Should I get this device? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys. Currently I have a Galaxy S6, and I was planning on buying a new phone. I was thinking on getting an LG V10 or LG G5(I always had LG phones before, like G2, G3). I didn't get G4 because of lack of fingerprint(I love fingerprint) and some other stuff. So to make it short what do you think? Should I get LG V10 or G5? Thanks in advance

from my experience and what you need, if you need speed for games and etc you should get G5...but, if you want a bigger device with amazing design and a second screen (wich for me is a must have) you should get the V10....is all about what you need and not what you want.
for the price i can grab the V10 or G5 today is almost at the same price (around 400-450) if was me i rather choose the G5 - i dont buy the G5 because is too small for my needs, and i came from a G Flex 2 with better SoC than my V10 and i like to have SD810 in V10 because will make it a beast more than already are...
i buy my V10 for 400 euros, the same i pay a year and half ago for my G3, i sold my G3 to buy the G Flex2 and sell my G Flex2 to buy my V10 and is so amazing phone, secons screen is really helpfull. the audio DAC is good enough if you have a good pair of headphones, the camera is full of extras...
- i dont know more to tell about the V10, because i use LG from almost 6 years, all my previous phones are LG and i love it so far i never have nothing to complain, ok, battery in some months will be worst, my V10 have almost 4 months with me and the battery dont last the same they last about a month ago, i try to do my best but isnt enough!
its with you, if you dont really care about size then go with G5 - or wait to buy V20 - if you have money to buy it, yeah, V20 is really a exelent device and you comming from a S6 is a well worth update. if you think go from S6 to V10 dont do it, dont worth it because S6 already is the same performance as V10 have, but i think V10 is lower, only thing V10 have over S6 is extras. if you think S6 to G5 is a yes because G5 is better than S6.

I loved V20 but I don't think I have enough money to buy it. So that's why I was asking between these two. I was also considering Nexus 6P also(mainly because of development, custom roms and latest android update) but I am a little bit worried about it's camera, I don't know how it compares to LG G5 or S7

Thank you alot! Now I'm thinking between G5 and 6P. As I read some reviews 6P camera was okay it just tends to make photos a little bit darker than other smartphones. But on the other side there is alot of android development(like custom roms, plus the price will fall down more when Pixel devices will launch) Anyway I will wait for at least one other month until V20 and Pixel devices come out!

i dont belive in that kind of comparisons because i have tested that phones in first person, more than one time, i know what i see and what i feel with those phones and for your information: yes the sound of 6P is better than S7 and G5, TOGHETER!!! the 6P have dual front facing stereo speakers, G5 is mono and S7 with that kind of water protection is the worst of all!
- people should stop saying sammy is better than every other phone because they arent, like apple because apple are junk, you overpay for cheap aluminium and pay for the brand only, like you buy a original Coke and a cheap imitation of Coke!!! Sammy only was good until S3, since S4 that time sammy only do the same thing and dont say sammy kill every phone in this year with Note7 iris scanner, thats a gimmick feature, A BIG GIMMICK, more than their ridiculous chinese battery!
Sammy isnt sign of quality those days, even Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus are doing better job than sammy!

Im using v10 atm...so I don't have s7...but s7 is most complete phone today...As I said 2 speakers means nothing...what, you put your phone on the table and listen music? pls...
All high end phones are fighting over one thing...camera...everything else is less important ...they are all fast, they won't lag etc.
It's just about camera and phone look...and atm s7 camera is the best...

at the moment nothing, i am pretty sure when V20 is out - they should went for sale tomorrow - they will be the best camera-phone in the market for sure! with the same manual controls like V10 and G5 dual camera setup will kill the S7 (if already not have die yet).
i have V10 too and i like it, not because performance but for overall feeling, design and camera features and for sure someday i will update to V20.

