Forgotten pattern unlock, fingerprint works - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can unlock my phone OK with my fingerprint, but I can't remember my pattern unlock (well, I think I can, but the phone doesn't accept it). I need the pattern to modify the fingerprint unlock, e.g. to add more fingers. Anyone know how to reset the pattern when fingerprint is working OK?
I'm on stock .253.

Well This Is Very Easy To Fix .
Follow The Steps:
1) Identify the Gmail registered with the device.
2) Check whether "Android Device Manager" is enabled in Settings-> Security -> Device Administrators if not enabled ,then enable it .
3) Login to Device Manager
https://www.google.co.in/android/devicemanager
4) There you will find an option to "Lock the device" . Lock it with new Password/Pattern.
That's It
Hope It Helps
Please hit Thanks If worked!
Note: Do Connect The Phone To Internet!

Thanks. I think this would have worked, or I could have used myxperia.sonymobile.com similarly. Unfortunately I rebooted the phone, and it turns out, even with fingerprint enabled, that it needs a pattern to unlock the first time after rebooting! I had to wipe it with Xperia Companion (there seems to be no on-device recovery user interface that we can use), which was annoying.
I've now set it up again and made very sure I knew the pattern before adding fingerprints!

SOME BASIC STEPS BEFORE YOU BEGIN Unlock & ByPass a Pattern Lock on an Android Device Without Loosing Data
The very first and important need is the ADB drivers that must be installed in your PC.
Then it is really important that the USB debugging must be enabled before your device being locked.
You should be very carefull while installing the drivers of your device. This technique will not work without installing the specific drivers.
Users might feel really annoyed and irritated when they tried the pattern lock several times in panic and unfortunately their android smartphone displayed locked out. Further users cannot access their android smartphone and at last need to bypass the pattern lock.
HOW TO BYPASS THE PATTERN LOCK ON AN ANDROID DEVICE
Just Follow the easy tutorial to Unlock an android’s pattern lock without factory reset after when you have forgotten it. And yes its that easy as it sounds.
Users need to connect their android device via USB cable to PC.
You must now open the folder where you installed ADB driver.
Now you just have to click right on the screen’s blank area along with hold the shift key and select “OPEN COMMAND WINDOW”.
A window command will prompt and then you just need to type the following:
adb shell
cd /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
sqlite3 settings.db
update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock';
update system set value=0 where name='lockscreen.lockedoutpermanently';
.quit
Once it has been done then you have to reboot your android device.
Now it is all done and set.
After following this guide tutorial now you can access your android device as the pattern lockhas been completely disabled.

Should we type it just as you mentioned or there is something about the spaces or should It be typed like a paragraph as you mentioned

Is pocophone encrypted by default?

Hi there..
I'm trying ti understand device encryption before i install a custom ROM on my poco. (Any links explaining how encryption works on android would be greatly appreciated)
My first question is whether the pocophone encryption is turned on by default.
Under the encryption settings, the "encrypt device using lock screen password" slider is set to off.
However, every time I reboot the phone, i am forced to enter the lock screen password as fingerprint and facial recognition do not work. I assumed that this is because encryption had been enabled on my phone by default. But then why is the slider set to off?

The option that you are talking about under encryption settings, is the same as "Android secure start up" on AOSP. If you enable this option, you need to enter your device password while you restart the phone. Or else your device won't even boot up (and you won't see the lockscreen) completely and you will be stuck. It's an extra layer of security on top of lockscreen password/pattern/pin. Now coming to your second question, it's a security feature on android where no other unlock methods will work except PIN/Password/Pattern after you restart the device everytime. And it has nothing to do with encryption or decryption. Even if you decrypt the ROM, you will still have to enter your password or pin or pattern on every reboot. Only then all other unlock methods will start working. Some ROMs have a feature where you can bypass this security and unlock the device straight away on every reboot without entering the default pin or password/pattern. But they also put a disclaimer that it's not safe.
Thanks for the info.. But one of the questions "Is the Pocophone F1" encrypted by default?" is not yet answered. I am very interested to know. And (while I am asking) if not, "How can I do encrypt it"?
Yes, it is encrypted by default.

