I hear audio but no video. I have the animation in the /system/media folder. I even tried /system/bin...still not showing any video no matter which bootanimation.zip file i place in the folder.

are u on Ginger Break or ICS, also what boot animation are you using, upload ur zip and i will check it out.
Make sure its not a Captial B I had the same problem also check your screen size inside the zip file itself.
Also too when zipping it has to be store. It cannot have any compression. Not even normal works
remember not all roms support bootanimations.
what rom are you using?
System/media is the right folder. Giving that you are on a rom that supports boot ani, make sure that you have permissions set correctly.

Does having a file named bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg have anything to do with the boot animation not working?