Ok so first off the G5 does not come with hifi dac. It is an add on module that you will have to find and pay for separately if you want that feature.
I have never had any lag playing games with my v10 so I can't speak for that. It's powerful enough for me.
One thing to note is that all LG phones are having some kind of soldering issue with the motherboards. So keep that in mind if you go with v10 or any LG phone. You don't want to buy a dud.
Last thing to keep in mind is that unless you go with TMobile version of v10 there is absolutely no developer support for this phone. Even if you do go TMobile the developer scene is next to nothing. If developer support is important to you keep this fact in mind.

lg v10 camera kills if you take steady pics...and manual controls are great...but auto mode is just ok...that's the part where s7 kicks in...I think that auto mode on v10 can be better but maybe we need some custom rom...until than...
About lags...I didn't have lags since note 2

LG G5 vs OnePlus 3

Hi, Guys!
I've been a massive tinkerer of phones since 2012, but since then, I have only been using flagships from yesteryears or Nexus.
Currently I am using Droid Turbo as my daily driver as it is personally is the better performer than Nexus 5x (Batt Life is extremely important to me).
Now I am looking to upgrade, and since prices of Oneplus 3 and LG G5 is roughly the same (G5 is actually cheaper here in PH)
I would like to know which one would you prefer.
I really am having a hard time deciding but I am narrowing it down to personal pro/con preferences
G5:
MicroSD slot - since my nexus 7 2013 is dying, I plan to consolidate all media to one phone and this is a big plus
Better Camera - The last great camera I had was Galaxy S5. Nexus 5x and Droid Turbo are just not fun to shoot with
Build / Bootloop Issue - I really really don't find G5 physically appealing add the fact that some units have bootloop issues
LG UI - I love stock
OnePlus 3:
Build - OnePlus looks fantastic to me
Stock Feel - Feels stock with non-obtrusive addition
Tinkerabilityl - OP has always been easy to tinker with
Non-Expandable Storage - The most glaring weakness of Op3 amdist 64GB Internal
LTE Connectivity - The Op3 available in PH are chinese version which do not have band 5 which could make the experience all the more frustrating. Philippines already has s**t networks with limited LTE support depending on where you live,
Further Notes:
As you can see, battery life is not mentioned since both has garnered mixed reviews. I also did not count Op3's camera as a con since it is a good performer.
Hope you guys can share your insights!

I am with OnePlus One and LG G4, and I've been thinking about upgrading to G5.
LG makes excellent smart phone camera, but the build quality has always been problematic.
So far we are having these issue on G5:
1/Bootloop
2/Screen Burn-in
3/GPS issue
If you prefer a reliable phone,OP3 is a better choice, but the 1080P AMO screen sucks.
I have both phones and I recommend the LG. I stopped tinkering and flashing roms. Oneplus is good for flashing new roms and do on not for anything else. My g5 doesn't bootloop or screen burn-in or gps issue. Camera, screen, sound extra sd card are the thing. Oneplus is an obscure experimental savvy phone
Well, my G5 (H850) is just perfect. Battery lasts about 5-6 hours SOT. GPS is also perfect.
I used to have OPO and @ItsNewDroid is right. You'll be flashing new ROMs almost every other day.
My vote goes for G5.
I'm using the H860 variant and so far no problems at all.

I Have the G5 for about 4 months now and the bottom line is just PERFECT no issues such as bootloops, burn in screen, GPS Performance is top notch aimply blazing fast i feel like this phone is pushing the boundaries of smartphones speed, my antutu score ia 147,356, The screen is the ideal size for the majority of people and the Display is stunning natural colors(not punchy like amoled which might seem strange but i don't prefer it), the build quality is great and i swear it feels like actual metal in addition to the VERY cold feeling every morning, camera is the best one
Verdict
Performance-Best among smartphones
Display-One of the best in the market
Camera-Main is magnificent and the wide is definitely not a gimmick
Hardware:- audio, fingerprint scanner and everything else is great
Battery-SOT 5 hours and 30 minutes on average
Easily the best smartphone ever
I had a dilemma berween S7 Egde and G5. Happy with my choice. I would have taken the S7 Edge if it offered a bit more in the camera department, but as it is...it's kinda limited. Oneplus offers really nothing better other than build quality and price. Oh and the cool volume switch. If I would buy a phone right now , it would be the V20.
Buy both OP3 and G5, first G5 if not satisfy go for OP3 I think, thanks
G5 for the win. Anyone change the battery every day? If yes how is the the bottom cover holding?any damage?
Sent from my awesome titan LG G5
Thanks for your input guys. I'm actually reading and watching G5 reviews. I'm now more inclined to get a G5 since LG also has a good update track record as of late

Same here : Don't own an OP 3, but my G5 is perfect, simply. No GPS, screen, bootloop issues and a SOT over 4h everyday with LTE and BT always on, I'm happy.

