anyone knows how I can increase the capacity of the phone memory with an SD card, but without the root?
I state not intent just insert the SD card, but along with it increase phone memory to install applications
Thanks

Have not come across any post which claimed to do so... May be someone knows about it.

I have 2 SIMs with SD card simultaneously.
The only way to increase internal storage is to uninstall native programs (some can be done easily, like games) and/or move them to SD card. And the only way to do that is by rooting and using programs like Link2SD or System App Remover. I use the last one and it is very handy. I removed some GAPPs and native keyboard in favour of a more recent Swype.

Just to clear things a bit more, I have PLK-L01 with 2 SIM tray being the second SIM slot hybrid, either SIM or SDCARD. But I managed to have the 3 at the same time in two slots.

Trim SIM card and glued it to SDcard. I've already changed SDcard once afterwards so it's quite easy.

No it's not. It has a plastic layer and a "bubble" of glue than can be sandpapered a bit to leave just the metal components. This, together with a thin MicroSD allows to tray to be inserted and removed without much trouble, but with some care.
Result: 2 SIM cards and 128GB working 9 months.
It pretty much works in any hybrid SIM tray.

I´ve made a guide in Portuguese, but it was based in this info:

One thing I advise is to be patient as doing things in a rush result in a damaged SIM. My first attempt gone wrong, but the next two times went smoothly and successfully. Take your time, have tools and good illumination.

Not sure where you bought your phone at. Have you taken it to a tmobile store and have them try? It could be a defect.
No it has been working just fine for like 10 months now for some odd reason it sometimes holds it and sometimes not

thats really odd.... when you insert the sdcard can you feel the spring engage? does the lock engage?(feel a little click after spring is compressed)? do you unmount the external_sdcard often? maybe things have just worn down....(i've only removed the sdcard a few times stepped up from the 2G, to a 8G, currently patriot class10 16G) but never had any problems with any external_sdcard staying in place.
take that bad boy apart!! its just some phillips screws i imagine its just a spring issue. I was gonna do the "hardware GPS fix" tonight so i'll take a look at the setup while im in there if there isn't a fix posted by then.

namadrider123 is correct it sounds like a easy phone replacement from tmobile that should be the #1 fix option for this problem (or any hardware problem for that matter) always attempt to get hardware defects replaced under warranty before you go messing with stuff yourself (good rule of thumb!)
It holds it sometimes but the little click thing isn't holding it. For now it is but if I take it out it will be hard to push it back in.

I was swapping out batteries and wasn't paying that close attention and something snapped. The freaking SD card broke in the phone. I have half an SD card in the phone that I am unable to bring out. And the phone doesn't recognize the card anymore either.
Any ideas on what to do now? This sucks balls. Anybody have any experience getting at the card area?

yeah i noticed too how far the sd card sticks out.
yeah so opening up the phone was a snap, pretty easy, but in the process of dislodging the card from the behind, I probably messed up the connection so now the phone won't recognize the card.
Not a big deal, I feel like I have a Galaxy Nexus now.
so instead of 16 gb you only got 8 gb left???
So randomly this morning I'm using the phone and all of a sudden I see a mounting SD card. So it works now.
Keep the hope alive.

I've selected only the first option (new files on SD card will be encrypted) and let it sit over night. The "Wait until SD card encryption is completed" Continue button is still greyed-out. Is that normal?
That is a question for your carrier.

A question for the carrier? How so? Isn't the GS3 doing the encrypting? This is for local storage no?
Good question. I'm sure it depends on the card read wrote speed. I didn't do my 16 gig cuz the phone advised me it might take a while. Anyone encrypt their? How long did it take? What size card?

Going on day 3. Something has to be wrong. Anyone else done any other SD card encrypting?
Touch the card and feel if its getting hot. Ive noticed with these micro SD cards (and probably all mem cards) that when you do a lot of read/writes, like your doing right now to encrypt it, the cards get real hot, once they get hot enough the card effectively stops working.
I hate to say this but probably on day 1 your card stopped working and its been frozen ever since (well actually overheating would be a better term). Its probably not dead though, Ive had some cards get mighty hot to the touch, enough to burn but they kept on working, so I would't worry about that too much.
I would't encrypt the card honestly. I like to keep my cards from being written to too many times to a minimum as much as possible...
Is there any way to upgrade the internal 16GB storage to a 32GB? I'm not referring to the external MicroSD card.
It might be possible i think samsung use SD cards as their internal storage.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772234
is it even possible ? unless there are motherboard with 32 gb for sale ?
This is not possible for the conventional person unless you have access to some pro level reflow ovens and flash chips.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
You need a laptop hard drive, super glue and a hammer.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So is that basically a no, without serious mods to the phone?
Dude the internal flash memory is what's called smd in electronics (surface mounted device). Basically they are miniaturized semiconductor components with tiny solder pads which can only be joined with specialized equipment.
It's impossible to mess with it at home, that's why I sprung the extra cash for the 32gb version.

This is indeed a very interesting notion since the galaxy s3 was my very first smartphone and android I thought to myself that with the 16gb internal SD with an extra external SD card it should suffice but I was very wrong as apps only install in the internal SD card and I'm almost at my limits since I have alot of HD games and apps installed.

Have a look at Directory Bind. This should solve your space issues (assuming you have a micro sd card in your phone).

My question is: How can i get the original 32gb capacity back, i don't care about the files saved on it.
Looked around on google a lot, seems like there isn't much hope...
Here's what happend: i did the wiretrick but got the arrow screen, i had already replaced the 2gb card (which i used with the wiretrick) with my original 32gb, then it formatted everything to recover the state it was in before the wiretrick. This caused my 32gb sd card to be formatted to 2gb..
If someone has a solution, i will be grateful!

Yes, but it didn't work..
I am able to recover my photo's video and music with a program called 'Steller Phoenix Photo Recovery', but there's no option to format or anything.
That's the weird thing, multiple programs tell me it is 32gb, yet it can only write the 2gb..

Yeah, i had the 2gb in it whilst doing it, but i made a big mistake by putting in my normal 32gb card whilst restoring...
Im trying the mini partion tool as we speak!
Where did you buy your 32GB SD card? I've seen articles about people buying what were supposed to be 32GB capacity cards on eBay and they turned out to be smaller capacity cards (often 2GB) that were somehow formatted to look like higher capacity cards.
I've done the wire trick twice and didn't have any problems reformatting a card that got corrupted on a PC, but I usually buy my SD cards from Amazon or a local source.
ramjet73
It had 32gb in it when i bought it in a store. I don´t like buying online for some reason.
anyway, i fixed the problem!
What i did:
I recovered my files with a program you can easily find online (search top 5 sd card recovery tools), afterwards i formatted my sd card, didn't change a thing. Then i ran into a program called EaseUS Partition manager, this program allows you to 'merge partitions' on your sd card for free.
This basically formatted the part of the sd card that couldn't be used and merged it with the 2gb that could, now i've got the whole 32gb back.
Anyway: thanks everyone!
Any partition tool will merge partitions. Gparted, minitool, windows. Only caveat is winblows refuses to work with ext formatted partitions.
sudo passwd root
With mini partition tool thats only in the paid version..

Where did u buy it.? If u bought it off eBay then u r likely a victim of micro sd fraud. Programmers modify the code to make say a 2gb appear to be a 32 gb, but once formatted, the code is formatted and the true culprit is unmasked
