Since yesterday evening new update is available to the chinese 4G version 7D-503L
7D-503LV100R001C233B008
Based on the nomenclature (R001) this should be an update to Android 4.2!
Download was not yet successful.
Anyone else had more success?

(and C233 is for china market with chenese apps )
ps : my phone ( 7d-503L in 7d-503LV100R002C233B010 android 4.4 EMUI 2.3 ) did not found new update
Ooops. Darn auto correction.
Of course this would not show up as an update on devices already on 4.4

I have a 7D-503L. Currently installing 15 Aug KK update B10.
Is it 503L or 501?
impossible to install
I went from boo2 to boo7 same Chinese version, the site instructs to use Sim for upgrade but links for software won't work . page needs translation and is almost impossible to upgrade thru site ,very dissatisfied with site, soon as I can find recovery software am going to version bo10, no way to go from boo7 to boo8
if the system was Rooted, the download fails.
Must reset the system then the download works.
For information there is a slight update with no visible change. The system retains the previous settings.
Thanks for the tip.
Reset how? Just stop super su and reboot?
Or actually factory reset? (that would be too much effort...)

I have a French phone and that appears like this:
"Paramètres / Sauvegarder et réinitialiser / Restaurer les valeurs d'usine."
I suppose :
Settings / Save and Reset / Reset to factory defaults.
Was afraid of that.
I will wait to hear from more feedback from users. As is, I will probably revert back to B006. Wifi 5GHz did not work but GSM connectivity was outstanding. Or as you would say fantastique!
B008 works great! Yes its a step backwards from 4.4 to 4.2, but the lag with the B007 is much less now, it feels pretty snappy, as good as the B010 (4.4)
However wifi and 3g seem to be much improved! Especially for me in the USA. Yes! this is a huge thing for me!
320DPI is awesome again and I can install all those apps that weren't compatible before with the 400DPI 4.4 roms.
This is the best version for the 503L. forget B010...

I noticed that too but to me that's pretty much it.
no other notable changes from the B007.
Obviously, it is still better than the b010 :good:
So, I've installed the full ROM from the EMUI site.
All data including root survived!!
I haven't had any Wi-Fi issues. Can confirm that 5GHz is still there. GSM will be checked during the week.
One thing I have noticed: GPS which was always good, definitely got better. More than a meter from the window, where I previously could not get a fix, I get a very goog one within seconds.
Added:
Seems like brightness adjustment has been tweaked towards the lower setting (=brighter).

Still sitting on R002,B010 and dealing with the 400dpi.
Just wondering if you still feel B008 is better than KitKat B010?

For me B008 was a huge improvement over B010.
B010 has a really snappy feel to it, performs good and eliminates the lag after opening the lock screen.
That's it however...
B010 has issues with...
Wifi and 3G signal cutting out frequently
400DPI (Makes a bunch of app incompatible)
Apps shutting down in the background after a while (You wont get messages from people on data services like, Whatsapp, Line, etc...)
My biggest issues was the signal drops, those are far less frequent on B008, Yeah there is more lag and performance issues, but it is a much more functional rom and is probably why its the newest rom they have put out...
Thanks! I just downgraded to B008 and so far it is a huge improvement over B007. Much smoother and the DPI issue makes it a fair tradeoff for KitKat.

Stock recovery and CWM recovery 7D-503L 4.2.2
Hello good. I have the 7D-503L MediaPad X1 android version 4.2.2 (B008). The strange thing is that I get the "build.prop" file that is in the system folder as (ro.build.product = hw 7D-501L). All updates are for 7D-503L. Anyway, I lost the stock recovery with which I can not install the custom recovery.
As much as I have researched I can not get a picture of the stock recovey nor custom CWM recovery for this verision and I need to update, backup, etc.
Does anyone have them? It could flash recovery? .If So could pass me.
Thanks and greetings to all
Hmm just realized I never reported back on GSM phone performance of B008: not as good as B006 was, but MUCH better than B007.
@menradio
idem for me, I have the same reference. Yet, it is, indeed, a 503L.
Below is the latest Huawei Official KItaKat Beta for 7D-501u (3G Mediapad X1 aka Honor X1 in China).
Main characteristics of this ROM are 320DPI and a whopping 1.4-1.5GB of free memory after boot.
Initial feedback by Chinese users is positive.
YMMV

If you encounter problems running this beta, 'fraid not, just download the latest official 501u ROMs from Huawei and flash it back.