Should I buy this device?

Hello guys! I was thinking on buying a new device. Currently I have Galaxy S6, but before this device I always had LG phones(LG G2, G3). I didn't like G4 mostly because of lack of fingerprint sensor silly reason but I use it alot. So now I was thinking on buying LG G5 or LG V10. I don't think I will use the modulars in LG G5(except maybe I will get an extra battery). So which one do you suggest for me?(you can make other suggestions also) Thank you in advance

Honestly, if you like custom ROMs at all, I would vote no on both LG phones.
I would rather be running CM versus a stock ROM + Xposed. Xposed just seems to have too many issues where apps or tweaks stop working.
I previously had a V10, then via a warranty exchange, they gave me a G5. I accepted the G5 since I decided the V10 was just too big and bulky and the G5 was newer.
Comparing the two, I prefer my G5 over the V10 still. I do feel like the G5 is much more fragile. It is just more plastic-y versus my steel-railed V10. Additionally, the latest software on the G5 is much more feature-filled and polished versus the V10. Don't quite understand why the V10 doesn't have a very similar build of MM, but w/e.
Alternatives? Maybe wait until Oct 4th so we can get a look at Google's phone?
I am probably a bad person for suggestions as it seems like no phone can meet proper standards for me... Now if say the S7 was built by HTC, unlocked, water-resistant, nice 5.1" size... Maybe I would have a new phone myself!

Well, I guess I am a believer that all high-end device cameras are pretty darn good now; Isn't much of a noticeable difference between most of them.
Looking at some lengthy comparisons- http://www.androidcentral.com/camera-showdown-s7-vs-6s-vs-6p-vs-950, looks like it is kind of a toss-up.
What I can't speak for is how fast it is... When comparing my last few phones, Nexus 5 vs V10 vs G5; I would say the order is G5, N5, V10. For whatever reason, from launch to snap took FOREVER on my V10. I LOVE how fast the G5 is, I can take a photo in like 2 seconds, which is a big advantage to me.

It's much more likely to get fully working CM on a Qualcomm device like the G5 than on an Exynos device like the SGS6 or SGS7.
The Nexus 6p is outdated, I wouldn't buy a Snapdragon 810 device now.
The G5 is lightning-fast and has a very good camera. Also the battery runtime is good IMO. With CM or AOSP it would be a tremendous smartphone, let's see if the camera issue will be solved.
But however you decide, you have to buy what you like most.

Sorry for asking all these questions : but is there any development going on on AOSP ROMS for G5? If so what variant should I get?
Depends on you. If you like stock. G5 is a great buy. I don't mind if the H860 has no custom ROM for now as long as the stock official ROM is stable and usable and runs great. To be honest the stock ROM is great. Battery is good, performance is good and everything else. I'm happy that I bought G5. A big leap from my LG G2. Camera, gaming, video and the like are great. Custom ROM's are optional and depends on the user. I do like custom ROM but I'm satisfied with my current state of my G5. :victory:
If it's not too expensive I would go for the LG V20. I am happy with my G5, but I have an european H850 with unlocked bootloader and for a great price
Look into the V20 if you don't mind a larger phone
The phone hardware is amazing but it doesn't have many roms on the software side. I would still get it if I were you. I've had big problems with the Cam+ module I got as a preorder. 3rd one works fine though.
Honestly if you are going to get the LG G5. Get the V20 instead.

I can get a used one, or bad esn from US(which are very cheap) and unlock it(because I currently live in europe)
I really like it. It took some time getting used to it but I got it on prime day really cheap, so cheap in fact that once I sell it in 2 years I probably will not have lost any money
Battery life is good the cameras are awesome and it is really fast. If you can get a good deal on it, go for it

Which Phone Do I Get?