Secure startup (easy full device encryption bypass?)

In Android 9 Pie (and earlier versions) there is a setting ‘Secure startup’, which is applicable in case of full device encryption (which comes by default in all new Android phones AFAIK). When ‘Require password when device turns on’ is enabled, the password must be entered at phone start and the phone won’t boot if no password is entered. When the other option ‘Do not require’ is enabled the phone starts and I can even receive phone calls, I just cannot unlock the phone.
So my question is: if ‘Require password when device turns on’ is NOT enabled – does this mean that my phone is NOT encrypted and if for example gets stolen, the thief will be able to download all my data to a PC (without unlocking the phone)? If this is true this seems like an absurdly easy way to bypass full device encryption...
Your data is encrypted by default. You can have it set to not encrypt it but it is not something I would advice of you.
As for the secure start up. As long as you have a locked bootloader and a password there are less then .01% of people that can hack into your device.

My phone is rooted and the bootloader is not locked AFAIK (it's Exynos).
I am not asking about bruteforce and other hacking techniques that could be used, I am just asking whether my phone is encrypted after boot and before the screen is unlocked.
Yes it is encrypted. Has been since the day you first day Bought it.
OK, but how come then my phone boots and is almost fully operational when ‘Require password when device turns on’ is NOT enabled (e.g. I can receive phone calls, calendar events pop up on screen - although I cannot see what they are all about because the screen is locked)?

Think of it as safe mode on PC. Not everything or all permissions are allowed when booting like that. It just a security feature and has nothing to do with encryption. It just locks out some info from being seen without the password.
Ill be honest with you. If you are worried about your data then dont be too worried. Unless you are someone important then your device is only useful for how much the hardware will get. Let me tell you how a phone theft goes.
1. Phone Stolen
2. Sim card removed
3. Device reset
4. If its locked then take it home and flash an OS to it or sell it to a pawn shop that is questionable.
Now the first 3 are normally done before you even know your device is gone (less then a minute)
Encryption bypass / Android (10) security issue after first unlock

I have discovered another security issue on a rooted device:
On my Magisk-rooted and encrypted Note 10+/Exynos (Android 10) I just found out, that the userdata (data/data ) partition is UNENCRYPTED and fully readable when viewed with an ADB viewer from my PC although the device is in lockscreen mode / locked!
This doesn't happen after reboot before the first unlock! After the device has been unlocked, accessed via ADB and re-locked (but not rebooted) it is (still) unencrypted, even after rebooting the PC!
Here the lockscreen password would not make much sense at every screenlock - it just unlocks the screen which can be bypassed and all data can be read via ADB anyway - it would only make sense once at boot. Is there a way to have two passwords (1 at boot and an easier one at screenlock) for example?
Is this a known bug? / Any ideas?

RE:Help for lockpattern on huawei honor9

Hello,
I have Huawei Honor 9 STF-AL10(al09) (chinese version 6gb/128gb) which can not unlock. Before some days i gave the phone to my child for playing, then he put lock pattern and he forget it next day.I was using my phone with my fingerprint ,whitout know the lockpattern, and some days later, it says fingerprint suspend - pattern required. And i am trying everything and cannot unlock it. I know the email which is connect the phone, i try when open it in google devices, but is not allowed USB debug and not allowed Find my phone and cannot unlock. Is there have any way to unlock and keep information in. I have a lot of doc, notes and some apps.
I need to save everything as it is inside.
I can wipe and recover, but i need to save everything.
Is there any software do this(doesn't matter if its paying).
Until somedays i have option every 1 hours to try 3 times, but from now is every 24 hours only 1 time.
Or, if there have any way to unlock again with my fingerprint and after that i will allow usb debug and remove lockpattern?
Please help.
Thanks!
Regards,
Georgi
Have you tried third party programs like dr.fone?
This article has some positive reviews, check it out as well.
You can't unlock bootloader on huawei devices so you can't recover data from it :/
If you're desperate you can follow this article here to unlock bootloader on your device, it's quite expensive though.
Also unlocking the bootloader wipes all data and that's obviously not what you want.
Should all of the above mentioned fail then I really think wiping it is the only option.
Should you succeed then do post what worked for you here so anyone viewing the thread in the future knows what to do.
I can do wipe data/cache from boot menu and i can reset it, i know the email and everything, but i need to save everything as it is inside.
I was thinking, if there have any way to bring again to unlock with the finger print and i will fix it.
It is not a problem, i will pay for Dr Fone, but i was write to them to ask, is the software can help me, without losing anything inside, but they not responding me.
I am trying any combination with lock pattern, but the problem is that now is only 1 try in 24hours and killing me.
Yes, If i find solution i will post it, to save a lot of searching for somebody else.

