Encountered that problem with Marshmallow based xiaomi.eu rom: -
Here is the solution i found that worked for me!
The solution is to configure Titanium Backup to access the external SD card slightly differently:
Go to Preferences -> Backup Folder Location.
Click on Storage provider at the top (it's not obvious that it's clickable).
Click on DocumentProvider storage. That will take you to a File Manager interface. You may have to click on the 3-dot menu on the top-right to enable the (external) SD card to be shown, then click the menu lines in the top-left and select your SD card, and click the "Select" at the bottom right. (You don't have to select your Titanium Backup folder here, you're just using this to get access to your SD Card.)
Now you should be back in Titanium Backup and you can browse like you used to to get to your preferred backup folder on your external SD Card

Also you may need to enable the "Documents" app for read/write permissions of sdcard.
It gets disable by MIUI Optimization on every boot!

One other thing you will want to do is go to Settings -> Permissions and then at the top right corner where the 3 dots are, disable the install from USB option or it will prompt you each time an app tries to get restored using TB.

On MIUI/Xiaomi.eu instead of the 3 dots, there is a settings cog.
Install via USB
Should be there. It was off for me.

Here are simple steps!

[Solved] What is the App_Manager directory?

On the internal SD card, I see a directory called "App_Manager". Inside, it has a directory called "App_Backups" and that has two directories called "system_apps" and "user_apps".
Is this safe to delete? It looks like backups of all my applications.
Thanks!

I believe this folder is created with ROM Toolbox. I safely removed mine. I noticed it only added the apps if I modified them in anyway, i.e deleting one.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out what was creating this directory and updating.
That cleared out over 250mb of files for me!

You can also delete Backups within Rom-toolbox :
Rom Toolbox-> (Tools-Tab) -> App manager
-> Menu-button -> Batch-> (Delete Backups-Tab) -> Delete all backups
Prevent Rom Toolbox from automatically creating Backups for new app-installments :
Rom Toolbox-> (Tools-Tab) -> App manager
-> Menu-button -> Settings -> Uncheck Automatic Backup

icons disappearing

hey there, every time i reboot my phone, half my homepage icons disappear. They are still in the main app windows and i can copy them back to the home page until next reboot.
the phone is a roots stock S2. i think it started after i ran a batch "move to sd" on all apps in titanium backup pro - i suspect this maybe the cause but what's the fix?
thanks

Move them back to internal storage.
Reboot and clear cache and advanced/dalvik in CWM Recovery.
Done

sounds easy (ish) except i don't know which ones to move back! Do you know _why_ it is happening?

If you use Titanium backup again & use the batch operation to move back (all!) your user apps to internal memory, this should resolve your missing icons problem!
As post above, but you can choose to select which app to move.
Any widget or shortcut etc stored on your sdcard will not run on boot as it's a different partition and some apps are not written to do so.
So just select (check/uncheck) those to move back (or all of them) and then recreate the shortcut after.
1. Batch / move user apps to internal memory / select apps / run
2. Maybe reboot and wipe cache and Dalvik in recovery.
3. Setup shortcuts etc

Help... TiBu/Google Play problems...

So I messed up... Here is a quick timeline of what I did:
1. I backed up my apps in Titanium Backup.
2. Wiped my device in CWM
3. Flashed CM9
4. Flashed Gapps
5. Setup device
6. Downloaded Titanium Backup
7. Went to restore and... nothing comes up in Titanium.
8. Freaked out!
My back up is gone! Where did it go? I know it's probably lost forever, so here is my next question. Can I install ALL my apps I ever downloaded in one shot? I don't want to go through everything in Google Play. I did this by accident with my tablet, but can't remember how.
Thanks!!!!
It's not lost, go read the cm9 thread there have been a lot of post about how to make it show up again.

Install RootExplorer and try moving the TiBu DIR on your SD card to the internal storage area and see if that works.

Titanium backups gone after ROM install

Hello,
I recently got bored with my old ROM on my GIII so I installed a couple new ones today. On the final one I tried I no longer have a single Titanium Backup file on my SD card. All restore items show 0. I know these all worked and existed because I restored them earlier on in the day and all was well. I then installed my current ROM and nada.
My question isn't about getting these files back as its apparent they are gone (super sad), I double checked the sd card in windows and the only thing is all my pictures/videos and a single file for TB for the license. My question is is, will this occur in the future again? Do people have flaky luck with Titanium Backup? Each of the rom installs were done the same way, boot into recovery, delete data/cache, install from SD etc. I did it the same way both times. I just dont want to get burned again because whats the point of even backing stuff up right?
Has anyone had luck with the Cloud feature on Titanium Backup, does this work??
Thanks.
Did you flash an aosp/cm Rom? If so they are probably hidden down in sd/0...... if you have Phil's recovery fire up the aroma file manager and move then to root of sd card (move the whole folder)
---------- Post added at 03:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 AM ----------
Edit that.....normal file manager will do, I thought you were stuck in recovery/no access to nandroid, just realised it's titanium backup your after....same might apply if you were on 4.2.x or cm/aosp

Same thing happened to me.
Where did the backup go?!?!? Was it backed up on the phone and not on the SD card? That would be dumb!
The TitaniumBackup folder on the SD card is EMPTY and the "detect" found no backup files
SUPER SAD, I lost ALL phone numbers!!!

I just pressed DETECT and the WHOLE DEVICE and SDCARD options several more times and I guess it dug out the backups. Thanks for the quick reply 'preciate it!
click thanks to thank him
After a install of new rom TIBU shows all backups in verify, I have restore file from ext sd card but restore missing apps shows zero. Have used tibu a long time and never had this problem.

finding it does nothing. you have to choose it in the preferences
Thanks for responding. When Im in applications and click edit filters it takes me to filters page hitting clear does nothing. Do I have to select anything?
Here are screen shots showing my verified apps and my filter page
that means that all that's backed up is installed

[Discussion] What are you doing now that you can root?

Personally I've deleted a couple unnecesary apps that were wasting space, and intend to make Chrome an option for Dual Window again as soon as I figure out how (it was removed, I believe in 11b, and the flex multi window mod is unable to enable it).
As more things occur to me, I'll do more things. What do you all plan to do?
So far, I've only installed greenify and titanium backup.. I'm honestly trying to figure out what else I want to do (been out of the root scene for about a year and a half between this and my old turbo, which didn't receive root until the time I got my v10)

It's cause you already have backups stored. Double check your SD card files.
So far I have uninstalled bunch of bloat wares. And I was messing with the Verizon hidden menu so now I got 4g LTE on T-Mobile. Not really sure what I did though

It's either the LG Backup folder in your SDCard or the TitaniumBackup folder. Otherwise I would scan your SDCard.

I dunno how you did that with adb so what did u do

I didn't use adb
I used root explorer pulled it to my downloads folder then I connected the phone to my pc and pull it from there
But to see it in root explorer I had to mount read write options

Tried editing to enable dual window with buildprop editor, rebooted into a bootloop. Recovery has the option to enable USB debugging. Using this, is it possible to undo the change in (for example) terminal emulator, rewriting the original line? That way I wouldn't have to factory reset. I already tried wiping the cache (wasn't expecting it to work, but it seemed harmless).
