v20c-SEP-09-2016 update??? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
just received the v20c-SEP-09-2016 update on my 960A in Europe. When I click "install now" the device will prepare the update an boot into TWRP. No installation is done. Is there a way to manually install the dlpkgfile, that is located in /cache/fota/ ?
Will my device still be rooted after the installation?
I already renamed the dlpkgfile into dlpkgfile.zip and tried to flash it through twrp, but the zip-integrity-check failed and I dare not to flash it without :-/

x2

We need a flashable zip. Can someone provide please?

You can just flash the latest kdz file from LG and root the phone again : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68414181&postcount=83

Will it wipe?

Hi,
no, it will not wipe your phone if you select the "UPGRADE" Option in LGUP. Did this twice myself for V20b and V20c. You have to install TWRP and SuperSU afterwards again.

Ah, thnx. Is it worthwhile doing such mini upgrades?

LMY48I OTA Update on LTE and TWRP states wrong device

I've hunted around the forum but can't quite see this issue.
I've rooted and unlocked the bootloader and installed the latest TWRP recovery on my Nexus 9 LTE.
I'm aware that TWRP is for the wifi only model, so when I try and flash the latest LMY48I update via recovery and the zip file, TWRP states that the update is for "flounder_lte" and my device is "flounder". (the device is flounder lte but clearly having twrp installed is causing this error)
Is there a another way of updating my lte device so I can install the OTA update ???
@beej199
What "update" are you trying to flash?
The official OTA can only be sideloaded via stock recovery.
And the factory image has to flashed via fastboot, from bootloader.
The lte zip from here....
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/08/10/download-nexus-4-5-6-7-9-10-ota-stagefright-patches/
So it would be possible to install via fastboot?
Is there a guide for how an update (rather than a full system image) can be installed you could point me to?
thanks!

No. This is an OTA. You have to have stock recovery, stock (non rooted) system, and stock kernel.
If you want to fastboot flash the factory image, download it from here > https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Then follow this guide for a "how to" (use the Long Method. Flash_All does not work) > http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-flash-t3035153

[Q] [TWRP] Stuck in recovery after OTA update

Hello guys,
I need your help. I have a L7 II P710 and have intalled the rootable KDZ version months ago, but now I installed an OTA update accidentally and stucks since in the recovery (twrp). I checked all threads for a solution and tried to flash the new P710 V20C EUROPE OPEN version to repair the problem, but with several methods from the LG Flash Tool 2014 I could not solve the problem and still stuck in the recovery. Now I could need support from experts like you!
It would be glad when someone could assist me in this problem.

If you have working TWRP, try to flash some of custom roms' like CM10.2 first. After that (if your device boot normaly), you may flash stock kk europe open.
And more details please, like version before ota upgrade, your country, simlock status etc.

Thanks for your reply. I could solve the problem... I downloaded a stock kdz version that doesnt include the twrp recovery or something else. After that I could boot normally up and down. Then I flashed the new rootable that includes TWRP and all works fine. But now there is a OTA update again and I would like to apply this update, but with the TWRP recovery it is not possible. Is there any way to restore the stock recovery without flash a stock rom?
My kdz contains pached bootloader (APPSSBL), and after upgrade via ota you have brick.
If you want this upgrade (why if you can flash my v20c?), you must flash back original RECOVERY and APPSSBL, extracted from your present original rom kdz.
And unroot your device.
Or you may simply flash original kdz.
After ota upgrade, no longer root is possible.
I flashed your 20c version (this was meant with "the new rootable [rom] that includes TWRP"), but my smartphone shows me every time the possibilty to update. Actually i don't need this update and tried to deactivate the OTA updater. I deactivated the update manager from my lg and disabled the notification but it still shows me the message to update. Could I backup the app via TitaniumBackup and delete it?

Yes, good idea. I recommend you to backup whole rom with TWRP. Just disable screen timeout in TWRP before performing backup.
Actually there is a solution. Its better not to use FOTA update if u have custom recovery. But also attached file can help.Sometimes.Helped me with v20D updates. Just flash it via recovery.

January Security Update incremental .zip - Directly from Google's servers

I got the update for the January Security Update today. I grabbed the .zip's location and the link on Google's servers is:
https://android.googleapis.com/pack...51c56752.signed-angler-MMB29P-from-MMB29M.zip
Hope it helps others!
PSA: this is not flashable over custom ROMs, and cannot be used to install the factory OS from nothing. That's what the factory images are for . This .zip is solely to incrementally update from the December security update to the January one.
Is there an easy way to flash this update.zip without the need of a computer?

Unless you have a custom recovery, no. Sorry about that
Updated. Thanks for the link!
I have a rooted, stock ROM and TWRP and with several Xposed Modules, can I flash this?
Also, I don't have the December update, where do I find that?
And lastly, I'm on MDB08L Build, will that work?
For those wanting to use this update and have completely stock system based on MMB29M. Boot into recovery and do an ADB sideload update.zip (rename zip first). Mine updated with no issues.

If you've got all that set up, why not just update using the full factory image (without the wipe)

I assumed I'll lose all my system modifications (i.e. Xposed Modules and their settings) as well as losing root and TWRP and having to reroot again.