If you know the email then why not reset the pin?
You can't get the fingerprint to work if it says fingerprint suspended, it's a security feature in Huawei phones and you have to enter your pin.
Try sending it to an authorized service center, they may be able to help you.

What I mant by PIN is the device password, or lockpattern.
Did you try forgot my password?
If you have a Huawei ID and you're signed in on your device then follow this guide here.
If all of that failed as well then I'm sorry to inform you that your data is no longer recoverable.
Make sure to do regular backups to avoid this mistake again. I personally use this app.
Also turning on parental control mode when giving your device to your child is another way to avoid this happening again, I personally wouldn't blame my child for this.

I can't remember to set Huawei ID.
Yes, for future i will know and not give it anymore ...

I commend your determination annon, but please don't waste your time.
There is no way to recover the data. You don't have debugging mode on, no root, no unlocked bootloader or custom recovery, you don't have a Huawei ID, and google account/google find my device doesn't work.
I don't mean to interfere in your family issues, but as I said I wouldn't blame my child for it. Judging from the way you spoke they're still young.
Instead I'll turn on parental control mode before giving my device.
I will try to find a way with fastboot, if there have some way to do it, i can see the device in ADB terminal , it recognize it at fastboot device, when start the phone in fastboot recovery menu.
Yes, he is 8 year old, i'm not blame him, they are child - it is normal for them.

Question A02S SM-A025G - Google Pay, McDonald's application doesn't work (Root problem)

Hello recently I tried to root my phone, wanting to fix ghost touch, I did something wrong and the phone stopped working, "Only official binary blah blah blah ..." popped up during startup, I decided to reinstall the official stock, the phone started working normally, even ghost touch repaired, I looked at the Root Checker application if I have root, it turned out not, which is all right, but when I want to add the card to google pay or open McDonald's applications, I get a message that the phone is rooted or was somehow rooted modified, what can I do in such a situation, please help me, I tried to install other stocks from other operators and restore the phone to factory settings: _ (
I saw one solution, probably in this forum where someone wrote to enable OEM Unlock and USB Debugging then disable and enable again, something like this, but I don't see OEM Unlock in the developer option, I know that with a failed root attempt, I somehow unlocked this option, but I don't remember how and I prefer someone to help me as best as he can, because I don't want to break anything anymore, I just want Google Pay to start working for me
OEM is probably hidden cause your device isnt older than 7 days. Connect to wifi and enable automatic time and date, than disable once done set the date atleast 7 day forward and oem should appear but you will have to lock ur bootloader before you disable oem and if you are running a custom firmawre make sure to backup data if you wanna go to normal firmware
But I use official firmware from some Samsung firmware site, i think my bootloader is locked, anyway do you have any solves to make work google pay?
I tried to unlock OEM but this solution with data & time doesn't work for me.
Hey, when I go to Google Play Shop there is an information that my device isn't certified, I tried to register my ID Device and still doesn't work can It be a problem, because of that Google Pay doesn't work?

Is it good idea to root this device correctly and use magisk to make google pay work good or for example root this device and then unroot to make work google pay?

before you do this if odin says you are in custom mode backup all your data before doing this. no it wont automatically, first you have to go to odin mode and hold up for a bit until the screen shuts and shows the question (do you wanna lock your bootloader) you select yes once done if you are on custom it will bring up only odin mode before anything thats where u flash firmware, now that should get rid of the root, and then if u wanna disable oem connect to wifi disconnect date and time unselect automatically and go 7 days ahead and the option will appear.
How to check if i have custom mode and what i have to hold up?? please explain better because i don't know what i have to do
