Hi
I've found out that I can make 4K videos with the original application. No problem there. But I can try any other apk installed from play and cannot make a 4K video, the maximum resolution I can use is something about 3264x1836 but no UHD...
It seems to me like some system problem. To tell the truth I haven't tried other apks to shoot video but was curious with cinema 4k. It used to work OK on my LG G4 but with my new LG V10 no UHD resolution.
Has someone out there a problem like this?
Thanks.
Tibor
Edit: tried later a factory reset but still no UHD with Cinema 4K

I just bought an LG 4K TV this weekend (49UB8500).
It doesn't seem to recognize the 4k Videos I shot with my Xperia Z2.
I'm not sure...haven't done extensive research yet, but LG 4K TV seem to require HEVC codec for 4K video but somehow the 4K videos Z2 shot are using H264 codec instead....
I cannot find a free encoder to convert these files either to test out this theory.
Does nobody else have this problem?

Try handbrake. Link: https://handbrake.fr/
I tried handbrake but it doesnt recognize the video... only converts audio...
will try the other suggestion and report back.
thanks!
Tried both options.....neither seem to convert the 4k videos.
No one else have this problem?
Update: It seems that 32bit PCs are now pretty much obsolete... Cannot re-encode 4k videos. On the other hand, seems my LG TV can read 4k H264 videos from the Z2 (just not via DLNA). Turns out 4K video quality as captured from Z2 is not much better than 1080p from my point of view...
Dears,
I've always been uploading 1080p 60fps videos to YouTube with my old S8.
Well, it doesn't work with S9+, videos are recognized as normal 1080p 30 fps.
Here's the original file.
Here's the same on Youtube.
And here's a working video on Youtube, it shows 1080p60 in fact.
Issue is confirmed uploading from app and web.
I'm on stock G965FXXU1BRF8, rooted with Magisk, /system/lib/liboemcrypto.so deleted to make VOD apps work, as on the old S8.
Any suggestions?
Thanks everybody.
So I was trying Open Camera and testing various frame rates and resolutions but I found out something interesting. I turned on 4K resolution of front camera video and tried it. It somehow worked. I looked at the resolution of the video via Google Photos and it showed me resolution 2160x4096. Is this a bug or it is just FHD video somehow converted into 4k? Thanks.
thats amazing 4k
i have used open camera before, and this is real 4k , it look amazing when i watch on the laptop

I hate when xiaomi doesnt enable it in miui camera.
Hi all.
Did not find this mentioned in a previous post. The G5 records at 3820x2160 and plays back fine. But it cannot play back 4320x2160 videos. That's the standard resolution for 4k VR videos. Is there some way to fix this?
Appreciate the help, thanks.
I have just recently migrated from iOS (iPhone 11 Pro) to Android 10 (Sony Xperia 5 II). I think Android is a much better choice for me as I feel I have more control.
Despite this I am having a minor issue which I need help with. On my iPhone 11 Pro, I was able to watch 4K videos, even with HDR turned on through the Youtube app. The resolution of the iPhone 11 Pro is closer to 1080p than anything else so I understand 4K is downscaled to the resolution of the phone. The problem I have is that with my new Sony Xperia 5 II I cannot seem to be able to enable 3840x2160/4K on any video on Youtube. I have tried watching a 4K video with HDR and without HDR but still suffer the same problem. I am new to android so I don't really know if this is common or its just my phone. The resolution of the Sony phone is also 1080p but I find it quite surprising it won't let me watch videos at 4K considering the iPhone 11 could.
I have tried updating the Youtube app and the firmware of the phone but nothing seems to change. I cannot uninstall Youtube from the phone either.
Is there any way this can be fixed?
The 4K video playback on YouTube is supported on those Android devices only that have a 4K display screen. Your Sony Xperia 5 II doesn't have such one.
But there is a simple workaround you can use to enable 4K video quality option on YouTube , if your phone's Android is rooted: change the resolution of the display to enable 4K video support - you do this by modifying the build.prop[/] file in the /system root directory.
