Gonna buy second hand GALAXY S2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I live in India and a person is making an offer of 3.5k for his old and used galaxy s2.
Non-rooted.
So is it worth it or I can go with something low.

[Q] Galaxy S2 Plus coming at MWC: will the standard S2 get cheaper?

As you may be aware, the Galaxy S2 Plus is coming to the MWC. Currently the price for the standard S2 is US$579. Do you think that the S2 Plus will cost more than US$579? Or do you think that the standard S2 will decrease its price to something like US$499 while the S2 Plus will be sold at US$579?
Im interested in buying a S2, should I wait until MWC? Do you think that after the MWC the standard S2 will cost US$499?

Too expensive , samsung repair

Ok here is the deal , my phone got hardbricked by this stupid 4.0.4 thing , so i gave to samsung and i was out of warranty , after 3 days they called me and told me it will cost about half of the phone to replace the motherboard
Now what should i do , get a new gs2 or get my old made in korea samsung repaired
Or just wait for the gs3 to get cheaper then buy it
Sucks man. How much is the repair? Maybe get a Galaxy Nexus. They are pretty cheap now and you will get the latest updates fast, no more rooting BS. I'm thinking of trading my S2 for the nexus. Brickbug has scared me too much

If you know what you are doing or can even read, then the brick bug can never affect you.
And even if you have galaxy nexus, you will still eventually root the device.
Unmodified Aosp ICS Android build has it's own obvious limitations too.

Motherboard is the most expensive part of almost any electronic device.
Getting it via official source will even be more expensive.
My advise:
1. Change your motherboard via unofficial route. It's will be cheaper
2. Buy used Galaxy SII or nexus while you wait for the price of galaxy Siii to drop significantly.

Buying a new galaxy note and needing your expertise!

Hi! as some of you might know i had problems with my past samsung galaxy note i717, so i returned it. was a bad experience but i'm in loved with the cellphone and i don't wanna make mistakes twice.
I'm trying to buy a new one through ebay, and i want it closer to new.
so i found the "seller refurbished"
and i found as "new" a "floor demo model"
and another one listed as new but without it plastics but under samsung warranty.
What would u guys recommend? and what does "floor-demo model" means?
would you recommend me buying the i717 or the note II? (i read is the same thing... just for the screen)
thanks

"Refurbished" is one that was returned, checked over, corrected, and sent back out. Usually has a warrenty.
"New Floor Demo" was probably a device on display at a retail outlet. While it can be classified as "new" since no one ever bought it, it probably has the most use. Everyone and their mother touched it.
"New w/o plastic + warrenty" was probably bought, opened, tested, and put back in the box. I would only worry that the warrenty wouldn't transfer if it has already been registered.
Now to the Note I v. Note II: they are definetly not the same device. Pretty much every factor and spec is different. Dual-core S3 v. Quad-core exynos, 1gb ram v. 2gb ram, 1280x800 v. 1280x720, 5.3" v. 5.5", Android 4.0.4 v. Android 4.1... they list goes on.
If it were me, I wouod buy the Note II if the funds were available. It really is quite pricey. Subsidized would be a different story. I would read reviews on both. Make the decision. One is older but still more than capable. The other is brand new and currently sitting on top of the cell phone mountain.

[Q] Is this phone worth it for Tmobile?

Currently I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 for Tmobile. It's practically brand new at about 2months old. I like it a lot but I kind of want to try the Note. I want the Note 2 but it's too expensive and not that much different than the Note 1 so I figure that it's a good way to capitalize on it by getting the cheaper note 1.
Most of the used Galaxy Notes I see on craigslist are ATT version, Tmobile is rare. If I buy a i717 version, is it worth the trouble? I like the bigger screen of the note versus the S3. I'm not sure if it's going to be a big downgrade though. Does the note 1 have jelly bean support now? How is the battery life compared to the s3? S3 drains fast and needs to charge in the middle of the day if I use navigation. Otherwise nightly.
I'm not sure if by using Tmobile I can get 4g on all the ROMs or if I will be limited to just a few here and there. Would i be better off getting a Tmobile note 1 or just keeping my S3?

I would recommend getting the T-Mobile version if you are on their network. I have a i717 and was using it with T-Mobile, but it was hit or miss. Sometimes I'd get pretty good 4g other times edge. Now I'm on straight talk (att sim) until the mvno's get LTE.
I use my At&t branded on T-Mobile and have no issues at all. Just make sure its unlocked.
Personally I have not noticed any network issues.

I use my i717 on tmobile and I get 4g all day. Whether flashing a modem or not. Make sure your in a refarm area as well. Also we can cross flash so you can flash a tmobile note rom on your device and get usual tmobile speeds you would get if you purchased a tmobile note.
I think the Note has its advantages over the s3. I like the screen size and the spen. The note dwarfs any phone not in its class.
We have jellybean as well.
It's user preference.

Thank you so I just bought an I717 today. I would like jelly bean (preferably Note II rom) but not sure if its buggy or not developed at this point.
It came rooted and with a weird ugly rom, Im not sure what it is. He said he used it with tmobile but i dont know what modem he used.
I read that the Blaze modem is the best but is it only for ICS?
I'm confused. If the phone itself is unlocked, I.E. calling att to unlock it or buying an unlock service on ebay then do I need to mess with the modems? My area has tmobile refarm.
Or if I cant get it unlocked "factory", then is that when I flash the modem?
Which roms are we limited to if were using tmobile or am I free to use any rom once it's been unlocked?
EDIT: I went on the tmobile forum and if Im not mistaken, I flash a rom, then flash a tmobile modem, and even if its a modem for ICS it should work for jelly bean?
I got this phone for my mom as an "upgrade" from the samsung s3 because to her shejust wants a big screen. I want it to be as similar as possible to the s3's OS and right now she has jellybean with touchwiz.
Are there are jelly bean touchwiz roms or a note 2/galaxy s3 port?

I wouldn't question them mate... either they have too much stock of the alpha or it's a mistake!
Either way, bite their hand off!