Recently I dropped my S5 and cracked the screen. I was running LineageOS and I thought about getting a new phone. I'm currently looking at the Galaxy S7 Edge from last year, and the LG G6 from this year. The S7 is pre-owned, while the G6 is brand new. They cost about the same per month. Which one should I go with? Which is one better supported by LineageOS? One thing I'm really worried about is the camera quality. Will the quality decrease as it did on my S5? I would like to keep the 120fps and 240 recording haha.
Well, i definitely would recommend the G6.
First of all i must say i hate samsung for there touchwiz OS but this can be solved by installing a rom.
But i feel Samsung devices get really slow after a while. In my opinion they are just made to survive 2 years.
I recently own the LG G6 but i must say i really like this phone . It's really fast, has a nice camera and i love the looks of it. For me it's a 100% clear go on the G6.
Good luck with your journey to buying a new phone!

You can always get your screen replaced if you want to keep your S5.
The LG G6 smokes the S5 in all categories, it's not even close.
I'd definitely recommend a brand new LG G6 all day over a used S7.
The camera is great and the phone itself is in competition with the S8 not the S7.
If I'm not mistaken, only the h870 and us997 versions of the G6 can have their bootloaders unlocked for Custom Roms. I don't think any of the S7s are unlockable.

Ah, I see. I'm gonna go with the LG G6 anyway. I was on the fence about flashing LineageOS or any other stock rom for the moment, as the camera quality usually goes down a lot haha. I don't think the LineageOS build for the G6 has OIS or 60/120 fps recording?
Go for G6
Purchased G6 a week ago only.
In love with the phone. The camera and the display is what will make u fall in love even more.
In hardware side it's a bit outdated compared to 2017 standards but it won't let u feel OUTDATED.
So go for a G6 :fingers-crossed: :victory:
I recently own the LG G6 but i must say i really like this phone because its specification are very suitable . It's really fast, has a nice camera and i love the looks of it.

G6 vs previous phone

(Not sure whether this belongs here or in the "real life review" section somewhere; mods, please move it if you think best.)
Ten days ago my wife and I moved from our venerable Nexus 5 phones to new G6 US997 carrier-unlocked phones. After living with them for a while, here are my impressions.
Things that are better on the G6:
- The display. Blacker black, more saturated color. The tall display ratio doesn't bother me, and the benefit is that we're getting a 5.7" screen in a phone only 2mm wider than the 5" Nexus 5.
- Battery life. My train ride to work would routinely take my battery down below 65% from a full charge; the G6 is usually comfortably above 90% after the same ride.
- Audio. Wasn't even expecting this, but the G6's audio sounds better.
- Build quality. The N5 is utilitarian compared to the slick G6.
- Camera. Much, MUCH better, and the camera app is better too.
- Fingerprint sensor.
Things I miss about the Nexus 5:
- A notification LED. I never realized how much I had come to rely on it.
- The developer community. There were about six times as many ROMs available for the N5 as there are for the G6. Right now a lot of ROMs seem to be in a holding pattern waiting for Oreo to drop. I realize the G6 is a relatively new phone, and the N5 community was old and well established. But I think that's affected by the next point:
- Unified hardware platform across carriers. The N5 had just two versions, an international and a US version, and they differed only in the radio bands. The G6 has all sorts of different versions, most not unlockable unless you get a carrier-unlocked US997 or an H870. I think this is going to curtail the developer community from attaining the N5's level.
- Relative ease of developer modes. Compared to the N5, it's a lot harder to get to the point where you can flash things on the G6.
I've already tried a few different configurations to see what I like best. I flashed Fulmics ROM for a while to try it out, but switched back to rooted stock rom today because it just seemed faster and more stable. Gave the LG stock launcher a fair try, but I'm back to using Nova now. I'll probably stay with this configuration until I see a stable Oreo ROM with LG camera support emerge.
I like the phone, I just wish it were a little bit more developer-friendly.
I absolutely agree with you. The g6 has amazing hardware but everything else does not follow. I'm coming from a op3t and a nexus 6p before that so I do know what SILKY SMOOTH fast performance is, and the g6 is just isnt as smooth. I'm personally waiting till november for the oreo update hoping it will very much improve the g6, otherwise I will never ever even entertain the idea of getting another non google (stock-ish) phone again !
Both the wife and I also came directly from Nexus 5s. The Nexus 5s started to slow down and mine would not charge on the wireless pads anymore. We got Unlocked T-Mobile phones, which came with an unlocking app. We are both on T-mobile so it doesn't really matter anyway. Very happy with the phones and T-mobile is pretty much keeping up with the security patches.

