It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the honor 5X before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The longest I've gotten was just under 6 and a half hours with 9% battery left when I plugged in
Sent from my KIW-L24 using XDA-Developers mobile app
8 hr screen on time with moderate use
Great battery life
If I use my honor 5x moderately, I get around 5.5-6 hrs SOT. under heavier use it's usually 3-4 hours.
also battery would last a full 24-hr day with normal use and recharging would take ~3hrs.
Wow, this 5x is a beast on SOT.
5.5hours of sot 4me on average usage
Giving me 1 day usage
just pulled 5hrs sot
dual sim mode,
4g active
hostsopt and vpn was active around 1hr
rest all goes to insragram and xda app and some gaming
That's fantastic
The battery has been extremely amazing, I got this phone and got rid of my Nexus 5x. It was an upgrade in this category.

Yep you're right, but the nexus has an advantage of direct support from google (which results in a better dev support) and front facing speakers

Hence why I said in this category
I do understand
Best one so far, 7.5 hours. Location, 4G, lots of browsing. Running B350. I don't know if that amount of awake time is normal - like my phone isn't sleeping unless I turn wifi off...
Now With 4G ON 24 x 7, I'm getting a day exactly on normal usage.
With my stock 2A charger, it gets charged by 2hrs.
moving post to correct thread.
Quite good
With a lot of ROMs ( RR, crdoid,...) getting 4h30/5h SOT with still 30% left.
Of course i use forcedoze and frooze some system apps like devtools, inputdevices, timeservice and keychain.

Is 3 hours of screen on time on Lollipop good? I keep hearing of people that get 5 or 6 hours of screen on time and No android device I get has ever achieved that. Even my xperia z3 tablet compact can't get over 3 hours of Screen on time. Am I doing something wrong? Like could I be using my device too much?
check apps wich draw most battery and get rid of them , if this won't work then do a factory reset ...
I get between 4 1/2 and 7+ SOT hours.
Depends mostly if I turn Bluetooth on (SmartWatch), GPS use (Google+ position tracking, weather),use a lot of Internet (chrome is a battery sucker, you don't believe it), sync a lot of mails n stuff like that.
Of course it depends on your apps, but 3 hours is really not a lot, may be your battery is not good.
The 3 hours screen on time is with heavy usage but the standby time is amazing.

It very much depends on a rom.
I was able to get around 4-5h sot on lollipop, but it was on Google style rom. On some more customized or stock roms you may get a bit worse battery life.
So to answer your question, 3h is a bit below the average result.
The reason may be an old battery.

Old battery? My Z2 is only 2 months old and was bought brand new.
Perhaps rom related. Most ever SOT I got was around 4.5 hours and that was on Lollipop Google style rom...
Hi! I own a RN4X for about 3 months. When i started using it I could easily get minimum 9h of SOT no matter what i was doing (usually im just watching youtube, listening to music and using browser). Now i can get barely 6h of SOT. No matter what ROM I am using or what kernel. Max 7h of sot. Are xiaomi's batteries so weak or just my device is kinda defective? Should i give it to warranty?
You are so spoiled.. there are barely any phones on the market that will give you 7hr SoT, also what you gonna say in warranty? That you have 2 hours less SoT? This guys in service center will face palm so hard..

That doesn't change thing that people i know still have 10h+ SOT on the same usage with that device after using it for a year. It just isn't normal that after 2 months my battery started to behave like its 2000mAh. And battery isn't my only problem. I've got a few bad pixels, headphones sometimes "unplugs" itself and phone starts to use speakers, awful signal in a big city (ofc only for me, i know many xiaomi users and their signal is pretty good in those areas)

There is no such thing as same usage between 2 people, 20% less screen brightness can give you 1 more hour sot if not more, different carrier = different signal = different battery life, there is thousands things like this which make battery life comparisons useless, dont be stupid.
Trust me, i've been using it on 40% of brightness and underclocked cpu to 1684Mhz. We all are using the same carrier. Our use is really comparable. I wouldn't post that if it was different.

try to do super clean flash... means you use OTG to flash... wipe all the partition on device, including the internal storage too....
My wife have been using mido since february and still got 10+ hours SoT, there is no performance or battery degradation. That makes me switch to mido too about a month ago...
do not install use custom kernel, you see the long list of features but actually it's not necessary...
for example, Its absolutely not necessary to underclock the cpu... decreasing cpu clock will not increase battery backup.
When the cpu is slow, yes it will consume lower power on load... but It will need more time to load
When cpu is fast, yes it will consume higher power when on load, but it will go idle faster
calibrate battery usimg an app. you will any on play store. install any and calibrate. the must require root.

