I'm not sure why you quoted me but if someone flashes a soap test that is not for their phone then they need not cry when it bricks and yes it could fail on the official update.
I can't imagine why anyone would be dumb enough to flash a soak that someone posts when they will eventually get it without bugs when it's released.

I know what I am doing. I have had many phones and have flashed many different ROMs onto them. Also, it says this on the website linked in the video: "Also, this is only for model no. XT1643, Moto G4 Plus. Update: It is said to be working on all these model nos. XT1643, XT1640, XT1642, XT1622 and XT1626." The only way people would know if it works on those models is if they tried flashing it. It never said that the xt1625 was supported, but it also never said anything about not being supported.
Also to the person who doesn't understand how we could be so "dumb" to flash this, we want a taste of Nougat right now. It isn't too hard to flash back to Marshmallow when the official update comes out. Sure there are bugs in the soak test, but that is to be expected.

Ok, we all know how good you are but for someone with a locked bootloader it's not that easy to fix a soak test problem. Since I've personally officially soak tested previous models of the G phones multiple times I know that a soak test can actually stop an official OTA update. I've even had them push a soak to me that had another carriers bloat in it.

True. I keep forgetting that you aren't able to unlock the Amazon version. I personally have the unlocked version from Motorola.

I have to agree with you the youtuber who made the 7.0 installation video above has also made a downgrade back to marshmallow 6.0 tutorial and it downgraded just fine ? i also noticed rite after he downgraded he got a ota update so that obviously means when the official 7.0 starts to roll out anyone who did do a downgrade of the soak test will get the ota update so all this crap about we cant get the official update ota if we flash this soak test is just plain rubbish
Is there something Im missing? I have the amazon version xt1625 and I have an unlocked boot loader.

You used to be able to unlock it, but Amazon put a stop to that. You just happened to get it unlocked before Amazon stopped it.
will it work on XT1624 ?
So I may give this a shot. I have been rooting and flashing all my phones until the G4 which was perfect for e out of the box. So I wonder if there is any way to revert back to Marshmallow without unlocking the bootloader. Otherwise I might skip it and wait for the official update. Thanks in advance.

If so that is why it works.

Hi there! So, recently I upgraded to Cyanogenmod 14 from 13 and I also upgraded from Android M to N. I'm not happy with the new update, and I'd like to downgrade back to M and to CM 13. Does anyone know how to do this without bricking the phone? I'd like to not end up with a paperweight. Thank you! Also, I have an LG G4

Just wondering what roms have worked successfully on the RS988, as well as Kernels. I've not seen any evidence of any compatibility, but I'm not sure I want to risk it without confirming that first. Thanks for any and all replies.

Yeah currently there ate no ROMs or kennels for any other devices except h830 (t mobile) and h850 (unlocked European version). This is due to the fact that those were the only devices that could be boot loader unlocked. Now if this new method is working for you guys on other devices and you have working twrp for your devices that actually flash files then the devs building ROMs for the two currently supported should be able to include the other devices but do NOT flash any roms for any other device to yours. Kindly ask the devs (like @King_lilrowrow or @gwolfu) if they could support your devices. I don't currently fully know if this is possible as I'm not sure you guys can flash files via twrp successfully yet, you would have to ask a dev. If unable to flash files you may need twrp updated for each device (kernel specific stuff), but again not sure as I'm not a developer. Hopefully this heels and hopefully you guys get a chance to enjoy custom ROMs like I have. I know I couldn't deal without, I'm a flashaholic. I actually returned my RS988 for a h830.

If other G5's have BL unlocked and a working build of TWRP then it will be easy for me to add support to my CM14.1 (LineageOS) builds.
The TWRP version targeting 20a/b isn't 100% needed but avoids issues with TZ assertion.
The only device I'm aware of thats close to an unlock method (via someone I know) is the H840 (LG G5 SE)
When any other G5 model is supported you'll see it on our GitHub site: https://www.github.com/ConquestTeam/

Yeah from what I read in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/guide-adb-root-rw-dm-verity-off-sprint-t3523499 it appears that this method allowed them to flash twrp, although not sure if it's working 100% (I know they're having issues flashing SuperSU). Not sure if it's also unlocking the boot loader or not or of it simply bypasses the boot loader unlocking issues like old exploits on g2, g3 and g4. But as I said before I'm on h830 so not sure about this method and what exactly it's doing. But it appears to replace recovery with twrp. Also it appears to only be disabling DM verity and mounting system as rw via adb, not sure if it's allowing you to do this via twrp or not. Again if not, I'm assuming that you may need a new twrp built based on the modified kernel and boot image this method flashes. If that's they case maybe someone can goto twrp thread and ask support to be added specifically for these other versions, don't know.

I got the Korean G6 Oreo working on the European G6, it's a kernel panic mess though, thats why I'm not gonna release it(WiFi doesn't even work, and if you reboot you're gonna land in a endless bootloop). EvilHowl and J0sh1x are currently fixing everything, gonna release when everything's done.
[UPDATE] Got almost everything working: Fingerprint and WiFi(Hotspot) aren't working :/

I'm sure this is probably out of the realm of possibility, but based on this comment it got me wondering, would I be able to take the boot image from Lineage 8.1 for us997 and use it with the h870 ResRemix Rom and it then work for my phone, being as they're both aosp based for the G6? Long shot I know but I figured I'd ask. Sorry, I know you're probably busy, not to mention it's not at allrelated to the topic of ur thread...
Here is what someone at US Cellular told me over chat today... Who knows if they know anything or not.
"At this time Android has not released the Oreo software for the LG G6. Once it becomes available it will be on our website"
Still waiting for it. ?
I tweeted at them a few weeks ago and got an answer that they didn't have any information about an update.
https://twitter.com/johnWayne007/status/994088970312192000
On a separate side note, are you on 16b or 16c?
You could wait for the us997 version for Oreo when they release it and flash it I have flashed the nougat versions and it works great!
I have been on 16c for some while now. Battery life sucks with this phone. Some days while at work and connections are weak/switching all the time I get maybe 1.5 hours SOT. Other wise I manage 3 hours average.

?? Just got done chatting with their support. They told me the same thing ?.
US Cellular is terrible when it comes to updating or upgrading Android software. I once waited a whole year, year and a half to get an update to the next Android version on a device ?. They really need to pick up the ball when handling software updates ?.
I just got Oreo OTA pushed to my US997U today. Running smoothly so far.
Still haven't gotten the update on my US Cellular G6. Also there still isn't a kdz either.
?? Here is what LG sent me when I got in contact with them through email after previously chatting with multiple US Cellular support staff about the Android Oreo update for the LG G6.
