of-death, it's a definite for me that it died. :crying: :crying: :crying:
