Can't shutdown, restart, restart into recovery etc. - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Can't restart my LG G5 anymore. Or shut down. Have to pull the battery.
Tried booting into recovery etc. The blue led just keeps flashing when I try to shut it off or restart.
Not sure when this started but I it could have been when I tried to choose something in some app(not sure which, maybe hravity box) like Fastboot(so it should boot up faster). Anyway, want to boot into TWRP to clean cache(don't know if it will help)
Never got it to work using Power+volume down to boot into revovery.
Can't boot into safemode or anything. Is it possible to boot into safemode using just buttons from poweroffmode?
Any tips?
Didn't try using adb command, I'm at work so can't try it right now.
Maybe factory reset?
I'm rooted and running Fluence HD patch and v10e. H850 international.
Someone help?

There are two ways ti recover a modded lg device:
1) Accessing to the custom recovery through combination, you can find it in autoprime's all in one thread, if the phone boots normally then you did something wrong and yours Have to Try again, the G5 should at Last arrive at the reset menu.
2) Accessing to the download mode, and flash the stock firmware with lgup, here is the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/lgup-international-domestic-g5s-t3407439
Good luck

If u have Xposed installer then reboot to recovery using that, it install quick reboot app from play store and give it root access... Let me know how that goes
Edit...
Just re-read... Are u saying u can't boot into recovery using the above mentioned process in your OP?

And your physical combination keys are absolutely not working? So what does your phone do when it won't shutdown? Is it still responding to user input?
Is your phone branded through a carrier? May I ask about your install process for 10e and Fluence v24?a log could be very helpful... I'm no good reading them but I could inquire with smarter people than myself or this could also force me to learn how to read them lol...
Use Google to learn how to grab a log of a specific process
If u could do that I would be very interested to see what is going on... But i understand wanting a fix ASAP; I suggest reinstalling firmware, recovery, and root using LG-UP then booting and backing up b4 using Fluence HD24 again.
But please grab a log... This is a unique problem

Turns out I was doit the buttoncombination wrong. So I can get into twrp. Wipe cache but it didn't help.
Anymore tips?
When I try to restart or shutdown the phone it stops at black screen and blue LED flashing. Tried waiting like 3min but the blue led still flash, it doesn't shutdown.
Can I just reflash twrp or maybe fluence hd24 and keep all my apps. Tired off reinstalling everything. Been alot off that trying to fix the battery drain. ?

Genisys was good but stock and HD24 gives me insanely good battery life...

Lucky you. It's driving me insane trying to figure out this.
Thinking about changing phone but it seems not to be a LG problem, more an android problem. Just sick how some people get great batterylife and some not. Using greenify amplify and trying to get powernap to work. Gsam and BBS says its dozing and deepsleep etc. Still I get like 3% drain/hour.

[Q] How to install [ROM]KaosFroyo V30 on droid eris?

Hi Guys am quite new at this however i've been doing some research on how to install [ROM]KaosFroyo V30 on my Eris but i have not found any instructions or guide and so i was wondering if anyone here could help? by the way i am running the android 2.1 version released by Verizon an HTC and hopefully this won't be a problem.
Google is your friend, also the Eris root app might make things easier.
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
first question is are you rooted?
i think the phone's rooted now!
well i used the eris root app and when it asked me to i used the KaosFroyo V30 zip and it seemed to install ok, then i boot up the device and after an initial boot screen i get a screen saying android in blue and like a white light inside i don't know if that makes any sense but that's where the phone stays. i guess i am rooted now but then phone won't fully boot up

ok so this is what i did i downloaded eris root app i ran the app rebooted the phone as instructed by the app turned it off again then held down volume down and pressed power. then i chose recovery and from there instead of using the default zip file i used the "kaos v30" zip file everything installed well then i just rebooted the device. since then the phone doesn't boot completely it just says android and it just stays there.

good luck and remember to always do a nand backup before flashing anything...saves more lives than seatbelts
The thing that you did different was wiping caches before flashing. That's why it works now.
BTW, NAND backups are important, but the one you made this time was worthless.
A NAND backup makes a copy of your system. Unfortunately your system wasn't functional when you created it.
Use this as a lesson. Always do a NAND before you change anything. That way you can restore to a working system.

Hi guys I was messing around on the HTC DROID ERIS and I may have damage my phone. I change the wrong NV items. 435,436,1192,1194 and now phone keeps turning on and off. it only gets to the skate boarding green dudes. I try adding a custom rom but i dont think i am rooted. I try doing the system wipe but as soon as it reboots to enter that mode it reboots and reboots again same system. I can only update with the PB00IMG.zip but does not changes anything. I can only keep it stable on the hboot usb which I dont know what else to do with that. anyone has any idea on how to correct this issue...

It may be helpful to someone else, if you were to explain how you fixed it.
Yes, it would indeed be quite helpful if you could elaborate... because this just happened to me and I'm stumped...
I followed the same exact procedure I've used other times without error...
Except that now, after LGNPST, then root, then freegee... go to restart the phone and it hangs... won't boot up. What gives?
I repeated the process and did a factory reset after LGNPST back to stock, since I noticed (oddly enough) that all my apps were still there after LGNPST (full, to 100%)...
Still no luck...
EDIT-- Can't for the life of me figure this effing thing out. LGNPSTed I don't know how many times... with factory reset, without... I've tried fully relocking and unrooting the device... both through the FreeGee app *and* manually through adb... no error mssgs, double-checked... everything followed to the letter. There's only one constant each time: Once I've re-unlocked the bootloader (either with the app or through adb)... the phone is basically softbricked... once I turn the power off, it is A) not possible to boot into the stock rom, B) not possible to access fastboot menu, and C) not possible to boot into recovery. The only thing it *is* possible to do is get into download mode... and from there I'd just have to LGNPST again, but what's the point, because once I've done that and tried to unlock again, I already know what's coming. Never been this frustrated with a phone before, any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT 2-- No luck. LGNPSTed to stock once more, and factory reset, because yet again, all my apps were still intact... idk. Anyways, decided to do some hunting around with adb, and "adb reboot recovery" produced an error screen... the android lying on his back with case open... am I to assume this means there is a problem with my recovery partition that could be causing my difficulties... or would one expect to see this screen when trying to access recovery on the stock phone?

Honestly I don't know how it was resolved. I lgpnsted and rooted and unlocked the bootloader like 5 times.I got into recovery a few times but then got the same problem two more times. The last time I got into recovery I managed to flash a custom kernel and everything was fine from then on. I just don't understand how this problem is caused or even how it is truly fixed.

I had access to stock and I could root it. One thing that bothers me is that when I flash with lgpnst my data isn't erased and I feel like there may be a problem there of whether lgpnst is even taking our phones back to stock completely

It's okay, I posted in XsMagical's thread, I'm hoping he can shed some light.

There have been a small number of phones that will not unlock with standard freegee. They can be unlocked but it is riskier, you would need to talk to Shelnutt in irc.

Our phones successfully unlocked with freegee originally but some error caused us to lose access to the bootloader and corrupt whatever ROM we were on and then cause errors where we could use free gee but run into problems. In my situation the problem was resolved somehow and free gee worked fine afterwards

Just for the sake of documentation, I made a little log of my most recent attempt at getting back into the fastboot menu... obviously it's convoluted, but hey... sometimes experimentation gets results. This time, however, it did not... still no luck.
LGNPST back to stock
factory reset from settings->backups
run root exploit
restore original backups from first time freegeeing via adb using carrett's method
reboot
full unroot from SU app
factory reset
LGNPST to stock
re-run root exploit
reboot
re-unlock with freegee script (adb)
disconnect cable
reboot
(right here is the failure. after running "power off and reboot" from the power button menu, phone shuts off. it tries to start up, then i get a quick flash of the LG logo, straight to a backlit black screen that hangs indefinitely. only thing possible from here is to enter download mode.)

Just for documentation and in case I can help solving this, I am having the same problem, I explain my case with more detail on the FreeGree Thread, but pretty much I am on the same ship as you, I have tried after LGNPST, with and without factory reset, with the Google Play application and with the desktop application, but same result, black screen after restart.
I have a brand new phone, picked it less than a week ago, could LG have changed something? bootloader/recovery partition sizes? something?
I am still within the 14 days period and as much as I like the phone, if I can't bootloader unlock, means I will be stuck on stock ROM, and that is something I don't want... might as well go and change it for a different phone, or sell it and get a nexus 4...
I get same.thing. black screen after freegee. Its two days old. So now what!?

Will not Wake after screen off/timeout

I just recently purchased my HTC One and immediately went to rooting it. I've managed to unlock it, flash TWRP recovery. Here's where all goes to hell, no matter what ROM I try installing, everytime the screen goes to sleep, it won't wake again. Yes, on DIFFERENT ROMs, this must be something I did wrong. What could've happened? I ALWAYS wipe all data, system, dalvik, cache, etc before flashing new roms. I'm used to doing this with my GNex. :silly:
I've tried using TWRP to flash ROMs, Clockwork Recovery, tried fixing permissions after flashing etc, still the same results. What's strange is that I know the button isn't faulty, after recovering to stock, I can lock/unlock the phone just fine. Also, when in TWRP, I can also lock/unlock the phone in the same fashion.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Else, I'd need some assistance with returning it back to it's un-rooted state without the Bootloader saying it was tampered, if anyone knows how.
Thanks!

