Hello all
There's no second chance to make a great first impression. for that reason I want share (and compile) some tips that seem to be very effective at retaining users for your apps. Because it is not only to get installs but make them enter the day after they installed your app
Here is my list of tips:
1- Optimize loading screen
2- Interactive tutorial in case you need it
3- Minimize actions, go straight to the point
4- Do not practice adoverdose
Any more tips to contribute to retain your users?
Cheers!

there is a list of things I often take care of (from small to big ones, I think it does not matter) .... but as they are occuring with different frequncy I would like to keep a list of them (make it 100, I do not know many) to:
1. avoid inputting each item each time I need it
2. keep the list of them for review (to look whether sth has not been done recently, so I need to assign some time in 2 days by placing into the calendar/agenda, let's say, to make it happen again)
3. keep track of few things that need higher priority (so I am aware when last time I have done it) and more attention
Am I imagining things or there is a simple way to handle that by in-bulit functionality ??? or else ...

Sounds like you need a heavy duty PIM or Task Manager to me:
Take a look at the following:
TaskPlus v1.33

Taskview Today

Agenda Today

Agenda Fusion (PIM)

I'll add a Project Manager just in case:
cyRisk

a new application for mobile
project managers. cyRisk complements Microsoft Project 2000/2002 by
automating many risk management processes: identification, analysis,
planning, tracking, etc.

thank you very much for your extensive answer, apart from major item I have been looking for ... I am pleased with that project management link - I'd definitely follow that link as well

Hello together,
I`m writing currently my master thesis with the topic "Context Simulator For Mobile Business Application". The goal is, to test how an Android application reacts during changing context conditions: How reacts an application, if the battery is almost empty? How reacts an application, if internet connection breaks down during data transmission? How reacts an application, if a SD-Card is available/not available? ...
I want to simulate all of these factors on the PC and send the data to my android device. Some more examples:
- Simulating sensor data for accelerometer, gyroscope, ...
- GPS
- Camera and microphone (if an application requests a camera image, it should receive a image from my simulator)
- Fake connection for Wi-Fi, HDSPA, EDGE
- Fake time, time zone and date
- Simulate a specific battery level
- Fake calendar entries
------------------ My approaches ------------------
No 1:
Extend an existing custom rom with my features => Some calls should not transfer to OS (example: GPS) but to my simulator on PC. Also send data (example: battery level) to android OS. For example to pretend a low battery level.
No 2:
Write my own sandbox application (I haven`t found information to this topic so far). In this sandbox application, I`m going to start my application to test. So it is possible, to fetch all request from this System under test and I can decide if I want to transfer them to Android OS or to my simulator.
No 3:
Develop my own library, which will be included from my system under test. This library extends some android classes (e.g. Activity, Location Manager, Sensor Manager). My extensions classes will transmit the request to my simulator instead to the OS.
I`m afraid, I only have limited functionalities when I`m using this approach.
No 4:
Take sensor simulator from open intents as basic and extend it as good as possible.
-------- About Me --------
I only have few experience in Android development, but a lot experience in Java development. I know, I should read now a lot about custom roms, ... Unfortunately this thesis should be finish at the end of march.
------- What I want from you -------
Advice. I hope you understand my problem. Which is the best way to realize this project? I would like to have as much functionalities as possible. My prototype doesn`t need to support all context factors, but I should consider all factors in my system design.
I wanted to attached two graphics, but unfortunately I`m not allowed to. These are two possibilities and I`m not sure, which one is better (and also, if they are possible):

Hi all,
We are looking at releasing a new Android device, and have a few ideas for modifying the Android platform for this release, but we are having a hard time fulfilling these ideas. The product will be using OS4.2. I have copied details below for any guidance or advise:
1) Removing the App overview button. We want to remove the button on the home page that is selected to open the App overview page. How can we achieve this?
2) Automatic WiFi selection. It would be beneficial to the product to have the WiFi only on when in certain Apps (all Apps will be preinstalled to the device). If it is any easier, we could also have the WiFi go off automatically in certain devices. Preferably the former, but if one is easier than the other, we don't mind.
There are other modifications we will be undertaking, however these have been achieved. If someone could provide assistance with this, that would be great.

Is there anyone that can assist with this?
Hello
I have recently completed Android (Beginners) course on Udacity and have learned how to create simple stand-alone apps. However, I want to design a simple android app that briefly does the following:
1- Asks the user to login/signup
2- User is shown an Image of the area (like Google Maps)
3- When user taps any part of the image, other users who are nearby are given a notification.
Hence, I am now confused about what to do next? I intend to learn the required topics on my own, but I don't know where to start and what topics to learn.
I have great programming experience, and am familiar with Java too.

SDK for monetization of android installs - monkeysocks.net
Our team can provide an alternative way of monetization instead of advertisement or app subscription!
How does it work:
1. Integrate our sdk into you app.
2. Add screen with selection of application running modes
3. Get profit!
Using your app as Peer, user accepts licence agreement and is able to choose alternative running mode any time he wants.
We do not allow any illegal activity via Peers. So it is completly safe for user to become a Peer of our network.
Our SDK doesn't prevent normal usage of mobile device because it is active only when:
1. Device is not in use
2. Battery charge is above 70%
3. There is an internet connection
As you can see, we offer a good option to get profit for you and opportunity for your app to become more user-friendly!