T-Mo had a killer buy-one-get-one deal for $500 plus the tax and fees on the second phone, but I passed on that and bought carrier-unlocked from B&H instead. Cost more, but I can root them.

I would absolutely have bought a Pixel if it came with wireless charging.
I'm considering making this jump too (Nexus 5 to G6). I really appreciate this review!
Is there any reason you didn't go with the pixel 2? I'm currently trying to decide between the G6 and the Pixel 2-- especially due to that missing headphone jack on the new pixel!

Wireless charging. That's a must-have for me. The headphone jack would probably have been a deal-breaker too, but the real reason was that the G6 has wireless charging.
You're going to chafe a little bit coming from the N5. I haven't installed any AOSP-based G6 ROMs yet, only the stock-based ones, and they're a little bit limiting compared to the wide range of choices you had available on the N5. But the G6 hardware is really, really nice, and the ROM support is coming along. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Oreo drops.

for me pixel 2 is a get go if u want all rounder better experience in android. my previous phone is nexus 6p and oneplus 3, now I using g6 with some sacrifice laggy software.
why I still prefer g6:
1. wide angle camera
2. flat screen!! curved screen hard to find a perfect tg glass
3. my version is dual sim, because I often travel. my primary sim number used for many security access. so I need a convenient phone that can disable enable my primary sim.
4. the overall design so elegant

My previous phone was a Nexus 6P.
I sold it about six weeks ago and bought the LG G6.
I had to pay an extra $25 (sold the 6P for $425) I also bought the extended warranty through SquareTrade for $99.
The warranty was a wash since the 6P was going out of warranty and I would have had to buy SquareTrade for it.
I got the unlocked US997 from B&H.
Anyway. It smokes the 6P on all fronts except stereo speakers.
I never listened to the speakers anyway.
The flat screen is awesome. I will never buy a phone with a curved screen.

What variant has most support? H850? H860? F700?

When buying phones I always check for its model and if it has lots of ROMs/Kernels because that's the first thing I install once I got it.
Asked because, it's hard to find an H850 here. F700 and H860 is most common one but looking on the ROMs section H850 is almost always present on the titles.
Is H860 or F700 fine?
I don't think those have any roms at all - the other 2 besides H850 with some development are H830 and RS988 (or something like that?).

The only reason I want custom ROM/Kernel is undervolting and sometimes a little overclock if I feel like it is slow + getting rid of bloat apps. I find myself not really tinkering with phones anymore. The only root app I think I have next to my phone's kernel configuration app is Greenify.
How's the G5 experience? Does it last long compared to S7? or somehow equal?
I came from the S4, so no idea how it compares to the S7.
It's a great phone with nice specs, and hopefully development will get better once Oreo is out
well then I had an S4 too. How does it compare to that? I mean I came from s3 all the way to s5. Planning to buy S7 but thought to try something else. The only thing that attracts me to G5 is the camera if everything else is roughly equal to S7 or S4 or S5 I'll buy one.

There is no comparison to the S4 ... it's like comparing a spaceship to a chopper
It's much faster with everything and it doesn't have that Knox sh*t Samsung has
Development has been sloooooow lately, but I still have hope that it'll change with Oreo :fingers-crossed:

Faster, less bloated user experience than the s7.
Other than the wide angle lense coolness, i prefer the s7 camera, especially in low light.

Trying not to get biased here but seems like s7 is winning for everything else other than the camera (day time). Thank you for the feedback about your experience on both.
I came from S4 to.
Most durable phone I ever had.
If the sim reader still worked I wouldn't change and would probably have lineage 15 on it.
Any how
My 2 cents
S7 over g5
Amoled
Cooler design
Loads of roms, probably another 5 years of XDA community support
G5 over S7
Removable battery
No glass back
One of the best IPS LCD darks I've seen.
camera. Seriously, I bought my g5 because I found a crazy refurb deal on eBay and now I'm not willing to ever go back to a non wide angle lens phone.

End up buying S7 today because of the said S7 reasons.
I agree on you on those points you listed but you forgot one more on S7 which is longer battery life.
I bought the S7 Edge which has even more battery compared to S7.
I think I can live with S7's camera. It's decent... it's just that G5 has a better one, but I don't think the camera alone is worth it compared to the other Pros of S7.