This is exactly the file you need if you don't have custom recovery, don't have root, and have not unlocked bootloader. It is the same file that would eventually come to you OTA. You do however need access to adb and a computer. I don't think this is flashable with a custom recovery.
Thanks..
Thanks for this file bro. dont need to wait.
Alright, feeling like a complete noob, here. I'm on systemless root 2.61 with TWRP. I fastboot flashed the stock boot.img and stock recovery, then tried to sideload the OTA zip. I got a "system contains unexpected contents" error, then installation aborted. Now, with systemless root, I had the understanding that flashing the stock system.img would not be necessary. I was not using systemless root before when I flashed the previous OTA zip. Can anyone spot where I might have gone wrong?

Try flash stock system image
Does this update fix the LTE issue?

No it does not
I got it:
For systemless root, fastboot flash: 1) boot.img; 2) recovery.img; 3) vendor.img; 4) system.img
Boot to recovery and enter sideloade mode. adb sideload [update].zip
Reboot to bootloader. Re-flash TWRP, then in TWRP re-flash kernel (if custom) & superSU.
I used a toolkit to root my 6P. I'm using rooted stock rom. I got an OTA update but it seems I can't update it that way as per all others. So how do I go about installing this on my mobile? Do I need to unroot, flash stock recovery & then flash the new image? Then again I have to root?
fyi: i'm rooted with systemless root and twrp
I tried to take this update per usual as i would if i were unrooted, of course that didn't work totally. i assumed i would just find the update.zip file (i did: /data/data/com.google.android.gms/app.download/update.zip, icywtk) but when i tried to flash that it said the zip was corrupted. i deleted the zip and now it still says my december build is up to date. can't we just flash the update.zip with twrp? i did allow for the system to be modified this time when i booted twrp.

i just tried this again with the same results. it says that the installer is expecting a different build (the one that my settings app shows i'm on) but that i have a build called huawei/mmasomething/ dee_stroyer somethingsomething. (i would post exactly what it says but i've already rebooted into system). I do remember something with "dee_stroyer" when i was rooting but it's not the system...
anyone else have any ideas? i'd like to just update normally and keep my data... and the stock android with root.
EDIT: also, the update won't update my recovery will it? i don't want to have to reflash that. i should be able to update even when i'm away from a computer haha.
Rooted with TWRP. I just tried an ADB sideload and get the same error.

Is is possible to update with TWRP?

Hello,
I have received last week a notification about the new update (from 31th May). Once the file was downloaded, my device has rebooted and arrived in the TWRP recovery. Nothing happened. I checked where the zip file was and I tried to install with TWRP but without success. TWRP said me that META-INFO is missing in the zip file. Is there a way to update with TWRP or have I to wait a new complete ROM with this update?
Thanks
Worked for me,
Which version of TWRP do you have?
It is the 3.0.2.1.
The exact message is "Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file.
Not working take a look at TWRP site I also tried with 3.0.2.1 and after error update is automatically erased.

Thank you Mr. Claude... effectively, with this FAQ on the TWRP site I understand now why it is impossible to apply an OTA update with TWRP.
Have a nice day
You're Welcome. Also on my LeTv x600 worked with TWRP but is not identical update system like P9000.

For me OTA update worked just fine on the P9000 with TWRP 3.0.2-1
only had to flash SuperSU again after the update.
Hello sundawn,
Can you just explain how you made your update? Have you a link to download the update.zip with the META-INF missing ?
Thanks.

Are you sure there was OTA update (with stock ROMs and from Update menu) not regular ROM download .zip made for TWRP and update through TWRP?(in this case you need an TWRP update zip).
There is 4 methods of update of ROMs:
1. OTA (On The Air) in this case updates is downloaded automatically or no (depending you're settings) direct on phone.
2. Download update.zip and flashing from stock recovery.
3. Download ROM.... update.zip for TWRP and flashed from TWRP.
4. Full new update ROM.zip and flashing with SpFlashTools.
Edit: Today successfully managed to update latest OTA 31.05 (but only this because seems there isn't a full update) via TWRP 3.0.2.1.

Same here.
After getting the update notification, I just taped apply and TWRP actually started the update.
Could be you have to remove the sd card, move your SIM from tray 2 to tray 1, and then try updating with the OTA again. That worked for me, after getting errors trying to update with the sd card inserted.
Hi, please, I installed some OTA update and forgot that I have TWRP. And now phone will always boot TWRP. Does somebody know where update is downloaded so I can install it?
Thank you
why make something so difficult? i would just give up on otas if i were you, ive never received any of them, just update manually.. download the file, grab a cup of coffee, and install it
I have the same issue, would like to know how what to flash to recover from this, TWRP for me is working well, but I can not boot to anything else.

Full factory flash with SP Flash Tools was the only way I was able to recover, at least I became very practised at it.

If you try to install the incremental OTA zip with TWRP, it will not install. You have to wait to download the full ROM and then flash it.
In case you don't want to wait, dirty flash the current ROM and it will overwrite TWRP with stock recovery. Now you can flash the incremental OTA zip through stock recovery and after setting up the phone, flash TWRP if needed.