Of course i have twrp. I've been using custom roms. Yes, miflash an erase everything and then install stock images. I guess i will try it.
Well, i flashed stock rom via miflash. Still i can get max 7h of sot on LIGHT using. No custom kernels. No matter if im using a miui based rom or a custom. Still max 7 hours :/

Meh, I got used to it. If your phone is still under warranty they should replace your battery for free. Im too lazy for that.
same as me too , 10-12hr sot last two month when my rn4x still new , now only 6-7hr sot , using resurection remix with the same usage as before , and dead pixel keep increasing.

Hello guys,
My question is which ROM seem to be best for you in battery life? Im talking about my R3Pro(ido) device. I've been using xiaomi.eu's stables from beginning which has great 8h SOT, but now experiencing like 3h SOT with LineageOS 14 always updated with Xposed and all day data/WiFi on. Any ideas? Should I change back to MIUI?
Thanks

U can try:RR,SudaMod,Lineage OS 15 Unofficial or PixelExperience 8.1.
The UNTEST-20171122 version of Resurrection Remix N has the best battery life for both screen on and off time, hands down. Was a lifesaver in a recent job where I listened to hours of podcasts per day to keep sane. Keep away from Oreo ROMs for the time being, theyre still largely broken apart from PixelExperience (which instead has the fun problem of ridiculously fast battery drain.)

No. The only things I flash on my device are the ROM, GApps and Magisk. The battery usage when the screen is off is the prizewinner here. It rarely goes down more than 2% after being left for more than 2 hours, which is ideal for me. Still though, I'm pretty sure I get more than 3 hours of screen on time. Learn to use some basic battery saving methods; turn the brightness to 50% or lower, turn off wifi or data when you're not using it...or better yet, learn to restrain your usage of it when out and about
When I go out, the phone is generally being used consistently all day via me using Bluetooth headphones along with some occasional use of 4G data. It usually never gets past the 40% mark by time I'm back home and I'm usually out for more than 5-6 hours per day. Honestly I'm not personally sure what the issue with having to charge it daily is...I've never had a phone which didn't require such a task, with the exception of things like the original Nokia 3310.

I did the same on my friend's phone: Rom, gapps mini and Magisk. I can't tell you about his usage of the phone, but I've seen battery stats and it just can barely reach 3 hours of SOT, the usage is mostly of socials and music.. This rom here and latest LOS builds are just very battery draining, I don't know what to do with that phone! Anyway, thank you for the reply and the tips, I'll let him know!
What about MIUI? Maybe the EU version? Somedoby that tried that out can tell which will be the pros and the cons? Is it still on Lollipop?

Ahh, social media apps can very easily drain the battery from what I remember. The Facebook app is especially bad for it if I recall correctly. Perhaps grab a Wakelock detector app, see if anything is keeping the phone awake and then use Greenify to stop the apps from doing that.
With regards to MIUI, I seem to recall stock MIUI (from the official Xiaomi site) definitely having the best battery life out of every other rom I've used, with MIUI.eu not being as good but better than other custom roms. In terms of pros and cons, there isn't much. It works a little differently to regular Android so there's some bothering aspects to it (such as the Files/Documents app being disabled by default for some unexplained reason, meaning you have to re-enable it after every reboot.) And yes, It's still on Lollipop sadly, meaning apps like password managers etc can't use the fingerprint scanner.
Honestly I'd say wipe everything on the phone, clean flash RR-UNTEST and then slowly re-add all the apps and see if one in particular causes heavy battery drain.
So, day one, regular use for me, at 50% after nearly 9 hours! Thats a record for a Samsung device, for me.
Not sure mate how your, but my is completely disappointed, pixel 7 pro has 8h+ on display S23U hardly has 7.5h+

