Stock vs AOSP - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

I haven't used my Mate 2 in a while but I am noe on it as a back up while ASUS figures out how to fix my Zenfone 2 or send me a new Zenfone 3.
I have Candy ROM on my Mate 2 but notice after using it for a while my battery isn't near as good as it used to be while on a stock rom. I do however think I will miss some of the 6.0.1 features such as permissions settings should I choose to go back to stock. Does anyone have any real preference one over the other?

help,in a rush plz advice

hi guys, planning on buying the redmi note 3-snapdragon variant(kenzo,if im right).so is there any stable cm based rom with all the hardware working (ril-3G data, camera -photo& video-- being my priority),xposed compatability is imp too for ui tweaks.i dont mind even if its just lollipop, just want to have the lighter cm based rom, aosp would be too bland for me.hoping for advice frm rn3-sd users,in fact i wanted mi max but development seems to be slow for that device, plz pour in with your advices
I think you can go for it. I am using this devices since the release and I am very happy with the development.
it has official CM
If you want VoLTE you can go for AOSP
I have one and everything works perfectly on CM13 with the front camera fix flashed and Radon Kernel. I love it
You can definitely buy this phone. Most of the cm13 based roms have all the features working, also there's a huge choice between custom roms. And of course xposed is working very well.

Correct. If you don't care for Volte, almost most of the custom roms are stable enough to use it as daily driver. Volte is still not supported in most of the custom roms like CM13. CM14 supports it but it's WIP rom right now.
thank you very much for the input friends,it means a lot to me.i was going thru the respective rom threads(cm13,rr) some users were complaining abt camera,fp sensor, settings fc...something abt newer rn3 having slightly diff h/w and causing problems.anything in particular that i should be watching out for?...i just ordered 32gb ver of rn3 frm amazon india, its pending dispatch.ever since its release i wanted to get one..although seeing some user complaints i was wondering if i made the right decision...thats why i was in such a rush

Well, they are right. All the problems you've mentioned here do exist, but....
As i can see you can use xda search pretty well, and if such a problem occurs you can easily find a way to fix it.
So don't worry ?

Auto switch-on

In MIUI ROMs you can schedule a switch-off and a switch-on time (e.g. the phone can power off at 01.00 AM and then power on at 7.00 AM).
In custom ROMs (at least in the two I've tried, LOS and RR) this option isn't there, and I cannot find an app that can switch-on the phone from the power-off state (for switch-off there are many apps).
Do you know if there is an app that is capable of switching-on the phone when powered-off?
'Security' app, (which is built in to Miui).
Settings.
Battery Usage.
Schedule power on/off.

He's asking if there's an app to do that on other ROMs , I think not. Why not enjoying some MIUI? I come from years of stock Android (n1, Nexus s, Nexus 5, Nexus 5x) and... Well it's different but it's not that bad!

I tried for a couple of weeks (the 8.2 stable), I love some features of MIUI but I feel more comfortable with a ROM similar to stock Android.
But I definitely would suggest MIUI to any non-tech-savvy user out there.
Maybe if the new Xiaomi A1 that uses stock Android include this on/off feature (like other Xiaomi phones), that could be ported to Xiaomi phones' custom ROMs...

I don't remember what custom rom I saw with the on/off. I was using my LG G3 so it was 4.x or 6.x rom. So it can be added to custom rom just need to find a Dev willing to add the code and make it work properly.

disappointed with this phone

I'm disappointed with this phone, I still hope 8 Android Oreo. I decided to go back to Redmi Note 3.
We don't have as many developers as redmi note 3 has. Instead , we have just one. Good that we still have one....
Also , with only one dev , the android oreo progress is slow...

Hey, i had Redmi Note 3 SD and there is a big difference in build quality, camera and screen.
Why u decided to take the rn3 again?
Only cause of ROMs?
MIUI is just fine
btw. Last week the dev uploaded a few ROMs on Oreo, check it out!

Galaxy S9+ Costum ROM performance

Hello guys.
Does everyone here have their Exynos S9 and S9+ with costum ROM? I want to get an S9+ but I really want to know more about the ROMs. The best ROM for me seems to be the one by ExyKings and so far it doesn't seem to have any bugs.
The thing is.. Do we lose/break any features that come with the stock ROM if we flash a stock based costum ROM?
I wanted to go with lineage but some camera features will be gone, Iris sensor won't work, stereo speakers wont be so good and etc....
Also is the performance of the ExyKings ROM much better than Stock or will the difference be more noticeable on Stock vs Lineage?
I'm making the jump from a Zenfone 2 ZE551ML with LineageOS14, much better than stock Asus ROM.
Thanks for your help

Most developers list the features you will lose after installing their ROM. Typically those features are Knox, Secure Fokder, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health and any warranty you may have remaining.

New to Redmi Note 4. Best ROM right now?

Hi everyone! My father has bought a new phone so he will be giving his note 4 to me(Snapdragon). I don't like MIUI and especially when it's on a old phone. In that case AOSP ROMs are best.
Currently, i am using Le2 which is close to specs of redmi note 4 but the ROM development of this phone is bad. I am using lineage os 16.0 on my le 2 and it gives only 3-4 hrs SOT, huge network drops, performance is fine. Before it, I was on LeMax 2 and it was good but battery was not that good. Yeah, I am degrading on hardware but I am excited for redmi. Their ROMs are always good.
Redmi has good development support.
I am looking for a ROM that will be stable. Also should I flash android 10 ROM now or should I wait?
TLR; Which ROM should I flash that will give me best of this phone? Both battery wise and performance wise.
From my point of view, the best is the pixel experience. It has a very good performance, an excellent battery consumption and the rom is very clean, it has no blotware. Try it will not disappoint you.

Thanks for suggestions. Can you please tell me Which one? Pie or android 10? And if you don't mind can you please do a short review of how your experience was. I checked android 10 thread of PE I found out there are features missing like nav bar and gesture bar.

If you want the most stable one then go with pie
If you want a beta one and Android 10 features like gestures then go with 10 - the back gesture doesn't work in all Android Roms till now -
And another thing is , don't go with pixel experience..
Try resurrection remix , it's got the same ui as stock Android and pixel experience and all it's features plus a whooooooooole lot of customization options available , you can tinker around the settings for an hour every day for a month and you wouldn't be done
tldr/ try resurrection remix it's the best
