how can i prevent my p9000 from activating the loudspeaker during a call? I often use earphones during a call, and as soon as i put the phone on my pocket, it activates the loud speaker
is there a way to prevent that?

Guys there is a problem when I use the speaker when making online calls eg viber and tango. There is a strange noise but it only occurs when using the speaker. If the person I am talking to mutes his Mic then the sound stops. So it is a problem with outputting the sound. But the speaker works fine during normal phone calls and games and music etc.

Sounds like a typical white noise VOIP.
I don't think it is white noise because as the volume increase the sound does. If the volume Is low or the person isn't speaking the sound is low.

The sound increases as the persons voice increases and his voice sounds robotic. It sounds a bit like a police siren.

I noticed when I'm playing music through the audio jack to my car's auxiliary, bluetooth headset is disabled for calls. I have to pull the audio jack, then the button for bluetooth is enabled again.
My G2 would allow calls to go through the bluetooth headset and then once the call was done, music would continue on auxiliary.
Is there any way to get this back? Anyone else think this is an issue?
Yep have the same problem, thanks for asking the question hope we get an answer.

I thought this was a bug as well. However when using the aux, I am having an issue with the audio being muted when I disconnect the headphones and no way to bring the audio back up unless I restart the device.
If there a way to make speaker phone as default for making and receiving a call? I would say 90 percent of the time I am using speaker phone and it's annoying to hit speaker every time. Be alot nice if I could hit speaker off if I didn't want it on a call.

Someone correct me if I am wrong....but, there is no native way to do that with android....you will need an app from the market for that....the app called "custom car home" works very well for this...good luck
I know you can do this hooked up via Bluetooth or aux not sure if it is without a accessory

Is there anybody like me: my C6802 does not play sound through out loud speaker. It just play sound through out conversation speaker (internal speaker).
Is it a big bug?

Hello friend, I noticed the same thing in my c6833 with kitkat.
Even videos... the audio was played in the ear speaker, and very low.
Altought, when I rebooted my phone, everything went to normal.
For me, it's not a constant.. more like a bug
I have also experienced this on one occasion, and it's a known bug that affects all Sony devices on KitKat. I'm sure Sony is working on it.

I have experienced that too. I don't know why but now it seems to stop. I'm not sure what, but turning off all the Sound enhancement, esp the dynamic equalizerseems to be the solution for me.

Happens on my c6806... Come on Sony this stuff isn't supposed to happen on release of an update that should have been tested. This is why apple murders android because the software works

Check these posts from the Z1 forum, they may help the ZU also, since it's almost the same hardware.

Hey guys did you try this?
Go to settings / sound / volumes / notification
Change the notification sound to maximum and make sure you can hear it from the speakers once you do, reboot.

How exactly does this technology work? Does it require an aux cable to work, or can it work for bluetooth audio connections? I have paired with my beats via bluetooth and also via aux cable and did not notice a difference. I did ensure the hifi was turned on but I did not see a way to customize the sound like I have seen in unboxing videos.
It only works with headphones physically plugged into the headphone jack. At that point you can enable HIFI from the toggle bar and it will enable the DAC when only using the stock music player.

In agreement with this, but just wanted to add that some streaming services appear to be using the ESS DAC by default regardless.

By customizing the sound, do you mean eq? If so, on the bottom right side in the stock app, you can choose eq settings.

Interesting. I use spotify and google music, so it looks like the DAC stuff will not be of use.
Darn!
It can be used locally (downloaded music) from what I've read. Also, there seems to be a way to trick the device, by using stock music player and enabling hifi, pause the mustard switch to a different app. I haven't tried it myself, but people have reported it working on Head-Fi.

The amp should still work though, which is the most important. DAC's are very hard to discern any differences with. I hear no difference with HiFi on/off through my $1500 headphones and $400 IEMs FWIW - only an amplification difference on the stock music app.

I posted about that. It seems to work for only one song on Google Play Music (next song reverts back to SD DAC). On streams though, like SXM, it seems to stay enabled.
@Nitemare3219- didn't know that was you on Head-Fi. Lots of us on both spots.

The hifi components also work 100% with Tidal without any "tricks". So for me it's the stock music app for all the music on my SD card, and Tidal Hifi when I stream. The hifi DAC and amp are pretty amazing. Sounds great with my Q701 and all my other easier to drive headphones as well.
The DAC is activated by any cable plugged into the headphone jack (with it switched on that is) I use it in my car into my Aux in and it sounds as good as my iBasso D-Zero Mk2 portable DAC.