That's probably "good" (?) for the S23U, especially if not optimized. All Samsung's should be optimized for best battery life and performance. Either by Package Disabler or adb edits.
Even with a degraded battery that due to be replaced I'm getting 8 hours or so on an optimized* N10+; easily over 12 hours SOT on a new battery. Samsung's stock solution has been to use a bigger battery since the N20U, with progressively worse SOT per mAh in spite of what should be more efficient SOCs and ram... and now no expandable storage.
*unoptimized the N10+ was a hot running hog that got 6.5 hrs SOT. Optimizing nearly doubled the SOT as significantly increased the screen off time as well. Backup Transport was a major perpetrator.
I got 19 hours on day one. Today I'm at 43% after just under 10 hours with just under 4 hours screen on time

N10+, screen off, cell/internet service on with AOD set to tap on, I use less than .5%@hr.
With good battery I use a total of 6-7% browsing with Brave, again with a good battery. Display manual brightness of 30-40%
With a degraded battery which is at replacement time this is what I'm getting, most of which is watching utube vids.
No 5G or variable refresh rate display, power set to optimized. This is with a less efficient ram and presumably SOC. More significantly much less mAh capacity.

For P7P, I find it varies wildly by ROM. Stock is a good middle ground, I think the best so far for me have been the AOSP-based ones with Gapps.

I was about to comment the same. I never got that kind of SOT on the pixel 7 pro after three months of having the device max would be 5 1/2 probably six squeezing everybit of juice. Good device but for battery the s23 ultra is giving me way more for the same usage no optimization.
I think by enabling the light performance profile, the device becomes a battery champion

Yeah I will say the February beta has had me going 39h off the charger with 5h SoT but that's largely been on wifi. I know from messing with my OnePlus 9 that it doesn't *have* to be super draining on LTE but I've taken the Pixel out on a day's outing and had it lose 50% in 3 hours on LTE/5G.
I've "upgraded" from the Fold4 in the hope that battery life would be much better. I'm blown away by how long this thing lasts!

SoC upgraded with a better power-efficiency, far smaller screen surface to power and also 600mha more on the battery. An other outcome would have been surprising.

Whole heartedly agree. My usage on the Fold4 - I hardly used the internal screen (I know, I know!). Comparing external screen use alone, this thing wins night and day. Surprising in some ways because of the resolution and pixels being driven vs the fold4 external display, but as you say, more efficient SoC coupled with a slightly larger battery must be working its magic.
Standby drain overnight is something else I've noticed as being much better too.
Early days, but I would charge my fold4 sometimes as much as 3 times throughout the day. This thing comfortably lasts a full day with many hours of screen on time and has battery left to spare. Amazing efficiency gains considering the short time frame between the two SoC's.
Mine is still optimization but so far looks good. Day 2 of use. Far better than my S22U exynos.

Second full day of usage, include setup cameras and work
Again 3 hours on Spotify +Bluetooth speaker, all turn on GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, 5G + WiFi etc it's little better then yesterday around 8h+ on display still has 6% left.
Hope will possible on my use 9h+ on display.

Nop, I got problem on pixel 6 pro Thst was big issue and charge phone 3 times a day but pixel 7pro its really similar battery like S23U right now.
It was 8h+ on display and all turn on and max resolution.
Big issue is on Bluetooth wasn't work with my huawei watch 3 pro they block it.
Not sure maybe is my phone some premium to have that but I seen better then my also.
Latest. Everything max. Bluetooth and location on all time. Poor cell reception at work. Streaming radio on commute. So impressed with this. It blows the 22 exynos away.

I mean I guess if I use my 7 Pro straight through I can get 8 hours pretty easily as my average screen on usage is 8%/hr but the standby time is awful, like 2% drain per hour. This is all on wifi too. If I am on mobile network, I'm looking at 12-15%/hr screen on and 3-4.5% standby drain. I can't wait to have the more efficient modem in the S23U.