Sorry, my bad, i copied some of the contents from my 503L thread, already corrected the mistake (the links were the correct 501u ROMs though).
To answer your qn, it is possible to flash 501u ROM onto 503L, but that would be pointless as LTE will almost certainly not work.
Anyone has tried this rom? Really need feedback before jumping in.
Does it come with google play and other necessary google stuff?

definitely no google services 'pre-installed' in China ROMs (all the 3 above are China ROMs).
u can however 'wake' them up by removing /cust/channel/XXX_XX_XX/xml/UNSTALL_APK.XML (/XXX_XX_XX is the only folder inside /channel; its name may vary from ROM to ROM)
will update the thread if i can find international version of 501u ROMs.
I successfully flashed it at the second time with another bigger rom download.
I can say that it is not worth of flashing because font size is very small and chrome is not compatible totally with phone page.
So, I decided to flash back to C233B010.
Don't waist your time.
any good for this rom? I'm running the 4.4.2 400dpi imui 3.0 which has two annoying issues:
1. can't set Nova Launcher as a default launcher
2. it is mobile UI, not tablet-optimized ui as in official 4.2.2 imui 2.0.
Does it has the above two issues?
How is it different from the 400dpi one? (already root, solve the google+ things).
Hi,
I'm running the 4.4.2 emui 3.0 400dpi from the below xda post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-mediapad/general/rom-kitkat-4-4-2-emui-3-0-400-dpi-t2925015
rooted it with iroot, solved the google+ compatibility as suggested in this board, now all incompatible apps are compatible.
My only problem is I hate the mobile UI on this 400dpi rom (prefer the tablet UI as in the official rom b020/b021, or, I guess, on any 320dpi rom).
I intend to update the rom to the one post here (320dpi). I've tried several times without success. It recogized my update file and after it spent some time loading the file on the updating display, it reported failed every time. What I did was creating dload folder, put the update.app into it with some other small files I brought from this 400dpi upgrade; or from other roms.
I also downloaded and tried updating with the official kitkat 400dpi (international rom, B102) from Huawei Germany website, it also failed at the same point (the display which has big EMUI banner)
I tried both on 32gb class 10, and 4gb class 4 microsd card.
Anyone had experience in updating your X1 (7D-501u) from 400dpi to 320dpi? What small files you put inside and outside dload folder (please share those files)? Any tips would be really appreciated.
I've flashed this rom 2 days ago and I'm very pleased by its performance. after removing huawei chinese bloatware it has more than 1.5gig of free ram!
compare to previous rom I'd have (EMUI3.0/400dpi/b002) it is very smooth and fast
the UI is not as polished as EMUI3.0 but not a single lag. the wireless is very stable too
however I have 2 problem with that
1. battery is not as good as B020 or B021 (I think google services make it worse)
2. double-tab-wakeup does not work (like other 4.4 roms)
@bthoven
I've flashed this rom over b002 by use of a cfg file from B010 zip file
not a single problem

EMUI 3.0 was just released few days ago, unfortunately only for China variant.
It is now under Beta version, receiving feedback from tester.
Already installed on my HAM 2 MT-L05, quite a large changes in user interface. and have the Android L navigation bar.

Processor/GPU is completely different hi silicon kirin v qualcomm snapdragon. Completely different LTE bands. Same amount of ram. Same screen. Data partition is emulated on MT2-L05, but this may have come about when we installed the kitkat update.
Hmmmmm so then a port might not be impossible. I run an S5 port on a Note 3 completely functional. I'll have to ask around and see what some devs think
what about the other ones. mt2-c00.mt2-l01.mt2-l02
the otther china variant have the update as well

EMUI 2.3 is only available for the Chinese variants of Mate 2, It's installed alongside KitKat 4.4.2
Emui 2.3 and EMUI 3.0 are currently unavailable for Mate 2 US version.
The EMUI 3.0 update is not an entirely cosmetic makeover as it does add a few new features to the phone.

Hi. I had the same problem on b606. Nothing would stick as a launcher as Huawei Home always overrides everything.
I got around this by installing nova launcher from playstore ( I'm sure any other launcher will work fine ).
Nova Launcher wouldn't stick as default launcher, Huawei Home always overrode it, so after making sure I had another launcher installed, I installed Rom toolbox pro and used the manage apps setting. I scrolled down to Huawei home, tapped on it and selected "FREEZE". As soon as you do this, the option to set Nova as default launcher appeared and has worked perfectly ever since.
Like I said, you can use any other launcher, just make sure you have it installed before you freeze "Huawei Home"
On a side note, I also had to re-root the rom after installation as root had gone, and I also had to perform the delete "set_immutable_list" hack to get Full root back.
( Bear in mind, I had TWRP installed on my MT2-L05 so the initial b603 OTA update wouldn't install for me, I had to download the full 1.23gb rom from Huawei Website and do a completely new flash from scratch, so this is why I probably lost root )
I also just checked the camera, the shutter speed is ninja fast for me .

