so i bought a so called faulty galaxy mega of ebay with software problem
When i boot the phone it sticks on galaxy mega logo for a bit and restarts and does it over and over again
when i try to boot into recovery it shows android logo no command and restarts in few seconds i though eh maybe firmware is corrupt il just load a twrp cm rom on my sd card and flash it but nooo when i try to flash twrp via odin i get
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..

<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Size)
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
<ID:0/003> Removed!!

any ideas how to fix this and if there is a file i have to download or whatever please add it if you know where to find it
Also i noticed when i flash stock firmware with or without pit file it flashes alright then restarts attempts to boot into recovery and starts factory reset shows no command seconds later and then restarts

My phone is International version, rooted and using omega ROM for about an half year now and everything was fine until it suddenly restarted and stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 blackscreen, i tried to boot into recovery and reboot. After that, it still stuck on the blackscreen and i can't boot into recovery anymore. I also attempted to flash stock ROM via Odin and it failed. This is my Odin log:
<ID:0/009> Added!!

<ID:0/009> NAND Write Start!!

How can i solve this problem ?
Update: I tried using the PIT file and it pass but the flashing stock rom doesn't. Now it appears with black screen and "Firmware update encountered an issue" instead of the boot screen, the odin always fail with flashing rom
looks like sds
Can anyone help me please ? I need my phone so bad

When i came home my phone would bot respond to unlocking the screen so i've pulled the battery and powered on and then the screen was white and full of horizontal lines . At first i thought that there was something wrong with the screen connector becaus the scrreen lokked different when phnone was off charger was plugged in and different than normally turned on. But with hope i've tried booting to recovery again lines. but booting to download mode worked.
Then i've searched over xda and few other sites (mostly linking here)
I've tried flashing single file stock rom:
Code:
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
then i've downoaded mx.pit file tried with repartition and there was:
Code:
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Re-Partition operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I've pulled battery for 15 min ant the same thing happend.
I even tried updating via KIES in download mode but there was an error . in the begining of the update.
The warranty of the phone was voided few months ago.
Is there anything I can still do at this point (maybe finding proper pit file .... bit i dont know how to match it to my gt-i9300 16GB version)
Will someone better equipped will be able to repair it or i have to brace myself for the cost of a new phone (mainboards are as expensive ad used s3)?
is this what you have ?

Hello everyone
Today my phone randomly went into ***** mode and it didn't do anything when I pressed the home or power button. So I pulled out the battery and put it back in and started up the phone as this wasn't the first time that something likes this happend. But it didn't do anything. It just showed the Galaxy S III logo and that's it. So I tried to boot in recovery and tried to wipe all my data. But it gave like a thousand errors saying: Can't mount /cache/ ... Can't mount /sdcard/ etc... So I tried to flash stock rom with odin. It failed. So I googled about my problem and tried to flash the PIT (don't know if i'm saying it correctly) and it gives this error:
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..

So after some research I found out about SDS (sudden death syndrome). It seems that my internal memory is damaged and I have to get a new motherboard or a new phone? Is there any way to fix this? As I can still acces download mode and recovery mode (although none of the functions work).
I had cyanogenmod 11.2 M12 on it, so android 4.4.
Thanks!
Try the rescue firmware from general forum, flash with the pit file that thread contains.
If that fails then downgrade bootloader to BLFB first before flashing.
If none of that works then nand is burned out, time for a new phone.
nope, none of the solutions you said worked, guess it's time for a new phone... RIP my $$$

Sudden death didn't be fixed in 4.1.2 ?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
Sudden death was due to a bug in the nand memory wear levelling code, the memory still wears out now -but not so fast.

hmmm thats strange, okey i guess your device is probably dead
Hello,
I recently borrowed my roommate's Verizon S4 because my phone broke. I rooted it because I have a different provider.
However, in my root addicted mind-set, I decided to get a custom ROM installed and so I tried to download recovery. This phone was running 5.0.1.
Upon downloading a recovery, the phone soft-bricked. It shows the Samsung logo with a wrench, and makes an error message when attempting to boot.
I tried using Odin to flash the stock firmware, but I kept getting the following error:
<ID:0/003> Odin engine v(ID:3.1005)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> SingleDownload.
<ID:0/003> sbl1.mbn
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> sbl2.mbn
<ID:0/003> sbl3.mbn
<ID:0/003> rpm.mbn
<ID:0/003> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/003> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I've searched long and far and have yet to find a solution. I know that the reason for this issue is most likely due to the 5.0.1. build, but I was hoping that maybe something had developed in the last few months.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Also, I am not able to boot into recovery, but I am able to boot into download mode - I also reinstalled the Samsung drivers, and am using Odin 10.6. I tried using the ME7 firmware, but that didn't lead to much either.
I recently found a Verizon Software Assistant file and my phone won't be recognized on the application. Not sure what next steps are. I posted on reddit too, and no luck there either.