Bootloop after attempting to install Xposed Framework

Hey guys I need some help here. After installing, or rather attempting to install Xposed Framework i am stuck in a bootloop and I don't really know how to remedy it, Any Ideas?
Update: I have tried to get into fast boot and the other mode (I can't think of the name off the top of my head) and I'm only getting the led to change color on the side. No screen on or anything. My computer makes the sound that it recognizes it but I can see it in my file manager.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 4
Tell me a little about your setup, do you have a custom recovery instaled? If not, reflashing the stock ROM will restore your system. If so, flash the zip named Xposed-Disabler-CWM.zip from your internal sd.
Also, simply installing the framework isn't going to make any changes you can see, you need the App Settings module installed, activated, and to make some changes. You may also want the Play Store Fixes (patches for multi-dpi) to ensure all apps show as compatible.
I am stock rooted. No custom recovery. I have tried to get into fast boot and download modes but I can only get the led to change to the appropriate color. The screen does not come on at all this way. Only when I power it on normally but all I get is the Sony logo for a 5-10 seconds then the screen shuts off then the Sony logo again and it repeats that indefinitely.

I have the same problem, except my tablet is the 321 LTE model...would love to install xposed but I'm getting really tired of the boot loop issue. Would be nice to change screen density and get back the tablet UI in the latest .244 firmware...I'm currently in the .307 firmware

If you go to my thread in the general section, I believe someone posted a link to the remount fix which worked great with mine.

Hey, I'm new here, but I'm just trying to help. I'm also a victim of faulty Xposed Framework installation. After the first attempt to install the framework, my phone immediately jumped into boot loop. Luckily I came up with an idea how to fix this.
1. I let my phone looping in the boot logo until it ran out of battery (I plugged an unconnected charger to the phone so that the power runs out faster)
2. I charged my phone without turning it on until it reached >75% battery level.
3. I unplugged the phone, let it die for a few minutes before proceeding to the next step.
4. I turn my phone on and immediately go into CWM (I assumed you had CWM in your phone since you've been trying to install this framework)
5. Then I choose "wipe data/factory reset"
And my phone's back to normal again, and I'll never touch this framework ever again. Maybe this'll help you. Cheers.

factory reset? Will it wipe internal data like apps, contacts, etc?
I did the same thing... this is how I fixed it in less than a half hour:
DOWNLOAD FLASHTOOL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
DOWNLOAD proper stock FTF for your device (if not on that page search xda for it)
Install flashtool, install drivers... look for proper pages for tuts
flash your stock ftf file
then re-root device with your prefered method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333566 - The Doomlord method
Will it work on TWRP?

[q] please help - possible brick

Hello everyone, Forgive me if I seem a bit flustered, but I am. I was adding a few fonts with an app from the play store. It would restart after each fine, and there was no issue. On the final one, it restarted, but then got hung up for 10 minutes on the ATT logo. I have restarted it with the power button numerous times now, and it has done nothing different. I have only rooted the phone, I have no custom recovery or anything. I booted into the LG stock recovery, canceled the reset, and it still hung up at the ATT logo.
What might have happened, and how can I fix this? I would rather not hard reset, but if I have to, I have to. Please respond with anything at all that might help me. I'm using my old GSII right now, and the newer sim doesn't fit quite right in it. I can make calls and stuff, but i want to get back on the OG as fast as possible. PLEASE respond with anything helpful. Thanks.
I am running stock Jellybean (The initial jellybean we got, I think it was 4.1.1), rooted. No custom roms, no custom recovery.
UPDATE: I did a factory reset (by holding power and volume down). It is still doing the same thing. It gets to the ATT logo and plays the music "Dee dee dee dee 'click'", then stops. Nothing more happens. At all. I've let it sit for a while and nothing is happening. So now the question is, how can I save it with that in mind?

Sound like you need to use LGNPST or use a teenybin then flash a custom ROM. Factory reseting ( I think) only clears out the /data partition which is where all user and app data is saved. If something in the /system partition is not allowing it to boot, that is why the factory reset didn't work. To fix you have to restore the /system partition back to stock.
To do so, flash a full bin. Which will reset the phone to complete stock (no root, no unlocked bootloader).
Or you can flash a teenybin. Which is smaller and safer. Flashing a teenybin unlocks the bootloader and puts a custom recovery. From there you can just flash a new ROM.

Thanks. Do you know if there's an accurate guide on how to do the teenybin? It's been ages since I've done anything more than root, and I'm not sure what to search for.

The directions to use the Teenybin are in the OP found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230994
The hardest part is getting LGNPST working properly. But that's easy now thanks to the auto install.
Did u fix your phone?
Going to assume teeney bin worked for op. It did for me when I had issues

Apologies all, yes I got it working... Mostly. WiFi quit working completely (refused to connect), phone calls took forever to go through, and other odd issues. I'm running it off an old backup of ICS on my external SD. The issues were too much for me to handle, and I was scared to do anything more, so I've got a Moto x. I'm going to try to correctly fix the OG now, so hopefully by documenting the process I can help someone else.

i was scared to use teenybin like you but 4.4 lured me into trying. Give teenybin a try its not that bad. you just need to install it, download the teenybin, launch the program, boot your phone into download mode and run the program with the dll and bin files selected.

I used the Teenybin. It worked enough so I could install my backup. The OS got wiped completely, so I think the kernel just couldn't handle all the stuff it had to anymore.