Did you have to revert to the stock recovery before you were able to install the update? Wondering if there's a way to apply the update while still using TWRP.
No mate. I didn't bother. I just downloaded the full b603rom from the Huawei website, extracted the "dload" folder to my external sd card, powered down phone, held in VOL UP+VOL DOWN and then held in the POWER on and it just fastflashed the rom over the top of TWRP.
I then had an OTA for b606 which is about 140mb, I installed that and then rebooted.
I just booted into recovery out of curiosity, and now have an EMUI logo recovery with 3 options :
Reboot System Now
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
At least now we finally have full album artwork on lockscreen and media controls on lockscreen....looks pretty cool.
I have tried it with Spotify, N7 Player, Tunein Pro and Pocketcasts and they all display fullscreen artwork and media controls on lockscreen work for all of them.
Hi everyone,
I have the redmi note 4 (MTK decacore version with 2GB of ram) and I am constantly plagued with the "Just a sec" screen when exiting an app. I also am having trouble with notifications coming through.
messaging apps such as whatsapp will only send push notifications if it was the last program i used.
I have disabled:
animations
memory optimisation
I only have 3 messaging apps on start up.
my MIUI version is: Global 8.1 | Stable | 8.1.6.0(MBFMIDI)
Kernal: 3.18.22+
I'm thinking about rooting and flashing EPic rom or a .EU rom? or would a chinese based rom be better? but I do not know where to start.
any help would be great.
Thanks

Hi,
That ROM you have was recalled due to "bad user feedback" or a nice way of saying "Bugs"
You have the option of waiting it out as 8.1.7.0 is in testing & should release sometime?
Or you can flash one of the MIUI based unofficial ROMs as you say like EPIC, MultiRom or Xiaomi.eu.
For these you will need to unlock your bootloader & Install a custom recovery like TWRP.
Sing out if you need help & I'm sure one of us here can help you with that.

Do a factory reset. It'd help if there is any problem with the system files. If that doesn't work, download and flash the stock rom.

Being a no good dirty cheater, I'm a big fan of Game Guardian and I use it with great success on my HTC U11 phone. I recently discovered that it can be used without root, by using a virtualization environment such as Parallel Space or VirtualXposed. As I haven't rooted my M5 (SHT-09), I downloaded Parallel Space and GG and got it all running. However, I've found that I cannot make any edits to game memory space from within GG.
The are a number of posts on the GG forum suggesting that there is a bug (or security feature) in many Huawei device cores / firmware that relates to the implementation of the ptrace system function call. Something in the firmware seems to prevent the GG process from modifying the child process memory space using PTRACE_POKETEXT or PTRACE_POKEDATA.
The suggestion of the developer of GG is to "change the firmware so that there the ptrace system call works normally".
Anyone aware of this "feature" of Huawei device firmwares? Is there / could there be a solution to modify the firmware to "fix" this behaviour?
I saw you posted on my thread. Thanks for that. I wanted to see whether flashing a different kernel like Serenity would help. But i doubt it. Might be worth a try. Would have loved to know that beforehand. :/ Any other ideas? What I am seeing is that it needs a competent developer to recode the Kernel. I would then flash that patch. Other than that it is defined as unfixable. That we'd have to change the device. :/
It's the main reason that I haven't rooted / unlocked the bootloader, as running GG is pretty much all I use root for on other devicxes. And the fact that rooting / boot unlock kills Widevine level 1 support, which is madness on a 2k device like the M5. Wouldn't want Netflix streaming SD content only.
From what I understand, which isn't much, the issue is buried deep down in the kernel. Not sure if a custom kernel would solve the problem or not. Knowing XDA, I'm sure someone will be crazy enough to try it at some point in the future!

Yeah I get that, but some games dont have a cloud feature. Making parallel space useless. Plus I appreciate some other root features. I have a note 8 which should work GG without root, but I'll see how it goes. Oh really, I'm a big time stream fan. I havent tried Netflix with root yet . Should still work tho. I think. Hmm well, problem is all kernels are made for devices like the mate 10 or the P20. Not sure if they will work with the M5, wouldn't want to brick after all the trouble. [Edit, found the nextflix module apk. Can flash that with Magisk. Makes it work again ]

Alright guys, I found this out today (I'm also Kr1msonReaper on GG forums);
Huawei kernel prevents GG from working in Android Oreo HOWEVER-- If you downgrade to Android Nougat, I find that it works perfectly. Hope this helps!
Just a note, when you are, of course, debloating Nougat, make sure to disable Huawei system update app so you don't find yourself in Oreo the next day.

How do you downgrade to nougat? Any reason not to do it? And will I retain root ?
I actually like Nougat more than Oreo as it fixes issues such as the ptrace error and seems to have more battery optimization. It's been a long time since I downgraded to Nougat and since then I got a new phone but here's the tutorial I followed. @mrmazak has helped me out of se sticky situations and his tutorials have never failed me. https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/guide-honor-7x-flash-oreo-update-t3781649/amp/
I believe you will lose root but you can easily flash magisk again after installing the downgrade package.
Hope this helped!

I am not sure this would work on the Huawei mediapad m5 tablet. As far as I can tell it never had a nougat firmware to rollback too. I looked for sht-w09 and the all the files appear to be for Android 8 and none for 7 nougat. Unless I am missing something??
Other than they locked out ptrace stuff and that it appears unlikely to get Android 9 in the US for my mode l its a pretty good tablet. Maybe I should just sell it and move on to a tab s6 that can be rooted.

Hey! You're right I couldn't seem to find a nougat downgrade. On the bright side, I did find a Pie update for your model. Who knows, maybe ptrace will be fixed in that version?

Good luck!
