[Help] Can't mount as read / write - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a huawei y6
I rooted with kingroot, root checker says I have my phone rooted and i even managed to uninstall some apps like google movies and google music who were just wasting space but now I can't do anything because it only shows as read only and can't change to read/ write.
I have tried with
Root Browser, it was the one I was using at first
Root explorer
es file explorer
total command
super manager
also tried with
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount rootfs /
chmod 777 /system
and
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
only returns:
Code:
mount: Read-only file system
I don't know what else to do

Cannot mount with ADB

Hello all,
I am trying to push a file to my system, however I do not seem to be able to mount my system partition.
When I try to execute the following command, I always get the error "Operation not permitted" :
Code:
adb shell mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
My phone is rooted and my USB debugging is on !!
Anyone no what could cause this. It has always worked when I was still on 1.6 (rooted) and now it doesn't allow me access.
When I use Rootexplorer, I have R/W access, so root works.
Anyone has any tips or advise ?
Try...
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
Tried that, and get permission denied
Should have added, make sure your screens on on the phone and allow SuperUser access when you type su.
never mind, one sec

[Q] How to get write access to system folder

I am trying to root an elocity A7 and I pretty new at this. I installed root explorer but the mount r/w button does not work in the system folder. I tried the terminal command below but it does not seem to accept the command. I get back a message that says shows Usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options [-t type] device directory. I retried root explorer and still can't write. Thanks for any help.
- open Terminal emulator:
$ su
# mount -o remount,rw /system
- open Root Explorer \system folder and press r/w
adb remount
or search the market for "mount system"
I'm not following how to use adb remount. What would be the complete command line? Also, I can't get to the market which is why I am trying this. I read it on another thread here.
i cant find mount r/w button
download this program from the market "Mount /system (rw / ro)"
I can't get to the market on this device. Any other way of getting it?
Try the attached zip
Thank you! That worked.
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
Thanks For the App Recomendation

tinysu: Compatible "su" command for Root Explorer / for HC images and what not?

tinysu: Compatible "su" command for Root Explorer / for HC images and what not?
So, I just installed HoneyComb to my NC's eMMC. Works well!
Unfortunately apps such as Root Explorer are not too happy because the "su" command provided with these ROMs is too chatty and that confuses them.
So, here is a very quiet, working "su" command. With it, Root Explorer will happily remount partitions, etc.
Note that, like the ROM's "su" command, SuperUser is out of the picture so use with care.
To install, using adb:
Code:
adb shell
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
exit
adb push su /system/
adb shell
busybox cp /system/su /system/bin/
mount -o remount,ro /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
All done. Note that the "busybox cp" should preserve the application's suid bit.
been there done that... lol

no worries.
Even the Superuser application works now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953110\

I actually love that our community is so hard at work that this sort of thing happens

Help with Samsung Replenish SPH-M580

I have root and installed busybox. I'm trying to use Terminal Emulator to remove
some unwanted .apk files.
I used this command
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm -f /system/app/Browser.apk
The response is rm failed Read-only file system
Is there a step I'm missing or wrong command?
I want to remove the browser. Any help would be great, thanks.

[Q] Error while Rooting - /System Read-Only filesystem

Hey there guys.
I have a couple of devices I am trying to root.
One is a ZTE Fit 4G and the other is a cheap tablet bought from ebay with an allwinner A20 marked as MIB in about.
I have tried many ways of rooting on both of them. One of which was Cydia Impactor.
I have used Cydia Impactor to root other devices just fine.
However on these 2 devices when i run "# drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su" the payload runs on the device and then Cydia Impactor shows "mount: Read-Only filesystem"
When i try adb remount I get remount failed: Read-only file system
Also when i try this in adb shell - mount -o rw,remount /system I get the same error mount: Read-only file system
Of course I get the same message with mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
All these commands are done while the phone is running. should i be in recovery mode or something while I do this?
If that is not the case then how would I go about making the file system writable or is there away to root the device without modifying system and once rooted install supersu and binaries manually (I am assuming the only access to /system is to install super su... which could be totally wrong)
I appreciate your time in reading this and look forward to hearing any suggestions you may have,
Kriogenic.
